(Twins are twelve)
Six months pass: June
"Do we have everything?" Erza asked as she frantically raced around the living room grabbing items
"Yeah we have it all, calm down" Jellal stood in front of the mother, stopping her in her tracks
"I just don't want to forget anything" Erza glanced over his shoulder to see if there was anything else she had missed
Jellal lifted his arms and placed his hands upon her shoulders, he rested his head on hers and closed his eyes.
"I know you're really nervous about this, I am to but we need to be strong now, the twin's will be more anxious than us, we need to show them courage"
Erza nodded her head and exhaled lightly, Jellal's words always gave her comfort. She was so happy she had him near her side, so happy that it was him who had blessed her with such beautiful children.
"No more worrying" she whispered
The day had finally arrived, the start of the Kingdom Hall Games. Everyone in Fiore had come together to cheer on the guilds competing in the competition. The excitement had been building up all week for the event, journalist from every type of magazine had come along to publish their experiences and write about all the young wizards who were participating in the games.
The streets were lined with colourful banners and balloons, hundreds of stalls were set up in the centre of the town, selling all kinds of hot and cold foods. People from all ages had come along to the see the event. Young children walked beside their mothers and fathers with tiny flags in the palms of their hands. While the older children had placed pretend tattoos on their arms for the guilds they were supporting.
Ayoko slowly walked behind her parents, she fiddled with the lace to her sapphire ribbon dress. She felt nauseous, her heart was racing and her palms had become clammy. She tried to steady her breathing as she was guided through the large crowd of people, she bit down on her bottom lip as her small body trembled.
"I'm not ready...I'm not ready for this" she mumbled silently to herself
"Wow so many people, I never imagined it would be anything like this!" Kiyoshi glanced up in amazement as he chewed on one of the sweets his father had just brought him.
"All competitors need to change in the rooms provided, girls to the right and boys to the left" Mira smiled as she instructed everyone who came through the
She had put herself forward as a volunteer, helping out the young wizards and parents. Wendy and Chelia had also put themselves forward to help out but they were both based in the hospital wing.
"Mira" Erza smiled, happy to see a familiar face
"Hello Erza, are the twins prepared for their first match?" the blue eyed mage asked
"They have been working very hard, I'm very confident they will do their best"
"That's so good to hear" Mira smiled "Please make sure you're all ready, the games will be starting shortly"
"We will be" Erza gave Jellal a quick peck on the cheek before leading her daughter into the changing area for girls
The room was rather large though there were not many people inside, Ayoko slowly made her way to one of the curtained areas so as to change out of her dress. Erza watched, sensing there was something wrong with her daughter, she recalled how she used to feel before battles. Though she had been very confident in her matches against other wizards there had still been a little doubt when she hadn't know about the challengers magic.
Erza walked forward, she stood on the other side of the curtain, she lifted her arm up and took a hold of the dangling material.
"Ayoko?" she called softly
There was no reply, Erza slowly pulled back the pale pink curtain. Inside was her daughter sitting on a small bench. She had her head in her hands.
"Ayoko..." Erza stepped inside and closed the curtain behind her
The young girl looked up, her deep brown eyes were filled with tears. Erza felt a sting of pain as she saw her child's upset expression, the mother held out her arms. Ayoko fell straight into them and sobbed.
"I'm s-scared mum" she confessed "What if I fail" she chocked
Erza ran her hand through her daughter's long purple hair, she rested her cheek on Ayoko's head and smiled.
"It's alright to be afraid Ayoko, being scared doesn't mean you won't succeed" she assured the child "Me and your father believe in you as does the rest of your guild, Fairy Tail. I know I haven't given you many words of support but that was because I had never seen what you were capable of doing, your magic is powerful and strong" Erza slowly pulled her daughter away
Ayoko lifted her head and looked at her mother, the scarlet haired wizard gently wiped away her daughter's tears.
"I love you so much, so very much" Erza gently placed a kiss upon her daughter's head
Ayoko sniffled and pulled her mother in for another long, tight hug
"T-Thank you mum...I love you to" she mumbled
"It's almost time" Mira called into the room, "Please can all the wizards make their way to the front gates" the S class wizard instructed
Ayoko pulled away from her mother, the pair now smiling. The young girl turned around and Erza began brushing her daughter's long beautiful hair. The two stood in silence as Erza wrapped a cream ribbon in her daughter's hair. Ayoko watched her mother, her heart was still racing but she no longer felt flustered or panicked. Her mothers words had comforted her, it was alright to be afraid, it was alright to feel scared.
