Thirty-Seven: The Pig and the Rhino
While later that night at Shredder's lair, all seemed quiet. But in Baxter Stockman's lab screams could be heard from the newly mutated Steranko and Zeck.
Zeck was now a warthog, while Steranko was a huge and powerful rhino.
''Look at me! you've turned me into a dang pig! I don't wanna be a pig! the ladies don't love pigs! couldn't you turn me into something cool? like a mongoose?''
Steranko pushed Zeck out of the way, ''you mutate me into giant talking rhino? you will pay for this Shredder!''
Tiger Claw, Fishface, Stockman and Razhar were about to spring into action when Shredder stopped them, ''No, I will deal with them myself.''
The two new powerful mutants roared. ''Eat this!'' Zeck shouted as he fired lasers at him which Shredder easily avoided and punched Zeck right in the gut.
Steranko tried to charged at him, but Shredder kicked him, knocking him back. ''Ivan Steranko, Anton Zeck, you will either serve me or fall by my hand.''
Steranko and Zeck groaned and slowly stood up. ''Being a pig does have limited employment options. The bacon's in.''
''Ya, we serve you Shredder, for now. What is it you want us to do?''
''You found my daughter once, you must find her again. Fail me, and I will introduce you to new forms of pain.''
*…*
Meanwhile, the turtles, Master Splinter, April, Casey and Caitlin, were moving into Chris's lair where he was staying.
''Uh, we could use a little help here Donnie'' said Leo as him and Raph tried to move a couch in. ''I am helping, I'm trying to come up with places where Karai could be hiding.''
''Did you come up with anything?'' Caitlin asked as she set down a box and sat next to him.
''The last word she said to me was comet…'' Leo said sadly as Raph and him set the couch down.
''So what's that supposed to mean?'' Casey said immediately jumping on the couch. ''A giant comet's coming? the Earth's doomed?''
''Sounds like it could be a location,'' said April ''maybe where she's hiding out?''
''Donnie's found three locations with the word comet in them,'' said Leo ''D?''
''We got comet cleaners on Bleeker street here, Earth vs. The Comet Creeps is playing at the Argosy Theatre here, and then we got the Coney Comet roller coaster on Coney Island here.''
''Ooh, ooh, can I check out the comet rollercoster please? come on Leo hook a turtle up.'' Leo rolled his eyes, ''Donnie and April you take comet cleaners, Raph and Casey, you take the movie theatre. Me, Mikey and Caitlin will check out Coney Island.''
''Aw yeah boy! thanks Leo''
''Hang on,'' Caitlin looked over at Chris, ''what about you?''
Chris checked the locations and began thinking which of them would be a safe place for Karai to hide out in. "They sound like good places for her to hide out in, but not sure for certain where she would stay at. We both agreed if anything happened we would meet up here at this place."
''Maybe she's hiding somewhere else.''
''You think so Caitlin?'' asked Leo. ''It's possible…maybe we should check all these places out first.''
"Great, you guys do that and I'll go make sure we don't deal with any Kraang or Foot guys."
Caitlin looked at her brother, ''Are you sure Chris?''
Chris pats his sister on the head messing up her hair a little. "Aww don't worry I'll be fine. Just make sure when you find Karai do not confront her. Wait for me and I'll calm her down," Chris takes off leaving his friends behind.
Caitlin sighed, but knew her brother would be okay. After Chris left, Donnie threw a bottle at Leo. ''I have just enough retro-mutagen brewed for three doses. Each team gets one it'll be weeks before I brew more.''
''So in other words don't waste it gotcha'' said Raph.
''Karai's condition is unique. There's no guarantee this will work on her.''
April put her hand on his shoulder. ''All we can do is try Donnie.''

Meanwhile on the other side of the city, the newly mutated Steranko and Zeck had started their mission looking for Karai.
''Man Steranko you are one ugly horn headed jurassic looking fool'' said Zeck as the two stopped on a rooftop for a minute and Steranko charged through a door.
''I am Rhinocerous'' he said as he threw the door off the roof. ''Listen comrade Zeck forget Karai, We must destroy turtles instead. For what the did to me-I mean us!''
