Summoned to Middle Earth
Ch. 14
Hermione Granger was following Gandalf the grey into the mountain passes away from Rivendell, with a flouting mirror with her old Potions Professor following at their heels. Once they had reached an area that Hermione had believed that was nothing short than a warzone, big boulder size rocks that had seemed to rip apart the pathways into the mountain side.
Gandalf grumbled, "Watch for the rock giants, they seemed to be out and raging havoc and the Dwarves had happened to be in the wrong place and at the wrong time, it should seem."
Hermione had paled at hearing that the Dwarves had faced something called the stone giants, but knew that it was something big enough to through boulders around and cause loads of damage. She had seen giants at the War of Hogwarts, but never knew of anything about other types of giants. It had taken Hermione and Gandalf a while to get through the pass and get to where the trail of the small footprints had taken them, which led to an empty cave.
Severus Snape growled, "They had gone into the Goblin caves, through the hidden doors, beneath the floor."
Hermione asked, "Goblins? Like the ones in Gringotts?"
The aging wizard sighed, "No. These Goblins are much worse than gold hungry accountants; these are blood hungry creatures that avoid daylight like a shadow hiding in darkness."
Hermione gulped, "What are we going to do, sir?"
Gandalf looked at the young lady in the eyes and ask, "Do you have your sword that you have been working with Thorin with?" When she nodded, he went on to say, "Than cast a chanting spell of your own making to help you within the darkness and its creatures."
Hermione fished out her sword that she had kept in her bag and brought out her wand that she had been carrying upon her hip holster, which she had made and waved her wand upon the sword, "I enchant this sword to protect life, and fight against the darkness. I enchant this sword to protect life, and fight against the darkness. I grant this sword the knowledge to know the difference and to protect all that I love and cherish!"
Gandalf and Severus glanced at one another and knew that Hermione Granger knew more than what she was willing to tell them, if she was enchanting the sword to be a protector of life, to fight against the darkness, and to bring the sword knowledge of such things. It was something that was unheard of from any world that they have lived in; it was almost as if she was making Excalibur, a sword that was lost through the ages.
Severus asked, "Miss Granger; have you at one point of your life, ever dreamt about being an entity of a being called the Lady of the Lake?"
Hermione had bitten her lower lips and looked away from the two wizards and sighed, "I had a dream of such, back when I was eight years old. Long before I had gotten my Hogwarts' letter."
Gandalf smiled with his sparkling blue eyes, "That would explain a lot. How you; Miss Granger, have solved many of our world's riddles in the matter of moments and also to remember everything that you have read, I must say that it was remarkable."
Severus glared, "You have got to be jesting with us, and there is no way in Hades that you could be the Lady of the Lake. She was rumored to be the most gracious woman that every graced the lands."
"You mean beautiful, which I'm not," growled out Hermione.
Gandalf huffed, "It's not the time for the two of you to bicker about past lives, we must go after the Dwarves or their lives will end before we even get there."
Once they had agreed; the three of them had found another way into the Goblin caves without alerting the creatures that they were there. They had ended up running through the barley lighten passageways of stone ledges and loosely wooden bridges that were roped together poorly, it was enough to question their sanities as they were making their way to the Dwarves. Once they had gotten to the area, where they could see Thorin and company, they also could hear a big blob that said that he was the Goblin King.
Gandalf hissed, "We must get out there and attack, once we hear that things had gone for the worse for them."
Then after a moment later they heard, ". . . crush them . . !"
Gandalf had jumped upon his feet and brought out his sword and a lined it with is staff, which caused an outburst of lighted energy. Hermione had once believed that her old Headmaster was part gazelle with the moves that he had made a few times. Then Hermione jumped out and stood next to Gandalf, and Severus floating next to them.
Once the lighted flash had stopped; the Goblin King glanced over to the three of them and laughed, "Well; isn't it Gandalf the Grey, and who is this little woman?"
Thorin yelled out, "That is Ava; my soon-to-be wife!"
The big blob laughed, "I hardly consider that, if I wasn't planning on killing you. Attact them!"
Then as if someone had held the little ugly creatures back with chains and ropes, and then were let loose, to where they were chasing all of the Dwarves, and the magical race across the deep cavern voids within the mountains. Hermione was within the middle of the Dwarves; which were fighting off the Goblins with everything that they reach, from long looking logged stick which they had used to swing the smaller creatures out of their way. If Hermione was not running for her life, she would have believed that it was comical to see the Dwarves adapting to fighting like the Ninja movies from her home.
It had taken the company approximately ten minutes of running across the inner mountain, before they had to stop; which was because of the Goblin King had found a way to get a head of them and stood in the middle of their path.
"You cannot escape from Goblin Town!"
Then Gandalf stepped forward and swiped his sword to the Goblin King's middle; which caused the blob to fall upon his knees, and then fell over the side and into the deep cavers bellow. Then for some odd reason; the bridge that the group was on had collapsed and as a whole, followed gravity and screaming all the way down.
Hermione was trapped in between the floors of the bridge; she did not remember how she had gotten there, but knew that she had to get out before he had gotten to its stopping point. She grabbed a hold of the wooden planks and through herself away from the broken fallen bridge and cast a spell that would slow down her descent, and followed the company down the deeps of the mountain. After a moment of falling; she heard a great crash, which told her that the Dwarves had reached the end of their tumbling.
Once Hermione had reached the ground; Thorin had grabbed a hold of her wrist and said, "What took you three so long?"
"Have you seen the missing pathway across the pass?"
Bofur came to their side and yelled, "Would the two of you stop bickering, we have many angry Goblins coming down to skin us alive!"
The two of them looked up, and saw thousands of creatures coming towards them, as they ran down the walls of rock to get to them.
Gandalf then yelled, "Everyone, follow me!"
Then everyone followed the grey wizard out of the mountain and down its side.
