Alright guys here's a new chapter. Sorry for the lateness but I had exams.

Kate woke up early, well early for her when she was pregnant anyway. She had the day off and Jim had invited the whole family over to make Kate a rocking chair. He claimed it was the only way to calm her down when she was a baby. She knew it was another one of his plots to have her spend time with Melissa. Yep he had lots of those plans.

Castle sat up next to her, "Are you okay? Is it the babies?"

She shook her head and Castle looked confused. "Then why else would you be up at 5:27am on your day off?"

"Just thinking," she answered.

He gently pulled her back down onto the bed. "Want to talk about it?"

She shook her head, "It's nothing serious."

"Well get back to sleep, your thinking is keeping me up and I need to get my sleep, gotta keep my stunning appearance to look hot making a rocking chair." He told her.

Kate rolled her eyes. "I thought you needed your rest since you have no idea how to make a rocking chair and need your strength."

"That too,"

He put her head onto his chest and traced shapes onto her back and within minutes she was asleep and so was he.

The next time she got up was to a small figure poking her stomach. "Mommy, mommy!"

She groaned and opened her eyes, "Huh."

"Wake up we have to go to gramps today and Apple and Plum have to eat." Becca told her gently tapping Kate's face when she tried to go back to sleep. Apple and plum were the nicknames given to the unborn twins

Kate gave up and sat up rubbing her hand through her hair to get the strans out of her face. She entered into the Kitchen where Alexis was reading a book on her Ipad. It was The Hunger Games the last time they spoke and Castle flipped over a pancake and gestured to all the delectable foods on the counter. "Take your pick momma Castle." Scrambled eggs, Bacon, pancakes, oats. How was she supposed to decide then her eye caught it.

"The fruits win again." Castle announced in an mc's voice. "These little ones are going to be really health, so nothing like their second oldest sister or their father." He paused. "Come to think of it not their mother either."

"Hey," Kate pouted putting a strawberry in her mouth.

Castle laughed, "Come on you know you're a junkie too." He looked at Alexis dramatically, "That means they got it from you."

The phone rang and Alexis gladly slipped away during the distraction and so did Kate leaving Becca with her father.

"I should make something for them to eat it's a long drive." Melissa told Jim as they sat on the couch watching some morning show.

Jim shook his head but before he could say anything she spoke.

"What's Kate's favourite meal?" She asked.

"Mel, she's pregnant what might have been her favorite dish before might be her worst enemy now." He answered.

She nodded, "You're right." She was silent for a little while.

"She doesn't like me does she?"

The sadness in her voice pierced Jim's heart her moods almost affected almost as much as Johanna's used to. "Melissa honey, she likes you. It's just that she's still getting used to you."

Melissa looked away then back at him. "Jim it's been almost a year."

He was quiet a million different ideas of how to cheer her up flashing through his mind. "Kate isn't very good at sharing her feelings ever since Johanna died."

"Yea but she doesn't even share a simple conversation with me. Iknow she doesn't want another mother and I'm not trying to do that but we can at least be friends." She argued.

Jim nodded his head. "Then keep trying."

Melissa nodded her head, "I will, now go set up the garage they'll be here soon."

Rick pulled into the yard and Castle looked across at Kate who was silent almost the whole drive, he knew that Kate wasn't as comfortable around Melissa as everyone else was and Kate had very poor control over her emotions and keeping her thoughts to herself.

"Alright everyone, we're here. Let's ALL be on our best behaviour." He announced.

Kate rolled her eyes, "Let's just get this over." She said stepping out of the car.

They stood up at the door and rang the bell and Melissa opened the door. "Hi,oh my gosh it's been a while since I've last seen you. Alexis you really are maturing into a lovely young lady, Rebecca you're turning into a big girl. Rick I've read your latest book, aweome and Kate you've gotten so big."

Kate's face turned angry and she looked at the woman in utter disbelief. "Excuse me?'

Melissa's eyes widened, "I mean the babies really are growing, I uh….um you're father is in the garage."

They followed her out to the garage and jim was waiting tools on the table and Jim wearing googles. Becca immediately ran over to him and hugged him and afterwards Jim took in Castle's appearance.

"Rick I thought I told you to wear your oldest clothes." He told the younger man.

Castle looked down at his clothes and looked back up. "These are my oldest clothes."

Jim shook his head. "Come one lets go find some older clothes."He put his hand on Castle's back leading him into the house.

Alexis stood up, "I'm going to take Becca to the stream."

And then the two realized they were alone and no one could guess which one was more petrified.

There was a few minutes of incredibly awkward silence as they sat in the garage Kate trying a million different ways to get out and escape the silence. Finally Melissa couldn't take it anymore.

"So how's the pregnancy going so far?" She asked.

Kate looked up, "It's good for now."

The older woman nodded her head, the answers were vague but at least she was talking. "I remember when I was pregnant with my twins I was so miserable, I just wanted them out."

Kate turned to her, "You had twins"

Melissa noddedher head. "I sure did two boys."

"I feel huge it's a little 6 months now and I feel so huge." Kate told her.

"Just wait till you getto the final stages you'll think there's a boxing match in your stomach." Melissa told her a grin on her face.

"Can't wait for that." Kate told her in a sarcastic voice.

The men came back and Castle and Jim shared a look an excited expression on Jim's face.

The two women didn't talk between the two of them alone. They chatted with the men for the rest of the time but Melissa marked it as an improvement.
