"You guys know each other?" Maddie asked truly shocked.

"Yes we dated for two months and then she suddenly broke up with me." Tom answered for her.

"Oh, really."

Tom's eyes hadn't left Kate's face since he walked through the door and Castle looked at him suspiciously.

"So, how did you meet?" he asked trying to get his eyes from Kate's face.

"Oh well whenever come to take Kate to lunch I would always see him on the elevator and one day, I was on my way up to take Kate to lunch and we got talking and well here we are." Maddie said smiling at Tom only to see that he was looking at Kate.

"You didn't tell me you met him at the precinct." Kate said finally losing her fake smile.

"It slipped my mind."

"Demming?" Lanie yelled as she and Jenny walked down the stairs and she handed Becca to Kate.

"What are you doing here boy?"

"He is Maddie's new boyfriend." Esposito filled her in.

"Is that your daughter?" Tom asked looking at Becca who was trying to put her grandmother's ring in her mouth.

"Yes she is."

"Wow, you're a mother now." He answered giving her a look that Castle didn't like.

"He's also married, in case if you don't watch Tv or read the newspaper." Castle quipped playing it off with a smile, causing Kate to look at him warning him to back down.

"Well Tom you stay here with the boys the girls and I are going to mingle."

She took Becca from Kate and started to lead them up the stairs, and Tom gave her a horrified look and then turned to Castle who was giving him a not so friendly stare.

"You know dude you can eat the food you know, it's real." Esposito passed the bag of chips to him.

"No thanks, Maddie would kill me we're trying to eat healthy."

Ryan rolled his eyes. "We're dead too but it doesn't matter."

"Especially Castle, Kate hates it when we bring him back on a sugar rush." Esposito threw in, and Castle gave him a friendly nod which he returned, letting him know that they had his back, by the time he left the house, he would understand that Kate was absolutely taken.

The next day Kate was in the break room getting a cup of coffee, seeing as she couldn't get any at home because Castle kept bothering her, and she really needed some seeing as Castle spent the rest of the night and the whole morning telling her that Tom wasn't over her and then Becca woke up at 4:27 and decided not to go back to sleep so she was utterly fagged and really needed her coffee.

"Hey." She turned to see Tom come in and start to make his own cup of coffee.

"HI." She greeted, this was okay right? After all people from every floor came to use Castle's fancy coffee machine, So it was okay that he came for coffee coincidently the next morning after he saw her the night before... right?

Little did she know that he came for a reason.

"So he's what you were looking for?"

"Excuse me?" Kate asked clearly confused.

"Castle, you were looking for him." Then it clicked he was talking about what she said when she was breaking up with him.

"Yes, he was." She answered ready to defend her husband, but he didn't say anything he just continued to make his coffee for a while.

"You know I still think about you sometimes." He said adding a spoonful of sugar to his coffee and stirring.

She did not see that one coming maybe Castle and all of his annoying ranting was right.

"I don't think I ever got over you, and I don't think I ever will." Wow was this really happening to her.

"I'm sorry but I can't say the same I haven't thought about any of my old boyfriends romantically since I started dating Rick, and I probably never will."

There was something in her eyes that just made him stop, it was over, maybe it was determination, happiness, faithfulness or just love, but whatever it wasn't going to be broken.

"Maddie really likes you, you're literally the first person except Jason that she has dated for over six months." And he died but she wasn't sure that he knew much about Jason and he wasn't going to hear it from her.

"It's very hard for her to take a relationship seriously and she's extremely happy.

"I really like her too."

"Good, now let pretend this never happened agree."

Nodded his head and put his hand out for a hand shake.

"I'm glad you found someone good for you." He said.

"You did too."

He nodded his head. "I know"

And it was 3:00 when the elevator doors opened revealing Castle and Becca and she rolled her eyes at him checking up on her. She took Becca from him allowing him to pack her bags and soon they were making their way to the elevator.

"So was I right?" Castle asked staring at her expectedly.

Sometimes she really wondered how he could read her so well.

"Yes."

"I knew it."

"For the record I was right too, he really does like Maddie and now that he has closure he is going to fully put his attention on her, so don't stroke your ego okay."

"You always pop my bubbles."

"Yea, cause it's fun."

"You know you can become a professional bubble popper."

"Sure, but I only like to pop you bubbles."

And Becca made a loud "OHHHHH" and they both laughed at her.

"She never thought about her other boyfriends, because she didn't need to the best one was right here.

Well next chapter is about another ex and I hardly think you'll like this one either especially with how she comes on to Castle and how she treats Kate. Please review.
