Sorry for taking do long on this chapter, I guess I had a bit of writer's block but it's here and I hope it's acceptable.

Kate turned and inwardly groaned when she saw the glowing red numbers on the clock, 5:47am. Three weeks and she was still waking up for work hours. She contemplated getting up, but Castle would probably murder her for walking without him, he was overly protective eventhough he thought she didn't notice, but she did she noticed how he would walk slightly in front of her whenever they were outside, or how he would pull her closer to him unconsciously in his sleep. Although she was probably no better jumping at every sound heard and the reoccurring nightmares. They were both one big mess because of one tiny bullet that almost killed her. She sighed and snuggled further into her husband's grip and allowed her exhaustion to put her back to sleep.

It was after eight when she opened her eyes again and it was only because of the babbling over the baby monitor. Kate started to slowly ease herself out of bed, only to hear that Castle was already there taking the girl out and placing her on the floor and as she expected a few seconds later tiny feet were running into the room with no shirt on.

"Hey sweetie." She greeted to her daughter.

Becca immediately giggled when she started to blow raspberries on her stomach.

Then Castle came running in.

"Sorry about that Kate, I put her down one second to start her bath and then the next second she's gone."

"It's okay..., Is something burning?" She asked sniffing the air.

"Oh gosh... the Bacon." He screeched getting ready to run off again.

"Do you want me to take Becca."

"No I've got her."

Then he left again leaving one amused baby and a very irritated wife.

He came in a few minutes later with a tray.

"Sorry I turned some of the bacon into extra crispy."

"It's fine."

"Fine? Kate what's wrong?"

What was up with people not believing her whenever she said she was fine.

"Nothing."

"Kate when you say it's nothing then it means something, now come on talk to me."

Becca slid off the bed to play with one of her toys and Kate was disappointed that her only distraction left.

"Kate?" He urged bringing her out of her taught.

"It's really nothing, just that you may be babying me too much."

"What do you mean?"

"Rick you don't even let me walk alone or do anything, I have three months at home Castle and I don't intend to spend it with you babying me."

"I, just want to make sure that you go through the healing process okay."

She placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I know but give me some space to get through this, I'm already going crazy with no work to do, plus you need to finish your book."

His head shoot up. "But..."

"I saw you hiding from Paula, Rick and only god knows what Gina is going to do to you once she gets her hands on you, so do your job."

He pouted but still gave a smile.

"Fine but you're coming with me to the book signings."

He gave her a hug and whispered I love you before kissing her.

"UCK." Becca babbled and put her hands over her face, but still laughing, just like Alexis would do.

They both laughed and slipped off the bed to play with their daughter.

Lunchtime wasn't their usual veg out on the couch and watch a cheesy comedy, instead their house was invaded by the 12 precinct.

"What are you guys doing here?" Castle asked when he opened the door and Lanie walked right past him sitting down on the couch right next to Kate.

"Well we came by to see Kate seeing as none of us have heard from her nor seen her since she got out of hospital." The M.E said clearly speaking in a disapproving tone.

Kate bowed her head and looked away, she couldn't tell them that she was avoiding them.

"Well I...I just needed sometime to get settled."

"So now if I call you, you'll answer and not tell Castle to answer."

She rose her head at her best friend quickly how could her plan backfire on her.

"Yes Lanie it's not like I was trying to hide anyway."

Both the M.E and Castle registered the lie but decided not to call her out on it, she was already on edge.

While the ladies talked about less serious issues, Castle led Ryan and Esposito into the kitchen to talk.

"Did you guys find anything?" He asked almost immediately when they left the room.

Esposito put down the lunch that they bought.

"Nothing, the guy left without leaving a trace."

"So you mean that the killer is still out there and is possibly still looking to kill her."

"Maybe but were're still looking for evidence."

"But in the mean time you guys should go someplace safe." Ryan added.

"How am I supposed to get her someplace safe without having to tell her and then having her try to investigate. "

"Maybe she's over it."

"Ha! Have you met my wife Katherine Castle, she'll do anything to avenge her mother's murder. I don't know maybe I should come to the precinct and help you guys."

"No can do our new boss just came she's tough as nails, her new nickname is Iron Gates and she doesn't have time for delinquent..."

"She threw out Officer Hasting's Writer." Esposito cut off his partner."

"Fine."

He would just have to investigate it at home, Kate was going to kill him.

"I Can't take much more of this Rick." She suddenly said eyes still on the television in their room.

"Much more of what."

"Everyone fussing over me, you all give me this look like I'm going to break at any second, I just want to get away for a while."

He gently turned her face to him.

"Then let's run."

"Really?" She couldn't believe that he was agreeing.

"Yea I mean as long as you're not running from me."

"Never."

"Then whenever you're ready we can go."

"Even right now?" she joked.

"Well not right now, I need my beauty sleep, but anytime after that."

She looked into his eyes and kissed him until she lost her breath and touched their foreheads.

"I love you."

"I love you to."
