Thanks for the reviews and for telling me I had the incorrect name I usually rewatch the episodes to make sure I have the right information, but I didn't do that this time and some how or another I ended up writing Matt.

And it was 12 in the night and Kate was still there staring at the board like the force of her stare could reveal something. Eventually she sat in her chair and her eyes caught a picture on the desk of her and Rick cuddling on the floor with Alexis holding Becca in front of them. She looked up when a shadow came over the picture and she turned towards the source to see Jordan sitting in Castle's chair.
"You have a beautiful family." She commented on the few pictures on the desk.
"Thanks."
Jordan picked up one of the pictures with only her and Becca.
"How old is she?"
Kate smiled at the photo, remembering how much trouble it was to get her to face the camera and smile.
"She's eight months now."
"She looks like you and Rick I'm surprised you didn't name her Nikki after all, she is part you part him."
What was up with everyone wanting their child to be named Nikki?"
"Rick did suggest that name, but considered how the character in the book acts, it wasn't hard to realize it wasn't the right name for her."
"I see and I guess my assumptions were correct when I told you that he cared about you?"
"Yes you were."
There was a moment of silence between them and Kate just played with the wedding ring around her neck.
"Go home, Detective."
Kate's head shot up to protest.
"Not as in off the case just for the night , unless you refuse, then you're off the case."
Kate didn't say anything she was standing in front of the board since her family boarded the plane 7 and a half hours ago.
"Fine, I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Good and another thing not until 10am either you look exhausted and you're no good if you're all wiped out."
This woman was really testing things but she was right so she put the papers in her brief case put on her coat and left.

She never noticed how hungry or tired she was until she sat at the table alone with a plate of left overs from the night before, she didn't call Rick because she was pretty sure that they were busy settling in, and for the first time in three years she slept in a bed without him.
Kate's body was like an alarm clock she woke up by herself every morning at six unless if she was pregnant or really tired because in this case it was the latter she opened her eyes at 7:42 wrapped in a very odd position around Castle's pillow and she allowed herself to indulge in his scent.
She tried to shake the feeling of how much she missed her family. By eight she opened her laptop and signed on they had to be awake by now.
They answered a few seconds after she requested the call and Castle's face appeared on the screen like he had hardly slept and she knew the answer.
"Hey, how are you?" He asked with a tired smile.
"I'm good I would ask you but I'm not going to because you look like you got hit by a truck. What happened."
He ran a hand through his hair trying to pull his anger for her back inside.
"Well coming up to the time you usually get home, Becca started to get overly fussy and cried way past her bedtime and we couldn't figure out why until I found that I packed one of your shirts by mistake and she picked it up to hold it and as soon as she caught your scent she calmed down and was out like a light."
Kate was silent his voice wasn't angry but it had a slightly sharp tone to it which gave her a hint that he was still mad at her.
"And then for the rest of the night, I was up because I was worried about my wife who I hadn't heard from since a text at 9 and wasn't answering her phone."
Answering her phone she didn't hear any calls she looked down at the phone to see that it was off it probably needed charging too.
"Sorry my cell needs charging."
His eyes narrowed. "I called you on the house phone four times."
"I didn't get home until after twelve."
Just when he was about to say something else the door opened and Alexis entered the room with Becca.
"Hey, mom I taught I heard you in here." Alexis greeted as she came in.
"Hey Lexis."
They were both wearing fake smiles on their faces each of them covering their emotions, as much as everyone said that she knew how to hide from her problems like a pro, no one knew that her husband also had that same talent probably because he was so good at it they couldn't tell.
"Hey dad did you tell mom about yesterday?"
And a genuine smile came onto his face.
"Oh, yea." He put Becca a few feet away from the laptop and showed her Kate and a huge grin appeared on the baby's face.
"Hey sweetie, mommy misses you." Kate said in a cooing voice and after the girl had gotten herself composed she slowly pushed herself on all fours and started to crawl over to the laptop, only to cry when she realized that she couldn't touch her mother. Alexis took her and calmed Becca down.
"When did she start?" Kate asked tears building in her eyes.
"Last night, when she was reaching for your shirt."
They spoke for a while even though some of it was forced, both of them wanted nothing more than to be with each other. But eventually Kate looked at the time, it was already past 9:30.
"Rick I have to go."
"Okay."
"I promise I'll call you."
She took off the phone wishing that she didn't have to, wishing that they could solve their problem, but right now she had a job to do and that was the major issue.
Her phone rang and she answered with her usual greeting and a smile came across her face when she heard the news.

