"The first game has begun, the doors are closed and the clock has already started ticking, have the wizards inside got what it takes to take on and survive The Wings of Darkness?" Chapati cried as the crowd's cheers came to a silent pause. The large screen, centred in the arena flicked on, there on it was the six wizard who stood alone in their rooms of darkness.
Katio stood motionless as flashes of green light shot into the room, the dark wizard remained still as huge winged flies landed on the soft, warm sand. The Wolfclaw twin rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Really this is it? How boring" he moaned
"It seems Katio is rather displeased with his first challenge" Chapati commented
"He will destroy all of them flies with his dark shadow magic, I'm certain of it, his so cool...!" Jason cheered
Megahn began to hear buzzing behind her, she slowly started to walk backwards as the sound of the winged insects grew closer. There was not light within the rooms, the wizards were in total darkness. Meghan trembled with fear from the sounds of the moving creatures
"P-Please...please let me out" she cried and raced towards the door
The winged creatures sensed her fear, they had exceptional vision in the dark so could see their victims clearly. These beast were no ordinary flies. They were large in size and were well know for spitting acid from the front of their sense's causing their victim's flesh to burn. Though not very smart, when in numbers their attacks were known to be almost fatal.
"Let me out! Let me out" Megahn pleaded as she hammered her fist on the metal door
The Mermaid Heel guild stood, worry and panic filled each one of their faces. Erza looked over at them, she understood their concern, this game was dangerous.
"The doors to the rooms can not be opened, the only way out is the stone wall on the other side which will automatically open after the timer runs out" Chapati explained again
"Meghan needs to gather up her courage and face her fears, each wizard understood the risks before coming here" Yajima added, backing up the comment of the other judge
"This is so cool...!" Jason cried and bounced around in excitement
Ayoko stood to the side, she listened carefully to the sounds around her. She could hear small buzzing noises, she guessed it to be insects of some kind, though unable to see them. She wondered which God she should call upon, Artemis?
"No I can only call for her when the moon is present" Ayoko reminded herself, the Goddess used the moon to source her power and the young wizard knew that by using that God she would take up a lot of her magical strength
Ayoko closed her eyes, she began to concentrate on the memories of her brother. Soon the tattoo over her eye began to glow, the buzzing sounds around her had sensed her presence and had begun to move closer towards her
"I call upon the Goddess, Hera" Ayoko called out
Within a moment the whole room lit up, there stood before the young wizard was the beautiful Goddess, Hera. Ayoko smiled up at the women, feeling safer now she was no longer alone in the room.
"Wow, Cooooooollllll...! That was amazing, Ayoko called upon her Goddess Hera...! How will they defeat the poisoness flies?!" Jason yelled as he flapped his arms about, hardly able to contain himself
"This is pathetic, lets just end it!" Katio frowned as the beast came racing towards him
The dark haired wizard jumped into the air as the creatures came at him, Katio flipped through the air and over the creature, avoiding a direct hit from one of the flies who went smashing straight into one of the four walls. He landed perfectly on the ground, he slowly spun around, a smirk now curling upon his lips.
"Missed me" he taunted
Megahn turned as she realized the door would not open for her, her heart was now racing and her breathing unsteady. She gripped tightly to the handle of the metal door as the beast glared at her with it's big green eyes. She knew her magic was not strong enough to defeat these creatures but that didn't mean she was going to lose, she just needed to stay safe until the time ran out. But she didn't know how much time had passed or how much longer she had left.
"Please, please let me get through this" Meghan prayed quietly as the large beasts came racing towards her, their huge, giant wings flapping
The young girl screamed as she was surrounded by the monsters, she fell to the ground and curled into a ball as they attacked her over and over again, biting her skin and ripping her clothes. She was helpless, totally at their mercy
"This is wrong! Someone stop the game, open the doors!" Kagura, the leader of Mermaid Heel demanded
Her request was ignored as Chapati repeated that nothing could be done until the time was over. There were three minutes reaming. Mermaid Heel watched in horror as one of their own lay helpless. Kagura gritted her teeth and clenched her fist as Meghan's cries echoed the arena.
