Knowing they would have to wake up early the next day, the Lynch siblings (minus Rydel, who was still out on her date with Calum) and Laura headed to bed a couple hours after dinner. Ratliff would be joining them in the morning so that they could all ride to the set together.
However, the last thing on a certain blonde teen's mind was sleep.
Laura softly moaned in pleasure as Ross's lips trailed down her neck, nipping and sucking in the spots she found the most erotic. Her slim fingers tangled in his hair, tugging his head until she could capture his mouth with hers. His tongue instantly invaded her moist, wet cavern as the two battled for dominance.
Ross grabbed one of her wrists, gently but forcefully removing the appendage from his person. Proceeding to trap it against his mattress, Laura released a displeased noise when he did the same with her other arm.
"Ross…"
A devilish smirk appeared on his handsome features. God, but he would never get tired of hearing his name on her lips, especially when she used her sexy, breathless tone. It always sent shivers up his spine; it was addictive.
He murmured soothingly, "Be patient," before dipping his head down to her chest. His nose bumped against the lace-covered cleavage, his hot breath fanning against her skin. Goosebumps rose, and Ross licked his lips in anticipation. He would definitely enjoy tonight's session…
Using his teeth, he tugged her bra upward until her breasts lightly bounced free. Laura squirmed, her soft pants the only sound in the bedroom as her arousal rose sharply.
"Ross," she whimpered, squirming again. She rose her hips, wanting to rub against him for some sort of relief. It was like she was a cat in heat. What she wouldn't give to be stroked just right…
Ross immediately shifted, denying the petite brunette the contact she craved. Lifting his head, he gave her a reproachful look. "I said to be patient, Laura. If you don't do what you're told, I'll end tonight right now. Do you want that?"
Laura quickly shook her head, eyes wide in panic at the thought. She knew enough to know the blonde teen wasn't lying either; he'd always kept his word.
"No. Please, Ross. I'll be good, I swear."
Her words pleased him. As a reward, he kissed her deeply for several minutes, then broke away to finish what he started.
Gaze staring at her naked chest, his eyes got impossibly darker. Rearranging their positions, one hand now held both of her wrists pinned to the mattress, while his legs made sure she couldn't move away. This was the first time he'd be doing this particular activity, and he wanted to savor every moment.
Without hesitation, Ross sucked a nipple into his mouth, teeth lightly nibbling on the pebbled flesh before soothing the light sting with his tongue. The moment Laura jerked at the sudden contact, he used his free hand to cover her mouth before she released a loud gasp of pleasure. It wouldn't be good if someone decided to investigate any strange noises coming from his room, after all.
He wasn't anywhere near done with the beautiful brunette under him. Not even close.
When Ross switched to give the same treatment to her other breast, Laura wanted to thrash in pleasure, but the blonde had her effectively pinned. Instead, she sensuously licked the palm covering her mouth as a sign that she would be quiet.
Darkened chocolate eyes connected with hers as he removed his hand. Instead, he snaked it down her body until it rested on the outside of her thigh, fingers teasing the lacy panties that he came across.
Lips and tongue continued to spark and ignite a fire from her sensitive nipples to her heated, dripping core. God, the petite brunette had always known the blonde would be naturally talented when it came to pleasing her. This was just further proof. Her body was on fire for him.
Ross smugly smirked as he watched Laura pant and struggle underneath him. He especially loved how flushed her cheeks were, and her eyes… God, he absolutely adored how lost in lust she was over him and what he was doing to her. The real turn-on, however, was how accepting she was to his touch. There was nothing more exciting than watching your girl lose her mind like this.
She deserves another reward, he thought.
With that, he let go of the nipple in his mouth long enough to command, "Spread your legs, Laura," before leaning back down to lick it once, twice, three times. He loved her taste; he didn't know why he hadn't done this sooner, but he was making up for lost time now.
Immediately, she obeyed. A soft whimper left her throat, knowing what was coming next – and anticipating it. She ached in the worst ways. No one – especially her – should have to go through this torture for so long. She would lose her mind (if she hadn't already).
Ross easily slid between her thighs, rubbing his leanly muscled body against hers. He smirked as he watched her lick her lips, doe eyes pleading with him to hurry. "Don't move your hands," he commanded next, squeezing her wrists for added emphasis. Laura nodded. "Good girl. Now, wrap your legs around my waist – tightly. I want you to feel all of me, Laura." The last came out as a sexy purr, and the petite brunette under him shivered at the sound as she once again obeyed him.
Adjusting his boxer-covered cock against her lace panty-covered core to make sure he was in perfect alignment with her clit, he experimentally rolled his hips forward. His teeth dug into his bottom lip to keep from groaning out loud at the sheer lightning that shot up his spine. Laura wasn't any better, her head thrown back and silky hair fanned over his pillow.
"Fuck, this is going to be good," he muttered, mostly to himself. "This is going to be really good."
Planting his hands on either side of her torso, Ross set a rough, hard rhythm that had Laura jolting under him, breasts bouncing almost painfully. The only things keeping her on the mattress were her legs wrapped around his waist and her hands gripping the headboard. If she hadn't been, she was sure she would've been sliding off of the bed or at least across the sheets.
"Ross," she panted, sweat beginning to shine on her skin, "Ross, please… slow down. I-I can't…"
His lips crashed down on hers, stopping any protests. His hands slipped down until they gripped her hips, grinding himself against her, and body coming down until her breasts were smashed against his hard chest.
His next few thrusts were powerful and rough enough to shake the entire bed, the headboard lightly smacking the wall. Laura tried to turn her head away, to break the breath-stealing kiss, but Ross followed the movement, his tongue surging deeply within her moist cavern.
Finally, he broke the kiss, panting. The petite brunette gasped, trying to bring oxygen back into her starved lungs, but he ignored her. Instead, he concentrated on the sight of his boxer-covered cock ruthlessly rubbing her clit through her panties. He smirked darkly.
Reaching down and under one thigh, his fingers slid into said lacy undergarments, and his smirk grew. "You're fucking dripping for me, baby." To show his delight over the discovery, he gave three, sharp thrusts against her. His eyes fluttered closed for a second, electricity racing down his spine and into his cock. God, he was close. It wouldn't be long now.
Laura gasped, jerking, and eyes widening in panic. "W-Wait," she stuttered, "Ross, wait, please…" Her hands started to come up, ready to physically slow him down – this was too fast for her to keep up and she just wanted a moment to catch her breath – but that was the exact instant he struck.
