Shannon249: I used to have a Wattpad account then I moved onto here. Ah well, thanks for recommended it, that means a lot! Ugh school sucks so hard.

Crazypoptartdude: I just hope people don't get tired of waiting and stop reading it or something. Yeah, I love nice Jon. It's okay, I don't mind.

ToffeeandFudge: Stop guessing so well. Doesn't year 11 suck?!

Daire123: I'm glad you understand! I'm trying.

SuShadowhunter from Ravenclaw: Well I'm glad you're so eager to read new chapters. I'll put the summary at the end of the chapter.

After their near death experience, Meliorn turned the car around and made his way to the Thorns base. They were going to have to be more careful now.

Bat met that at the entrance in a state. With his eyes, he did a quick check of everyone to see they were unscathed then got about the business when they were.

He began leading them towards Jonathan's office. "Jordan. What can you tell me?" Bat's eyes were steely and determined.

"Only everything you already know." Jordan let out a frustrated sigh. "There are whole gangs with motives now the Thorns are going up in the world."

Bat stopped walking and looked at Clary. She knew what he was thinking; do you think the Bronx would do this?

Clary hesitated and looked away. Bat's could be right. What if Jace dated Clary just to distract her or just so he could get closer to the gang's business? Would he do that? Clary met his gaze again and shrugged half-heartedly. A shimmer of sympathy ran through his eyes before he turned back around and continued walking.

When they reached Jonathan's office, Clary excused herself telling Bat , Jordan and Meliorn that she was going to call Jace.

He picked up on the third ring. Clary could have screamed with relief. "Claryyyy," he sounded half asleep. "it's like 5am. What is it?"

Clary smiled. After that, she didn't care that she was waking him up, she was happy whoever was following didn't go for him.

"I didn't want to wake you, I just thought I'd let you know what's happening." And to see that he's safe.

Jace yawned. "Go on then, dish the dirt."

"Well... we were tailed." She heard a thud. "Jace, are you okay?!"

"Fuck. Yep, ow, just fell out of bed. Did you say you were tailed?!"

"Yeah. I have to say, Meliorn's good at his job."

"I know, I know, I'll praise him later. Are you okay? Do you know who it was? Where are-"

Despite the situation Clary smiled. "Jace, everyone is fine. I'm fine. Stop asking so many questions. Look, I'm about to talk to Jonathan so I'll talk to you later."

"No, no, no, no. Clarissa, don't you dare, I need to know everything."

"Jace, breathe. I have people on the case as we speak-"

"That's it, I'm coming over."

"There's really no need for that, Jace."

"Tough."

Clary sighed. "Fine, I'll tell Meliorn to fetch you."

"No need, I'll take the Harley."

Clary sighed. "Just... be careful."

"You too. Up your security."

"Yes, Sir."

"I knew you'd be a sub-"

"Don't finish that sentence. Just get your ass here. And stop smirking."

Jace laughed loudly. "Fine, fine. See you in 5."

"Don't fucking speed."

Jace huffed. "I'll be there in 7 then."

"Better."

When the phone call was over, Clary walked into Jonathan's office. Hearing the heavy door close, Jonathan turned quickly to see Clary approaching.

Clary instantly saw how stressed he was. His hair looked like he'd been running his hands through it continuously, he looked to have bags under his eyes- which Clary suspected had been there a few days; she'd have to ask him- and a worried expression seemed carved into his face with no sign of leaving.

"Fucking hell, Clare, I'm sorry."

Clary frowned in confusion. "Why?"

"If I didn't call you over here-"

"The people following us would've only done so another time. Jon, seriously, don't get wound up about it."

Jonathan slung and arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a hug and let out the first breath in what seemed like hours.

"I'm just glad you're safe." He murmured into her hair.

Jordan spoke up then. "Oi, what about us? We could've died too!"

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "What, do you want a hug too?"

Jordan pretended to think about it. "Ummmm... No thanks."

"Didn't think so."

Clary cleared her throat. "So, find anything new?"

"No but..." Jonathan turned to Bat, Jordan and Meliorn. "Get out."

Bat approached the door without question whilst Jordan's eyebrow shot up. "What?! We deserve to know-"

Bat sighed. "Kyle. Shut up and get out."

"Fine."

As soon as they all left, Jonathan turned to Clary. "Loverboy doesn't have him trained very fucking well."

Clary rolled her eyes. "What did you want, Jon?"

"Right." Jonathan took a seat on the edge of the desk, putting space between himself and Clary. She can be scary when she wants to. "You know how you told me to meet mom if I wanted to?" She nodded. "Well, I did and she told me something. I didn't know whether it was true but after you got tailed, I'm not sure."

"Spit it fucking out, Jon."

"She said that Valentine was after us. That he's been searching for her for 5 years and that now he's after us. Clare, I think she might be right."

Clary stood there stunned.

"Clary, say something."

"I-"

"CLARY?" Panted an out of breath Jace who'd just burst through the door. He caught sight of her then ran up to her and took hold of her checking her over. "Are you okay?"

Clary said nothing but threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.

"I'll leave you two to it." Jonathan said quietly before briskly exiting.

Jace spoke softly. "Clary, this isn't because of the tailing, is it?"

Clary just shook her head and buried her head further into Jace's neck.

"Okay." Jace spotted a leather couch in the corner of the room and picked Clary up by her hips so she automatically wrapped her legs around him. He sat them both down- so she was straddling him- and he sat there hugging her and rubbing her back, occasionally kissing her head.

"Alec! Alec! You're missing the best part!"

Alec hummed letting Magnus know that although he wasn't asleep, he wasn't really awake either.

"Aleeeeec!"

"Mags. It's, like, 4am. I don't do all-nighters." With that, he nuzzled into Magnus neck letting him know that the conversation was over.

Magnus sighed and took his eyes away from the film on the TV to look at Alec (as best as he could at that angle), who was lying on his chest. If anyone else fell asleep during Mean Girls, Magnus would be more than angry but one look at Alec's peaceful face swept that emotion aside and replaced it with awe.

He was happy- no, ecstatic- that Alec was becoming more comfortable around him. They'd only been dating for just under a fortnight but Alec was really warming up to him on a personal level. He would call Magnus, asking to call around instead of waiting for an invite, he'd initiate kissing and would cuddle up to Magnus on his own accord. Like now, for example. At the beginning of the film, Magnus was lying on the sofa, Alec was sitting on an armchair but before Cady could even catch a glimpse of the Plastics, Alec was sprawled out on Magnus's chest.

Magnus savoured these moments. Because although Alec was more comfortable around Magnus, he still did things like ringing the doorbell (even though Magnus had told him plenty of times to just walk in) and waiting until Magnus was awake to walk around the apartment if he accidentally fell asleep.

Magnus raised a hand to stroke Alec's damp hair. He had, however, finally accepted that he's allowed to take showers at Magnus's apartment. Even though, although he has asked hundreds of times, he's never let Magnus take one with him.

Magnus's hand stilled in Alec's hair as he realised something; they hadn't even had a first date. Slowly reaching over for the remote, he turned off the TV and closed his eyes to mentally prepare a perfect first date.
