Nineteen: Trying to go back to normal

A few weeks after the wormquake, everyone tried to go back to normal. But it wasn't easy, now that Shredder knew that Chris was Caitlin's brother, the two of them had a big target on their backs.

And also the turtles and Caitlin kept running into trouble. They got stuck in a role playing game, the Newtrulizer returned, finding out and fighting Chris's old boss who turned into a pizza mutant, and dealing with the Kraang, they just kept running into problems.

Not only that but something was going on with Caitlin. Chris had gone somewhere out of the city and Caitlin was getting worried about him, and she couldn't stop thinking about how she almost killed Karai and let her anger get the better of her.

So she hadn't even been hanging around the lair that much, she was scared how Splinter would react about how she almost killed his daughter.

If Leo hadn't stopped me…I don't know what could have happened.

Leo was getting worried about her to, he knew that it was bothering her and it was bothering him to. If Caitlin's temper gets the better of her, especially with her powers, she could seriously hurt someone.

But Leo knew Caitlin wouldn't talk to her about it so he decided to ask Master Splinter for some advice.

''Sensei,'' Leo said as he stepped into the dojo ''can I talk to you?'' ''What is it my son?''

''I need to talk to you, about Caitlin.''

''Is everything okay?''

''Not exactly, something has been bothering her.''

''What do you believe is bothering her?''

''…It's hard to explain.'' ''Try as best as you can to explain then.''

Leo sighed. ''Alright. Um… something has been bothering her, and it's been bothering me to, it happened during the wormquake.''

''What happened?''

''…She lost control of her powers…and almost killed Karai.''

The dojo fell silent for a minute but to Leo it seemed like hours. ''I see. Is that why she hasn't been around since it happened?''

''Yes Sensei.''

Splinter thought about this for a moment then spoke up again. ''Have you spoken to her about this?''

''No Sensei, I haven't. I don't think she'll talk to me.''

''How do you know if you don't try talking to her?''

Leo was silent for a moment as he thought about it. ''Your'e right, Sensei I'll talk to her.''

''One thing first, what are your'e thoughts about what Caitlin almost did Karai?'' Leo sighed, ''I don't know Sensei. The truth is, I'm scared she might hurt someone if it happens again. And Sensei, what are your'e thoughts on what Caitlin almost did?''

''I hold no grudge against her. But I think we should help her so she does not hurt anyone or loose control again.''

''Agreed,'' Leo stood up ''thanks Sensei.'' And he walked out of the dojo and went to see Caitlin.

Meanwhile Caitlin was at Chris's apartment sitting on the fire escape and looking up at the sky.

She pulled her knees to her chest and let out a sigh. Things have been really crazy since the wormquake…since… Caitlin shook the thought away, and Chris…where are you? I'm worried sick. Please, come back soon I need you.

She tried to think of something else, but her thoughts kept going back to Karai and what she almost did.

Yet she somehow she snapped back into her thoughts. She remembered how mad she was, how strong she felt when she was trying to kill her, and how afraid she was that she almost took a life.

Suddenly, she heard something on the balcony next to her, or someone Leo.

''Hey Leo.''

''Hey,'' Leo said sitting next to her. There was an awkward silence between them. ''So…how are you doing?''

Caitlin shrugged, ''not great.'' ''And Chris isn't back yet is he?'' ''no and I'm starting to get really worried.''

Leo put a hand on her shoulder, ''I'm sure he'll be back soon.'' ''When Leo it's been weeks already!'' there was another silence and Leo pulled Caitlin close for a hug.

''I'm sure he'll be back soon. I promise.''

Caitlin was silent. Leo stood up with his hand outstretched, ''come on, let's get out her for a while.'' ''where?'' ''anywhere.''

Meanwhile at April's apartment, Casey and April were hanging out.

''Casey will you concentrate?'' April scolded him. She was trying to help him once again, but he was goofing off. ''Sorry Red, but when am I ever gonna use algebra in real life?''