Three fingers entered her, and the petite brunette could only freeze as her body exploded with an orgasm so powerful she swore she saw white. Vaguely, she was aware of Ross stiffening above her, his own expression twisting in such absolute pleasure it looked painful, but it was only a distant part of her that noticed; a totally detached part of her psyche.
The next time Laura was aware of her surroundings, she was still panting and trying to recover from the explosive orgasm Ross had given her. Said blonde teen had rolled off of her and to the side, one arm draped around her trim waist to hold her close. She also noticed that, even though he was still wearing his soiled boxers, he was taking great pains to keep the mess from touching her. Laura found the action oddly sweet.
Despite the fact that his previous actions were anything but.
"What was that about?" she asked, breathing now under control. "I mean, I know that you sometimes like it rough and all, but, Ross, that was…" A little frightening. A little exciting. A whole lot of incredible. But where had it come from?
Ross's gaze turned soft as he looked at her, eye-to-eye. The hand resting on her hip was rubbing soothing circles into her cooling flesh, like he was comforting her about what happened.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled, "Was I too rough? I didn't hurt you, did I?" The last thing he ever wanted to do was physically hurt the petite brunette. But he wasn't sure what happened. He didn't even know what to call what they did. It was as if all of his primal instincts roared to life and something inside him was demanding he make her his.
But that wasn't right. Laura was dating Riker – his oldest brother – and Ross had always been okay with that. Always.
So, that left the question: What happened?
Laura's soft, reassuring voice caught his attention as she answered, "No, you didn't hurt me. In fact," she added, suddenly shifting until she straddled his waist with her hands smoothing down his chest, "I really liked what you did, Ross…" The last came out as a seductive purr, and mentioned blonde shivered in pleasure. What he wouldn't give to hear her talk like that to him all day and night…
Buzz, buzz!
The secret couple froze. Laura sucked in a sharp breath, while Ross slowly sat up, his hands clamping on her waist to keep her in place.
Buzz, buzz!
"Who could that be?" the petite brunette whispered, eyes wide in panic.
Ross glanced at the bedside table, where the noise was coming from. He frowned. "I don't know, but it's coming from your phone, Laura. Get dressed."
She scrambled around the bedroom to do just that, and her blonde counterpart did the same, changing his boxers when he knew Laura wouldn't be looking in his direction and throwing on a pair of sweats. He would've added a T-shirt, but it was still Los Angeles and summer time.
Dressed once more in her sleepwear, the petite brunette nibbled on her bottom lip as she grabbed her iPhone to check her messages. Her doe eyes widened, stunned disbelief flashing across her expression, before she abruptly turned and bolted from the room.
"Laura?" Ross quietly called out, incredulous – and worried.
What had the message said?
SP*SP*SP
I'm sorry it's so late, Laura, but… I need to talk to you…
Laura nearly tripped down the hallway as her feet quickly made their way to the front door. Her heart was pounding in dread. Her lungs were seizing from her sheer disbelief of the situation she suddenly found herself in.
Wildly, she thought, This can't be happening – They were fine just earlier today!
But she could still see the second text message as if she was reading it right in front of her.
We broke up… I don't know what else to do. I'm outside of the house. Can you come down?
Jumping down the last few steps on the staircase, Laura practically threw herself against the door, struggling to grab the doorknob with her shaky hands. She didn't even notice when her phone dropped, a dull thump! against the hard wood.
Instead, she finally managed to jerk the door open. Her eyes instantly connected with heartbroken chocolate orbs, their figure hunched and desolate.
"Ratliff, what happened?" she breathed out, absolutely devastated for her friend. Moving aside, she gestured for the drummer to enter the residence. "Come inside. We'll talk in the basement. Tell me everything."
Without a word, he walked inside, obviously on autopilot. And, still without a word or making a single sound, Ratliff followed Laura into the Lynch's basement.
Unseen by the two, Ross watched everything from the top of the staircase. His eyes reflected his concern for the drummer, wondering what happened to get him into this almost-catatonic state.

Once seated on the couch facing the make-shift stage, Laura gently asked, "Okay, what happened, Ratliff?" It broke her heart to watch the taller brunette curl up in his seat, head resting in his hands, as if he was hiding away from the world. She couldn't blame him – she didn't know what she'd do without Riker and/or Ross in her life.
Ratliff released a heavy sigh. Without looking at Laura, he bluntly stated, "Kelly and I broke up."
Talk about ripping the Band-Aid off, was all she could think. Then, she tentatively asked, "Why?"
He sighed again, shifting his position until his hands lay limply at his sides and he was fully reclined against the cushion and head titled back to stare at the ceiling. The two close friends fell into a meditative silence before he broke it after a few minutes.
"It wasn't like it just happened – the break up, I mean. It was gradual; us just drifting apart. We tried – We tried our best to make things work, Laura, but… I don't know. R5 went on tour and signed with a great record label… Kelly has her job – I'd never ask her to choose between me and her career, like I know she wouldn't do the same to me."
He closed his eyes, expression twisting with pain. Laura's heart clenched. She wanted more than anything to reach over and hug him, but was afraid he'd stop talking. Right now, he just needed a friend to listen as he exorcised his demons. Get his heartbreak out and in the open.
"We just started fighting more," he continued, "We weren't seeing each other as much as we used to. It was fine at first – but what sort of relationship lasts when that's the only type of contact? I wanted to see her; she wanted to see me… We just couldn't make it work. Neither of us was really happy anymore."
Laura gently encouraged, "What else happened?"
Ratliff swallowed thickly. "Our careers were taking us down two different paths. It wasn't hard to see, but we didn't want things to end – not if we could help it. I mean, we love each other; we were each other's first love. How can you not fight for that?"
She didn't respond, because how could she? Riker was – and still is – her first love. He always would be; he would always own a piece of her heart for the rest of her life. And while she also loved Ross, the younger blonde would never be able to own that part of her heart that belonged solely to Riker.
"I'm sorry, Ratliff…" Her vision was starting to get blurry with tears, her heart breaking for him.
Something in her tone must have alerted him, because the taller brunette turned to look at the doe-eyed young woman next to him. He smiled tenderly as his hand came up, gently brushing away the tears that escaped down her cheeks.
"Hey, why are you crying, Laura?" he chuckled, hoping to lighten the mood. Then again, that was just the type of person the drummer was. Even with his heart shattered, he'd try to comfort someone else (in this case, Laura). It only made more tears leak from Laura's eyes.
