No POV
"Six Months? You've only been a Dragon Slayer for six months?" asked a surprised Gajeel, who was somehow managing to stuff his face with food and talk at the same time.
"Yep" Ross replied as he stuffed his own face with a mountain of food, "Not that hard when you're me." Lucy sat beside me, watching in horror as Ross devoured an entire chicken with very little effort.
"Ross, don't you think you may want to slow down? Maybe you too Gajeel.?" asked a worried Lucy. We stopped for a moment, our mouths full of food, and gave her what she perceived as a "crazy glance". After a brief moment of awkward silence, the two Dragon Slayers resumed eating like wild animals. Lucy let out a huge sigh and laid her head onto the table and retreated into her arms.
"Why couldn't I have gotten a team of normal people? Why did they have to be crazy" she said in an exhausted voice. Oh, and remember that blue blur that tackled Ross last chapter?
"*laughs* Juvia wouldn't call them crazy Lucy. Juvia would call them different" Yep, that's right, the water mage Juvia has entered the fray. Apparently she had mistaken Ross's cold aura for Gray's. After she had realized she had tackled the wrong person she quickly apologized, and for some reason offered Ross the opportunity to punish her, if you know what I mean(laughs). The reason why she had wanted to tackle Gray was because of his and his fellow teammates' blunt decision to kick Lucy off of their team. When she heard this, part of Lucy believed that it wasn't necessary, although the rest of her wished that she'd beat him black and blue. "It's kinda romantic when you think about it Lucy"
"Huh? What's romantic." asked a confused Lucy
"Juvia believes that Lucy is in love with Natsu, but cannot express her true feelings for him since she is no longer on his team. She searches for a way to make her true notice her, and then one day on a mission she finds it, in another man! You're trying to make Natsu jealous aren't you." said Juvia
"WHAT?!" exclaimed Lucy, "That's ridiculous, I not trying to make that jerk jealous."
"Oh, really?" Juvia paused for a moment, looked at the two dragon slayers trying to kill each other by stuffing enormous amounts of food down their gullets, then back to Lucy, "Juvia is confused. Why is do you have him here then?"
"*sigh* he offered to work with me as a partner. He also wanted to form a team a couple others. Looks like Gajeel had the same thing in mind" said Lucy
"Oh that's right, JUvia wanted to ask you if you wanted to come with Juvia and Gajeel on a mission. Juvia thought you could use the company since you've spent the last month sulking around the guild"
"Gee, thanks Juvia" said Lucy, sinking back in her seat.
"Oh, your friend came come along if he wants. IN fact, he'd be perfect for this specific job." Lucy looked confused.
"Oh really what's the job?" she asked
"This is the job" Gajeel, out of no where, shoved his hand right in Lucy's face, holding a job request form in it's hand. Lucy inspected the flyer, being Titled: WANTED" Group of mages needed in order to stop volcano from erupting and destroying town. PLEASE HURRY!Lucy had a look of absolute horror on her face after reading the first half.
"Are you two insane?' said an astonished Lucy, "IN what sort of way could you and Gajeel alone could take on a fully active volcano?! That's suicide."
"Which is why Juvia and Gajeel came to you, and apparently your new friend. So, will you do it?" asked Juvia
"Forget it, there's no way in hell that i'm going on a mission as-" Lucy stopped in mid-sentence and took another glance at the job flyer. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw how much of a reward the job offered: REWARD: 10,000,000 Jewel. It wasn't even an S-Class mission.
"10,000,000 JEWEL! That's incredible. I'll do it!" she said ecstatically
"Really, are you sure Lucy, because just a second ago JUvia thought she heard-"
"Oh yeah that,pffft, that was sulking Lucy. Now I'm excited Lucy! And who knows, maybe i'll live long enough to pay my rent."
"Then it's settled" said Ross getting up on the table, holding a jug of ale in his left hand, in a heroic pose, "From this day forward, all four of us are a team. I Hereby declare this team: TEAM LUCY!" he said. LUcy had a sparkle of glee in her eyes. The team was named after her, she hasn't felt this overjoyed since she joined Fairy Tail. Although her joy quickly turned to concern when she saw that Ross was unsteady on his feet.
"Uh is he okay? He looks as though he's going to-" Ross dropped the jug he was holding, started walking backwards, and fell right off the end of the table.
"Yep" said Gajeel, still munching on a leg of meat, "That kid can't handle his liquor, *laughs*"
"Yep, I can already see that his is going to end very badly." said Lucy
"LUCY" said a loud booming voice coming from above. She looked up and saw Master Makarov standing on one of the beams of the roof.
"Oh Master, there you are. What are you doing up there, exactly?" asked Lucy
"I climbed up her because it's much cooler up here. I also wanted to talk to your new teammate down there" he said pointing to a passed out Ross, "but apparently he's unavailable at the moment. WHen he comes to, tell him to come to my office, I wish to speak with him." Makarov then jumped from the beam over to the second floor and disappeared.
"What do you think he wants to talk to Snowman here" said Gajeel.
"Not sure, but it can't be good."
30 Minutes Later
"Ok he's not waking up, Juvia splash some cold water on him"
*SPLASH*
"AH, OH GOD, OH GOD, WE'RE SINKING. EVERYBODY GET TO THE DAMN LIFEBOAT" I said in a drunken stupor, although that lasted about 10 more seconds before Lucy literally slapped it out of me. "Oww what the- oh god my head, why does it hurt so much"
"Well that could be from the hangover from the ungodly amount of ale you just chugged, or it may be the fact that you fell off of the table in a drunken stupor." said Lucy in a joking tone.
