Hey guys here's the next chapter and I have one little heads up. Me and AVP5 are going to do the Invasion story arc, which I'm totally excited for, and then we move onto to season 3 :) okay, well that's the news, let's get started! I don't own the turtles or any of the characters from the show, they belong to their rightful owners, I only own Caitlin and AVP5 owns Chris. Okay guys, hope u like and enjoy!
Twenty-Seven: More heartbreak, calm before the storm
It had been over a week, and Caitlin had never seen the turtles and her brother so torn apart. Splinter had not left the dojo, not even to eat and had been in constant meditation, while the turtles, April and Casey patrolled the streets of New York looking for her.
Caitlin had been trying to talk Splinter about what happened, but he never said anything, Leo was trying to comfort her about it, but Caitlin didn't want to be comforted.
She had been trying to use her powers, trying to find Karai, but she had been getting weaker and weaker. But she didn't care, she felt like it was her fault Karai got captured.
And Chris? well he was devastated. He blamed himself for not being there for Karai or his sister. Not only that, Chris hadn't been acting himself, and he felt heartbroken all over again.
Caitlin was at the apartment while it was raining outside. She was trying to get herself out of the funk she was feeling while also trying comfort her brother. But it was working real well since she was still thinking about what happened.
She then heard a knock on the door and opened it, revealing it to be April. ''Hi April.''
''Hey.'' Caitlin let her in and they both sat down on the couch. ''Anything yet?'' ''I'm sorry Caitlin, there's no sign of her.
Caitlin stood up, ''I can't believe this! why can't we find her!?''
''Caitlin, I'm sure we'll find her, everything's gonna be ok.'' Caitlin sighed, ''I doubt that.''
''Why do you say that?'' April asked. ''Why? take at look we've been through April. Shredder chasing us, the Kraang almost destroying the city, Tiger Claw, and all his other henchmen. It's like no matter what we do it will never be enough.''
April walked over to Caitlin. ''Caitlin I know how you feel. When I first met the turtles I was going through a lot of problems myself. My father was taken, and I was being hunted down by the Foot. But even if we stop the Foot and the Kraang, things won't go back to normal right away, but they will.
Caitlin smiled a little, ''Yeah I guess your right.'' But she couldn't stop thinking about Chris. And she wanted to cheer him up by finding Karai.
Caitlin walked to his room and opened the door to talk to him but she realized he wasn't in his room. She looked around and saw his window opened. ''He snuck out….''
''April!'' ''what? what is it?'' ''It's Chris we gotta find him.''
*…*
Back at lair, Donnie was in his lab trying to make an anti-mutagen when Leo walked in. ''Hey Donnie.'' ''…Hey.'' ''So, do you think that anti-mutagen will work on Karai?'' ''I don't know Leo.''
''What do you mean?'' ''When we were in Stockman's lab, I saw the mutagen being mixed with different formulas and I think he did something to it,''
''Well what's the difference?''
''I've done my own experiments with the mutagen and I've seen that it works different with the anti-mutagen I made to April's dad.''
Leo sighed. He knew the lab got burned down, leaving no trace of any information Stockman used. But he then got an idea, ''What if we get a blood sample from Karai?''
''Hm. It may work, but the hard is finding her to get a sample.''
''Then we should go look for Karai.'' Donnie nodded standing up, ''should we tell Splinter?'' ''No I don't think so. He hasn't left the dojo at all…''
''Yeah I can understand that. But maybe we should take Caitlin. Her powers might be able to track Karai.''
''I'm not sure, especially because of what happened with Karai.'' He pulled out his t-phone, ''I'll call April.'' ''She's with Caitlin.''
''How do you know that?'' ''Oh April called me.''
Leo nodded, ''Okay, so let's go meet up with them.''

Meanwhile with Chris, he was visiting some of the places he went with Karai. The coffee shop where they first met, the skating ring and the pizzeria where they admitted there love for one another.
It caused a pain to appear in his heart when he passed these places and when he recalls the memories of his time with Karai. It is a feeling he never thought he would feel again after learning what happened to his parents. When he grew up to find out what happened to them and what he had to go through growing up without a family. When he got his sister back he felt happy, but when he was with Karai he was happier because he found love.