"It's because I know you won't," she sniffled. "When was the last time someone cried for you?"
Ratliff stroked her hair comfortingly. "Probably the last time you cried for me," he answered. The corner of his mouth twitched, suddenly. "Has anyone ever told you that you're a pretty crier? Not a lot of people can pull off something like that, you know."
Laura huffed, lightly pushing his hand away from her. "Shut up. My face probably looks awful, all puffy and red and stuff." She sniffled as if to emphasize her words.
Chuckling over how cute she looked at that moment, he easily dragged her into his arms. Moving their positions until they were laying side-by-side on the couch, with his arms wrapped around the petite brunette, R5's drummer softly said, "I think we both deserve some sleep now. Sorry about waking you up again."
Her eyes wouldn't meet his as she pretended to get more comfortable. "It's no problem. You're my friend. I would do anything for you."
"As long as I get to return the favor."
She softly laughed. "Deal." With that, she closed her eyes and tried to relax enough to fall asleep.
However, she knew Ratliff would be up for a while longer as he thought about Kelly and their failed relationship.

Rydel was practically skipping across Cloud 9, she was so happy. Her first date with Calum had been perfect – at least in her opinion. He'd chosen a classic, dinner and a movie. The diner he took her to was one of her favorites, and the easy-going atmosphere made for even easier conversation. And the movie was great – a romantic comedy that was new yet old enough that the theater wasn't crowded. Afterwards, they had talked about their favorite scenes on the car ride back to her house.
Mentally sighing with happiness, the bubbly blonde turned to her date, grinning cutely. "I had a lot of fun tonight, Calum," she said.
"Yeah, me too," he grinned back. They stopped at the front door, and he shoved his hands into his pockets nervously. "I feel like I shouldn't admit this," he began softly, but continued, "but I kind of don't want this night to end. You're a lot of fun to be around, Rydel."
Heat scorched her cheeks, but giddiness rose sharply within. She was amazed she didn't start jumping up and down.
"Trust me, I feel the same way," she replied as calmly as she could. "We should do this again sometime." Like tomorrow. However, she didn't feel bold enough to say that. She already made it clear that she wanted to see him again. Now it was his turn.
Calum didn't disappoint her. With a wide smile, he simply said, "Definitely." He took a step back, indicating that he was going to take his leave. "I better get going. You have an early day tomorrow. I'll call you," he faltered, "or you can call me – that's totally cool, too."
Before he could start rambling in that cute way of his, Rydel lightly giggled. "Don't worry – I get what you're trying to say." Meaningfully, she added, chocolate connected with sapphire, "I'll be waiting for your call."
Again, he grinned, albeit sheepishly. "Awesome – that's awesome. Have a good night, Rydel."
"Good night, Calum. And thanks for walking me to the door."
"Of course. It wasn't a problem." Suddenly, he bit his lower lip as if debating something. Then, before Rydel could react, the tall redhead leaned forward to press a chaste kiss on her cheek. With another quick, "Good night," he turned and walked away without a single glance back.
If he had, he would have been pleased to see the stunned expression on the keyboardist's face before she broke out into a wide, giddy grin. And he would have laughed at the way she jumped up and down, silently cheering for herself.
Tonight had definitely been perfect – for both of them.

When his alarm went off, Riker reluctantly rolled over in bed to stop the loud noise. It took him a few moments to remember why, exactly, he had to wake up so early but, once he did, he groaned quietly before sitting up. Rubbing a hand down his face, his other searched for his glasses on the bedside table.
It wasn't long before he stumbled his way to the bathroom. After taking care of his morning rituals, the blonde bassist felt decently more human, so went to make sure his younger siblings and Laura were getting ready too.
Knock, knock!
Riker waited, fist poised to knock again on Laura's door. When he didn't hear any movement, he knocked again, this time a bit louder.
"Laura?" he called, not wanting to just barge into her bedroom.
"I think she's still downstairs with Ratliff," Ross's voice said, catching Riker's attention.
Turning to face his younger brother, Riker frowned in confusion. "Still?" he questioned. "I thought Ratliff went home last night?"
Ross rubbed the back of his neck, looking more than a little uncomfortable. "I woke up in the middle of the night and saw Laura rushing downstairs," he lied, knowing it was needed but hating it for the same reason. "I figured something was wrong, so I followed her. When she opened the front door, I saw Ratliff. He looked…" Devastated. Broken. Absolutely shattered. Ross swallowed thickly. "I think something happened between him and Kelly."
The oldest Lynch sibling frowned even deeper, worried now about his friend. Ratliff may not have been blood-related, but that didn't mean he wasn't family. Stormie had practically adopted the drummer the moment he'd been brought into the Lynch household.
Sighing, Riker brushed his fingers through his bangs. "I'll go check on them," he decided. "Finish getting ready, and could you check to make sure Rydel and Rocky are up?" He didn't need to worry about Ryland. Although the youngest, he was always on top of things. It sometimes made Riker wonder how he did it.
"Sure, no problem," Ross replied.
"Thanks, bro." With that, the blonde bassist turned and headed downstairs. As soon as he got to the bottom, he noticed Laura's iPhone on the ground. He put it in the pocket of his sweats before continuing his search for his girlfriend and friend.
Checking the living room, he found it empty, so immediately changed course to head to the basement.
Riker walked down the stairs, not wanting to make too much noise. Although they all had to wake up to finish the Loud video, he also knew Ratliff had had a rough night.
Finding the two was easy; there weren't a lot of places to hide to begin with. Laura and Ratliff were sleeping soundly on one of the couches, with the drummer's arms wrapped around her petite frame. Riker was honest enough to admit that, if it were any other guy, he would've been thrown into a jealous fit over the compromising position. But this was Ratliff and this was Laura. They didn't see the other in a romantic way.
Leaning against the back of the couch, Riker poked Ratliff in the shoulder hard enough to slightly move his entire body. When the drummer didn't stir, the blonde poked him again, a bit harder this time.
Ratliff's eyes flew open, his lean body jerking at the sudden assault. When he started to tip off the couch, the only thing that stopped him was the hand that gripped his shoulder. Looking up, he noticed a sheepish Riker.
"Sorry, my bad," the blonde said, "I didn't think you'd literally fall off the couch. I was just trying to wake you up."
"Nah, it's okay. You just startled me, that's all." He rubbed a hand down his face, trying to wipe the sleep from his eyes. "What am I even doing here…?"
