Summoned to Middle Earth

Ch. 18

Gandalf set Hermione Granger a side before the company had set off to the Mirkwood Forest and told her that she would not be able to have any children, due to the wounds that she had received from Azog the Defiler.

She glanced up to the Grey Wizard and asked, "What else did you do, besides using Professor Snape's spells?"

Gandalf sighed, "I had to use the powers of the Elven verity and was granted to use, which gave you the essence of Immortality. As it stands; you are kin to the Elves, without the ears to show for it."

Hermione glanced to the floor, "Did you tell this to Thorin?"

He only knows that you won't be having little ones without have the Lady of the Light to help, who could give you a potion that would help heal you."/

She then glanced over the would-be-king and saw the anger within his eyes, and knew that was one of the reasons that he was hardly talking to her. She then looked towards Gandalf and gave a small nod, to let him know that she understood and she would be keeping something from the Dwarves that had ended up saving her life.

Everyone had gotten their things together and went outside and gotten onto the horses that Beorn had provided for them. He told everyone to hurry, for the enemy was quickly picking up their trail. Everyone had managed to get upon a horse each, and rode off towards the forest.

It had taken a few minutes on horseback, but they were at the edge of the forest to where everyone was unloading their own horses. What no one was looking; was that Gandalf went into the forest for a little ways and Hermione Granger was following him, with Severus Snape floating in his mirror. Each of the three heard the Lady of the Wood's voice, talking to Gandalf and what he needs to do; which brought a sad smile upon Hermione's face. For a voice within her head told her that she would not be seeing Gandalf for a long while.

Gandalf turned and faced Hermione, "Whatever happens; you must protect the Dwarves, make sure that they make it to the Lonely Mountain before Duran's Day."

She gave a sad smile, "I will, Gandalf."

Gandalf then turned around and went back out of the forest and gotten onto his horse once again, and told the Dwarves that Hermione will help them on their journey, as he had to help with other things upon Middle Earth that needed his help.

Thorin grumbled after hearing that Gandalf had to take off to help others, when he had promised that he would help him to get to his homeland. With a big sigh; Thorin led his people into the Mirkwook Forest, as Hermione followed at a slow and steady pace from everyone else.

When what had felt like hours of walking; the company had started to get weak minded, as they walked even deeper within the dark forest. Hermione was starting to have a hard time breathing; as the Dwarves were yelling at one another about who had lost the path and so forth, while Bilbo had gone climbing up within the trees.

Within a hair's breath; a swarm of spiders had come out of nowhere, and took all the Dwarves and wrapped them up in webbing. Hermione glanced up as one of the spiders had come towards her and said, "This one smells different. It's not good enough to eat."

Another spider spoke up, "Then leave it."

The spiders; as well as the Dwarves, were gone in a blink of an eye. Hermione then lay down upon the forest floor, trying to get oxygen within her lungs, but having a hard time doing so.

Time has passed; just like it normally does, Hermione blinked a few times but was able to get upon her feet once again and glanced around and saw the Dwarves raining down in their cocoon casings. She took out her sword and helped each one of the Dwarves to get out of their webbed prisons; while the ones that were able to get out, brought out their own weapons to provide protection. Once all the able men were free; everyone had gotten themselves into a circle to attack anything that comes their way. Hermione had her own sword out, along with her wand; but many of the Dwarves pushed her into the middle even more, trying to get her from getting hurt some more.

Then the spiders came at all the directions; to where the sounds of mettle hitting flesh, and the screams of spiders. Hermione was able to get a few swings off of a couple of those giant eight legged creatures that the Dwarves were unable to stop before getting close to her.

Then out of nowhere; arrows came and shot some of the spiders around Hermione, before the other spiders came down as each of the arrows had hit their marks. Then a blond blur came from above the tree tops, came sliding down as it shot more arrows at more spiders that came out of the shadows.

When the blond blur stopped before Hermione; who had his arrow pointed at Thorin Oakenshield, and said, "Don't move Dwarf, or you'll find yourself dead."

The blond then glanced over to Hermione and said, "She is not of your females, for woman of Dwarves are just has hair as their men."

Thorin glared at the Elf before him and said, "No; she is not of our women. She is a child of a wizard."

The Elf had been looking at the young woman before him and asked, "Is this true; are you a child of a wizard?"

Hermione sheathed her sword and put her wand away for safe keeping, and waved her hand upon one of the fallen weapons and had it float within the air before everyone to see. She then glanced up and asked, "Is that all the answers that you wanted to hear?"

My name is Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood. I will take you to my father; King Thranduil.

All the Elven guards surrounded the Dwarves and Hermione, to where everyone was forced to be taken to the Woodland Realm.
