Kate walked into the pediatrician for her usual check up she signed in at the front desk before taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs next to a woman who stared intensely at her as she laid the car seat with a sleeping Becca inside and placed her baby bag on her lap, took out her cellphone and replied to Rick's message. And she smiled when her phone rang and she saw his face on the screen.
"You know Rick I taught you weren't allowed to be on the phone during work." She teased.
"Well, I would be except outside is bursting with fans trying to get in and two of them got in a fight for who was here first so, the guards and Paula are trying to put them in an orderly fashion."
"That's what you get for being a world known author."
"And a ruggedly handsome model."
She could hear a smile in his voice.
"Great, now I stroked your ego." She groaned.
"Yes you did now how's my peach." He was, still trying out orange nick names for Becca.
"She is great she sacked out in the car on the way here and still hasn't bugged."
"So meet you for lunch, during my two hour break?"
"Yep."
Then she heard a door open and close and a loud angry scream.
"Gotta go love you."
"Love you to." Then the phone clicked out.
"Your Detective Kate Beckett-Castle right?" the woman sitting next to her asked.
"Yes, I am she didn't like as much attention as her husband did, but sadly her face was always on page six that she had to expect these things."
"Yes I am." The woman nodded her head.
"And Richard Castle is your husband right?"
Oh so she was a fan.
"My name is Emily, I'm Alex Conrad's sister."
"Oh, Rick loves him, he says he has a lot of potential."
"I know he told me over and over, he really thinks of your husband like a hero." Kate smiled.
"And my husband is a picky reader but he has all of your husband's books and they never cease to amaze him, I think he would read them everyday if he ever stopped working."
Kate smiled at her and a nurse called out a name and Emily picked up her son.
"Well it was a pleasure to meet you, Kate."
"You too Emily."
She looked down to see Becca blinking her eyes opened and already raising her hands to her, and she unbuckled the seat belt and took her up, and less than 15 minutes later they were called to the doctor.
Her face frowned when her phone rang halfway through the appointment, telling her that she had a case, she called her father who was asking to spend a day with his granddaughter for about a week, telling him that today was his lucky day and
He met her in front of the building saying that he was taking her to a baby play ground, Kate gave Becca one last kiss and started to cry when they disappeared around the corner.

There were some days when Kate could cross the yellow tape of a crime scene and know how bad it was and this one just was not sitting well with he, the weather seemed to mirror her feelings the sky was grey and they were slight rolls of thunder. She wished she could just pull out her cellphone and call Rick, but he was at a book signing until eleven then he would have a break till one then back to signing.
A man in a black suit, probably an FBI agent walked in front of her putting his hand out to stop her and she pulled out her badge resisting the strong urge to roll her eyes.
"Are you Detective Heat?" Kate rolled her eyes, it was like they didn't read.
"It's Beckett."
"Hi, I'm Agent Wayne."
He led her to where Ryan, Esposito and Lanie were standing.
"There was a murder earlier with a note."
Kate's shoulders dropped as she saw the evidence bag with a piece of paper on it was written in bold red letters.
"I'm, back Heat."
Only one psycho had called her by her alter ego's name, And the woman walking towards them confirmed it.
"Detective Beckett it's good to see you again unfortunately this is not a social call, as I am sure you have put together what is happening, Scott Dunn has escaped from the secure prison." Shaw said.
Kate looked at them completely confused.
"It is unclear as to how he escaped, nothing was tampered with and no one saw anything." She explained.
"Maybe he had help." Esposito suggested.
"We are investigating that right now, going through his phone calls and his mail, we will figure out how he got out." Wayne answered.
"Now you are allowed to work this case but, we do have full jurisdiction, so you follow our rules and if things get too personal you're off."
Kate expected that and nodded her head to the terms.

They walked into the precinct two hours later she had messaged Rick telling him what had happened and there was no doubt that he was going to be there soon except she didn't want him there she wanted them at home with their girls protecting them, so she could know that they were safe and sound for sure.
Her phone rang and she expected to hear Rick's voice on the line.
"Hi Nikki I assume you got my message."
She snapped her fingers at Jordan the FBI put it on speaker.
"Yes I got your message."
"I told you this wasn't over heat, you were just supposed to die now I have to keep going and by the way, that's a gorgeous baby girl you've got there."
There was a chuckle in his voice and Kate tensed up.
"If you so much as lay one finger on her head I will ..."
He cut her off with a laugh.
"I'm out now Nikki and you're never going to catch me again." Then the line cut out.
She walked into the break room and called Rick.
"Hey, where are you?" she asked.
"On my way."
"Could you go get Becca and go home with Alexis instead please?" There was a silence, then a soft okay and then a beep.
She knew that he was upset but she could take care of herself they couldn't
It was eight o' clock when she looked at the time and she hadn't eaten yet and had a splitting head ache, she started to pack up.
"We are putting a detail on your place." Jordan informed.
She wanted to say no she really did.
"It's not only you this time it's your family to and we can't afford another explosion now can we?"
Kate shook her head.
"And another thing you have to be escorted home."
Kate put on her jacket.
"That won't be necessary." Kate tried.
"Yes it is."
"It's just me, and I can protect myself."
Ryan and Esposito rolled their eyes.
"No you are not going alone if you want we'll escort you but take the protection and stop being so darn stubborn, you're like a sister to us and we don't want anything to happen to you." Ryan snapped.
"Ryan's right, don't make us call Castle."
"Fine let's go." She finally broke and went into the break room to get her water.