Riker shifted uncomfortably. Clearing his throat, he answered, "Ross just told me that he heard Laura get up during the middle of the night, and that you showed up at our house. He thinks that maybe… something happened between you and Kelly."
The tall brunette lowered his hand, his eyes traveling down until he saw Laura still sleeping beside him. For a second, his jaw clenched and his eyes flashed with pain, before his facial expression smoothed once more. Instead, he released a deep sigh.
"I guess last night wasn't a nightmare, after all."
"You wanna talk about it?" Riker offered, his eyes sympathetic.
Ratliff shook his head. Giving his blonde friend a grateful smile, he replied, "I think I'm good for now. But thanks, Riker."
"No problem, bro. Why don't you get ready? I'll take care of Laura."
Ratliff's eyes softened as he once more looked at the mentioned brunette. Smiling tenderly, he stroked her hair for a moment before standing and stretching. Passing Riker as he made his way up to the main floor of the Lynch residence, he patted the blonde on the shoulder to show his gratitude, then disappeared.
Once R5's drummer was out of view, Riker turned his attention onto his sleeping girlfriend. She must have been exhausted if she hadn't woken up from their conversation.
Walking around the couch, he sat on the edge. "Laura," he called out. Like Ratliff, when she didn't stir, he poked her in the shoulder. However, unlike Ratliff, she made a cute, grumbling noise and wrinkled her nose in displeasure at being woken.
"Lau~ra," he sing-songed, enjoying her reactions. He chuckled when she growled, the sound more adorable than threatening. "Come on, babe. It's time to wake up. It's our last day of filming the Loud music video."
In response, Laura muttered something dark but unintelligible. Riker was positive he was glad he couldn't understand her.
Instead, he nodded like he understood with a straight face. Then, he easily lifted the petite brunette into his arms and proceeded to carry her, bridal-style, up the stairs and back to her bedroom. Thankfully, she didn't struggle – which would have made his job that much harder – and instead snuggled closer to his warmth, her arms automatically wrapping around his neck for balance.
And when she made a cute, happy grumbling noise, Riker chuckled under his breath.

To support Rydel and the others, Calum showed up at the set, along with Raini. The latter wanted to see how things were progressing, and was planning to hang out with Laura and Rydel afterwards, hoping that Maia would show up at the Lynch residence. The Australian actress had already made it clear that seeing Rocky so soon was too painful, so none of the other girls wanted to pressure her.
However, Calum and Raini were not expecting the tension they could feel practically shooting like lasers from Ratliff's form.
The normally laid back, quirky drummer was moodily sitting in a chair as he stared down at his phone, brows furrowed. Every so often he would release a quiet but heavy sigh, and his shoulders appeared to droop even lower every time.
Calum leaned down to Raini's height, whispering, "I wonder what happened? He looks like someone kidnapped his dog…"
Raini's face twisted in concern. "I have no idea," she said, equally quiet. "But whatever it was… it was bad. Really bad."
Ratliff seemed to finally notice their presence. His head came up, eyes locking onto them. The smile that appeared on his face was somewhat painful and almost half-hearted, but his expression was genuinely happy to see them.
"Hey, you two," he greeted. He stood to hug the shorter Latina and then exchanged a fist bump with Calum. "Uh, everyone is still getting ready." A hand rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "So, I guess that makes me the welcoming committee?" At the end, he released a chuckle that added a slight sparkle back into his chocolate orbs.
Choosing not to pry into his personal business – at least, for now – Raini raised an eyebrow. "Even Laura?"
"The girl who was supposed to play Ross's 'love interest' had to leave for an emergency the other day, so Deacon asked if Laura would take her place."
The redhead happily added, "You should have seen some of the faces Riker made during those scenes – They were hilarious!"
Raini chuckled, shaking her head. "I can imagine, if they were anything like the ones he made while we were filming Austin & Ally."
The two young men hummed thoughtfully. Then, in unison, they said, "It was probably worse."
Ratliff continued, more relaxed and back to his usual self, "Ah, you two will most likely hear this from the others, but I want to tell you, myself…" Squaring his shoulders, he took one bracing breath before bluntly stating, "Kelly and I broke up last night."
"What?" the two exclaimed, shocked.
"Yeah… We met up, and we started talking about where our lives were taking us... and concluded that it was in two different directions…"
SP*SP*SP
His chest was burning.
Or, more accurately, his heart.
Ross rubbed an absent hand over the area, his gaze focused on the possible cause. He wouldn't be able to tear his eyes away even if he'd wanted to. It was almost like witnessing a train wreck; he was mesmerized with a type of sick, twisted fascination.
Or maybe he was a masochist.
But… that didn't make sense.
A frown touched his facial features, brows furrowed, but gaze unwavering. His hand still rubbed absently at his chest, right above the organ that gave him life.
They were taking a break from filming the Loud music video, and Laura had attached herself to Riker. Her beautiful face was glowing as she talked and laughed with the oldest Lynch sibling, and her hands softly fluttered with her words, like butterfly wings.
Riker was just as animated in their conversation, and Ross could see the way his brother's eyes sparkled from behind his glasses even from the distance separating them. The way the bassist casually, yet intimately touched the petite brunette spoke volumes about their relationship and how long they've been together.
It never bothered Ross before. The way they spoke to each other. They way they touched. The way they smiled at the other, like they were the only ones in their respective universe.
The way they loved the other so openly and freely.
It never bothered Ross before.
But now it did.

"And cut! That's a wrap," the director called out. Straightening from his position hovering over a camera and its operator, he grinned. "Great job, everyone! This video is going to come out amazing."
"I second that," Deacon added, an equally large smile on his face. His eyes zeroed-in on the members of R5 and Laura as he continued, "Aside from the technical stuff, I'll also be handling most of the editing process. Trust me, this video will be a masterpiece."
Rocky exchanged fist-bumps with the older male. "We're not worried."
"Yeah, man. We're sure it'll come out awesome," Riker added, grinning. Throwing an arm around Laura's shoulders, he pulled her close to his side. "Do we get to see the finished product before it's released?"
Deacon nodded. "I'll send a copy to Ryland. It'll take a couple of weeks, though."
"No problem," Ratliff said this time. "We're just excited about the prospect of seeing R5's first music video."
"Cool. I'll catch you guys later, then. I have some other projects that need attention." With that and a final wave, Deacon left with the director, both speaking too much technical jargon to easily decipher.
