It was 2:41am and she was awake, not that she couldn't sleep but because the two babies in her stomach were having an intense boxing match in her stomach causing her not to sleep. She could wake Castle up and keep them both up until whenever her sons decided to go to sleep or she could go watch some television for some entertainment, no need for both of them to loose their sleep. Kate slowly eased out of bed as quietly as she could for a woman who had twins and walked towards the kitchen, some snacks wouldn't hurt but before she could even reach the kitchen there was a soft sniffle then a sob. Kate sped up only to see Alexis sitting at the island sobbing.

"Alexis, what's wrong?" Kate asked.

Alexis looked up at her and Kate almost gasped out loud. The girl hardly wore makeup but her mascara was streaked down her face and her blue eyes filled with tears.

Quickly wiping her eyes and sniffling again she replied. "Nothing, what about you why are you up past 2?"

Kate shook her head, no way was she changing the subject. "You first."

Alexis didn't say anything for a while and Kate waited patiently until she spoke. "Ashley and I broke up well it was Ashley's idea."

Everything was silent as the news sunk in and Kate took a seat next to the heartbroken girl. "Why'd you break up?"

"He said the long distance thing wasn't working out and that we should break up. I gave him over a year of my life and this is how it ends?"

Kate placed a hand on her back and rubbed in circular motions. "Honey I know it hurts but these things happens."

Alexis shook her head. "I think I'm in love with him mom he is the only person who I thought could understand me."

Kate just stayed silent.

"I lost my virgi…," She stopped her face turning red and in shock of what she just admitted.

"Alexis you don't ever do that until you are sure that you are ready and that the relationship is going somewhere." Kate told her.

"It was once and I really thought I was ready and that the relationship was going to last." She sobbed "I feel so stupid."

"You're not stupid, now come on let's grab some ice cream, some snacks and come sit with your brothers and I, watch Disney movies and veg out on the couch." and that was how Kate spent the remainder of the early morning until she fell asleep around 4 with Alexis asleep resting on her side until Castle woke up around 7:30am to make breakfast.

"What are you guys doing out here?" Castle asked when Kate waddled into the Kitchen. "Alexis had a rough night and your sons wouldn't let me sleep."

He gave her a kiss on the lips, "I'm sorry, why didn't you wake me?"

"Just because I have to loose sleep doesn't mean you have to, too." Kate told him.

Castle shook his head, "Yes it does, we're in this together, remember that." "Now tell me what happened to Alexis."

"Her and Ashley broke up,"

Castle's eyes narrowed with dark vengeance "I'm gonna cripple that kid."

"Rick you and I both know that teenage relationships hardly ever last." Kate said.

He let out a long sigh, "I know but he hurt my baby."

"He did, but I know exactly how to fix it." She said nodding her head. "Get Becca ready, we're going shopping."

"Rise and shine Alexis," Kate all but yelled.

The girl slowly sat up, "Huh, what's going on?"

"Yes Ashley broke up with you and when a boy breaks up with you he lowers your self confidence but today we're getting it back.w We're going shopping now get dressed and let's go, hopefully I don't go into labor today."

"You're still 7 months but just in case keep your phone close and call me if anything, ANYTHING….. feels off….." Castle started to lecture.

Kate cut him off, "Okay babe got it. Alexis get dressed, I'm going to get Becca ready."

"I'm serious Kate." Castle said.

"I know hun."

The mall was full, after all it was a Saturday afternoon. They had gone through four stores so far and Alexis was just coming out of her shell and had picked a few tops and a pair of jeans which was way less things than what her sister had chosen and made Kate buy.

"Come on let's try this shoe store." Kate said pointing to the store she usually got hers from. "Nothing like a pair of cute shoes to boost your confidence."

They walked into the store and Alexis immediately wandered off to look at the shoes lined on the walls, she picked up a pair of sandals inspecting the shoe adorned with rhinestones before placing them back and picking up a pair of heels. "I want to try these," She decided.

"Well, try them on but remember you don't want to try on shoes that are too high for you to handle." Kate advised.

Alexis looked down at the 3 inch heels, "I'll be fine."

She slipped them on and a smile appeared on her face as she looked up to Kate. "I like these."

"That's a good choice miss, they look great on you and those are on sale along with these other items." The store clerk told them.

"Oh I like these and these!" Alexis exclaimed picking up a pair of studded stilettoes and a pair of boot similarly to the ones Kate had at home.

Kate sat down and let out a puff resting her hand on her stomach. "Choose whatever you want girl." Three hours later and several stores later Alexis finally seemed to have her confidence back.

"Let's go I'm ready." Alexis announced.

Which was why at 6pm when she appeared down the stairs all dressed for a party Castle froze.

Alexis laughed along with Kate at his fish face expression.

"You look great Alexis." Kate told her looking at the girl wearing her new dress flowing and ending a few inches before her knee as well as her new stilettoes.

"Dad?" She asked.

Castle finally pop out of his daze. "You look so mature and….. and great. Have a great time honey."

The door bell rang and a few other teenage girls stood there. "I'll be back by 10." She promised.

The last thing they heard was on of the girls say, "You look different, but a good different."

Castle smiled at Kate as he shut the door. "Thank you."

"For what?" Kate asked looking puzzled.

"For taking her out for being a mother to her. She really needs a woman in her life, a younger woman who knows how to handle these things. Thank you for being there. You're a great mother.

"I'll always be there for Alexis, I love her." Kate said.

"And I love you," Castle told her kissing her lightly on the lips.

"I love you too."
