A/N: Now the wolves are getting into it. This might complicate things. And now that they are going to be in school for the day, what is going to happen between Bella and Edward? Enjoy the new chapter!

Chapter 13 – Edward Strikes

Pulling into the school parking lot, Jasper scanned the tarmac to see if his "family" had already arrived or if by some miracle he and Bella won the race, but upon seeing a certain Volvo in its normal parking spot, Jasper knew that Edward was already there and probably waiting for a chance to pounce. Before he pulled the keys out of the ignition, he spoke to the woman next to him, "Edward is here. I need you to stay right with me and we will go to the office before I take you to class. Alright darlin'?"

Bella could see the serious expression on his face and a glint in his eyes. Was he afraid for her? Not Jasper, the once Confederate officer who became one of the things to fear most in the south; however, if she was being honest, she was afraid too. If anything happened to him… well, if he felt for her what she felt for him, then maybe he was a little fearful, not a lot, but a little. Squeezing the hand that held hers, she simply said, "Alright."

Was he afraid? Yes, because if anything happened to the brunette Jasper had fallen so hard for then he didn't know what he would do. Losing Bella would be like losing himself. Shutting off the engine, he got out of the car and walked at human speed to the other side where his mate was getting out of the car and felt the eyes of the school upon him. Apparently the other students still had not gotten over the news from the previous week and still wanted to gawk at them. Smirking as he opened Bella's door, he reached in and helped her out of the car… not because she needed it, but because he wanted to rub it in just a little more for Mike and Eric so that they would know not to even think about attempting a pursuit, and the same went for any other guy that wanted his Bella.

Without releasing her hand, Jasper started to lead her out of the parking lot and towards the office. He could only hope that there was room in another class or in Bella's class, however, upon seeing Alice's face as they approached the door they needed, he knew a class change would not be forthcoming, "What's goin' on Alice?"

"I knew I couldn't change classes, but I tried anyway. All of the science classes are full except for Physical Science and Bella's already taken that. Her class is full, so I can't transfer into it," Alice grumbled and held up her hand to ward off any comments or suggestions from Jasper, "And before you say anything or ask me… yes, Bella has to stay in Biology because she has to have a science credit."

"And we'd have a better chance at teachin my dead horse to dance than Edward decidin to drop the class," Jasper growled in frustration and ran his free hand through his hair.

Unable to resist, Bella snickered, "Sorry, but that image popped into my head and…"

"It's alright darlin'," Jasper chuckled before his face turned hard once again, "So what are we gonna do? Do you see anything?"

Alice concentrated and eventually shook her head, "No, I don't see anything happening today. The future though is a little uncertain."

"I only need to know about today right now. Thanks Alice," Jasper placed his hand on her shoulder in appreciation for her help and then glanced at Bella. The scowl on her face told him something was amiss, "Bella?"

"What if I could test out of the subject and therefore still get credit?" Bella suggested.

Jasper thought about it for a second before responding, "Like CLEP?" When he saw her nod, he shrugged, "It might work. Carlisle and I could help you review the things you will need to know. Let's go see if it will work." Pulling her into the office, they found Mrs. Cope standing on the other side of the counter, "Good mornin' Mrs. Cope."

The secretary glanced up from the stack of papers she was sorting and smiled at the small group that had entered the office. She always felt comfortable and happy around this particular Cullen son, unlike the other two, "Jasper, good morning. What can I do for you?"

"Bella was wondering if there was a way for her to get out of Biology. It seems that she learned everything they are studying already when she was in Phoenix," Jasper grinned and continued to send the secretary good vibes. Humans could be a little antsy around vampires and he had learned a long time ago that it was best to butter someone up before asking for something. The easiest way to do that was to use his gift.

Moving her eyes to the brunette standing beside Jasper, Mrs. Cope's smile increase, "Hello Bella. How are you feeling? I know you were sick last week. Your father was so excited when you decided to move up here. He came to the school the next day to find out how to enroll you."

"Much better Mrs. Cope. Thank you," Bella responded. After a couple more pleasantries were exchanged, she asked, "Umm, Mrs. Cope, like Jasper was saying, I have already learned everything we are doing in Biology. Is there a way for me to get out of it or test out of it?"

"We don't really offer those tests here, dear," the secretary answered.

"What if I found a place to take the test? Would you accept it and allow me to take a different subject during that period?" The brunette pressed. She caught Alice's small smile out of the corner of her eye and although she had not been around the almost pixie like person very much, Bella had a feeling that smile was a good thing.

The door behind the small group opened and closed and Mr. Greene, the school principal, walked up to the students, "Good morning everyone. Is there a problem?"

"Mr. Greene, Bella would like to know if there is a way to test out of Biology. It seems she is bored since she has already studied Mr. Molina's material down in Phoenix. I know we don't offer the tests, but what if she could find a testing center elsewhere?" Mrs. Cope quickly explained.

Thinking about it for a moment, Mr. Greene asked, "Normally we don't allow that, and not many high schools do, but would your father be alright with you testing out of it?"