''Well it's important for you to pass because if you don't you'll end up in summer school.'' ''Sorry April.''

''Good. Now what's the square root of-Casey!'' April glared at him as he tried balancing a pencil on his head. ''What?'' April sighed and concentrated using her powers to hit him with the book. ''Ow!'''

''I give up, study on your'e on if you don't want me help you.'' ''April no wait! I'll pay attention I promise!''

''Prove it.''

Casey grabbed his book and tried to focus on the problem. ''Okay well, um…'' suddenly the two heard something on the balcony and saw Raph. April sighed and went over to the window and opened it.

''Hey guys'' Casey threw the book down, ''hey raph glad you came.'' April sighed again, ''I give up.''

''So what are you doing out?'' asked Casey, ''what else? I decided to patrol on my own.'' April closed the window, ''how is everyone?'' ''their okay, back at the lair and Leo is with Caitlin.'' ''How is Caitlin?''

Raph frowned a little, ''she's, well…''

''Well?'' ''not great. She hasn't been at the lair that much and she's been waiting at Chris's apartment for him to come back.'' April nodded, ''yeah I figured. I even tried talking to her, but she wouldn't move.''

''Hmm I'm worried about Caitlin, maybe we should go talk to her.'' ''Actually, I think Leo was going to talk to her.''

''Well I still think we should go.'' ''Wait a minute April,'' said Casey ''let Leo try to talk to her first and if doesn't work we can try to talk to her.'' ''Alright fine.''

Casey looked at Raph, ''so Chris is still missing?'' ''yeah.'' ''Dang. Where do you think he went?'' April sat down on her bed, ''I don't know, the only thing he told me was that he was going to find someone he before coming to New York.''

''Do you know who he was talking about?'' asked Casey.

''No and I'm worried about him.'' ''Don't sweat it April,'' said Raph ''the guy has superpowers i'm sure he'll be fine.''

Casey nodded, ''yeah what could go wrong?''

Meanwhile in a police car, Chris was sitting in the back handcuffed. ''Hmm, maybe I should have taken that left turn on Alburquerque.''

Meanwhile, Leo was taking Caitlin to a nearby rooftop. ''Leo what are we doing?'' ''I just thought we could go someplace quiet for a while.''

''Leo I-'' ''Caitlin, come on talk to me.''

Caitlin sat down on the ground, ''fine.'' ''So…what happened with Karai?''

''I don't wanna talk about it.'' Leo took her hand, ''you know you can talk to me. Please?''

Caitlin sighed, ''alright. I can't stop thinking about what happened.''

''About Karai?'' ''yeah that's why I can't stop thinking about, how I almost…oh god, what's wrong with me?''

Leo put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into a hug. ''Can you tell me what happened when you two were fighting?''

''well..it was weird when were fighting I felt stronger, like nothing could get in my way. I also felt full of rage and..and it felt good. But when you called out to me I stopped and realized what I was doing and I felt terrible.''

''Is that why you haven't come by the lair?''

Caitlin nodded, ''yeah. When I worked for Shredder I-I used my power to hurt people, but I never came close to killing anyone. And I'm worried that I might do it again and Master Splinter may hate me…''

Leo hugged her. ''He doesn't hate you. I talked to him and he said he holds no grudge against you.''

''He doesn't?''

''No, not at all. I promise I'm gonna help you get through this.''

Caitlin nodded and hugged him. ''I'm so glad your'e here to help me.'' ''I promise I always will be.''

Caitlin smiled and hugged him. ''I'm glad you are.'' ''Are you feeling better now?'' ''A lot better.'' Caitlin sighed, ''I just wish Chris will come back soon.'' Leo put his finger under her chin so she was looking into his eyes. ''He will I promise.''

Caitlin nodded, ''I hope so. So can we go back to the lair now?'' Leo smiled, ''yeah we can.'' The two kissed and they headed back to the lair together hand in hand.