R5 and Laura also took it as their cue to head to their respective dressing rooms to change back into their regular clothes and head out of the set. Raini and Calum took seats in the lounge area to await their return, both conversing about how excited they were about the video and its upcoming release.
Less than twenty minutes later, the guys returned. Rejoining Calum and Raini, they started making small talk as they waited for Laura and Rydel to arrive. It wasn't long before the two came out, dressed once more in their street clothes and making last minute adjustments to their hair.
"So, what's the plan now?" Rydel inquired, standing next to Calum. With as much subtlety as a battering ram, she linked hands with him, fingers intertwined. No one commented, but all fought smirks or smiles from appearing on their faces. Calum, on the other hand, grinned goofily.
Rocky answered, "I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a load of errands to run. I'll probably be back at the house for dinner." He shot a quick, dark glare at Ryland. "Maybe."
In response, Ryland smiled innocently. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Uh huh. Sure, you don't." Sarcasm was practically dripping off of his words. "Anyway, I better get started. Later." Shoving his hands into his pockets, Rocky turned and walked in the direction of the parking lot. As the others called out their farewells, he waved a hand in acknowledgement before disappearing around the corner.
Once he was out of hearing range, Raini said, "Now that he's gone, what's the real plan?"
Ryland happily pointed out, "Considering we car-pooled, Rocky just took the only means of transportation we had."
"Then I guess it's a good thing Raini and I drove ourselves here," Calum replied, dryly. "But between the two of us, we should make it back to the house without any problems."
The others agreed, nodding and murmuring. Laura then said, "On the way back, I'll text Maia to see if she'll come over. I think she will, as long as Rocky isn't there." It made her sad to say the last out loud, especially when Ratliff was still mourning his failed relationship. But it made her all the more determined to help Maia and Rocky.
"Sounds good," Riker said. "Meanwhile, the guys and I will make ourselves scarce. I'm sure we can find something to do for a couple hours."
"Can play some video games at my place," Calum offered, shrugging.
Raini nodded. "Okay. Sounds like we have a plan. Let's get it done." With that, they started walking to the parking lot; the girls quietly discussing their game plan for Maia, and the boys discussing the pros and cons of playing one game versus another.
But at the back of their minds, they were all determined to save Maia and Rocky's relationship. They just had to.
SP*SP*SP
Thankfully, Maia had shown up, although her expression was anything but encouraging. Laura could immediately tell that her Australian friend had been crying again. Her normally sparkling chocolate eyes were red and slightly puffy, and her complexion was pale. Her hair was even limp, like a flower that was blocked from absorbing sunlight. If Laura hadn't known better, she would have assumed Maia was sick with the flu.
Exchanging worried glances with Raini and Rydel, Laura led Maia to the living room where everything was set up. The basement had seemed like a bad idea, so the girls had set up the living area like a stage. They even decorated the couch with colorful pillows and some of Rydel's stuffed animals.
"Here, Maia, have a seat." Laura sat next to her, and Raini claimed the spot on Maia's free side. All three now had a front row view of Rydel, who stood with a microphone in one hand while the other held the remote for the stereo.
Rydel gave her friend an encouraging smile. "Thanks so much for coming, Maia," she said. "I really hope this song cheers you up. You always look your best when you're having fun."
A small smile appeared on Maia's lips, love for her friends blooming within her chest. Despite the problems she was having with Rocky, she knew she could always count on her friends to help. They were her greatest champions, like she was for either of them.
Raini gently squeezed Maia's hand to show her own support. When the gesture was returned, she grinned, then turned her attention onto the blonde performer. "All right, let's get this party started!" she cheered.
"Totally stole my line," Rydel said, pouting. "But I completely agree with you, so I'll let it slide." With a playful wink directed at Maia and Laura, she pushed the button on the remote that would start the prerecorded music for the song her brothers had written for her birthday present.
As the music started, Maia couldn't help but think that it was perfect for Rydel and her energetic personality.
Shut Up N' Dance:
"It's nine on the dot and we just talk and we talk,
And I just want it to stop,
Cause aren't we here for the music.
And if you dare,
Just get up out of your chair,
Cause this ain't goin' nowhere,
We've gotta move it or you lose it"
Rydel eagerly gestured for her friends to stand up and dance, smiling widely as they did almost instantly. She was especially glad to see Maia smiling a little bigger as she let the song's rhythm move through her body.
"All I wanna know (know)
Is when we're letting go
So we can get this record to break (break)
Why we wasting time (time)
We never can rewind (wind).
All I'm really trying to say is
Shut up and dance show me whatcha got,
Shut up and dance are you in or not?
You're moving your mouth, baby, don't speak,
Well, shut up and dance if you're into me.
Cause I can't wait no more
To get on the floor,
Don't stop now's our chance!"
Maia released a laugh as she let the beat consume her, her hands waving above her head and her hips shaking in time with the music and lyrics. Her thoughts and worries about Rocky and his situation with Hannah and the baby fled, no longer a concern. She didn't want to think about it anymore. It just caused her heart to hurt.
Right now, right this second, she just wanted to have some carefree fun with her closest friends. It was a great way to get rid of stress and to work out all of her frustrations.
Closing her eyes, smile playing across her face, she let the music take away her concerns and doubts. There was plenty of time later to contemplate her next move.
"Shut up and dance, dance, dance
We're here for the night
And we can do what we like
So don't you put up a fight
Cuz I'll be drivin you crazy
What would you do
When I get up next to you
You like the way that I move,
I'm not your girl but I could be
All I wanna know (know)
Is when we're letting go
So we can get this record to break (break)
Why we wasting time (time)
We never can rewind (wind).
All I'm really trying to say is"
Laura, Raini, and Rydel all exchanged looks as they watched Maia get consumed and smile more readily and freely. They couldn't help the grins that crossed their faces, relieved that they were helping their friend, even if it turned out to only be a small thing. They could easily tell she'd been stressed to the point of it being unhealthy.
They just hoped convincing her to talk to Rocky would be just as easy. The poor guy was a lost puppy without Maia there to support him. But it was a two-way street – Maia needed him just as much.
"Shut up and dance show me whatcha got,
Shut up and dance are you in or not?
You're moving your mouth, baby, don't speak,
Well, shut up and dance if you're into me.
Cause I can't wait no more
To get on the floor,
Don't stop now's our chance!
Shut up and dance, dance, dance
Shut up and dance, dance, dance
Shut up and dance..."
