Thanks for all of the awesome reviews.

Now Enjoy:)

Three days, three painful days and she still hadn't shown any signs of waking up, they had even gotten him to go home and take a bath but not a nap, naps took too long and he wanted to be there when she woke up, no he needed to be there Becca was happy to see him and he knew that he was being a semi negligent father but it was for her mother. He had gotten back to the hospital looking a bit more pleasing to the eye, except for the bags beginning to form under his pale and tired eyes.

He was sacked out on the chair, exhaustion finally creeping in his eyes lids felt heavy almost like if they were balancing weights, when a sound of knocking metal startled him, his head shot up and the adrenaline rushed through his body as he looked at Kate's limp body and just as he was about to lose hope it happened her hand moved and she took a deep breath in.

Castle waited to make sure she was actually waking up before he pressed the assistance button. He made his way towards her, and Kate opened her eyes slowly before clamming them shut again to hide her eyes from the pain of the extremely bright and sudden sun, he pulled the drapes in the room and gently rested his hand on her leg.

"Kate, Kate honey could you open your eyes for me, the sun is gone now," he pressed the button just as she opened her eyes revealing to clear crystal pools of green.

She didn't say anything she just did a scan of the room before her eyes landed on him, studying him with complete confusion.

His heart fell.

Did she remember him? Why was she looking at him like that? Maybe he should press it again.

Then he realized, it wasn't him it was the feeding tube sticking down her throat which she was about to try to take out.

Wait what?

"Um Kate you shouldn't take that out."

She gave him a glare clearly asking why not.

But luckily he didn't have to say anything because the door flew open and a doctor came rushing in.

"Yes Mr. Castle what seems to be ..., Oh, hello Mrs. Castle, glad to see you're up."

He slipped on a pair of gloves and stood next to Castle.

"I'll just take this tube out now, Mr Castle, go ask the nurse to give you some ice chips, she's going to need them."

He excitedly left to follow the doctor's orders with a big grin on his face, he called Jim and Martha and told them to inform the rest that she was awake, but not to come yet. She would definitely need some space, before seeing anyone.

When he returned Kate was lying in the bed looking frustrated.

"Well Mr. Castle she looks perfectly healthy, we're still going to have to keep a close eye on her heart, but by tomorrow we'll transfer her from the ICU into a normal room and if she continues she can leave by next week Tuesday."

He slipped an ice chip into her mouth as soon as the doctor left and it took at least six more before she was finally able to open her mouth to talk.

"Have you been here the whole time?"

Her voice was weak, soft and hoarse.

"Well not all the time I went home to take a shower like three times, otherwise yea."

She raised her hand up for him to hold it.

"I love you too."

"You remember?" He didn't expect her to remember anything.

"Yea up until Lanie was behind you, everything else was a blank."

"So when can I see Becca and Alexis?" Getting shot made her realize that no one had all the time in the world, you just had to use the time you have to spend with your family and right now she needed her daughters.

"Well you'll have to wait until tomorrow no one under 18 allowed."

She pouted and tried to sit up only to wince at the pull of her stitches and fall back onto the bed.

"Are you okay?" Castle asked helping her into a comfortable upright, lying position.

"No, I feel like I got hit with a truck." She huffed.

"Do you want me to call a nurse? Those pain killers must be wearing off by now."

Kate's eyes shot open.

"No pain killers make me loopy, besides I don't need them, I feel fine."

"Okayyyyyy." He said unconvinced that she was telling the truth, but he wasn't going to fight her on that he would never win at least not right now but with a cut like that she would be asking for those pills soon enough.

She lasted 1 hour, and 5 minutes later it was kicking in.

"So did I really like get shot?"

"Yep."

"And I'm still alive?" Her eye brows were scrunched and she had an adorable pout on her face.

"Thankfully yes."

"Did you cry?"

He chuckled at her, she sounded like a little girl.

"Yes, I did."

"You're so emotional." Her eyes were drooping extremely low now.

"Go to sleep Kate."

"Will you still be here when I wake up?"

He was shocked that she even asked that.

"Always." was the only way he could think of to reassure her that he would never leave her.

Kate closed her eyes and pulled the covers over her nice and snug.

"Love you." she mumbled, but before he could answer she was fast asleep.

It was 8 in the morning when they transferred her she was excited, one more step towards her, leaving this wretched place and going home to her family.

Speaking of family.

"Rick when are Becca and Alexis coming?"

"Well I told them to wait until after 11 to give you some time to settle in, my mother is bringing them and your father."

He knew her so well.

"The others said that they would come by some time during or after lunch." Just then his phone rang, it was Ryan and Esposito probably case related, she didn't need to be bothered by that especially not now so he excused himself to take the call.

Kate hated hospitals they reminded her of the nights she had to spend there with her drunken father, the times she had to be there because accidents on the job and basically everything horrible happened in hospitals. The only happy place in the hospital was the nursery. She ended up having to share a room with someone because all of the private rooms were taken, the couple were staring at her and it took all of her energy not to ask what they were looking at.

"Hi." The cheerful blonde in the bed next to her greeted, and her husband smiled sheepishly.

"Hello."

"I'm Lizzy and this is my husband Ethan."

"Oh well I'm Kate and well my husband went to make a phone call."

"So what are you in for?"

Kate wondered how this woman with pale skin and dark bags could be so happy.

"I got shot in the chest."

The couple stared at her in silence.

"I'm a cop."

Ethan snapped his fingers.

"Oh yea, I read about you in the newspaper. It was at your captain's funeral."

Kate flinched.

"Yea that's me."

Just as Kate was going to try to change the subject the door opened and Castle walked back in.

"Sorry about that Kate, oh and by the way my mother said there're on their way up."

He just then noticed the two people staring at him in shock.

"Lizzy, Ethan this is my husband..."

"Richard Castle." They both said.

"We love your books ." Lizzy explained.

"Please call me Rick if you're going to be roommates with my wife no reason to be formal."

Kate rolled her eyes watching her husband fall into fame hog mode.

"Oh no were're leaving today just waiting for the doctors to bring the papers."

"I'm sorry can you sign some of our books?" Ethan cut his wife off.

"Sure."

"Great I'll go get the books, I'll be right back." He ran off.

"Richard were're here."

Martha announced walking into the room.

"Kate, darling you gave us all such a fright I'm glad you're okay." She said giving him a hug.

"You did honey don't you ever do that to me again." Jim begged not allowing the tears to make it out of his eyes and kissing her forehead.

Becca immediately started to wiggle out from her sisters arms and make her way to Kate, she picked up her daughter and snuggled her into her neck.

"Oh Mommy's so happy to see you sweetie, Mommy missed you." She cooed.

Alexis just looked on digging her shoes into the floor.

"Alexis honey whats wrong?" Kate asked.

The teenager raised her head reveling the tears pooling down her face.

"Come here."

She held out her hands and Alexis settled into them letting her tears out on her shoulders.

"You can lay here next to your sister."

She eased onto the bed and Becca touched her face from her mother's lap.

It was nice to be surrounded by family and quiet.

The door flew open.

"Katherine Houghton Castle, girl if you ever scare me like that, Girl I am going to slap you."

It was nice while it lasted.