Thank you so much mum, dad, Fairy Tail, thank you for believing in me. I promise I wont let you down...
"Ayoko!" Yuki waved and smiled as she raced towards her friend.
The young girl was wearing a yellow and cream all in one outfit, her shorts were just over her hips and her blonde hair was resting down either side of her in pig tails.
Ayoko smiled and hugged her friend, as she pulled back she saw Meghan and Kiyoshi. She felt even more relaxed now she was with her friends and brother, though they were competing against one another it was still a calming atmosphere.
"I thought you and Kiyoshi would be wearing matching outfits?" Meghan asked
"No, we decided if we get into the final round then we would wear mat-"
"Still being foolish, believing that you will actually get as far as the final" Katio huffed
Ayoko frowned and clenched her fist's, Kiyoshi looked away, fearing to look at the dark wizard.
"You sound to confident, who says either of you would get in to the final round, you only know how to scare people, none of that will work now cause no one here is afraid of you!" Yuki hissed
Katio's brow furrowed, he was surprised by her aggressive words. She had clearly not been taught a harsh enough lesson from when she last stood up against him. The dark wizard turned away, he adjusted his arm bands and faced the large metal gate.
"You'll be sorry you spoke out to me like that" he growled
"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the first day of the Kingdom Hall Games, my name is Chapati and I will be your spokesman throughout the games, along side me is Yajima a former member of the magic council and Jason from Sorcerer weekly"
"Cool, Cooooooollllll"
"Everyone is all very excited to meet the young wizards who will be competing against one another for a place in the final"
"Have they come out yet?" Erza asked Jellal as she rushed to her seat beside him and her guild
"No they're still introducing everyone" the blue haired male told her
Erza sat down next to Jellal, catching her breathe she looked down at the large arena. The centre was covered in sand, almost like a Roman stadium without the blood stained ground.
"Let's give a huge cheer for Mermaid Heel, representing them will be Meghan"
The crowd cheered as Meghan entered the stadium, she waved up to her guild as they called down to her. The young wizard came to a slow stop in the centre of the stadium where six crosses had been marked down in the sand.
"Next up are the twin's from the Wolfclaw guild, not much is none about this guild"
"It is rather strange to not know much about such a strong guild but I'm sure that the mystery of them makes their fans ever more excited to see them competing in the Kingdom Hall Games" Yajima commented
"Yes I agree Yajima, Wolfclaw is a very secretive guild but that hasn't stopped them from becoming one of the well loved guilds here today"
"Cool...!" Jason cried as he stood up
The large metal gates parted once more, Katio and Yori stepped out into the arena as their names were called out, the crowd cheered just as loud as they had before. Though the guild the two boys belonged to remained silent, stoned face. Katio never glanced up, he knew his father was watching him so there was no need to check, Yori followed behind his brother in silence, he was going over the words his father had said to him just hours ago.
"I am surprised you got this far Yori, I never thought it possible, though that said please do not think I am praising you. I don't believe you will reach the final, you allow your heart to control you which makes you weak. Wolf's do not give sympathy, they do not pity!"
"Everything to them is prey, that is what you need to do, treat everything, everyone around you as though they are prey, then maybe you can become a wizard worthy of holding the Wolfclaw marking..."
Yori wanted to place his head down as he re-played the conversation he had had with his father but that would only show weakness, he bit his tongue and remained staring straight ahead. Though tears pleaded to fall he held them back, he had to prove to his father that he was worthy, he was worthy of being a wolf.
"It seems Wolfclaw are not very loud today, not one of their members have cheered for their wizards" Chapati pointed out
"Sometimes its best to stay composed and not make a sound" Yajima commented
"Y-Yes, yes you are right Yajima...though that being said it is rather strange to not cheer for your own guild..." Chapati added
"Fool" Katio hissed under his breathe "The guild has nothing to cheer for yet, we have not battled so why would they scream and shout for us" he frowned
"Next we have the Blue Pegasus guild and representing them is Yuki...!" Chapati called out as the gates were open once more
The young blonde wizard came walking out with confidence, she smiled and waved up to the cheering crowd. She had fought so hard to get to where she was now, she had studied for hours and trained really hard. No one, not even Katio could bring down her spirits.
