Alex and his family and friends left the stadium in high spirits. Fred and George were especially jubilant, as their prediction and bet of Ireland winning but Viktor Krum catching the Snitch had come true. After the awarding of the Cup to the Ireland National Team, the two had collected their winnings from Bagman, assuring their father that they had no intention of telling their mother that they had been gambling.

"That match was really something," said Beth. "I thought that Ireland would win, unless Krum managed an early capture of the Snitch, but I didn't think Fred and George's bet would be likely to come true."

"I was impressed with the Wronski Feint that Krum pulled off," Alex said. "I saw the move once at an Arrows-Harpies game, but it wasn't executed as brilliantly as Krum did it. And he did a great job catching the Snitch so that Bulgaria's loss wouldn't be too bad. No wonder he's like the youngest professional Quidditch player ever."

"Well, he was signed on for the Bulgarian team at sixteen, when all the national teams were starting to do the matches to see which sixteen teams would make it to the finals," Cara pointed out. "The youngest player to ever sign on a team before him was seventeen. I would love to get to know Viktor Krum. and not simply because he's famous. He's an excellent Quidditch player and it would be great to pick his brain on the subject."

"Maybe you will get to meet him, Cara," Ivan said. "I recall reading that this year is his final year at Durmstrang, so he could be one of the students that comes to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament."

"Where did you hear that, Ivan Severus Petrov?" his mother demanded sternly. "Students aren't supposed to know about the Tournament yet."

"That was my fault, Sarah," Sirius said apologetically. "Remember when Ludo Bagman was hinting about it but that bas-, er blasted Crouch cut him off when they stopped by our tents earlier? The teens were clearly curious about it, so I went ahead and told them. Well, except for the Gryffindor quintet, since they already knew about it."

"Oh Sirius," said Aunt Sarah, shaking her head. "I should have remembered that you are just the kind of person to do something like that." Seeing Ivan's questioning look, she added, "Beth, Alex, and their friends already knew about the Tournament because Ron happened to overhear Ana and your Bubbe talking about it at the potions shop a week ago. They were told not to tell anyone else."

"Well, if they know about the Tournament already, then they might as well know the rest," Uncle Niko said. "Arthur, your family can join us, since you're close friends and half your family already knows some of it, anyway. And so can you, Adam, Leah, and Esther, as you'd likely ask your friends about it."

The whole group gathered in the green tent, where Aunt Sarah and Ana made tea and hot chocolate. After mugs of drink were passed around, Sirius put a spell on the tent so that nobody outside could overhear anything. Stephan looked at Alex. "Do you wish to reveal a certain thing?"

Alex thought for a minute before deciding that it would explain why he had the dream/vision of Voldemort and some of the escaped Death Eaters, and anyway, the Weasleys and Rosenbergs were trustworthy. He went to the bathroom to scrub away the effects of the face cream that hid his scar. When he came out, he took a deep breath and said, "I'm actually Harry Potter," and lifted up his slightly damp bangs to expose the lightning bolt scar.

There were gasps around the tent, all from the Rosenbergs and those of the Weasleys that hadn't already known this. Alex lowered his fringe and sat down. "My mother, or should I say my adoptive mother, was the one that caught my biological uncle trying to leave me on the steps of a church. Once she saw my scar, she realized who I was and she and Dad made the decision to adopt me. To help protect me, they gave me an Adoption Potion so that I'd look like one of the family and raised me as Beth's twin brother. When I turned eleven, I was told the truth, along with Beth and our cousins. I decided that I didn't want to reveal myself to the wizarding world at large, since I didn't want a big fuss made over me and my fame. I told my friends the truth, of course, and Fred and George later found out and promised to keep it secret as well. Uncle Remus and Sirius also know, since they were friends of my biological parents, and I told Professor Dumbledore and the Heads of House so that they didn't have to keep worrying about where Harry Potter was. That was it, though."

"That explains why the dementors affected you differently from Beth!" Leah exclaimed. "You had some memory of the deaths of your biological parents, which Beth obviously didn't have, since she's not your biological sister. Adam and I had wondered about that."

