So in this fanfic, Dirk and Bro are kind of combined in one person. So. Yeah.
Sorry for the long wait.

Dave was about to explode.
Since he was a devil, he wasn't allowed in heaven, unless he snuck in of course. But if he was caught, the chances of him seeing John would drop dramatically, and he couldn't risk that at all.
"Lil man, stop pacing." Dirk's eye twitched as he watched his younger brother pace around the entire edge of the burning lava volcano. He sighed as steam puffed up and passed over Dave, the sweltering air having no effect on him. Devils didn't feel any kind of heat.
"I can't! I have to see him!" The younger blonde was overcome with emotion for a second and struggled to regain his composure again. He blinked hard and took a deep breath before his face became a cool mask once more.
Dirk rolled his eyes, saying, "Calm your shit. When the gathering starts he'll be there. That is, if his wing is fixed." He shrugged.
Dave's jaw clenched and he sighed wearily. As soon as John had passed out, the angel and devils of higher power restrained Gamzee, and John was flew back up to Heaven to be admitted directly into the hospital ward.
Dave was forced back down to hell, and was informed that John was going to survive. They didn't tell him anything about John's wing healing. He had almost strangled the devil, but his brother had restrained him.
He knew Dirk was having his own issues with Jake. He had seen the green-eyed boy fly off with tears in his eyes, which was pretty unusual. With another sigh, he rubbed his temple.
It was only an hour until the gathering started. Dave flew down to wait at the highest point of Hell so he could be one of the first at the gathering.
When John woke up, everything was white. Which wasn't unusual, as he assumed he was in Heaven. A smiling nurse bustled over and handed him a glass of water and helped him sit up as she described his predicament.
"You broke your wing in several places, the most severe being near your back." She explained. John quickly tried to stand, only to give a cry of pain and sink onto his knees on the floor. There was a burning pain in his back, and he assumed it was his folded, healing wing.
"Will I be able to fly again?" He asked in worry, biting his lip, his eyes wide. The nurse hesitated, and fear flickered across his face.
"Oh, don't worry! You will be able to fly, honey, just not for a few weeks." She was quick to tell him. John relaxed a little, but was still frowning.
After a few hours, he was allowed leave the ward after a series of tests. He was back in his own house after a while. As he sat on his fluffy white bed, he suddenly remembered seeing red eyes just before passing out. He jumped up and looked at the clock. The gathering had started a few minutes ago. Before he left, John checked his messages to see that he had a bunch from Jade and two from Tavros. He'd check them later.
He had a service angel fly him down to the gathering, where a few of the devils gave him odd looks and the angels seemed to be looking and whispering about him. He slipped through the ground, wincing slightly at the pain in his back. Looking around for Dave, his search proved to be fruitless.
He stood a little ways from the mass of angels and devils, sighing a little. If Dave wasn't here, he might as well go back to Heaven. He glanced back at the mass as he walked over to his carrier angel.
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder. Whirling around (which was stupid because his shoulder gave another jolt of pain), he met a concerned gaze with striking red eyes.
"Thank god you're ok." Dave breathed out as he stared at John. He bit his lip and sighed. He hadn't forgotten Dave's love confession.
"Hi." He said after a short pause, nibbling on his lower lip. Dave honestly looked worried; he had dark circles under his eyes and his red eyes were full of emotion.
"How is your wing?" The blonde asked as he gently took the angel into his arms. John immediately hugged back, melting into the embrace. He relaxed in the warmth of the other, trying not to cry.
"It'll be ok. I can fly in a couple of weeks." John responded to the question after a pause. Dave nodded and stepped back. In one swift motion, he had scooped the angel into his arms and was flying up to the edge of the cliff. John didn't protest; he just flinched slightly at the pressure being applied to his back.
Dave sat him down on the edge, the ebony's legs dangling off the edge. He sat right behind him and folded his legs around John's waist. He leaned back against Dave with a soft sigh.
"I think I love you too." John whispered after a pause. Dave's eyes lit up. But he didn't push it. He leaned down, and ever so delicately placed a kiss on the mop of messy black hair.
John tilted his head back to look up at him with a small. Dave smiled back, ghosting his lips over John's forehead. A light blush dusted the ebony's cheeks.
Of course, the peaceful mood was quickly shattered.
From below came screams and cries. Dave quickly stood as he pulled John up as well. They stared down at the gathering, and when they saw fire, John squeaked in fear.
Devils were immune to fire, but if even a flicker of a flame touched an angel, they would dissolve on the spot. Dead. Nada. Zilch.
"John, let's—JOHN!"
As Dave had been trying to unfold his wings, John had tried to do the same, remembering too late that he couldn't fly. He tripped back, crying out in pain as he fell off the back of the cliff.
Dave lunged for him, but it was too late. John's frame was already falling to the ground far below, plummeting towards the roaring flames.
Cliff hanger hehe x3 Sorry for mistakes!
Review maybe?
