It was one in the morning when Lin arrived home with Bolin, Su and her family in tow. "There are some rooms down the hall. Huan, Wing and Wei I think you may have to share."
The three boys shrugged, not really caring that they had to share, they were too tired. "Thanks Aunt Lin." The three brothers turned around, walking off to find a room.
"Su, you and Ba-"
"Mum?" Lin turned around to find Ikki standing in the hallway.
"What are you doing up?"
"I couldn't sleep. I was too worried about you and Aunt Su." Lin bent down and took the eleven year old into her arms. "I'm glad to see you're all okay."
Lin smiled as Ikki began to doze off against her shoulder. "Su, Baatar and Opal, there is a room across from mine and Tenzin's. You can stay in there. Bolin, you can have the couch." Lin opened her bedroom door to find three more of her children occupying her bed with their father.
"Looks like we're not the only ones sharing a bed."
"Humph. Go to bed Su."
"Yes mum."
Lin closed the door behind her as she entered her bedroom. You have got to be kidding me. Her other children and husband were asleep in her bed and there was one more child to add to the 'sleep over.' She placed Ikki down on the bed, as she got dressed in her pyjamas, which meant shrugging off her armour and sleeping in her sweaty clothes.
"Lin?"
"Go back to sleep Tez." She said, wishing she had spoken quieter.
"Mum? Did you save aunt Su?"
"Yes, I did Jinora."
"I'm happy you are all okay. What happened?"
Lin let out a sigh, as she slinked into bed between her two girls. "I'll tell you in the morning. Sleep."
Jinora buried her face into her mother's side, closing her eyes, she drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
Lin was roused by someone wrapping their arms around her torso from behind. "Tez, I'm not in the mood. Wait until tonight."
"Wow. You can be so cold hearted in the morning. Makes me wonder how you managed to have four kids."
Lin's eyes widened. It was too early in the morning for this. "Let go of me Su."
"Why? Remember when we were kids and we'd sneak into each others bedrooms and do just this?"
"I remember mum being too tired to carry you all the way to your bedroom, so she'd dump you in my bed."
Su sighed. "Can't you be nice for once?"
"… No. What are you doing in my bed anyway?"
"That stupid meditation gong woke up Opal, and she had to get out of bed. She tried getting up without waking us but she stepped on my back. That kid may be graceful on land and in the air but anywhere else and she is just useless."
"If you want to stay, then shut up and sleep. And let go of me!" Lin couldn't help but smile when Su's arms tightened around her. She would never admit that she missed moments like these.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, the door swung open. "Hey mum! Hey aunt Lin! Can we sleep in here?"
"Su, your kids, get them to shut up."
"Huan? Wing? What's wrong with your room?"
"Wei is snoring and there is a gong going off every two seconds. It's ruining my mind." Huan walked to the foot of the bed and jumped in next to his mother. Wing followed suit by lying next to his aunt.
"Su, you're children are annoying."
"Says the one with the fartbender."
Lin remained silent. Su had won this round. The four Beifongs fell asleep. Content to allow no more interruptions disturb them.