"Yah, he would," Bella replied, or at least she hoped Charlie would be fine with it.

"I'll tell you what, bring me a note from him stating that it is fine with him for you to test out of it, and a location that will allow you to test out of it, then I will place you in a different class. However, if you take the test and fail, next year you will have to take two sciences. Until I get both, you will have to attend Mr. Molina's class. Is that acceptable?" Mr. Greene offered.

Not that she had much choice in the matter, Bella quickly accepted the arrangement, but the problem lie in what they were going to do about that particular day. Finding a testing site shouldn't be too difficult and neither should getting a note from Charlie, but this was Monday morning and that meant she still had to go to Biology that day.

Jasper could feel Bella's happiness and trepidation and leaned over to whisper, "Remember, Alice said today will be fine. We will have everything by tomorrow… and maybe sooner, and you will not have to worry about it anymore."

They all left the office and Alice left the company of the couple in order to go to her own class as Jasper walked Bella to first period. She didn't see anything happening today, but she knew Edward could be sneaky and she would not let her guard down. She would keep scanning the future in order to make sure Bella remained safe. It wasn't something she saw, but a feeling told her that she might be missing something, and Edward knew how to get around her visions.

Walking his girlfriend to class, Jasper could feel the emotions coming from the other students: jealousy (from both girls and guys), shock, excitement, hate. Humans and vampires might think they could hide their emotions, but not from him. No, the southern vampire could feel them all and inflict his own emotions, wreaking havoc on his unsuspecting victim(s) if he chose to do so. However, he held himself back for a variety of reasons, but it did make him wonder if the rogue vampire and Edward were the only danger lurking around for him and Bella… not that a human boy could pose much of a danger for a vampire.

As the couple approached Bella's first period class, Jasper saw Edward hiding in the shadows and thought, "So he is already looking for his opening. Brave idiot." Bending close to Bella's ear, he spoke so only she could hear, "Edward's close. I want you to stay close to others if I'm not around and do not go anywhere alone with him."

Bella had a spark of fear shoot through her chest but nodded, "Got it."

"Good. I'll see ya soon," he said before he kissed her and whispered, "I love you." She was prevented from saying anything when Jessica and Angela walked up to the couple and dragged Bella inside the classroom. Although it irritated him, it also made him feel a little better that someone was with her preventing Edward from getting close to her. Walking off, Jasper heard Jessica beg, "So you and Jasper are still together and this is a real thing? What about the others?" He found himself chuckling as he walked down to his assigned classroom.

The brunette was pretty sure she had covered all questions about her and Jasper the week before, thus Bella was a little irritated that Jessica was still asking her about it and wanting to know the details of her weekend with said Texan, "We are dating, we hung out this weekend, end of story."

"Where are the deets?" Jessica inquired.

"Jessica!" Angela chastised her friend.

Looking slightly apologetic, and no one really buying it, Jessica muttered, "Sorry, but even you have to admit that this is one of the biggest things to happen around here in like forever! As a reporter, are you telling me that you aren't the least bit curious?"

"She already told us how they met and reconnected," Angela stood up for her newest friend.

"Fine, whatever," Jessica harrumphed and sat down at her own desk.

Bella glanced at Angela and mouthed, "Thank you." She received a small nod in response. Jessica seemed almost ruthless and Jasper had already told her that she was jealous of Bella; although, the brunette wasn't sure why that would be. However, apparently snagging one of the Cullen boys made any of the girls jealous since they always seemed off limits and turned down everyone within a 100 mile radius, or so she had been told countless times by Jessica. Bella only hoped that her morning flew by so that she could get away from the jealous girl and return to Jasper's side.

Nothing ever seemed to go as planned for Bella. Jasper had been able to escort her from first period to second period and then to third; however, he could not meet her after third to take her to fourth period. He had instructed her to walk with others and he would be there when she got out of class for lunch… and all plans and good intentions got shot to hell the moment she stepped out of her third period class and started walking to fourth period. Realizing she forgot her homework in her locker, she had to break from her entourage and make a detour. As she closed her locker door, she was quickly pulled into a janitor's closet. The icy hand covering her mouth told her it was a vampire since no human had hands that cold, and this caused a panic inside her. Her throat felt tight and she struggled to remain calm enough to break free of the situation; and then when she heard the voice, she tried to scream past the hand in order to alert someone of her whereabouts.

"Shh! I'm not going to hurt you, but you need to stay quiet!" Edward growled in a low voice.

Bella heard those words and instinct finally kicked in as she struggled to free herself from her captor. Her sounds muffled by his hand, she couldn't move much since his body was pinned against her and he held both her hands in one of his above her head. She tried kicking him, anything to break free, but he did not budge, and she honestly knew her struggles were in vain.