''You're right Big S, if they hadn't interfered at the docks, none of this would've happened. I say we call those turtles wigs back, flip it, and call the wig back again.''
''I say we splits up track them down and squish them where the stand.''
''Shoot my piggy nose is better than a bloodhounds'' Zeck replied as he started sniffing the air. ''Hmm….Oh snap I distinctly smell aroma de turtle.'' He grinned as he snuck over to comet cleaners.
*…*
April and Donnie climbed out of the old cleaners. ''No sign of Karai, the place is completely abandoned.''
''Alright, one location down, I'll call Leo maybe they had better luck.'' April pulled out her t-phone, but just as she was about to call, her powers started acting up.
''April?''
''Someone, someone is watching us.'' The two took out their weapons as silence filled the alley.
''Hmm well I don't see any-'' Donnie was interrupted as something hit him with his Bo staff.
''Oh what's his name, the fly guy, master bughead. He fixed my invisibility tech. Wow to the wow to the-'' just then he was cut off as April hit him with her Tessen revealing the voice to be Zeck.
''Aw man, how'd you find me?''
''Cause you don't shut up! who is this guy Donnie?''
''He was a thief named Zeck. Looks like he got a little mutated.'' The two charged for him, as Zeck shot something that looked like glue at them catching April and knocking her against the wall.
''Donnie!''
Donnie tried to hit him, but he got hit with one of Zeck's lasers. ''No worries, my lasers were set to stun. We gotta keep you guys alive to bait your turtle bros.'' He turned and saw the retro mutagen that Donnie dropped.
''Hmm what's this?'' He also picked up Donnie's t-phone showing where the others were going. ''Ha!'' he quickly used his phone his suit and called Steranko.
''I got some sweet news baby Ivan, not only did I catch a turtle, I know exactly where the other freaks are going. Check out the Argosy theatre on Houston. Me and my new homies are going to Coney Island.''
He picked up Donnie and April and threw them into a back of a van he found. ''Let us out! help!''
*…*
Meanwhile at the Argosy theatre, Raph and Casey snuck around looking for Karai. ''Man these ooze specs aren't working right,'' said Raph ''maybe I should call Donnie.''
''It's not your specs dude we searched every inch of the place. Karai's definitely not here.''
''Let's check one last time maybe-''
Suddenly, Steranko jumped down scaring the hell out of them. ''Well, well, well, comrade Zeck made good on info. Turtle here, and strange human friend?''
''Whoa,'' said Casey as he threw his hockey mask on ''another mutant? dude, he's kind of rad.''
''Rad, and strong'' Steranko replied as he picked up a car and threw it at them. Raph slid under the car and charged at Steranko. He went to attack, but Steranko punched him in the face.
Casey tried going after him with his exploding hockey pucks, but Steranko knocked him back. Raph tried to attack again, but Steranko charged and him, slammed him to the ground and threw him against the wall.
''Raph, wake up Raph! wake up!''
*…*
While that was going on, Leo, Caitlin and Mikey were searching around Coney Island. ''Dude Leo this is so cool can we go on the whirlwind? what about the wheel of fun? and we play robot ring toss please?''
Caitlin and Leo gave him a look. ''You promised you wouldn't goof around Mikey.''
''Yeah, seriously we don't wanna scare Karai off.'' Mikey groaned as he followed them.
''She's gotta know where here by now right? why doesn't she just come out?''
Leo sighed, ''Maybe she's not in her right mind. Or maybe she's worried she'll loose control attack us. I feel so bad for her.''
Leo, Caitlin and Mikey fell silent as they continued to look around. ''No sign of her, I hope the guys are having better luck.''
Suddenly, Caitlin sensed something behind them, and turned around. ''Guys it's her!''
They chased her until she slithered into the spook house. They followed her and tried to use the retro mutagen on her but it was hard since she lead them into a house of mirrors. ''Karai!''
She slithered out of the spook house and tried to run away from them, until Mikey blocked her path with his kursigama and she hissed at them.
''Karai we wanna help you. Don't you remember us?'' She hissed again and pounced on Mikey. ''Ah ah! get her off she's trying to eat me!''
