"Kate you're pregnant"
And a tear rolled down her face, as she placed a hand on her stomach a faint heartbeat echoed on her hand and her eyes closed.
"Lanie how did I not notice this before, what am I going to do"
"Maybe you didn't want to, but now you have to start, you need to start eating better, and I'll give you the number to my OBGYN"
Kate nodded her head
"Lanie you can't tell anyone, if this news gets to captain or castle, I'll be put off the field"
"Girl you're pregnant you cannot go into things like that you're risking their life"
"Lanie, I'm fine my stomach isn't showing yet and I can still move quickly, look I'll tell them soon just not yet.
And before she could say anything else the door opened and Kate ran off to hide the three tests. When she returned Lanie and Martha were having a conversation.
"Oh hi Martha"
"Well I'm off bye Kate, bye Martha "
And Lanie left
"Hi kiddo, how come you're home so early?"
"I wasn't feeling well"
"Oh are you feeling better now?"
"Yea probably just needed a break"
At least it wasn't a complete lie
"I got some Italian food want some?"
Kate scrunched up her nose, something about the smell was making her stomach upset.
"Martha I'll be right back"
She hurried up the stairs cleaning her stomach out and she came back breathing through her mouth.
"Everything okay?"
"Yep"
The next person to come home was Alexis at least she didn't bring something to eat, she was grinning and gave both Kate and her grandmother a hug.
"Ashley invited me to dinner at Draugo, for our one year anniversary "
Martha smiled
"Honey that's great"
Kate frowned
"Where'd he get the money for that"
"He's been working part time, and he said I could order anything you have to help me choose a dress Kate"
"Uh okay"
And in walked Castle with his sun glasses in his hand.
"I'm home, Kate? You're home early"
He said hanging his coat on the rack
"Yea I needed a break, wasn't feeling well"
"Oh you look kinda pale"
"I feel better now"
He looked at her suspiciously but before he could question her further Alexis walked out
"Hey dad, guess what Ashley's taking me to Draugo"
"Isn't that place mega expensive, the soup is 45 dollars, where's he gonna get that kind of money from?"
"He's been saving dad"
They decided to watch a movie and halfway through Kate fell asleep, Castle stared at her worriedly, he'd never seen her like this before.
The next morning Kate left early, she couldn't risk throwing up at home, she left castle a letter saying she was feeling better and was going to work and to enjoy his meeting. They had never talked about having children how was she supposed to tell him she was pregnant. She read over the notes that Ryan and Esposito had made, rolling her eyes when she looked up and saw Lanie sitting in Castle's chair.
"Girl you look terrible"
"Gee thanks"
"How are you and don't lie"
"I woke up this morning feeling tired and sick, everything makes me throw up and, I can't drink coffee I feel great"
She said sarcastically
Esposito walked up with a cinnamon roll and gave it to Laine
"What are you doing back Beckett? You still look pale"
"I'm fine"
"You don't look fine"
She looked up
"Well I'm fine"
"You don't"
She cut him off and snapped
"Javier I'm fine okay!"
Her outburst caused several heads to look at them. She never called him Javier it was always Javi, Esposito or Espo.
"Look sorry Javi , I'm just a little on edge today"
It was 11 and she still wasn't focusing she just closed her eyes for a few seconds.
"Is she okay? What happened?"Castle asked
Ryan's voice was soft
"I don't know but it has to be serious she never falls asleep at work"
"Take her home, let her rest until Monday" Montgomery said
She started to stir and opened her eyes
"Beckett go home, I don't want to see you until Monday"
"Sir"
"Beckett that's an order"
As soon as the elevators closed, castle turned to her.
" Kate what's going on?"