"What do you wish of me?" Hera asked Ayoko
The young wizard could not hear the cheers or commentary from outside, she was not aware of her friends suffering. The walls around her had been made sound proof so as to make the wizards seem isolated and alone. The idea was to see if they could still survive and complete the challenge without hearing the sounds of encouragement from their guilds.
"I want you to transform, I want you to transform into a bear and destroy these flies" Ayoko ordered
Hera nodded, the bright glow around her began to shine brighter as the Goddess started to transform. Ayoko was now able to see the winged beast from the help of the bright light, she stepped back as she became aware of how close they had gotten to her.
"Do not fear, I will protect you" Hera assured her
The Goddess was now a bear, her thick brown coat covered her muscular structure. Her large padded, black paws supported her weight as she glared at the winged beast with her jet black eyes.
"Stay back" Hera ordered
Within a moment the winged beast came charging forward, ignoring the presence of the bear and concentrating only on Ayoko but Hera would not allow them to pass. She stood up on her two hind legs and roared. She swung her right paw and smashed one bug into the wall. Hera then swung her left paw which caused another winged insect to fall to the floor, Hera stepped forward and crushed the creature with her large foot.
"There's more!" Ayoko cried, she pointed to the side
Hera turned and went racing towards them, grabbing the flies in her mouth and crushing their bodies with her strong jaw, her teeth pierced through their armed body like paper.
"Ah" Ayoko screamed as one of the beast's wings smashed into her, pushing her to the ground.
"Ayoko!" Hera cried and went dashing over to her, just in time to block the last fly from causing the young wizard harm
"She did it...! Cooooooollllll" Jason cried "Ayoko and her bear Goddess defeated all the creatures in the room, that was amazing...!"
Everyone in the arena cheered, Erza and Jellal sighed in relief, their held breathes releasing.
"But Katio still needs to destroy the creatures in his room and there is only one minute to go!" Chapati pointed out
The Wolfclaw twin stood confidently, there was not a single scratch on him from all the jumping and dodging he had been doing.
"Let's end this" he smirked as all the beasts came at him together
Again the raven jumped into the air, flipping backwards he landed on one of the creatures. The beast tried to shake the wizard off but Katio held strong. The young raven took a hold of the creatures large wings, grabbing them from the base before ripping them off the creatures back. The beast cried out in pain as it was de-winged, it fell straight to the ground. Katio jumped off the beast, landing perfectly with the large wings still in his hands.
"W-What, What just happened?!" Jason asked, blinking in disbelief
"Uh..." Chapati was lost for words
The audience to had been shocked by what they had seen, Katio had not used his magic to defeat the beast. Instead he had used his own bare hands to de-wing all of the flies before smashing his fist straight into their heads, killing them instantly.
Katio's father stared down with a pleased look upon his face. The rest of the guild had the same expression across their faces.
"Being a wizard is not only about your magic but also about your physically abilities, though most wizards forget this and become helpless when they do not have a way to use their magic, that's why Wolfclaw is different, because we train our bodies as well as our magic, this way if prey decides to challenge us, its already certain we will destroy them without even using our magic, why waste such a gift on something so pointless. Flies are not worth giving all your effort! That is why Katio did what he did, because there was no point gathering his magic together for some rotten insects that he could simply wipe out with his bare hands" the Wolfclaw twin's father smirked
The buzzer on the clock sounded, the crowd stood as the stone wall on the other side of the rooms began to open. The crowd stood anxiously as they waited for the wizards to appear.
"Thank you Hera" Ayoko smiled as her Goddess slowly faded away
"You did well Ayoko" Hera smiled as her light disappeared
"Both of the Wolfclaw twins are out, Katio and Yori are safe and have beaten all of the flies inside their rooms" Chapati called out
"Yes but what about the young Mermaid Heel wizard, Meghan?" Yajima asked
"Here she is now" Chapati replied as Meghan was carried out of the room by Wendy and Mira "It seems the challenge was to much for Megahn, she failed to complete the task, she is out of the games" Chapati confirmed to the crowd
Ayoko turned and saw her friend, she gasped in horror as she saw the girls opened wounds. Wendy kneeled beside her and started using her healing magic.
"Tch what a waste of time, I honestly thought that would be you Yuki" Katio teased
"Well its one less person to bother about" Yori added, his voice just as cold as his brother's
Kiyoshi looked at the dark wizards, how could they be so cold and heartless. Meghan was out of the games now but still they taunted her.