''Karai…'' Caitlin knelt next to her, ''it's okay…please…''
Karai hissed again and Leo knelt next to her to. ''Karai it's me Leo try and focus.''
She slowly got of Mikey. ''L-Leo…''
''We wanna help you Karai.'' Suddenly, they heard something drive through the gates and Karai ran off.
''Karai no!'' Caitlin shouted. But she was already gone. Caitlin badly wanted to go after her, but Leo told they should check out where the noise was coming from.
Caitlin nodded, and they walked over and hid behind some crates. They saw it was a van, and saw Zeck climb out and look around. ''Ae you here yet Steranko what's the deal yo?''
''Da comrade look behind you.'' Zeck turned around and saw Steranko carrying an unconscious Raph and Casey. ''Phew, rhino legs very fast good workout, better than the palities'' he said as he threw them into the van. ''So other turtles are here?''
''Turtles? come out and play!'' Zeck sniffed the air and used his x-ray goggles and saw Mikey hiding. ''Gotcha. If you surrender the humans go free.''
''Pinky promise.''
''Forget it we don't trust you dudes!'' Mikey shouted. ''You has no choice in five seconds I pop human's like the blueberries.''
''Five, four three…'' Leo shared a few hand signals with Mikey to distract them, and Mikey nodded, and Leo and Caitlin went to free the others.
''Okay don't hurt them. Let's talk this over um, what do we call you guys now anyway?''
The two looked at him confused. ''You need mutant names. Uh, and it just so happens I am awesome at naming stuff. How bout Pork rind and Chilly cheese fries?''
''Uh, not so good names'' said Steranko.
''Um, how bout Sprinkles and Hot sauce?''
The two looked at him, starting to get angry. ''Uh, the Royal Weines?''
The two glared at him, and Steranko was ready to choke Mikey. ''Then how bout…Bepop and Rocksteady!''
''Is that what you do? randomly name enemies based on stuff you see around you?!'' The newly named Bebop shouted.
''Eh, it's so bad,'' said the newly named Rocksteady. ''Kind of like the Rocksteady.''
''Ugh…'' Bebpop sniffed the air again and saw Leo and Caitlin on his x-ray goggles trying to pick the lock on the van. ''Ah ah! you think you can get past my googles son! I saw you a mile away! and Steranko, looks like you got another human's head to pop.''
Caitlin winced, but Mikey knocked him out of the way, and saw Bepop had the retro mutagen. ''He's got the retro mutagen!''
Bepop grinned, ''retro mutagen huh? I wonder what it'll do to mutant turtles?''
''Don't do it Bepop…''
''Stop calling me that! I hate that name!'' he grinned at Mikey. ''Time for the next mutation turtle!''
Suddenly Rocksteady interfered saying that they could use the retro mutagen on themselves and be human again. Bepop agreed, but the two started arguing about who should use it first.
Leo and Caitlin snuck over and tried their best to get Mikey away from Bepop as the two argued about who should get the retro-mutagen.
''Guys, come on let's get out of here…''
''Hold it!'' they looked up seeing Bepop aiming the vile at them. When out of nowhere, Karai came in, knocking both mutants back.
She tried to hit Rocksteady with her snake venom, but he hit her knocking her into the van.
''Sweet! now let's destroy those turtles, and get Karai to Shredder.''
Steranko nodded, ''Agreed comrade Bebpop.''
''Will you stop calling me that?!''
Rocksteady went to knock Karai out but something fast grabbed Karai and Rocksteady instead hit the van with his hand. Leo, Caitlin and Mikey quickly got out of the way knowing who it was and went to free the others from the van.
''Ow! what in the-''
"Attacking a lady is something a gentlemen shouldn't do," they turn around and see Chris standing nearby with his arms crossed. "But then again I shouldn't call you gentlemen anymore. No I think I prefer to call you both Tweedledum and Tweedledee."
''Oooh!'' Bepop glared at him, ''who is this chump?''
"The snake girl's boyfriend and you two," he pulls out a roll of duct tape. "Are going to pay for hurting her and my friends."
