Chapter Twenty
Their time in the past was the last time anyone saw the Green Ranger, at least that version of the Green Ranger. It was also that last time anyone held the Green Ranger's power for many years. It was for certain, that Angel Grove didn't have to worry about the evil Green Ranger or his zord attacking.
The following day the Rangers were at school and they were relieved that the evil was gone and peace reigned for another day. Zordon had made sure that the Wizard of Deception's wand was destroyed once and for all. There would be no more evil clones of any of the Power Rangers anytime soon. That was a huge comfort. Everything was right with the world. Adam even met a girl who reminded him of Marissa. All in all, it was a happy ending for everyone.
Later that night, Kimberly and Tommy were standing on Kimberly's back porch. Tommy had been invited for dinner. They had just finished eating. Ms. Hart had insisted on cleaning up. She claimed it had been a long time since she had washed a dish (true) and wanted to give Kimberly a small break from the chore. But the two teenagers had a feeling that Kim's mother sensed that they wanted to be alone before Tommy had to go home.
"So, he just decided to stay there?" Kim asked after Tommy had told her how he and his doppelganger had defeated the giant rats.
"He felt as if he had no place here," Tommy said.
"Well, he did have a point," Kim said reasonably. "It's not like you can come home with another you and your parents would just take him in without wanting answers."
Tommy nodded.
"I know," he said. "But a part of me wanted him to stay here, in this time."
Kimberly nodded her understanding. She reached out and touched his arm and rubbed it in a comforting motion.
"I get it," she said softly. "He was literally a piece of you. Leaving him behind, it must have felt like you were giving up a brother."
Tommy smiled down at her. He loved how understanding the Pink Ranger could be. He took her hand and kissed it.
"You know what," he asked with a charming, playful smile.
"What?" Kim returned with her own playful smile.
"You're perfect."
Kimberly blushed and ducked her head, hiding her face behind her hair.
"Nobody's perfect," she said in a little voice. "It's impossible."
Tommy took her head in his hands and brushed back her hair. Then he kissed her softly on the lips.
"Well, you're very close," he said.
Kim's smile widened as she stared up into the White Ranger's eyes.
"You are too," she said confidently and they kissed.
