Chapter 21: Routine

Keith sat alone on a bench in one of Beacons many hallways, a small bottle of water in his hand. He was dressed in his PT kit, sweat rolling down his face. He held the tip of the bottle to his lips and drank for a few seconds before taking it away. He looked around at the empty hallway, lockers lining the wall. At the end of the hall a vending machine stood. Keith looked at his watch and stood up.

6:30am

He sighed as he began to head towards his dorm. He exited the main doors to see a squad of men, all dressed in PT like Keith, jog past. Keith gave a smile, many of the troops that were meant to be stationed at Beacon were meant to be moving towards a make-shift base on the outskirts of Vale. He and his squad along with a small contingency of soldiers would be staying behind at Beacon. Keith sighed as he walked past a line of M1 Abrams that stood silent; their crews were mostly likely still asleep or out doing their morning routine.

As Keith finally made it to his room he found it empty. 'Must still be out' He thought as he walked into the bathroom.

Maddie and Derik sat talking, pieces of toast in their hands. The cafeteria was empty save for a few early-risers and some of the soldiers. Derik looked around them. "Looks like everyone's having a lie-in." He said with a smirk.

"Classes don't start till 9:00. They can sleep all they like. Hey, you know where Uri and the others are?" Maddie asked.

"Most of them went to the library; the sergeant is still on his run I think."

"Why they there?"

"Trying to learn something, I don't know." Derik remarked. The cafeteria door opened and Keith walked inside, showered and dressed in his gear without his armour and weapons. "Hey sergeant, how was PT?"

"Alright, where are the others?" The sergeant asked.

"Library." Maddie one-lined as she stuffed a piece of toast in her mouth. Keith looked around the cafeteria.

"Looks like we're not the only morning risers." Keith stated.

"Yeah, hey sir? Me and Maddie were thinking of attending one of those combat classes they have, just to watch." Derik asked.

"I don't mind, as long as you two keep out of trouble." Keith stated with a glare at Maddie, who raised her hands slightly in defence.

"Hey, it wasn't my fault last time." Maddie stated.

"You got us kicked out of a cinema because you kept yelling 'Kill the bad guy' at the film." Derik laughed.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's just change the subject." Maddie said a slight hint of embarrassment in her voice.

Derik and Maddie sat in the back of one of the combat classrooms, watching Yang face off against an orange-haired girl with a giant hammer. At that moment in time Yang was getting hit into the side of the arena. "Damn, these girls can fight…" Derik said with a smile on his face, Maddie sat next to him with a stare.

"I still don't get how they're not getting hurt. She just flung into a wall but she gets up like nothing!" Maddie pointed out with her eyes still on Yang as she punched the girl in the face. "And don't get me started on how she fit shotguns into a bracelet."

"Seems you still have a lot to learn from this world." Both of them turned to see Professor Ozpin behind them. "Shouldn't you be with your squad?"

"Our sergeant allowed us to come and watch." Derik nodded as he turned back to watch the fight.

"I see… How has your stay been here at Beacon?" Ozpin asked, Maddie raised an eyebrow at the question.

"It's been alright, the cafeteria foods good, much better than bootcamp." Maddie said, Ozpin nodding before excusing himself and walking out the class, leaving the two Brits alone and confused.

Nick walked along one of Beacons corridors trying, and failing, to get through the large crowds of students who were off to their next classes. He sighed as he was pushed into a wall. "Stupid idiot doesn't know when…" He mumbled to himself angrily as he attempted again to push through the crowd to his objective. As he reached the other side of the corridor he yelled in victory about getting through. He turned to what he was after only to see something that shattered his pride instantly.

You see, his objective was to get to the vending machine on the other side to get a drink. However now that he was over to it, a young girl with long brown hair and brown eyes standing in front of it, placing a lien note inside. The girl had large bunny ears as well. He began to shake as he stared at the scene, the girl turning towards him when she noticed him. "Are you alright?" She asked shyly. Nick did something unexpected of a British soldier and yet out a yell and smacked his fists into the wall in anger.

He stood there for what felt like an eternity as he breathed heavily. Suddenly a purple can popped into his view. He turned to see the girl holding it to him. "You looked mad so…" The girl started "I got you this…" The girl blushed heavily. Nick stared at her for a few seconds before taking the can and mumbling a thank you. He opened it and took a swig of the beverage. The girl turned to walk away but she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned her head to see it was Nick's hand. She turned to face him as he took his hand off her shoulder and use it to rummage in his pocket. He pulled out a 5 lien note and held it towards her.

"I need to repay you for the drink." He stated with a smile. She sheepishly took the note from him.

"Thank you." She blushed a heavy red and went to go.

"Wait!" Nick yelled, the girl back to him. "I never got your name."

"Oh, sorry…" She stated in shock and embarrassment. "My names Velvet, Velvet Scarlatina." She bowed her head slightly.

