Chapter 39 -

There was a sense of unknowing as to what kind of reception they would get from the rest of Berk, the worry on Hiccup's face was obvious. Fortunately there were enough boats for everyone, and enough room for the dragons to rest so they did not have to fly all the way.

Night took over and the stars filled the clear dark sky, Hiccup was sat at the front of the boat, he had let Toothless sleep to save his energy, but he himself could not sleep, he knew Berk would not accept him, Toothless or the sudden change right away but hoped they could be talked to.

"You should be sleeping, you have a big day tomorrow" A sweet voice said as he felt arms wrap around him and a chin on his shoulder, Hiccup angled his head and placed it against the one on his shoulder "I believe, someone needs to keep watch" Hiccup laughed, he turned himself around and faced Astrid.

"And what's wrong with the guys steering the boats" Astrid laughed, "Oh nothing its just... that... umm...just" Hiccup stuttered, Astrid raised her eyebrow and grinned at Hiccup's shuddering, "Ok fine, I couldnt sleep" Hiccup gave in.

Hiccup then stood up and walked to the side if the boat and leaned over the wooden rail, "I'm nervous, I'm going back to the place that made me an outcast and consider me a traitor, I just don't know whats going to happen." Astrid sighed as she got up and walked over to Hiccup, she stood to the side of Hiccup with her back against the railing, "I know Hiccup, but you've got the rest of us on your side, Gobber, your dad who happens to be the chief by the way, and me, who is the most feared person with an axe" Astrid explained putting emphasise on the last statement. Hiccup laughed nervously, "Shall we try this without violence, besides..." he turned and walked towards the large wooden pillar that held the sails of the boat, he placed his back to it and slid to sit down.

"... they won't just be questioning me, they may wonder why my mother is still alive, when she supposedly eating by dragons, what 20 years ago. I don't think I'm going to welcomed on Berk." Astrid shook her head as she sighed, she walked over to him and knelt down I'm front of him and raised his head to look him in the eyes. "You've spent enough time caring what other people think of you, now they should care what you think of them, you are the strongest of all of us Hiccup and don't let any one tell you any different."

Hiccup smiled, Astrid leaned in and gave him a quick peck of the lips which Hiccup quickly copied, Astrid then turned and sat between Hiccup's legs and leaned her back against his chest, setting her head between his head and shoulder, he couldn't see but she had a smile on her face.

Hiccup put his arms around her waist connecting his hands on her stomach, she then placed her hands on his. Hiccup rested his head on Astrids who let out a yawn. "So you think they should all care what I think of them, even you?" Hiccup asked. "Yes Hiccup even me" Astrid answered.

"Well I'll tell you... I love you" Hiccup whispered, Astrid turned her head gave him a quick kiss and turned her head back around, "I love you too"

They both smiled as they stayed as they were until they shit their eyes and allowed their dreams take them into a deep sleep, knowing they had each other to them safe, no nightmares would dare interrupt the peace tonight.

Yes I know it's a short chapter

And yes I know it's all about the love in this chapter
