Ok I am so sorry about the lateness of this chapter but here it is, I hope you enjoy it :) I also tried to make the medical stuff as right as possible but excuse me if it isn't.
Three weeks later, Castle had managed to get Kate to warm up to the idea of him shadowing her again. And he was starting his shadowing from the same week, and they had come to an agreement that he would shadow her three days a week and they would send Becca to a preschool so she could interact with other children and Castle would spend the rest of the two days with Becca. It had taken them the previous week to get her to settle down but now she would go into her class leaving them with a mare kiss on the cheek.
They were in the kitchen making breakfast with Becca helping to wash the fruit, even though she was doing more eating than washing, when Martha came in. "Good morning darlings," she said placing her purse on the counter.
"Hello mother," Castle said the same time Kate said "Hi"
"I have a favour to ask you all," She said causing Castle and Kate to look at each other. "I was wondering if I could borrow my beautiful granddaughter on Saturday, Burt is coming to visit my studio and he's bringing his grandson who is around the same age as Becca.
"Sure mother, as long as Becca agrees you can take her." Castle said.
Martha headed to where Becca was. "You want to spend the day with me don't you?"
Rebecca nodded her head excitedly, I wanna go with Grams."
"Well there you go." Castle said.
Martha picked up her purse. "Great I'll tell you the rest of the information later." She said waving her hands as she exited the apartment.
Castle was the one to drop off Becca at preschool, he would go to the precinct later.
Kate walked into the crime scene her stomach started to feel upset and her world was spinning.
"Beckett... Kate," Lanie yelled when she couldn't get her best friend's attention.
Kate covered her nose. "Yea," She answered.
"You ok...?" she asked.
But Kate had already made her way to the dumpster throwing up everything she ate.
"Uh oh, we all remember what happened the last time this happened." Esposito said as Lanie helped Kate to her car.
"Lanie you deal with Beckett, we'll get Perlmutter to finish off." Ryan said.
"Girl, are you pregnant again?" Lanie asked as she drove through the traffic.
"Well I don't know I took a pregnancy test and it was negative." Kate said.
"How many did you take?" She asked.
"Only one,"
"Well there's a possibility that it could be wrong, so I'll do a test for you." Lanie said.
After the test was done Kate headed back to the precinct despite her best friend's advice to take the day off.
"Hey," Castle said placing a soothie and a salad.
"Thanks," she said accepting the food from her husband.
"Well your father says he's picking up Becca from preschool today, he wants to take her to the theatre to watch a children's play that Melissa wrote and is directing he said he's just going to let her spend the night and he'll drop her off at preschool tomorrow. My mother is going on a date with Burt so she won't be back until tomorrow and Alexis is at a sleepover so it's just you and me tonight." He said giving her a smile.
Kate smiled "That's great, I have something to tell you, but it'll wait until tonight, I don't want you to get too excited too soon."
"Now you've gotten me excited, what is it?" Castle said.
She shook her head. "Tonight."
It was two hours later when Esposito announced that there was a new lead.
"Bc, Castle, you coming?"
Suddenly Kate took some deep breaths grabbing onto the table as she stood.
"Kate, are you ok?" Castle asked when Kate still continued to take deep breaths.
"I'm fi...,"
And the last thing she heard was Castle reaching out to catch her and Esposito yelling her name.
Castle lifted her to the car and Esposito used the siren to help them through the traffic.
Lanie arrived at the hospital to see Castle, Ryan and Esposito sitting in the waiting room.
"What happened?" She asked sitting in the chair next to Esposito and a sleeping man.
"She just passed out." Ryan answered.
"Oh no that's probably because... Did the doctor tell you guys anything?"
"No." Castle said.
And less than ten minutes later the doctor came out of the room.
"How is she?" Castle asked.
Standing up like the rest of the group
"Well, she's good now. She's awake." She said looking back at the rest. "Mr Castle if you'll please follow me." The doctor said.
He gave the group a look and followed the woman through the room, and he headed straight to Kate and she gave him a weak smile.
"Remember when I told you I was getting fat and went on a diet?" She asked.
Castle nodded his head.
"Well guess what?" She said.
He looked confused.
"I'm pregnant I was going to tell you that Lanie did a test this morning but surprise this is so much better." She said.
"That's right, your wife is in hospital because of lack of food to feed the baby and her blood pressure is slightly over what it should be, your gynaecologist has to monitor that very closely."
"Anyway we're just about to do the ultrasound to make sure everything is all right and Mrs Castle said you would want to see. The doctor said.
She squeezed the cold gel onto her stomach and Kate shivered. "Before we start can I ask a question?"
"Of course you can." The doctor said.
Kate started to talk. "I took a pregnancy test about 3 or 4 weeks ago and the test was negative."
"Well around then it was too early. I think you're around five weeks along right now."
Kate nodded in understanding and the doctor continued. "Yep, two strong heartbeats."
"Two heartbeats, please tell me one of them is mine."
The doctor chuckled. "Nope you're having twins, see there's baby A and baby B." She said pointing to the blobs on the screen.
Castle's grip on Kate's hand tightened. "Twins, as in two babies?"
The doctor laughed at his reaction.
He laughed and then ran out to the hallway excitedly. "Everything's fine, she's pregnant again with twins."
"Twins." They yelled in unison.
"Yup, you guys can go home now everything is fine, she is being discharged as we speak." Castle said before entering the room before they could congratulate him.
Then he called his mother who was with Alexis and Becca after he had called them frantically telling them to pick up Becca from school that Kate was in hospital and asked if she could take her home.
And after they called Kate's dad it was time to leave the hospital.
They got into the car and drove home and Kate was quiet, too quiet.
"Kate, are you ok?" He asked.
"Yea I'm just thinking about raising two babies at once."
He laid a hand on her thigh. "We'll do it together."
And he gave her a reassuring look as he said the one word that made everything better. "Always."