"Hello Velvet, my names nick. Have a good day." And with that, nick turned and walked away leaving heavily blushing Velvet in his wake.

The squad of soldiers sat together at lunch with team RWBY and their dorm room neighbours team JNPR. Nick chewed on a piece of bread as the group chatted. "And then Ruby went flying!" Yang said as the group laughed. It also meant Yang telling stories about her and Ruby's childhoods. Nick sighed as he looked at Maddie, who sat next to him, chatting to Daniel.

Suddenly his hearing picked up a voice he had only recently just heard. "Please stop, that hurts." He looked up and around to find a group of four boys pulling on that girl, Velvets, bunny ears. He slammed his hands on the table and stood up, everyone on the table looking at him. The honourable man inside him was making him come to her rescue. He walked over towards the group as the one who was pulling Velvets ears turned to talk to one of his friends. When he turned back around to bully her more he found Nick standing in front. "Who the hell are you?" The boy asked, he had grey hair. Nick noticed one of the other boys seemed to not like what they were doing to Velvet; he was a large boy with brown hair that reminded Nick of Grease for some reason.

"Leave the girl alone." Nick said in a threatening tone, his voice sounding like thunder.

"And if we don't?" One of the other boys, he had a large spiked Mohawk type haircut.

"You'll have to deal with me." Nick responded.

"Oh I'm so scared! Ohhh…" The first boy said sarcastically while his 2 other friends laughed, the brown haired boy just gave him a death stare. The sound of a gun cocking made everyone go quite. The boy turned to see the barrel of a pistol held to his forehead. Maddie held the gun up.

"He forgot to mention you'll have to face his squad as well." She gave a small smile as the others came over, Daniel cracking his knuckles. The boys were now cowering in fear as the brown haired boy gave a smirk. "Now git!" Maddie yelled as the boys yelled in terror and ran out of the cafeteria.

Nick could have sworn he'd seen Daniel sadden at the fact he didn't get to hit someone. 'Your one weird person Daniel…' Nick thought before turning towards Velvet. She smiled at him and the others as he did. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, thank you." She said shyly, again blushing. 'She blushes too much. I wonder why?' Nick thought to himself "I didn't know you were one of those soldiers."

"Yeah, I think we were one of the first people to get here." Nick smiled. "Where's your team?"

"I had a free period while they had classes, so I came to lunch…" She dragged off slowly at the end.

"Well then, why don't you come sit with us?" Nick replied, she looked up at him and almost beamed happiness.

Uri set a book down on his desk in the library. He had been researching Remnants medical history and how it was different from his worlds. He yawned as he grasped a small cup of coffee he had from lunch still. He took a swig before diving back into the book. A few minutes later he felt someone standing over him, he looked up to see the Blackhawks pilot, Beth, standing over him. Uri finally realized he could see her hair; she normally wore a hat or something to cover her hair. She had long, silky, cherry red hair and blue eyes. "Hi." Beth smiled at him, her smile was sweet and warming inside of him. He then noticed she held a cup of coffee in her hand. "I thought you would need another coffee."

"Thank you." Uri stated as took the coffee from her and placed it on the table. They began to talk as the day turned into night and long into it.

AN: I know its short but I couldn't really think about what was happening at the end. Guys, below this AN is a trailer, so to speak, of a new idea of mine and I wanted your opinion on it. Please be as truthful as possible, tell me if you like it or hate it. It is a crossover with RWBY but if you can guess what its a cross with, I'll shout you out in the next chapter.

In the city of Vale, a young man with short brown hair walked along the road. The man had a sense of authority about it. He had brown eyes that would bore through someone with ease. He wore a blue t-shirt and jeans with running shoes. The man walked along until he turned into a alley to face another man. The man focused his stare on the man in front of him. This one had a sandy hair and blue eyes, he wore a sleeveless blazer and shorts. "What are you doing here?!" the first man stated, his voice hard and held a hint of anger in it.

"What, can't I visit a friend?" The second man stated as he began to walk forward. "And 'She's' told me to come get you."

"What does 'She' want now?" The first man stated.

The second man stopped next to the first man and placed a hand on his left shoulder. "Theirs a meeting going on in a coffee shop across town. The other two are meeting their as well. And she really wants you to come."

"Vacuo, I said i wouldn't speak to you lot till the next meeting, which is in two years." The first man stated.

The man, now known as Vacuo sighed. "I Know, but Atlas wants you there, its a emergency meeting." He stated. He took his hand off his shoulder and walked past. He stopped at the end of the alley. "Vale, you should come, I know Mistral misses you." And with that Vacuo turned right and walked down the road, leaving a saddened man in the alley.

With a Sigh, the man known as Vale turned back to where Vacuo left. "I hate being a Kingdom..." And with that he followed left...
