"Callie can I ask you something?" he said looking sadly at me. "You always can." I said going over to him. I could tell that it has something to do with his dad. "You lost your mom. How did you really deal with it. Don't give me that one day at a time thing either. You had to have done something about it." he said and I sighed. "I was focused on protecting Jude that I never had time for any grief. Once we got to your house I had time to think about it and I did. I knew that she was in a better place. Mike is in that same better place. You have got to know that." I said and Brandon nodded. "I know I just can't help but think that he was taken from me because I got you pregnant." Brandon said and I nodded. "Brandon everything happens for a reason. Mike wasn't taken because I got pregnant. It was his time and you couldn't have changed that. He might be the guardian Angel for our baby who knows. The only thing I do know is that he would be proud to be a granddad and I know he was always very proud of you." I said feeling a tear fall. "I know you're right I just can't bring myself to believe it completely." he said and I nodded. I knew it would take time and I am more than willing to give him all the time he needs.
When we got back to the house it was almost time for my doctor's appointment. Stef and Lena came out. Brandon and I got out of the mustang and into Stef's SUV. We headed off to the doctor's office and I was getting nervous. We drove in silence which really didn't help anything. When we got there Lena signed me in and filled out the paperwork. We waited to be called back and I grabbed Brandon's hand. "I'm a little scared." I whispered to him. "Me too." he said giving my hand a squeeze. "Callie Jacobs" Called a nurse. We all got up and followed her back. She lead us to a room. "Alright I just need to get your weight and blood pressure then I need to ask you a few questions then I will send just you to the lab." she said and I nodded. I stepped on the scale and gasped. I only weighed 110Lbs. She checked my blood pressure and said that it was really good. "Do you take in medications?" asked the nurse. "Vitamins that's it." I answered and she wrote it down. "When was your last period?" I had to think a little before answering. "Last month at the beginning." She wrote that down as well "Alright Callie just follow me the rest of you can stay in here it wont be but a few minutes."The nurse said. I followed the nurse to the lab and had blood drawn and peed in a cup before I was lead back to the room. "The results will be right back. The doctor will be right in with them." the nurse said before leaving the room.
After about ten minutes the doctor walked in. "I'm Dr. Fisher. Who is Callie Jacobs?" I raised my hand. "And the rest of you are?" she asked. "This is Brandon, his mom Stef, and her partner Lena." I said and the doctor nodded. "Well I have some good news and bad news. You are pregnant however your iron levels are really low." She said and I nodded. " What does that mean?" Lena asked. "Well I can't give her anything for her iron levels but I had the same problem when I was pregnant. I suggest that she start taking iron supplements along with prenatal vitamins." she said. "I also have some lists of things to avoid and some things to do. I want to see you every month." I nodded feeling the tears roll down my face. I wiped them away quickly. Dr. Fisher handed me the papers and a form I have to take to a lady to pay for this visit and schedule my next one. "See you next month Callie." Dr. Fisher said before opening the door and letting us all walk through. "We'll get everything squared away you two go on out to the car." Stef said taking the slip from my hands and walking over to the lady.
Brandon and I walked slowly back to the SUV without saying a word. "What are we going to do?" I asked and he shook his head. "Take it one day at a time I guess. Let me see those papers." he said and I handed him the do's and don't's list that Dr. Fisher had given me. "Don't drink caffeine, no heavy lifting, must be as stress free as possible. This seems like a whole list of don't's" he said and I rolled my eyes. "Well now that we know for sure that I am pregnant I won't be able to do a lot of things and it wouldn't surpirse me if Lena and Stef take me out of school and start home schooling me." I said and he laughed. "They might do that to both of us." he said and I laughed alittle.
Stef and Lena made their way out of the doctor's office and over to the car. "So when we get home I am going to see what baby stuff I have left from when we fostered them and then we can sit down and start making a list of things that the two of you will need. But first we are going to go get Callie the vitamins that Dr. Fisher suggested." Stef said and I nodded. "Let me see all of those papers she handed you." Lena asked and I handed them to her. "I'm going to talk to the principle and see if I can get the two of you home bound for a while. At least until after the baby is born. That way Brandon can get a part time job and Callie you can rest some." Lena said looking threw the papers I had handed her.
When we reached the drug store Lena and I went in while Stef and Brandon talked. "Excuse me but where are your prenatal vitamins?" Lena asked the clerk. She told us where they were and we walked back there. Lena filled a basket with all the new vitamins I would have to take. "Do you want anything else while we are here? A candy bar or something?" she asked and I nodded. We headed to the candy isle and I picked up a few bags of mini candy bars before we headed to check out.
The drive home was kind of quiet, for me anyway. Everyone else talked amongst themselves however I really didn't feel like talking so I leaned my head on Brandon's shoulder and shut my eyes. When we pulled up to the house Brandon carried me to our little house and laid me on my bed before taking off my shoes and his. He climbed in beside me and pulled me to him. "So do you want me to move into your room? That way my room can be turned into the nursery?" he asked and I nodded against his chest. "Please." I said and he kissed the top of my head. "Anything to keep my girl happy." he said and I looked up to him. "Your girl?" I said a little shocked. "Yes my girl." he said and I couldn't keep the smile off my face.
"You know we still have to tell everyone else right?" He said and I sighed. "Everyone as in Jude and Jesus you mean." I said and he laughed. "Yeah." he said. "You get some sleep. I'll come get you for dinner okay?" he said and I nodded. He got up and kissed me before walking out. It didn't take me long to fall into a peaceful sleep.