As she danced and laughed with her friends, Laura's thoughts couldn't help but wander to another brunette that was having a hard time. Who had, in fact, just had his heart broken into a million pieces.
Ratliff was like the brother she'd never had. Her heart simply broke for him and what he was going through. She couldn't imagine the pain he must've been suffering through, especially since he and Kelly had been together since high school.
In a dark corner of Laura's mind, she wondered what she would do if she and Riker broke up…
"'Til we drop cause I'm sick of the space in between,
You and me, light it up, till we're making a scene,
Quit the talk
Let it rock,
If you know what I mean,
Shut up and dance show me whatcha got,
Shut up and dance are you in or not?
You're moving your mouth, baby, don't speak,
Well, shut up and dance if you're into me
Cause I can't wait no more
To get on the floor,
Don't stop now's our chance!"
Shuddering at the more suggestion, Laura refocused all of her attention onto Maia, who needed her right now. She could think about her personal issues later, especially since Riker and Ross were tied together when it came to her. It was… complicated, she admitted, but she was working through it. Sort of.
But Maia needed her. Laura had to focus on that before anything else. Maia – and Rocky – needed to get their problems worked out, if they wanted to save their relationship.
Because, honestly, Laura didn't want Hannah Pierce to get in their way of happiness, baby or no baby. Maia and Rocky were perfect for each other. They just needed a push in the right direction to get back on-course.
"Shut up and dance [x3] yeah,
Shut up and dance [x3] yeah,
Put up your hands [x3] yeah,
Shut up and dance [x3] yeah,
Shut up and dance!"
As the last note rang out, the four friends collapsed onto the couch, breathless with laughter and dancing.
"That's an amazing song, Rydel," Maia said, grinning, eyes sparkling.
Raini nodded. "Yeah, it's perfect for you."
Laura nudged Rydel with an elbow. "You definitely have to perform that at the next R5 concert," she said. "Heck, you need a whole concert just to showcase how awesome you are!"
Rydel grinned, pleased with all of the praise she was receiving. "Thanks, you guys."
Teasingly, Maia added, "Or maybe you should just have a private concert for Calum. I'm sure he'd love that."
When the blonde keyboardist's cheeks flushed darkly, the other three burst into giggles.

Rocky silently cursed as he scribbled and erased what he'd just written, hoping he didn't – once again – tear a hole into the paper. Currently, he was in the middle of running errands, but he'd stopped in one of parking lots to jot down a song idea that had been playing in his head for a while.
Although all songs having to deal with R5 were important, this one was… for Maia, his mind decided. Just for Maia.
And he was going to make sure it was absolutely perfect for her.
Humming the chords he could see practically dancing within his head, he jotted down another note. Lyrically, he was a bit stuck. Normally, he'd ask his brothers (and sometimes Laura) for their input, but this song was too personal, too important. He wanted everything to be done by him, and him alone.
Closing his eyes, Rocky tipped his head back to concentrate. His fingers unconsciously moved and twitched as if he were playing his guitar.
Suddenly, the memory of his first meeting with Maia hit him like a lightning bolt of sensation.
Maia turned at the sound of their approach, a bright smile on her pretty features and eyes sparkling. "Hello," she greeted in her cute, Australian accent, "I'm Maia Mitchell."
Rocky's jaw dropped comically. His chocolate eyes wide, he stared at the young woman with a star struck expression.
"She had me at hello," Rocky mumbled, a small smile appearing on his lips.
Abruptly, he knew exactly how he wanted the song to go now. And it was definitely perfect for Maia.

"I don't want to ruin the moment," Laura cautiously began, catching the other girls' attention. Her expression serious and directly on Maia, she continued, "But, what are you going to do about Rocky?"
Maia bit her bottom lip, conflict shining in her chocolate orbs. But she straightened her shoulders, took a deep breath, and decided.
"I want to talk to him. When I ran away the other day… it was stupid, and I hated myself for it." Eyes determined, she added, "I'm not running anymore. After today, it made me realize a lot of things about myself. I'm not a coward. I'm stronger than this – and I shouldn't have forgotten that. It was a moment of weakness that I will forever regret, especially since it hurt someone I deeply care about. He needed me, and I let him down. Well, that ends here. It ends now."
"Amen to that, sister," Raini crowed, throwing a fist in the air, thrilled that things were finally turning around – for the better.
Rydel cheered, "That's the Maia we know and love!"
"Yeah," Laura exclaimed, throwing her arms around the taller brunette in a crushing hug. "I knew this wouldn't break you. You're so much stronger than you realize, Maia."
Maia returned the hug, tears stinging her eyes. "Having you three as friends makes it hard to forget. And when I do – I know you guys will be there for me."
"Of course," said trio chimed in as one, all grinning happily.
Now that the emotional storm had passed, the four settled down on the couch to discuss a battle strategy for the next few days.
Laura asked, "When did you want to talk to Rocky, Maia?"
"Not sure, but soon. Maybe tomorrow?"
Raini nodded. "The sooner, the better, I always say."
Rydel shot Laura a glance. "If he has errands to run again, we'll handle it. We can switch it with someone else's chores."
"That'll work," Laura agreed. Taking her cell phone out, she checked the time. "Rocky should still be out for a little longer, but the other guys are coming back soon. I'll text Ryland about tomorrow."
"You know," Maia thoughtfully said, "with the way Ryland handles everything so efficiently, it's a wonder he hasn't taken over the world yet."
Rydel dryly said, "I'm sure he's thought about it, but probably doesn't want to handle all of the paperwork."

It was close to midnight when Riker, Ratliff, and Ross found Rocky in the basement, furiously working on a song. He held his guitar on his lap, fingers working the chords before abruptly stopping to write something down on the music sheet. If he didn't like what he wrote, his brows furrowed deeply and he erased it almost viciously. He'd also taken to mumbling incoherently under his breath as he worked.
"Hey, Rocky," Riker greeted, half cautious and half uncertain. "What are you working on?"
He didn't glance up, but he answered, "A song."
Riker rolled his eyes. He looked at the other two, hoping they would say something that would get Rocky to have an actual conversation. When he'd come home from running errands, he'd barely said anything to anyone. Everyone had been a little worried, but if Rocky was working on a song… Riker really hoped that meant something good.
"What kind of song?" Ross asked, catching the hint.
Rocky's brows furrowed as he read through a few lines he'd written, shook his head, erased it, then started jotting down notes. "A song for Maia," he absently answered.
