Well didn't get to change the picture for this chapter but next one for sure.

Onto more important issues, my exams start next week and I really need to start studying so I may not be updating until the next 2-3 weeks.

Wish me luck.

Thanks for all of the follows and reviews.

Kate got out of her bed it was Saturday, which meant lazy day for the whole Castle family everyone but her, she wasn't a morning unless she got her coffee but she was practiced to be up early everyday, unfortunately that meant weekends to.

She walked into the kitchen and started preparing breakfast, it was only a matter of time before they would get up.

And less than 50 minutes later she felt two hands around her waist and a kiss on her neck.

"Imagine waking up on a Saturday morning and reaching for your wife only to find that she isn't there."

He gave her a kiss which seemed to drag on before Kate finally broke it.

"Morning," he greeted.

"Morning, Rick," she wrapped her arms around his neck, they still had a few minutes before anyone else would be waking up.

Their lips locked together and they both sighed then Castle lifted her onto the counter.

"Hey! People cook on there." Martha joked.

Kate smiled and hoped off the counter, at least this time it wasn't Alexis the last time she caught them kissing they couldn't look each other in the eyes for a week.

Martha smiled at the couple, she had notice that things were tense between the two and for a moment she taught that their marriage was the same like Castle's other two but they had worked out their differences and were back to being that sickeningly sweet couple.

A squeal disturbed the adults conversation and they all turned to see Alexis holding a very excited 14 month old baby girl.

"Hey," Alexis said, her voice still dripping with sleep and her eyes were barely opened.

"Sorry about that Alexis, I forgot to bring down the monitor with me." Kate apologised and the girl wiggled out of her sister's arms and stood up taking a few wobbly steps before falling on her all fours and crawling the rest of the way to Kate and stretching her cubby arms out for Kate.

"It's okay, it was almost time for me to get up anyway I have a date with Ashley in an hour."

"Oh okay, well dish yourselves, my dad just asked me if I could meet him at the diner, he has something to tell me." When she left to go get ready Martha shot Castle a look.

"Think he'll tell her?"

"I don't know, but I sure hope so it's only a matter of time before she catches on."

The air began leave his chest as his daughter walked through the door of the small diner, she seemed happy and relaxed, and Jim wondered if he should put off his little confession, but he couldn't not when he had put it off four times before and Melissa was really starting to get edgy.

"Hey, dad." She greeted sliding into the booth flashing him with a smile.

"Hey Katie, how are you?" His voice was shaking and he was pretty sure that Kate didn't miss it, she was a detective.

"Fine dad, and you?"

"Oh I'm fine, how's the family?"

"They're good."

He sucked in a breath there was no more staling, he would take whatever reaction he got, but he couldn't lie to her anymore.

"Katie there's something I want to tell you."

She looked up from her cup of coffee that had just arrived.

"What is it dad?"

He swallowed his saliva and his palms started to sweat, if life was a cartoon he would be pulling at his collar.

"I'm seeing someone."

Kate sat back in her seat.

"Seeing someone as in therapist or seeing someone as in dating?" She asked just to be sure.

"I'm dating someone."

She bit her lip and her eye switched slightly.

"How long?"

"About a year."

The vein in her head popped up, she was mad.

"Wait you've been dating someone for a year and you waited until now to tell me."

"Did you meet her family yet?" she hoped it was no and that she could feel better knowing that neither side had met there parent's spouse.

He looked away guiltily.

"You did, didn't you I can't ..., wait that's why you were late for Christmas dinner."

He looked at her, she was just too smart for her own good.

"And for a year, did she ever meet Becca?"

"Yea, but only once and it was that night when Martha started that new play and I didn't know she was going to be there. I wanted to wait until I knew for sure that our relationship was going somewhere before I told you."

"Dad she has a key to your house, I think that once a relationship lasts 6 months it's pretty dammed serious." She argued.

"Look Kate if this is you worrying about me replacing your mother..."

She picked up her keys and phone.

"No dad this isn't about mom and I'm not that angry about the fact that you're seeing other people, I'm mad that you waited a whole year before you told me."

She stood up.