When Kate entered the room later that night she was greeted by three concerned faces and a baby and she put her hands out for her and took her.
Martha and Alexis gave her, her space but Rick wasn't letting go, and when Becca needed a snack she walked to the fridge and took out some strawberries and Rick took Becca so Kate could cut the fruit into smaller pieces.
They stayed there in silence.
"I want you, Martha, Alexis and to go somewhere else for a little while, until this is over. My dad is going on an A class reunion cruise tomorrow. "
He frowned as he put Becca in the high chair and Kate gave her a piece of the fruit.
"I'll send the others but I'm staying." His features darkened, she saw this one coming.
"Yes you are, the Hampton's is getting too predictable I thing you should go to your place in Seattle..."
He cut her off.
"Someone out there is trying to kill you and I am not leaving you alone."
Just then Becca started to cry reminding them that she hadn't gotten a strawberry for a while.
He left angrily and she could hear the door to his study slam.
And she bathed and put Becca down for the night, wanting to spend as much time with her as possible she stood up over the crib as she slept, a few stray tears falling down her face.
She left the room and paused in front of the office door and rose her hand but let it drop to her side. She walked into the living room and saw Alexis watching her favorite television show, ' vampire diaries' and she sat next to her on the couch.
"Hey."
"Hey."
She listened carefully with a small smile on her face as Alexis told her about school and her friend and Ashley being jealous of a 23 year old intern and when she was finished she pulled her into a hug.
"I love you Alexis and don't ever doubt it."
Meredith had spoken to her the week after she left then never again and Alexis had just given up.
"I love you too." And the girl's grip tightened and they sat there like that until Alexis realised the time and that she had school and headed to bed.
And while she was getting ready for bed she heard the office door open and when she entered Rick was turned on a side on one half of the bed and Kate gently sat on the bed and turned her head to his back and sighed.
He didn't acknowledge her until when she got a phone call at five in the morning about the case, and he watched as she got dressed the anger and slight hurt in his eyes.
"Make the flight as soon as you can and your name better be on one of those tickets or else."
He didn't answer he just watched her.
"I'll see you when I get back." Was the last thing she said as she left the room.

She crossed yet another crime scene and she ducked under the tape and they were two sheets one with a tiny bump under it and Lanie looked traumatized which confirmed her suspicions and when the Me pulled back the sheets she froze, a young man and a baby girl.
She barely pulled out her cellphone without dropping it.
"Hello?"
"Hi Nikki, I don't have much time, I have another job to do, check behind the pictures."
And they tore apart the apartment and eventually found the clue but she almost wish, she hadn't, when she saw the picture of Rick and Becca with Red X's over their faces and she, dialled his phone.
No answer.
She tried the house phone.
Still no answer.
She didn't say anything she just ran to her car.
She burst through the house.
"Rick? Rick?"
His phone was on the table, so far everything looked okay. She walked to their bedroom door, and there they both were fast asleep, this one had been too close.
"You're leaving on a flight at four."
"I'm not leaving you."
"Geeze Richard just this one do what I ask you to do."

By 3:26 in the evening they were all standing at the airport and it was almost time for their flight and they announced that it was time to start entering the departure lounge to wait for the flight.
"Don't worry bro we won't let anything happen to her." Esposito said before giving the family their privacy.
She hugged Martha first.
"Take care of yourself kiddo." She pulled back enough to look in her eyes.
"I will Martha."
Then Alexis threw herself at her.
"Be safe and call everyday, I can't lose another mother."
She gently plucked Becca from Rick's arms, and the baby smiled and pulled at her hair and Kate took a while kissing her and whispering things in her ear and when the line was down to five people she gave Becca to Martha and looked and Rick and he looked away angrily.
"Rick please don't do this." She begged.
And Martha and Alexis joined the line to let them talk.
"Please don't leave angry at me."
His face softened a little.
"If this was the last time we saw each other, would you want it to end like this?"
And she could see the tears building in his eyes.
"I did this because Martha, Alexis and Becca need you."
He finally spoke.
"But I need you."
She held both of his hands in hers.
"I need you too and that's why I can't let you stay and put yourself in danger..."
And before she could finish his lips were on hers and they pulled apart when they ran out of air.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you too."
And they kissed one last time.
"Promise me you'll call every day, and you're not going to go rouge and try to catch him on your own." He said in a firm voice.
"I promise."
And they announced the last call, and they let go and he walked over to the attendant and gave her the ticket and Becca must have realized that they were leaving because she started to cry and grab for Kate and she gave them one last smile and wave, she watched until they cross the gates and then headed over to the group. Making sure to wipe all traces of tears from her face.
"How are you feeling?" Ryan asked.
"Right now I feel I'm going to kill Scott Dunn"
