Six weeks since she had given birth to the perfect bundle that was sleeping in the crib, she stood looking at her, her chest rising and falling, her pink lips in a tiny o.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

She turned towards the door to see Castle walking towards her.

"Nothing I just wanted to look at her." Kate answered nervously.

He knew she wasn't telling the full truth, so he waited a little while.

"It's just that... she's going to be getting her first shots today."

"And?" Castle asked not quite understanding.

"She's growing up so fast Castle soon, she'll be getting teeth and walking." Her eyes were holding tears.

He walked behind her and started to massage her shoulders.

"Kate she's one month she has a long time before we have to worry about her leaving us."

"But she's already starting to lift her head."

"Kate it's okay, now it's 5'oclock and you need some sleep tomorrow is going to be a long day."

And he led her out of the room.

Kate woke up at 8 the next morning when she heard Rebecca fussing she walked into the nursery and she immediately stopped fussing these were some of the best moment for her as a mother when she was younger the simple smell of her mother's shirt could calm her down and she really wanted to have a bond like she had with her mother.

"Hey, Becca sweetie, time to get ready." Becca just looked at her giving her a small smile.

She filled up the tub with water and began to bath her baby, little did she know that Castle was watching them. Castle loved to watch Kate with Becca, she was a natural when it came to mother hood he watched as Becca looked at her mother lovingly while Kate sang to her, she always had a nice voice but he hardly ever heard it, so he savoured the short times that he heard it.

"Hey." She greeted putting Becca on her hooded towel.

"How long were you standing there?"

"Long enough, to hear your lovely singing." She blushed, he loved that he had that power over her still.

He started packing the baby bag.

"we're definitely going to need the baby panadol."

When they reached the paediatrician's office Kate was surprised, usually these types of offices were noisy but here was very quiet she sat down in one of the plush chairs .Kate sat down with Becca who was sleeping while Castle went to sign in. He walked back to them and sat down.

"We're all set, turns out I haven't lost my popularity yet."

Kate shifted Becca "What do you mean?"

"Well the guards are currently warding off a few fans that are waiting for us to come out, most of them are photographers."

Kate rolled her eyes they weren't in that situation since they were dating, but then again his new book was being released in a few months and the new Nikki Heat movie had just come out a week ago.

"Well you have to expect these things when you have a cute baby."

Castle laughed. "That is true."

A nurse walked out with a clipboard and pen. "Rebecca Castle." They stood up and followed the nurse into a room she hadn't even notice that Becca was already awake.

"Hi I'm Kelly, I'm just gonna weigh and measure your little precious here then the doctor will be right with you."

"Thank you, Kelly." Castle responded.

The blonde giggled. "You're welcome Mr Castle, I'm a huge fan if you don't mind a few friends and I have some books we would like you to sign."

"Of course, just let me finish with this appointment then I'll sign then."

"Okay." She smiled and left the room.

"I guess you haven't lost you're charm either." She quipped, but before he could respond the door opened again.

"Hi I'm doctor Johnson I'll be looking after this sweetheart, I'll just give her a check up then I'll get right to the shots, she looked at the slip that Kelly had given her.

"Wow 8 pound 7 ounces, I take it she's eating well." Kate smiled and the doctor out stretched her hand for Becca and she began to fuss but calmed down when she saw both her and Castle next to them.

She checked her ears and her tongue then her temperature and the she checked her reflexes and her eyes.

"Well your daughter is the picture of perfect health we just need to give her the shot then you can go."

Kelly walked back into the room with a metal tray with the shots, medication, and two band aids.

Kate's eyes watered as she watched the nurse wipe both of her legs with a cotton ball and took up one of the sticks, she just wanted to pick her baby up and go home but she couldn't.

Becca started crying before the needle had fully pierced her first leg, she watched as the nurse held down her tiny arms and leg to give her the drops then it was over, and she was able to go pick up her baby and she quickly did so, the nurse gave her a shot of panadol.
She didn't calm down until the ride home then she fell asleep.

"I don't think I can do that again."

"Do what?" Castle asked.

"Stand up and watch her get shot again."

Castle smiled he went through the same thing with Alexis.

"I know how it is, but it's for their health."

She sighed "I know but, it's just like she was in pain and I stood there and watched it."

"Kate, you didn't hurt her."

"I know but I just want to hold her and protect her from the world forever."

He held her hand at the stop light.

"Kate you can't protect her forever, eventually you'll have to let her leave the nest."

"Oh you mean like how you're letting Alexis leave the nest?" she quipped.

"Hey I'm learning day by day." He smiled at her.

"Feel better now?"

"Yea." She sighed.

"If you're like this now imagine when she gets to her wild child phase."

Kate's head shot up, the fear clearly in her eyes.

"What?"