"Nice going human, you managed to make a idiot out of yourself once again, and you didn't even need to make an effort to do so this time" said Bellaruse
"You talking is not helping Bellaruse. Gah, god damnit" I held my hand out and chanted, "SNOWBALL" out of nowhere a ball of snow appears in my hand, and stuck my head inside of it.
"Ross, Juvia is wondering why you stuck your head inside of a giant snowball, and frankly so am I" said Lucy
"I use the snow I can produce and gather from nature to heal myself. The Injury could range from a minor headache to a nasty gash. Although the latter would take much longer to heal, but still." I said
"Well maybe it you should take that off and get upstair, the master wants to speak to you" she said. Immediately I smashed my fist through the chuck of snow, shaking off any remaining snow in the process
"The Master, why would he want to talk to me, I just joined the guild like not even an hour ago." I said
"I don't know why, but he asked for you personally. I wouldn't keep him waiting" Yeah, neither would I, I don't wanna get pounded into the side of the building by Master Makarov's Titan Fist. *Insert image of me being punched into the wall*. Anyway, I flew up to the second floor using my wings and made my way over to Makarov's office. I knocked on the door and Master Makarov answered with a: "Come in son" I walked in and saw the short guild master standing in front of the window sill.
"You wanted to see me sir? Did I do something wrong….already?" I said in a somewhat joking manner, but it was mostly concerned.
"Not at all. Please have a seat" he replied, so I did, "I see you've become acquainted with Lucy, yet you barely know anything about her. Tell me, why is that?" Oh, if only I could tell the master how much I really knew, but he wouldn't believe me anyway, or think I was crazy.
"I've seen what's she been through, especially recently, when her team kick her off and replaced her." I said
"She told you about that?" he asked.
"She didn't need to, I saw it in her head. And to be fair, I was already on my way to join Fairy Tail, finding a partner was just an added bonus."
"So you feel bad for her, that's why you decided to be her new partner?"
"No sir, it's not just that." the master rose an eyebrow to that statement, "I see something in Lucy, she seems like a good person. She also may have helped me stop a raging fire from melting the snow on top of Mt. Hakobe and possibly flooding the town" and he cringed at that one too, but he quickly shrugged it off, but something told me that I may need to worry about that later on.
"You must understand my need to ask about young man. The other members of the guild are like children to me, and I must make sure no one tries to hurt them."
"I Understand, I would do the same thing in your place"
"Good, then you'll agree to what I'm about to ask you then."
"Master?" I asked in a confused tone
"I want you to look after Lucy." he said.
"Look after? Is..is there something I don't know about?"
"It started when about a week after Natsu, Erza and Gray, her former teammates, kicked her off of their team: When she told me that she was planning to leave Fairy Tail." Leave...Fairy Tail?
"Why? Why would she leave, at first glance, even without her teammates, it looks like she's got a lot of friends" I said.
"At first glance yes, but to be fair, you haven't been here long enough to know what was really going on" THe tone in his voice began to shift, now he sounded like he was in pain. "WHile I am glad that one of our former members, Lisanna Strauss, I'm upset about the way they have treated Lucy." He kept going, but I didn't listen, I didn't need to. I knew what he was talking about, i've seen this type of thing before, well, at least I think I have. The images are foggy in my head, but back in my world, I read fanfiction stories about how when Lisanna came back, Team Natsu kicks her the team, then she leaves Fairy Tail to get stronger. But what's different is that she hasn't left the guild yet, and then there's me. I wonder, if she hadn't met me, would she have left by now? I was so deep in thought that I hadn't even noticed that the master had finished speaking.
"Ross, did you hear me?" he asked in a slightly aggravated tone
"Yes, I did. I understand where you're coming from, and based upon what i've seen inside her head, I agree. But even though I haven't said these exact words, i've already promised to Lucy that I would protect her." Master Makarov seemed a little surprised to hear me say this, "Yeah, I get that look a lot, complete stranger decides to join with a girl who just so happens to be in the same guild he want to join."
"*laughs* you know, I see a lot of similarities between you and Lucy. according to Natsu, your story is actually similar to how Lucy joined Fairy Tail, and continues to be when you decided to form a team with some of the other guildmates, but that's where it ends, at least for now." I could see where he was going with this.
"I don't plan on replacing Lucy master, that's the difference between me and this Natsu guy. I will never let anything happen to Lucy. I understand if you don't trust me. I'd be the same way if I was in your place." That was the last thing that I said, then I got up and started walking to the door, and I was opening the door, the master said one more thing to me
" Ross WInterheart" I turned back, expecting to hear some kind of threat, you know, 'If you do anything to hurt a member of my guild, i'll make you regret it' But what he actually said, shocked me even more, "Good Luck, i'm sure you'll make a fine teammate" Then he gave me a warm smile, I exited the room. He must've believed the sincerity in my voice. I just wish I could tell them why I believe in what I said, they at least deserve the truth.
Writer's Notes- I'm so sorry everyone for the writing hiatus, my computer's OS was damaged, so it took awhile to get it repaired. But don't worry, that's over and done with, i'm back. ANyway, in the next chapter, the newly formed Team Lucy starts to prepare for their Job. Hopefully it'll go well
