When we walked in I smiled. I am excited to get to see our little baby on the screen.
Callie's POV
I'm glad that Brandon and I talked over my feelings on talking to another person who was a teenage mother. When we got to the OB/GYN he and I walked in hand in hand. I got signed in before Brandon and I sat down in the waiting room. "Callie I am so ready to see the baby on the screen." Brandon said from beside me. "I know it's exciting." I said smiling as I leaned over and kissed his cheek. We sat in silence for about twenty minutes before a nurse called us back.
They did the normal weight check, blood pressure, drew some blood and checked my temperature. "Your weight is looking good." the nurse said smiling. I now weigh 112. The nurse lead me to an examining room before leaving. "One step closer babe." I said as I changed into the paper gown. I got up on the exam table and we waited for I think five minutes before Dr. Fisher walked in. "So we are seeing the little one on the screen today." she said smiling. "We are both excited to see the baby and I read somewhere that you can hear the heart beat by now." I said and she nodded. "Of course. And I have the results from the blood sample and everything looks normal and your iron level is where it needs to be for a pregnant woman." she said before setting down my file and walking over. "Lay back and we can get started." she said and I complied. She got the machine in the corner of the room started up and pulled it closer to the bed. "The gel is going to be a little cold." she warned as she pushed the gown away from my stomach. The blue gel she put on my stomach was indeed cold but when she put the wand like thing into the gel I forgot about who cold it was. I was going to be seeing my baby in just a few short seconds.
Suddenly there was a rapid thumping sound that echoed throughout the room. "Is that?" I asked looking to Dr. Fisher. "That is your babies heart beat but I think I hear two of them. We'll see when the picture comes up." she said before hitting a few buttons on the machine. I looked to Brandon and saw a huge smile. "Alright there is the amniotic sac and there is baby number one and baby number two." she pointed out. "Two? As in I'm having twins?" I asked my shock lacing in with my words. "You are having twins." she said nodding her head. She handed me some tissue to wipe away the gel before she pressed a few buttons and then pictures started coming out. "This is big news. And with this news also means that you will have to take extra care of yourself. You don't have to be on bed rest for now at least. Don't over work yourself and if you don't have to be on your feet then don't be." she listed off. "What about me getting a job? Maybe one that can give me a chair or something to sit on when I need it?" I asked and she smiled. "As long as you can sit when you need to I don't see a problem with it." she said handing me a sheet to give to the lady at the front desk as well as the ultrasound pictures. "Next month I want to see you." she said before leaving the room.
I quickly got changed and we were headed to the lady that I needed to talk to to set up another appointment. Once all the paper work was done and I set my next appointment for next month Brandon and I left. "So how are you feeling about having twins?" I asked as I watched him drive. "Scared beyond belief but I am excited too." he said smiling. "Well Stef and Lena are going to be truly surprised. Can we stop and get a couple of picture frames? I want to frame the ultrasound pictures and give one to them." I said and he nodded before driving to Walmart.
When we got home it was close to dinner time and I was hungry like always. "So how did the appointment go?" Lena asked when Brandon and I walked into the kitchen. "It was a big surprise to say the least." Brandon said and I laughed before pulling the now framed ultrasound out of the bag. "This is for you and Stef." I said handing her the picture. She looked at it lovingly before she looked up confused. "Is this showing two babies?" she asked and I nodded. "We're having twins." I said and she let a few tears fall. "That is amazing. Twice the stuff and twice as messy but an amazing gift none the less." she said before she pulled me into a hug.
After she got over the shock she finished preparing dinner and talking with me while Brandon went outside to make a phone call. Not long after Stef, Jude, Jesus, Brandon, and Mariana joined us in the kitchen to sit down and eat. Before anyone could start eating Brandon and I stood up. "So we have some news. Today at the doctor they did an ultrasound and we found out that we aren't just having one baby we are having twins." I said and if I could have gotten a picture of everyone's face I would have the picture framed and hanging in the babies' room. Shock, happiness, excitement, all of the emotions were shown in each person's face and I was happy. "That is awesome!" Mariana said jumping up and hugging me. Everyone hugged Brandon and I.
Once everyone was seated again Stef started talking. "Well we have just a few things which means when we get the money and the chance we will have to go shopping." she said and I nodded. "I was thinking that maybe Mariana could help me decorate the room. And if one or both of them are a boy Jude and Jesus too." I said and Mariana let out a very girly squeak. "I would be honored to." she said once she calmed down a little. Stef and Lena laughed lightly at her excitement. "That is very nice of you to include the entire family in the babies' life." Lena said smiling. "Well of course. I figured since we have such a unique family these two better be ready for anything." I said causing everyone to laugh and nod in agreement. "That is so very very true." Jesus said as he stuffed a fork full of food in is mouth.
Dinner went quickly and soon I was very tired and told the family good night before heading to bed with Brandon right behind me. "How are you feeling babe?" Brandon asked once we laid down in bed. "I'm fine just tired." I said letting out a yawn. "Well I have to tell you that I got a job today. While you were talking with Lena and I went to make the phone call. Lena has a friend that owns a pizza place and she needed a new driver so I got the job I start next week." he said and I smiled. "You have a job now I need to find one." I said and he smiled a little. "She has a cashier position open. It's part time and you would only have to be at the cash register so you could have a stool or something to sit on while your there." he said and I nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. Could you give me her number so I can call her tomorrow?" I asked and he nodded before adding, "Lena already suggested you for that job. The owner, Lisa, she said that if you wanted the job it was yours. She also told me that she can work with you being pregnant and she can work the schedule after the babies are born to where we don't always work on the same nights." he said I let out another yawn as I nodded that I heard what he said. "Well let's get some sleep and I will call her in the morning." I said and he nodded before pulling me to him and I rested my head on his chest. The sound of his heart beating pulling me into a peaceful nights sleep.
A/N: There is only going to be five chapters left of this story and then I am going to take a break and then do a squeal where the babies will be born and follow that so I can see the finish line with this one.