He used his super speed to run towards Rocksteady and began spinning around him. Rocksteady started to get dizzy and was unable to make a move to stop Chris. When he finished Chris took off as Bepop saw his friend tied up in duct tape. Rocksteady falls over and passes out due to being dizzy.
Bepop backs away concerned by what happened, when Chris appeared nearby. "Question, your a pig right?"
''Uh…yeah…'' Bepop replied nervously, but kept on his guard.
Chris leaves, but then returns with three lions in a cage. "If I were you, I would run," he opened the cage and the lions come out and begin chasing Bepop.
''Oh this is so not cool!'' Bepop said as he ran off.
Chris heads back to Karai where he sees she is being checked on by the others. "Looks like you guys needed some help. Who were those two you guys were fighting?"
Caitlin slowly stood up, ''Mikey named them Bepop and Rocksteady.''
"No surprise there," he checks on Karai and sees she isn't hurt. "You should have told me where you went. You didn't have to run off like that."
''H-had to…'' said Karai slowly, ''becoming to dangerousssssss.''
Chris moves his hands to the sides of Karai's face and could feel her calming down. He then turns to Donnie, noticing he has the anti-mutagen. "Will it work on her?"
''I'm not sure Chris. Her condition is unique.''
''We have to try.'' Leo took one of the other bottles and sprayed Karai with it. Nothing.
''What? it's not working. Donnie?''
''I told you Leo, Karai is special she's not a normal mutant.''
''So all of this was for nothing?'' Raph asking looking at Leo.
''It doesn't matter, you can home with us Karai. We'll take care of you, I promise.''
''No, too dangerousssss. My Mind is going…''
''Then why did you want us to find you?''
''Wanted to say goodbye…to all of you…''
Caitlin was shocked, ''Karai please…don't go.''
''I'm sorry…but I have to…''
Chris however stops her when he appears in her way. "Wait, let me go with you."
''No Chris…don't want you hurt…''
Chris grabs her snake hands and gives her a smile. "You haven't hurt me before and I don't you will now. I love you, Karai and I promised I would stay by your side no matter what."
Karai looked into Chris's eyes sadly. ''Don't know what will happen…''
He leans forward and kisses her. "No matter what happens, I'll still love you."
''Dude, that was beautiful'' said Mikey about to cry.
Karai nodded, ''Okay you can come…''
Chris turns towards Caitlin noticing the concerned look she has on her face. "I know you want me to stay, you want us to stay with you guys, but I think for everyone's safety I'll take Karai somewhere safe. At least until you guys find a cure, okay?"
Caitlin nodded sadly, ''Okay…''
Chris gave his sister a hug and tries cheering her up. "We'll be fine, I promise and as soon as a cure is found we'll come back to kick the Kaaren's ass back to wherever they came from."
Caitlin smiled a little, ''Okay Chris…just be careful.''
"We will," Chris and Karai take their leave as the others look over to see Rocksteady is gone, but their damaged van has been left behind.
''…Well find a way to help you Karai,'' said Leo ''I promise.''
''Guys…Rocksteady is gone'' said April realizing he disappeared.
''Let them go, the next time I see them they won't walk away'' Raph said with a growl.
''Come on guys…'' Caitlin said rubbing her eyes, ''let's go home.'' Leo wrapped his arms around her as them and the others walked off sadly.
*…*
Meanwhile, Shredder sat in his lair with Tiger Claw at his side when suddenly the doors burst open. ''What is this?''
Bepop and Rocksteady stepped in. ''We has Karai Shredder, just like you asked.''
''Along with her little boyfriend'' said Bepop glaring at Chris.
Chris like Karai is in a cage, but was unconscious and looked to be hurt. Karai noticed Shredder and began hissing at him.
Shredder nodded and looked at Karai, ''my daughter do not fear, I will soon cure you of this terrible affliction and soon, we will have our revenge.''
*…*
Meanwhile looking on from one of the buildings nearby, a cloaked figure watches through his telescope as he sees Shredder has captured his 'daughter' and her boyfriend. "Looks like I just found the leverage I needed to get my revenge on you, Shredder."