"That's beside the point, Leah," said Adam. "What's important is that Alex is trusting us with a family and close friends secret. We are going to keep our mouths shut about this, okay? And I suppose this is the real reason why Leah and I had to learn Occulemency and why Esther's learning it now?"

"Well, I hadn't really planned on telling more people about this before, but that was the main reason the family and our friends learned," said Alex.

"You don't have to worry about any of the Weasleys telling, Alex," added Mr. Weasley. "I am honored that you think the rest of us that aren't your close friends are trustworthy enough to be told your true identity. But what does this have to do with the upcoming Tournament?"

Ana quickly explained about the dream/vision that Alex had a week ago and the future that Granny Ilsa had Foreseen. "Now I'm wishing that I was in the same year as Vera so that I could help you with this, Alex," said Percy.

"Thanks, Percy, but you are already helping out," Alex said. "You're working in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, which is organizing the Tournament. So you can find out stuff, and maybe suggest some things to Mr. Crouch."

Percy brightened at that. "That's true. The first task has already been planned, but they're finishing up with the preparations for the second and third tasks. If you somehow do get entered in it, I could pass on some advice. I'd tell you about the tasks, but that would be cheating, and if you don't get forced to compete, the Tournament wouldn't be as exciting for you to watch if you already knew about everything beforehand."

"Thank you," said Alex, appreciating the offer. He didn't expect Percy to tell about the tasks, anyway, since he might be willing to bend the rules for a good cause, but outright breaking them was something he wouldn't do unless the situation was very, very serious. "Er, since Aunt Molly isn't here, you're free to tell her about all this, Uncle Arthur. Just put up a spell to prevent eavesdropping and swear her to secrecy." Ron's parents had asked Alex and Beth to call them 'aunt' and 'uncle' years ago, since the "twin's" parents had told the Weasley kids to do the same.

"I'll do that, Alex," said Mr. Weasley, smiling briefly. "Molly will be surprised at first, but once she gets over it, she'll likely make some comments about how it's a good thing that you had a loving family to raise you, since your biological relatives would no doubt have been horrible to you if they had kept you."

Alex suppressed a shudder, since he had read enough books with children that were in abusive or neglectful situations before being rescued to know that it could have happened to him, considering that his biological relatives hadn't wanted him. Even if they had given him adequate care, they would have no doubt neglected him emotionally, which was better than being abused but still not a great situation. Thankfully such a thing hadn't happened, so he tried to dismiss that from his mind and said instead, "I just hope Aunt Molly won't fuss too much about the vision I had or the possible future that Granny Ilsa Foresaw. Though it probably won't happen. She fusses over everyone she cares about, not just her family."

"That's true," said Mr. Weasley with a laugh. "I'll reassure her that Professor Dumbledore had been apprised of the situation and that he and your family are working to prevent this from happening. Perhaps that will calm Molly down and she won't fuss over it as much."

"Well, it's getting late," Uncle Niko said. "We should probably turn in, if we can sleep through the noise of the Irish supporters celebrating the win."

There were some chuckles and Mr. Weasley commented that he was relieved to not be on duty, since he didn't fancy having to tell the Irish supporters that they had to stop their revelry. With that, everyone went to their respective tents for bed.

The rest of the night passed relatively peacefully, other than the Dark Mark being found hanging over Mr. Crouch's tent. There was quite the alarm over that, since the Dark Mark hadn't been seen since Voldemort's defeat almost thirteen years ago. When several Aurors and other members of the British Ministry of Magic investigated, however, all that they found was that both Mr. Crouch and his house-elf had been Stunned and the inside of the tent was in some disorder. Lying at the entrance was a wand, which Aunt Maria recognized as David's wand, and was found to be the source of the Dark Mark.

When David was called over, he looked relieved to see his wand and explained, "When I got up this morning, I couldn't find my wand. I thought maybe Fred and George hid it as a prank, but they swore they hadn't touched it. They seemed rather preoccupied with some matter of their own."

"But what would your wand be doing just outside Mr. Crouch's tent?" his mother asked.