"Katie, let me explain." Jim pleaded.

"Bye dad I'll call you." She left the diner and stopped a taxi, it was a good thing she had decided not to drive.

"So how was it?" Melissa asked, patting the spot on the bed next to her.

"How do you think it went?!" He snapped.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped."

She placed a gentle hand on his back.

"It's okay you had a fight with your daughter and you're upset."

He sighed, "I haven't had a fight that big with her since that time I started drinking again."

"What happened? Does she hate me?"

"No Melissa she doesn't hate you, she's mad that I didn't tell her sooner."

Melissa narrowed her eyes and bit her tongue to stop the words from flying out.

"Go ahead Mel you can say it."

"I wish I were wrong but... I told you so."

"So what are you going to do?" She asked.

"Wait a few days, she said she'd call but she's not going to she's going to try and hide or avoid me, so someday I'm gonna pay her an unexpected visit, if she doesn't slam the door in my face."

"She wouldn't do that." Melissa tried to comfort her,

"You definitely do not know my daughter."

And when Kate opened the door Castle immediately knew that he had told her, her face was red and the vein in her forehead was pulsing.

She walked into the bedroom barely acknowledging him and Martha and Becca immediately turned back when she saw her mother's rage.

"You go check on her, I'll look after Becca."

When he entered the room Kate was pasting a hole in the floor, he watched her in silence knowing that she would share when she was ready.

"Do you believe that my dad has been dating some woman for the past year and just told me today, I can't believe it!"

"Yea neither can I." He lied and just as Kate was about to keep ranting her rage she narrowed her eyes at him.

"You knew didn't you?"

His eyes widened.

"So did mother."

"So I was the only idiot who didn't know?"

"No we promised him we wouldn't say anything, it's just like when you and mother kept my surprise party a secret from me."

Kate rolled her eyes.

"That has nothing to do with this situation."

"Yes it does." He tried, he was really desperate to stop her from being angry at him.

"No a good example would be when Martha first started seeing Burt and I told you as soon as we found out."

"That doesn't help my case." He said in attempt to lighten the mood.

"Whatever, the fact is that he waited a year to tell me."

"Kate he didn't want you to be angry."

"Oh because this way, I'm not angry at all." She bit sarcastically.

"Kate I think you are over reacting."

"Rick he waited a year to tell me."

"He probably did that because he didn't want you to get attached to someone only to let them leave, so he waited to make sure it was stable, I used to do it for Alexis all the time."

She froze.

"You never did it to me."

"That's because you were different, you weren't like the rest."

She grabbed his hand and taught for a while.

"Okay maybe I did sorta over react." He always knew how to calm her down.

"Glad you see it my way honey."

So three days later when Jim Beckett knocked nervously at the Castle's residence door he was surprised when Kate gave him a big grin.

"Hey dad."

"Hey Katie." Neither of them knew how to start the conversation so they both stood in awkward silence.

"Would you like some tea?"

"Uh yes."

She lead him into the Kitchen.

"Look Katie I'm sor..."

"No dad you shouldn't be I over reacted, and I now understand why you waited so long to tell me."

"Thank you and I shouldn't have waited that long to tell you."

"So when do I meet her."

"Whenever you are ready she's already excited to meet you."

"Well we'll arrange that soon enough."

"So are you staying for dinner?" She changed the topic.

"Is that an invitation?"

"Yes."

"Then I guess I am." He put his hands out for a hug which she accepted, it was always something that Johanna had encouraged him to do after he and Kate had a fight.

"Good because we are out of tea."

"And all is well between father and daughter again." Castle announced walking out from his hiding spot with Becca using him as a walking stick.

"What are you letting our daughter do?" Kate asked looking at the 1 year old who was laughing at everything.

"Well she was having fun and we father know it's best to let our stubborn daughters do what they want, right Jim?"

Jim looked away guiltily.

"Not touching that one Rick one fight is enough."

He looked at Kate who was tapping her foot and glaring at him before unhooking the girl from his leg and kissing Kate on her cheek.

"Sorry honey."

"You better be."

Well that's it for now please follow and review.