She walked into the precinct with a lot more energy and pep in her step than she did before.
"Hey KC, how's the family?" Ryan asked when she reached her desk.
"Great I just spoke to them this morning, and Becca started crawling last night."
"Wow, get ready Kate you'll never have a moment of peace again." Esposito commented.
"If you're saying that now wait until they start walking." Ryan teased making Esposito shut up immediately.
And finally Jordan walked up to her.
"Are you sure it was him?" Kate asked.
"Yep the description matches our perp, says he's staying in an abandoned building."
Kate looked a little unsure, but any lead was a good lead right now.

Walking into the dark of the night being careful not to tip him off at all and Jordan had told her to make sure that she stayed behind and wait for them outside. They all crouched in front of the door ready to kick it down and soon they were off running in all directions and she stood by the van.
Why was that one with the hat always behind and not moving, why was he even wearing a hat? She turned at the building and when she looked again he was gone and before her brain could process it something struck her in her back and she fell and she quickly pulled her gun from its holster, and a foot stamped down on it making a loud crunch and the gun was yanked from her hand.
"Nuh uh, Nikki not so fast."
It was Scott in a police uniform he was the one in the hat.
She tried to stand up and he put three swift kicks landing them into her ribs and she yelled out in pain.
"You hid them from me didn't you Nikki?"
Kate didn't answer, she couldn't not when there was a chance that she would never see her family again.
"Well it doesn't matter."
He pointed the gun at her and she closed her eyes reminiscing about the great things in her life waiting for the bullet to end her life.
But it never came.
"Drop the gun." Jordan yelled
And a hand grabbed her waist and the gun pressing to her forehead.
"No Jordan you drop yours this is Heat's story not yours."
And Kate just stood there frozen. What was she doing this man caused her to get into a fight with her husband and miss her daughter crawling for the first time. She balled her hands into a fist and kicked backwards landing him right in his middle and he groaned and fell to the ground releasing his grip on her and guns flying out of his hands and she gave him three more kicks for her own satisfaction.
"That is for all the trouble that you caused me."
She backed off and allowed the other who just arrived to slap the cuffs on him and take him away.
"Nikki at three strikes you're going to be out you and your husband."
Kate looked utterly confused, what was he talking about?

Well she had come out with minimal injuries at least to her three cracked ribs and a sprain hand, but to Castle it would probably seem like she got shot in the chest.
Montgomery walked up to her after the paramedics were finished.
"I'm glad you're okay." He said.
"Thank you, sir, me to."
He looked at her hand.
"I don't want to see you back here for the next two weeks, you nor your team, you guys have been working nonstop, now it's time to rest and come back to work refreshed."
And for once she wouldn't argue because she wanted to leave just as badly as he wanted her to.

It was over, it was finally over and she was okay but they weren't going home, Kate said she needed time and he should have expected that. She was hiding and it was probably kind of his fault, but they were married now and she still believed that she had to fight her battles on her own, but he didn't have to come down on her so hard. Then there was a knock on the door.
Who could be there so late in the night? he grabbed his star wars light saber it could still save them and he opened the door and nothing prepared him for what he saw.
"Kate? what are you doing here?"He asked.
"Well I'm off for the next two weeks so I taught that I could join my family for a vacation in Seattle."
He gave her a light smile, as she walked inside.
"Kate about how I reacted ..." she cut him off.
"No Rick you were right I should have called more often, especially when I sent you away against your will."
"It's just that it's not just you anymore we're a team now... and gosh it didn't sound so cheesy in my head."
She giggled. "Rick I signed up for the badge and my life is at stake but yours doesn't need to be I want that they have at least one parent, with one she'll get over it, but not with two."
He wanted to tell her that only one of hers died and she wouldn't let go but there was no need to start another fight now especially when she was there with them safe and sound.

Well I intended to have this up sooner but then I realized I hadn't updated my other story in so long and then I was out everyday this week hopefully next week will be different.