After finding out what happened to Karai his heart shattered and he felt so much guilt for what happened. His sister claimed it wasn't his fault what happened to Karai, but it was in his mind. If he hadn't gotten over to meet with Shredder to make a deal for peace then he would have been there to help Karai and his sister. He would have saved them and Karai wouldn't have turned into a mutant.
He felt like he let her down and he can't forgive himself for letting it happened. Now they don't know where Karai is or if she is even herself. Looking up he noticed the rain is coming down even harder and so he decides to seek shelter. He goes into a nearby abandoned store and decides to wait out the rain.
While he waits his thoughts go back to Karai and their time together. "Karai, I hope you are okay.''
After searching through the streets through the pouring rain, Caitlin finally found her brother taking shelter near a abandoned store. ''Chris! I've been looking for you.''
"Caitlin, what are you doing here?"
''I've been looking for you.''
"Well, you found me. Now go back to the apartment."
''No I won't.''
"Please, I just want to be alone.'' ''Chris please, just talk to me…''
"I don't feel like it."
''….''
Caitlin sensed his pain, his sadness. ''Please Chris, I'm here for you.''
"I'm fine. I just need some alone time."
''No Chris I'm not leaving you alone. I know you miss Karai I do to, but you need talk to me, tell me how your'e feeling, avoiding me and everyone else won't help, telling me how you feel will.''
"How do you know it will? What if what I am feeling is because what happened was my fault? If I hadn't gone to meet with Shredder to make that stupid deal I would have been there to help you guys. I could have even help keep Karai from mutating, but instead I got taken out and she got turned into a snake because of me."
''No Chris it wasn't your fault.''
"How do you know it wasn't?"
''If anyone's to blame, it's me I couldn't help Karai when she needed me.''
"But if I hadn't gone to the deal then you guys wouldn't have gone off to fight them alone."
''You were only trying to protect us.''
''And I failed.'' Caitlin fell silent. ''No it' wasn't your fault or mine for not helping her. It was was Shredder. It was him that broke the chains that caused Karai to fall in, his blind vengeance that turned Karai into a mutant, and it was his stupid obsession for power that has caused all this suffering to happen. Now we can sit around here blaming ourselves, or we can get back up, find Karai, turn her back to normal, and stop Shredder once and for all.
"You really think we can beat him? Even after all that has happened?"
Caitlin nodded. ''Yeah I do.''
A small smile begins to appear across Chris's face. "Good, because I still want to kick his ass for what he did."
''Hey I call dibs first.''
"Not if your too slow."
The two siblings laughed as April finds them, and she was glad to see them in a better mood. They saw her and told her that they needed to go see the others and make a plan to find Karai.

As soon as April, Caitlin, and Chris reached the lair they saw Leo waiting for them.
''Leo, what are you doing?'' Chris asked. ''I was just waiting for you guys to get back'' Leo replied.
''Where are the others?'' April asked him, ''there inside trying to figure out a plan.'' Leo looked at Caitlin, ''can I talk to you for a minute Caitlin?''
''Okay.'' Chris and April went inside while took Caitlin's hand and walked down the tunnel. Leo had decided to take her a little for a little walk through the sewers, since they really haven't been able to talk for a while.
''So Caitlin are you feeling okay?''
''Yeah I'm feeling a little better.'' ''I'm glad.'' Leo pulled her close to him and gave her a kiss. Caitlin blushed a little and Leo couldn't help but grin. ''Haven't done that in a while.''
''Yeah I've missed this.'' Leo nodded and pulled her close again. ''I think when this is all over and we get Karai back, me and you should go out on another date.''
Caitlin smiled, ''I'd like that.'' Leo smiled and kissed her again. ''I'm glad. Come on, we better get back to the others, before Chris comes to hunt us down.''
Caitlin laughed, ''Good idea.'' They kissed again and headed back to the lair. But what Caitlin didn't realize was that this was going to be the last time they would be together for a long time.