Ratliff took a seat on the couch, smiling encouragingly. "Hey, that's great, dude," he enthused. The last place he wanted to be was at home, alone, so the Lynch family had been more than willing to let him sleepover. It wasn't unheard of, but the reason behind it was definitely more… unique. "Do you think you'll get it done by tomorrow?"
That seemed to completely catch Rocky's attention. He stopped what he was doing to finally look at his brothers and good friend. "What are you talking about?"
Riker casually crossed his arms over his chest as he answered, "Laura was mentioning over dinner that Maia would be stopping by. If you manage to finish your song by then…"
His trailed off words and their meaning didn't need to be finished.
Rocky instantly perked up, more determined than ever to complete his project. "I can finish it," he said. "I can definitely finish it, except…" He ran a frustrated hand through his hair. "Lyrically, it's basically done. It's the instruments…"
"Dude," Ross interjected. When Rocky looked at him, he grinned. "Why do you think we came down here, instead of sleeping?"
Ratliff added, "Trust us – we don't want to be anywhere else than right here, helping you win back Maia."
Warmth filled his chest, and Rocky wouldn't have been able to contain his grin even if he'd wanted to. "Thanks, you guys," he said, deeply appreciative and letting it show.
Riker grinned back. "Let's get started!"

The Next Day
Rocky nervously paced the living room, guitar strapped across his back, and hands repeatedly running through his hair as he tried to work off the jittery energy that refused to leave his system. He needed to calm down, but the ability to take a deep breath seemed impossible. His heart was pumping too hard, his lungs felt constricted as it tried to suck in oxygen that was too thin.
What if Maia didn't like his song? What if she didn't forgive him? What if he had messed up so horribly with his situation with Hannah, Maia refused to listen to him? What would he do? He didn't want to even contemplate such a fate. He had to think positive. Maia would forgive him. She had to. And once she forgave him, she wouldn't even think about ending their relationship. Because that was something else Rocky had to worry about. Another reason she had to like his song.
Yeah, no pressure. None at all.
"You ready, Rocky?"
He stopped pacing to look up from his intense stare at the ground, eyes connecting with Laura. A weak smile curved his lips. "I hope so."
Laura gave him a sympathetic look. "Everything will work out. I promise."
The words were simple but it soothed Rocky's frazzled nerves. Shoulders straightening, he finally took a deep breath and breathed out the negative emotions plaguing him. The next smile to appear was stronger and more confident.
"You're right, Laura. Everything will work out – It has to." He just had to believe that his feelings would get across to the girl of his dreams through the song he wrote just for her. He couldn't let nerves and fear get in the way. He would fight for Maia with everything he had. She was more than worth it. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Laura replied, smiling. "You're gonna be awesome – just like you always are."
Ratliff ran into the living room at that moment. "Rydel said she just saw Maia's car," he reported. "She's pulling into the driveway soon."
"That's our cue." Laura shot Rocky a thumbs-up, beaming encouragingly. "Go get her, tiger." Using her free hand, she snagged Ratliff by the wrist and started pulling him outside with her, towards the backyard. "Good luck!"
"You can do it, dude," was the last thing Ratliff said before he disappeared out of view.
Rocky took another deep breath, automatically adjusting his guitar into its proper position. I can do this, he thought, closing his eyes to center himself. I can do this.
At the sound of the front door opening, feet softly padding inside, his eyes opened, calm and determined.
I can do this.

In the pool house, which at one point had served as R5's rehearsal area before the basement had been converted, Laura, Raini, Calum, and the remaining members of R5 were all huddled around a single television, most seated on old lounge chairs. Aside from the screen's illumination, they were surrounded by darkness in order to not give away their current position. All eyes were locked on the action taking place through the camera they'd hidden in the living room, wanting to make sure everything went as planned for the wayward couple.
"Are you sure the volume works on this thing?" Raini inquired, skeptical.
Ratliff answered, "It should be. We'll know when Rocky and Maia actually start talking."
"Where did the remote go?" Ross asked, brows furrowed as he looked around from his seated position.
"… Let's not talk about that."
Rydel softly squealed in excitement. "There's Maia! There's Maia!" Her hand lightly slapped Calum in the arm as if he wasn't paying attention like everyone else.
"Oh," Laura commented, "I have to ask her where she got that top. It's totally cute."
"She definitely matches that color," Calum agreed, nodding sagely.
Suddenly, Riker curiously asked, "Hey, do you think what we're doing is illegal? Because it sort of feels illegal…"
Everyone shrugged, uncaring. "Probably."

When her eyes had locked with his, Maia had felt her entire world shift. On a visceral, soul-deep level, she knew this moment would change her life. Forever. She just hoped it was for the better.
"Hello," she softly greeted. Gosh, she was nervous. She had wanted to see him – talk to him – but she hadn't expected it to be so soon, so sudden. She'd thought she could get some advice from the other girls first. Maybe go over the speech she had been working on since yesterday. But that obviously wasn't going to happen now. Crap.
Rocky gave a small smile. "Hello," he replied, equally soft but full of affection and love. "You know, the first time we met you said the same thing – Hello, I mean."
"I did?"
"You did. And at that moment, Maia, I knew you had me."
Maia watched as Rocky positioned his guitar just-so, sitting on a stool she hadn't noticed before. Her entire focus had been on him, and still was.
Her breath caught when he struck the first chord, stunned and touched. She had expected a long, heart-felt conversation between them, not a song. And as he continued to play the intro, she instantly knew it was something new. Did he write this song for her?
Rocky's eyes held hers, grinning, and he opened his mouth to start singing.
Had Me at Hello:
"I can feel you comin' from a mile away
My pulse starts racing from the words that you say
And you say so many of them like you don't have a clue
That I'm signed, sealed delivered with a stamp on"
Maia felt tears prick her eyes, so happy at that moment that she was ready to burst into sobs. She didn't want to lose Rocky, and it seemed like he felt the same way about her.
"You don't have to try too hard
You already have my heart
You don't got a thing to prove
I'm already into you
So
Hold, Hold, Hold, hold me tight now
Cause I'm so, so good to go
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello"
She softly laughed as she heard the lyrics, and Rocky took that as a good sign. He had missed the way her chocolate eyes would sparkle when she was happy, the way her beautiful face would glow with warmth and tenderness.
If he had it his way, she'd always look like that.
And he really hoped that was the case.