"I don't know," replied David. "All I know is that I had my wand in my trousers pocket during the match yesterday, and this morning it wasn't there. Maybe it fell out of my pocket on the way back to the tents and the person that did the Dark Mark picked it up and used it?"

The Aurors and Ministry members present agreed that it was the most likely scenario, and that probably one or more of the escaped Death Eaters were responsible. What they couldn't figure out however, was why Mr. Crouch and his house-elf were targeted. Or rather, they figured that Mr. Crouch was targeted because of his policies during the war against Voldemort, but they couldn't figure out why a Death Eater would only Stun him and not torture or kill him.

When Mr. Crouch and Winky the elf were revived, the former explained that he had returned to his tent a couple of hours after the match to find Peter Pettigrew waiting there. Winky had already been Stunned. Before Mr. Crouch could properly react, he had been hit with a Stunner, and didn't know what happened after that until his revival. He appeared to have no idea why David's wand was there, unless Pettigrew had found the dropped wand and decided to use it to make it harder for any sort of magical signature to be traced. Winky had hesitantly said that a rat had come inside the tent and turned into a man, startling her, and before she could do anything, he had taken out a wand and Stunned her. Immediately after that, Mr. Crouch had fired Winky, saying that she would be given clothes for not properly guarding the tent.

"That's going a bit overboard, Barty," Mr. Diggory protested. "Certainly your elf could have been more aware, but if she was caught off guard by an escaped Death Eater that's also an Animagus, what could she have done? You yourself were caught off-"

"That is none of your concern, Amos," Mr. Crouch interrupted coldly. "I shouldn't have been caught off guard, considering that the Ministry suspected that the Death Eaters at large would be planning something, and Winky knew better as well. She has disgraced me and will be punished for this."

Mr. Diggory didn't say anything more, but David exclaimed, "It's not Winky's fault! She didn't know that Pettigrew in rat form was going to appear in your tent, turn back into a human, and Stun her! And she was already shaken from being in the Top Box saving you a seat for a match you didn't even appear at, since she's afraid of heights! It's not fair to-"

"That is enough, David Joseph Romanov," his mother interrupted sternly. "How Mr. Crouch wishes to discipline his servants is none of your business."

"But Mum, you know it's not fair for Winky to be sacked just because she was caught unawares!" David protested.

"That is still none of your business," she snapped. "And you know better than to talk to your elders like that. Take your wand and get ready to return home with your sister and relatives. Since your father and I will be busy dealing with this matter over the Dark Mark, you are to tell your Uncle Stephan and Aunt Ana about your behavior and have them come up with a suitable punishment for trying to meddle in Mr. Crouch's private business."

David still looked rebellious, but took his wand and stalked away. His sister, cousins, and friends all looked rather indignant when they heard about Mr. Crouch giving Winky clothes for being caught unawares by Wormtail, but there was nothing they could do about it. While Ana and Stephan agreed that it was an appalling thing to do, it still wasn't polite for David to talk to Mr. Crouch like that. David was given a short lecture about learning when to keep his mouth shut, and told that he would go without dessert that night as his punishment. Since it was a rather mild one, he accepted it and joined the others in packing.

That evening, at dinner, Aunt Maria and Uncle Tobias reported that the investigation over the Dark Mark had hit a dead end. Nobody could figure out why Peter Pettigrew would attack Mr. Crouch to just Stun him and then put up the Dark Mark, unless it was simply to scare the wizarding population. As for Winky, apparently Dobby knew her, so through him, she had been contacted and offered a job working for Sirius. She had accepted, since she hadn't any idea of what to do after being sacked in disgrace, and stopped crying long enough to thank Dobby and Sirius.

The next day, Mrs. Weasley had a talk with Alex. "Arthur told me everything," she said. "Once I got over my surprise of who you really were, I saw how fortunate it was that Ana and Stephan adopted you and gave you a happy and normal childhood. Since your relatives hadn't wanted you, if they had kept you, your life with them would have been horrible. It turned out for the better that they decided to give you up."

"I know, Aunt Molly," said Alex.