"Thank you, thank you" she called out as she came to a stop next to Meghan's side. Meghan turned to her and smiled.
"Finally our last two young wizards are from Fairy Tail and are also twin's, everyone give a huge cheer for Ayoko and Kiyoshi"
The large gates parted once more, Kiyoshi took a hold of his sister's hand, she turned to him and gave a small smile as they slowly entered the stadium. The twins walked side by side. Ayoko could feel her heart pounding heavily against her chest, she squeezed her brothers hand gently but did not turn to look at him. She had waited for this moment all her life, this was what she had dreamed of for so many years.
Kiyoshi waved up to his mum and dad, the Fairy Tail guild cheered along with the rest of the crowd. The stadium roared with support. Ayoko came to a slow pause next to Yori. The gates had closed behind them, leaving the six wizards alone in the centre of the arena.
"There we have the competitors, the Wolfclaw twins Katio and Yori, Blue Pegasus Yuki, Mermaid Heel's Meghan and Fairy Tail twins, Kiyoshi and Ayoko!"
The crowd cheered once more as fireworks were set off and each guilds crest was displayed in the sky.
"Four challenges have been set up for the wizards, four challenges that will test their performance, agility and magic. Each wizard will be scored accordingly to how they react to each challenge given to them. There will be only one challenge per day this is so the wizards can rest between each battle. Which ever two wizards gets the highest score on the forth challenge will win a place in Kingdom Hall" Chapati explained to the crowd and wizards
"Cool, Cool, Cool...! I think the Wolfclaw twins will show us some powerful moves...!" Jason jumped around
"Yes I am certain they will but I also believe the Fairy Tail twin's could show us their expectational talent" Yajima added with a little smile
"It seems the other two judges are very excited to see how each set of twins will do, but we must not forget Meghan and Yuki who have trained hard to be here to!" Chapati added
"Indeed I believe all the young wizards will show us many new things" Yajima nodded in agreement
The crowd slowly quietened down as Chapati began explaining the first challenge of the games. Erza took a hold of Jellal's hand as she prayed for the twins safety.
"Over the next four days the wizards will be given a challenge, each day there will be a different kind of challenge for them to face. All challenges will be held in individual rooms, the wizards will work alone, by themselves to fight and overcome what ever it is that is placed in the room with them. They will be given only five minutes to destroy the monsters or survive in the room before the stone wall is opened on the other side. Once in the room there is no way out other than the stone wall which lifts only when the time runs out" Chapati explained
"That seems like rather a harsh deal" Jellal mumbled
"What if they can't destroy what is in the room?" Lucy asked, seeming rather nervous
"Then they are trapped until the stone wall opens" Jellal answered
"That sounds awful..."
"What kind of games are these" Natsu frowned, feeling just as anxious and annoyed as everyone else
"All wizards will face the same challenges" Chapati explained
"Tch, there should be a difference, some wizards here won't even be able to face the simplest of monsters" Katio smirked and looked over at Yuki who ignored his comment
The blonde wizard clenched her fist and gritted her teeth as she turned her head away from the Wolfclaw twin
"The name of the first challenge is...The wings of darkness" Chapati informed the crowned
The spectators looked at one another wonderingly, Erza suddenly felt uneasy as the large metal doors to the rooms opened. She swallowed hard and steadied her breathing as she thought about all the kinds of things that could be in the those rooms.
"Wings of dankness...?" Lucy wondered aloud, she to had been puzzled by the name of the game
"The doors to the rooms are now open, wizards step forward and take a room, though there will be the same challenge in each room"
The six wizards stepped forward, claiming their rooms. Kiyoshi glanced over to his sister, giving her a small reassuring smile as he entered the dark, cold room. Ayoko smiled back to him before she to stepped into her room. Once each wizard was in their room Chapati called out once more before the large metal doors were closed, sealing the wizards alone in the dankness.
"The game will begin once the doors are fully closed, the wizards will then be given five minutes to overcome their challenge before the stone wall is opened up on the other side. Will they all survive or will some fall? Is their magic strong enough or have they challenged themselves to early? Only time will tell as we play The Wings of Darkness..."