"Close your mouth now baby don't say a word
Cause you ain't saying nothing
I ain't already heard
Plus all them words get buried when the beats so loud
And the speakers blowin' up to this dance song
You don't have to try too hard
You already have my heart
You don't got a thing to prove
I'm already into you
So
Hold, hold, hold, hold me tight now
Cause I'm so, so good to go
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello"
From the pool house, the others were smiling widely and a few were moving to the beat of the acoustic performance. They could already tell that Rocky and Maia would be just fine. And they all knew that this experience would make them that much stronger, as a couple and as individuals.
Without taking her eyes from the screen, Laura reached from her seated position towards Ross. Her slim fingers easily laced with his, palm-to-palm, and squeezed with affection.
Surprised but not displeased by her action, Ross glanced at Laura from the corner of his eye. She was happily grinning at the view of Rocky and Maia without a care in the world. She was just glad her friends weren't on the outs anymore, that their relationship was being fixed.
Eyes softening, Ross squeezed her hand back. He never wanted to let go.
And inwardly, deep down inside, a voice whispered, You won't ever have to if you make her completely yours.
He shook his head, dispelling the thought. He couldn't think like that. Laura loved Riker, and Riker loved Laura. End of story.
Turning back to face the television, he tried to concentrate on what was happening between Rocky and Maia. Yet, his thoughts continued to wander, to fantasize how things would be different if Laura were exclusively his.
"Oooooh Ooooh ooh ooh
Oooooh Ooooh ooh ooh
Oooooh Ooooh ooh ooh
Oooooh Ooooh ooh ooh
Oooooh Ooooh ooh ooh"
By this point, Maia was standing right in front of Rocky, their eyes still glued on each other. The amount of love and pure affection welled up within her, almost overflowing. She hadn't known she could feel this deeply, this strongly about a guy, let alone another human being. It was just… more than she had ever felt before.
"So
Hold, hold, hold, hold me tight now
I'm so, so good to go
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
Don't say Don't say good night you know
You had me at hello."
The song came to an end, Rocky letting the last note ring out, his heart bare for her to see. To hopefully accept.
Maia started, "Rocky, I–"
He cut her off. Standing and lifting his guitar over his head, he placed it on its stand. "Wait. I have a lot I want to say to you, Maia." Taking her hands into his, he gazed soulfully into her eyes. "I owe you a huge apology. I should've handled the Hannah and baby situation better – At the least, I should have prepared you. Instead, I let you walk into a mine field. You have no idea how sorry I am for that." He gently squeezed her hands to add emphasis. "Hannah and I… Our relationship had always been complicated. But I stopped having any romantic feelings for her a long time ago. That night in Vegas, I was weak," he admitted, shamefully. "And because of that, I hurt the one girl in my life who means more to me than anyone."
Taking a deep breath, he continued, wanting to finish and get everything out and in the open. "I wrote that song for you, hoping – praying – that we could fix our relationship. I don't want to lose you, Maia. You mean more to me than I ever thought possible. I want to make this – us – work. But that's only if you want the same thing."
Tears were freely pouring down her face, but the grin and the soft laugh Maia released was the only thing stopping Rocky from panicking and thinking he'd said the wrong thing.
And when she jumped into his arms, wrapping hers tightly around him, he knew everything was going to be okay. He expelled a large gust of air, not realizing he'd been holding his breath, as he held her securely against his leanly muscled frame.
"I'm sorry, too," Maia said, voice muffled, "I could've handled things better, too, instead of running away. God, Rocky, when I did that in the parking lot… I've been calling myself all kinds of stupid ever since. That day, I wanted to see you but then I panicked and took off. I'm so sorry. I must have made you feel so awful."
"It's all right. I'm just glad we're talking about this now." He hands rubbed soothing circles in her back. Honestly, he was just relieved they were talking at all. Being separated from Maia had been sheer torture. But now that things were okay again…
Easing her back, he framed her face between his palms. Even with tears streaking her cheeks, eyes red and a little swollen, she was the most beautiful woman in the world. He smiled, tenderly.
"I love you."
Her eyes started swimming with tears again, and her smile widened even further, if possible. They hadn't said those particular three words to each other before, but that didn't mean the feelings weren't there. They had just been waiting for the perfect time.
"I love you, too."
Knowing he was grinning like a fool and not caring, Rocky leaned down and claimed Maia's lips with a passionate kiss. He held her close, wanting her to be even closer. With that thought in mind, he easily lifted her in his arms, her legs wrapped around his waist, and settled them onto the couch. He would make sure they made it to his bedroom... Eventually.
SP*SP*SP
Ratliff quickly slapped his hands over his eyes, blocking the screen but – more importantly – what it was currently broadcasting. "Well, that's something I definitely don't need to see," he said, speaking a little more loudly than needed. There was also a distinct squeak to it.
"Yeah," everyone else agreed, embarrassed and looking anywhere but at the old television set.
"We could really use that remote now," Ross grumbled. Although he was happy for Rocky and Maia's saved relationship, he really didn't want to see either in such an intimate setting. He'd rather think of them as Barbie and Ken dolls.
"I thought we weren't going to talk about the remote anymore," the drummer mumbled, hands still covering his sight. He started gesturing with his elbows. "Someone just needs to push the power button on the TV."
Calum said, "But it's so dark in here – and clearly no one wants to see what's happening between the lovebirds."
"I nominate Riker to turn off the TV," Laura said, cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and eyes covered with her own hands.
Riker instantly protested, "Wait. What? No way!"
"I second Laura's nomination," Raini said, wishing for this whole incident to end already. As it stood, she probably won't be able to look Rocky and Maia in the face ever again. And it didn't help that the volume definitely worked.
As more people spoke out about Riker having 'the honor' of turning off the TV, the blonde bassist muttered grudgingly under his breath before resigning himself to the task. "Alright, fine. Damn it."
Then, squinting at the overly bright screen in the otherwise dark-as-night room, he randomly jabbed at the first button he could make out.
"Ooh, Rocky…" Maia moaned.
"Maia. God, Maia," Rocky panted out in response.
Everyone screamed in horror at the same time. "Wrong button, wrong button!"
"Oh. My. God!"
"I'm going to need so much therapy after this. So much. Therapy."
"My ears! My ears are bleeding!"
"I want my blankie!"
"Make it stop! Make it stop!"
As chaos broke out in the pool house, Riker closed his eyes, wincing.
"Ah, shit."
