Someone recently told me that I was spelling Lanie wrong, I am very sorry for that. My best friend's name is also Lanie but it is spelt Laine.
Now on with the story.
It had been a long and very tiring week, and all Kate wanted to do was sleep. She awoke to Castle gently tapping her.
" Come on Kate, wake up, you slept through your alarm again, your appointment is in two hours" he said gently nudging her.
She turned her back to him, pulled the covers over her head and groaned.
"Ugh, just six more hours"
Castle laughed " In six hours you would've missed your appointment, now come on breakfast is ready."
She walked down the stairs her hair all over the place, and sat on the stool next to Martha trying to stay awake.
"So dear going to see my grandchild today, for the first time? "
"Yep and don't worry, I remember that you want a picture" Kate said before she could ask again.
Alexis played with her fingers "Hey Kate do you don't mind, can I have one of the pictures? You know just for keepsake."
Kate looked up clearly surprised "Yes, of course"
"Oh my gosh! You will get huge." Castle exclaimed, looking at the pictures in a book, with what to expect when pregnant.
She snatched the book from him. "Rick, shut up."
Then her face turned serious, "Rick, I drank with them, and I was still on birth control when I got pregnant."
Castle held her hand. "Kate, they'll be okay, if they have a quarter of your genes they'll be okay."
"Katherine Castle." The nurse called.
They followed the nurse in to a room and she gave Kate a robe to change into, while they waited for the doctor.
"Rick stop playing with the birth canal." Kate said walking out, just as the door opened.
"Hello I'm Dr John, your doctor." A tall woman with black hair greeted, and shook their hands.
"Okay, so let's get started, you came just in time we just changed our gel to something warmer." She placed the gel on her stomach, put on the remote and the monitor turned on. "There they are." She said pointing to the tiny figure on the screen. "I'll say you're around, two and a half months."
Kate didn't even notice the tear running down her eye. That meant she got pregnant, when they went to Hampton to get away from the crazy wedding plan, and now she was responsible for the thing in her stomach the size of an apple. She looked at Castle his eyes glued to the screen, but then he looked down at her giving her a large grin.
"Well that's it" the doctor said, "I'll go tell Kerry to have you're pictures ready and I'll see you next month, congratulations you have a very healthy baby. When the doctor left the room was silent.
"Oh my gosh Rick, I'm going to be a mom" Kate said putting on her shoes.
He helped her off the bed "And a great one at that."
They walked up to the receptionist, who already had their things ready: a few magazines on pregnancy and a prescription to help with the morning sickness.
I'll see you next month, Mr and Mrs Castle and I'll have that book for you to sign next time. Castle smiled at the overly excited receptionist.
She arrived at the precinct 30 minutes later, Ryan was the first to spot her "Hey boss taught you weren't coming in today."
But Esposito cut him off, "Are you drinking tea!?"
Kate mentally slapped herself for forgetting to dispose of the tea bag," Yes it is, I wanted something different." They looked at her suspiciously and even she knew it was a poor excuse, so she was glad when her phone rang, but it was just Castle asking her if she was okay and if she wanted anything. They were yet to tell the boys and Captain that she was pregnant, and now he was really starting to bug her about, her and the baby's safety although, she said she was still strong and could protect herself.
She lasted three days before she cracked.
