Lin opened the door to her home, thunder and lightning crashing in the night sky behind her. Lin crossed the threshold of the family home to turn on the light. A resounding click was the only response she received. "Damn power."

Lin ventured further into the lounge room slowly, hoping she wouldn't bang into anything. Of course she wouldn't get her way, because the universe hates her. She let out a resounding oof when she ran into something solid, causing it to, scream? "What the? Jinora, Ikki?"

"Mum?"

"Where are you two?"

"Under here."

Lin reached out, feeling with her hands for where they were, when her hands made contact with a blanket. Great, a fort. Lin got down on her hands and knees and crawled into the small space with her daughters. "Cosy. Jinora, where is your father?"

"He's helping the acolytes get the bison into their stables."

Lin felt something climb into her lap, instantly clingling to her. "Hello to you to Ikki." Thunder boomed outside, shaking the house. Ikki buried her head into her mother's iron clad ribs. "Ikki, it's just thunder."

"Don't care. It's scary. You're wet and cold."

"That's because it's raining outside."

"Mum, can you make hot chocolate? It's really cold."

"Well, the gas should still work. Why don't we find a torch, grab a blanket and drink hot chocolate. I need to get dressed. By the feels of it, you two are already in your pyjamas."

"Mhm."

Lin crawled out of the makeshift fort, Ikki still clinging to her. "Ikki, I need to get dressed. I can't take off my armour if you are on me." She took hold of her youngest daughter and put her down on the wooden floor. "You and Jinora can grab a blanket from the hallway cupboard." She placed a hand to the wall, feeling her way to her bedroom where she began rummaging through her draws for a flashlight, when her hands found themselves on a box. "This'll work." She opened the box to reveal two glowing crystals, bright enough to light up her bedroom. "Much better."

Lin walked back into the kitchen to find Jinora and Ikki feeling around in the icebox. "Wow, where did you find those mum?"

"They were a gift. I thought I told you to find a blanket"

"We did. It's in the fort."

She handed Ikki a crystal. "You take this and wait in the fort for me."

"Okay!"

Lin smiled as she watched her two girls run off together. She began to rummage through the icebox for the milk, finding it at the bottom under the large amount of vegetables. "Bloody Tenzin and his vegetables."

She boiled the milk and added chocolate before pouring it into three metal cups, allowing for her to crawl into the fort without spilling a drop. "One for Ikki, one for Jinora and one for me. Blow on it, it's hot."

"Thank you mum." The two girls said simultaneously before taking a sip of their beverages.

"So," Jinora began, "where did you get the crystals from?"

"Your father gave them to me."

"Why?"

Lin picked up the blanket, wrapping it around her girl's and drawing them close. "Well, we went to Ba Sing Se on a holiday with our families. Tenzin and I decided to explore the hidden tunnels under the city. He was such a whimp back then, constantly asking me if I knew where I was going. I didn't, but it isn't much of an adventure if you don't get lost. We found a cave and it was lit up with a lot of crystals. It was beautiful and very romantic. Tenzin took my hands in his and stared into my eyes, he told me he loved me and we shared our first kiss together. On my seventeenth birthday he gave those two crystals to me. He and Aang went back to Ba Sing Se just to get them."

"Wow, I hope a boy does that for me."

"No boys for you young lady."

Ikki joined in her mother's disapproval for boys. "Yeah, they have germs and diseases."

"That's right Ikki."

There was a loud bang, followed by grumbling. "Who puts chairs in the middle of the lounge room?"

"Tez?"

"Lin? Where are you?" She lifted the blanket, allowing the room to light up. "A fort? Why didn't you light candles?"

"I didn't want to ruin the moment. Are the bison safe?"

"I believe they will be alright for tonight. Though I think it is time we put these two to bed." He gestured to Ikki and Jinora who were struggling to keep their eyes open.

"I think you're right. Go dry off, I'll be there in a minute." Lin picked up a girl in each arm, both allowing their heads to drop onto her shoulder. She placed each girl in their respected beds, kissing them both on the forehead before retreating to her own bedroom, where she found Tenzin bundled under the blankets. "You look cold."

"I feel cold. Care to warm me up?" Lin crawled into bed, snuggling into Tenzin's chest with a sigh of familiar comfort. "I'm surprised you still have them."

"You shouldn't be. I would never throw out something that sentimental."

"You know, I was so nervous down in those caves."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I kept thinking I would screw it up. I wanted to kiss you, I just didn't know how. In the end I took Bumi's advice."

Lin had to cock an eyebrow. "You took sasquatches advice?"

"It was pretty good advice if I ended up with you and two beautiful daughters."

"A tad corny Tez. So what was the advice?"

"Don't think, just kiss."

"Care to demonstrate?"

Just as Tenzin was about to lean in and kiss his wife, a crack of lightning followed by thunder sounded throughout the home. "Three, two, one."

"Mum, dad, can we sleep in your bed?"