"Anyway, I am worried about your vision and what your grandmother Foresaw," Mrs. Weasley continued. "But Arthur assured me that your family and Professor Dumbledore are taking steps to prevent this, so I am somewhat relieved. Mad-Eye Moody is hired to be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year, so between him and Professor Dumbledore, I'm sure nothing will get past them."

"That is good," Alex said, perking up. "Aunt Maria and Uncle Tobias told me how cautious and careful Moody is, saying that his apparent paranoia is useful, and Tonks, you know, Sirius's cousin, said pretty much the same thing."

Mrs. Weasley smiled and was about to say something more, when Ron burst into the kitchen, holding what looked to be a rather moldy-looking maroon dress with lace collar and cuffs. "Mum, what's this?" he demanded. "Did you give me Ginny's new dress by mistake or something?"

"No, those are dress robes for you," Mrs. Weasley said. "They're on your supplies list for this year, because of the Tournament and all. Your friends have them too. Alex, you got your dress robes, correct?"

Alex nodded. "Granny Ilsa bought some nice green robes for me when she was getting school stuff for me and Beth. She said that it would match my eyes."

"How come Alex gets nice robes and I get stuck with these?" Ron asked.

Mrs. Weasley flushed and said, "Well, I had to get your robes secondhand and there wasn't much choice."

"What about the money Ginny and I have that was set aside to get our school things?" demanded Ron. "You could have used that, since dress robes apparently were on our supplies list."

"I wanted to save as much of that money for you as possible so you have more after graduation," Mrs. Weasley protested, flushing again.

"Mum, Ginny and I already have six hundred Galleons put aside for that," Ron pointed out, rather impatiently. "The four hundred Galleons for our school things would more than cover the years we have left, since you didn't use any of it last year because of all the money Dad won."

"Yes, but-" Mrs. Weasley began.

"Let me get this straight," Ron interrupted. "You would rather use your and Dad's money, that could be saved for something else, on getting secondhand dress robes for me, over taking my money, that was specifically set aside for school supplies, and buying new robes."

"It's not like that!" exclaimed Mrs. Weasley. "Yes, it was nice that you and Ginny got money from the sale of basilisk parts, but your father and I are your parents and are supposed to provide for you! What kind of parents would we be-"

"Mum, you and Dad aren't horrible parents," Ron interrupted again, this time in a patient tone of voice. "I love you, and I know that you two love me and are doing the best you can for your kids. But if any of us get some money that enables us to help out, we'll use it. You didn't object so much when Percy, Fred, and George used the money they earned working at Petrov's Potions to pay for some of their school stuff. For that matter, I've got some money saved from my work there. Since you and Dad haven't put any limits on how I can spend my pocket money, how about I buy my own dress robes and you can just return these?"

Mrs. Weasley hesitated, then said, "All right, Ron. I'll take you to Diagon Alley this afternoon and you can get new dress robes. I'm sorry if it came across that I didn't care about the state of your robes."

"It's all right, Mum. I know you meant well." Ron hugged his mother, handed her the maroon robes, and then returned to his room.

Mrs. Weasley, having been sidetracked with Ron's interruption over his dress robes, looked back at Alex. "Anyway, I'm sure that you know to be careful, and with Moody and Professor Dumbledore keeping an eye on things at Hogwarts, perhaps everything will be avoided. Well, Alex dear, that was all I wanted to speak to you about, so if you want to spend time with Ron now, go ahead."

"Thank you, Aunt Molly." Alex got up and headed for Ron's room.

Author's Note: Since the escaped Death Eaters are currently lying low on Voldemort's orders, the whole thing with the attack on Mr. Roberts (the Muggle manager of the campsite) and his family wouldn't have happened. However, since Voldemort found out about Barty Crouch Jr. through breaking through the Memory Charm on Bertha Jorkins when questioning her, something would be done to free him. As Crouch Jr. stole David's wand while up in the Top Box, he was able to send some sort of message to Voldemort. That in turn lead to Wormtail being sent to free Crouch Jr. (since he could get past the protections by sneaking in as a rat). After knocking out first Winky, and then Crouch Sr., Wormtail and Crouch Jr. would have fled, with the latter conjuring the Dark Mark and leaving David's wand behind to confuse things.