"Shut up!" Yuki cried "Can't you see she is hurt, there's no need for any of them comments so just shut the hell up!"
Katio frowned and clenched his fist, he gritted his teeth a dark cloud began forming at the bottom of his feet.
"You need to watch how you talk to me" he warned her "I am not forgiving"
"It doesn't matter" Yori held his brother back "She will get what is coming to her but just not here, not now, wait Katio, wait until the time is right"
"Fine, but I promise you now Yuki, even if you beg for me to stop I won't! In fact I'll make the horror of my magic fill you with so much fear you won't ever want to open your eyes"
Yuki turned away from Katio, not wanting to hear his stupid, childish threats. Ayoko placed her hand upon the blonde's shoulder, it was then that Yuki felt a shudder of fear race through her small, petite body. She suddenly felt afraid, she was somehow aware of the darkness that now surrounded her, Yuki did not glance over at Katio for she could already feel his burning eyes piercing through her flesh, what was this magic?...
"Now its time for the scores, both sets of twins have made it through to the next round, along with Yuki"
"Hey don't worry, Meghan will be alright, Wendy is a very good healer and Chelia is there with her now so she will soon be healed" Ayoko gently squeezed her friends shoulder, she could feel Yuki shivering from under her touch
"Thank you Ayoko, I believe in the healing magic of the dragon slayers, I know Meghan will be perfectly alright with them" she smiled
"The scores are as shown" Chapati began speaking as a tally board appeared in the sky to show the crowd and the competing wizards the results of the game
Katio: 8
Yori: 5
Yuki: 7
Meghan: Out
Ayoko: 7
Kiyoshi: 5
"It seems the best wizard of this round was Katio" Yajima pointed out
"It seems so but Yuki and Ayoko are only one point behind and all the other wizards did fairly well to for their first Kingdom Hall challenge" Chapati added with a smile
"So much talent!" Jason cried as he jumped on his chair and cheered down to the young wizards
Kiyoshi smiled and looked over at his sister, Ayoko glanced up at the roaring crowd. She no longer felt the fear she had done earlier on in the day, though the experience of the first game had been scary it had made her much stronger. She knew there was still far more she needed to do before she got into Kingdom Hall. She had to train more, train harder!
Yori glanced up at his father, the man's face was filled with anger. Yori looked away, his heart fell out of rhythm, he had let his guild down. The points he had scored had coursed shame on his family, to his guild. He knew he'd be punished servilely when he returned home, he bit down on his bottom lip as he held his tears, the crowds cheers became muffled as he closed his eyes and tried to drowned himself away from reality.
"Everyone did very well today! Tomorrow the wizards will face another challenge, will all of them pass safely through the stone wall or will another wizard fall? Only time will tell, join us again tomorrow for the Kingdom Hall Games" Chapati spoke out to the crowd
Ayoko smiled and pulled her brother in to a tight hug, Kiyoshi rested his head on her shoulder as he hugged her back, he glanced over at Yori who looked close to tears. The blue haired boy watched as Katio pushed Yori towards the exit, Kiyoshi lowered his head.
"Please just hang in there a little longer, I promise I will safe you Yori, I will win these games for you" he mumbled
"What did you say?" Ayoko asked as she gently pulled her brother out of her arms
"Nothing" he shook his head
Ayoko smiled back and took a hold of his hand, she lifted it into the sky.
"FAIRY TAIL WILL WIN KINGDOM HALL GAMES!" she cried
The crowd's cheers grew louder as they began to chant the guilds name, Kiyoshi stood beside her, his arm outstretched to the sky. It was nice to have the confident Ayoko back, he hated seeing her so scared and worried.
"FAIRY TAIL, FAIRY TAIL, FAIY TAIL" the crowd roared
Tomorrow is the second day of the Kingdom Hall Games, will Kiyoshi and Ayoko make it through another round...?
A/N: Ah, I posted late again . I'm sorry...! I've been really ill the last few days and I just haven't had the energy to do anything...not even to turn on my laptop...But I am getting better, well I feel better today :) My sister normal post if I cannot but she started college this year so she has lots of assignments to do. Anyway what did you guys think of the chapter?...o.O