Slamming her with a little more force than necessary against the wall to get her to stop fighting, Edward heard her gasp for breath as her head cracked against the wall. He watched her eyes for a moment and inwardly breathed a sigh of relief when she remained conscious. There were things he needed to tell her, to explain, and he couldn't do it if he knocked her out by accident. Pressing himself against her even harder, he gasped at the friction her struggled brought to his lower body, and when he pushed himself against her even more, it was not about subduing her, but about pressing his hardened length against her. This is what Bella did to him, and he wanted her. Before he craved her blood and was intrigued because he could not read her mind, and now as she was forced against the wall, he realized he wanted her body as well. Rubbing himself against her, forcing her to submit to him, this is what he wanted right now. He wanted to plunge his length into her core and satisfy all of the urges that had been haunting him since before he had been turned into a vampire. Maybe once he convinced her that Jasper was not who he claimed to be, Bella would turn her eyes upon him. Now panting in his desire, he struggled to remember what he planned on telling her and instead moaned in her ear.

She could feel his arousal through his jeans, felt how he rubbed against her and grew, and she all she could feel was disgust and revulsion. This is not who Bella wanted to feel against her body, breathing on her neck, or even speaking to her with a desire laced voice. Increasing her struggles, even though it was getting harder to do, she tried to scream again, but her mouth was still covered.

Edward could feel the pleasure in his dick growing as she fought him, accidentally rubbing against him, exciting him further. Knowing he should stop and actually following through with that thought didn't seem possible at the moment even though his time was limited. Any moment now, Jasper could find them because Edward was sure Alice would find the southern vampire and tell him Bella had been taken. He had to move quickly. Forcing himself to stop dry fucking the woman in front of him, snarled, "Stop it!" Was he telling himself or her? He wasn't sure, but he could see the terror in her eyes as she stopped moving and went limp against him. Part of his mind told him that she was now his for the taking and he could easily rip her clothes off of her and fulfill his fantasy, and the other part argued against it because he had to convince her that Jasper was wrong for her, dangerous.

A small whimper escaped her throat as Bella held her eyes tightly shut. She felt scared and mentally screamed out for Jasper to save her, afraid to yell out for her mate. Where was he? Would he come for her? He had to. He said he would always protect her, and she needed him now more than ever.

Hearing the small cry, Edward finally lifted his head from her neck and looked at the face that had haunted his mind for the past week. This girl should belong to him and not his adopted brother, she should want him and him alone, and she should not be mated to Jasper. "Calm down," he whispered. When he believed he was in more control, he told her, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I had to do this. Jasper wouldn't let me near you and you need to know that he is dangerous. You will die if you stay with him. You need to get away from him. I can help you. I can take care of you. He can't be trusted!"

Bella slowly opened her eyes and could see a maniacal gleam in his eye and that scared her more than his actions thus far. That glint meant danger and could mean an unpredictability in his actions. Shaking her head to deny his words, the brunette tried to struggle again, to scream for help through the hand that bound her lips.

If there was ever a time when he wished he could race at vampire speed, it was now. Alice had indeed found Jasper and warned him of what had happened and he had immediately told his teacher that he needed to leave due to an emergency. He wanted to kill Edward right now, to burn his parts and make sure he could never come near Bella again, but first he would have to get there and unfortunately his class was on the other side of campus. Vampire speed might be seen by someone, and therefore could not be risked, but he was running as fast as he could without drawing too much attention. Finally arriving at the closet, he ripped open the door and then threw Edward away from Bella without stopping to assess the situation.

Edward landed against one of the shelving units in the closet before he could stop himself, but was on his feet a moment later and growled, "She doesn't belong with you!"

"She only belongs with me!" Jasper retorted holding Bella close to him. He could feel her shaking as she clung to him tighter than she had ever done before. If he stayed there, it would create a scene, so he needed to get his mate out of there and as far away from Edward as he could; and yet, he had an almost overwhelming urge to stay and deal with the problem quickly. Her small sobs were enough to make him see reason as he warned the other man, "Stay away from her or you will regret it, and don't think you are off the hook for this."

"Afraid she will want me when she realizing what kind of monster you really are? Afraid that if she is away from you too long your influence and gift will wear off?" Edward sneered.

Chuckling, Jasper scoffed, "You know as well as I do that once I am no longer around her, any influence I might be exerting would no longer work, but I don't have to use my gift on her. You though…" He focused a burst of shame towards Edward and it was enough to drop the other man to his knees as he clutched his head and cringed, "You, I don't have any qualms about using my particular gift on." Scooping Bella up in his arms, Jasper carried her away from Edward and away from the building.

When they reached the parking lot, he placed her gently in the back seat and sat down next to her. If she still wanted to go to school, he would give her that option; although it was unlikely that she would want to stick around. Pulling her close, he waited a few minutes until she had stopped crying and then asked gently, "Are you alright darlin'?"

"Yah," Bella squeaked.

"What did he do?" Jasper wanted to know every single reason to rip Edward apart… not that he needed anymore.

The brunette shook her head, "He tried to tell me that you were dangerous and that… that I shouldn't be with you."

He could tell that there was more to the story, but didn't want to press her… still he had to ask, "What else?"

Images of what Edward had done prior to his speech replayed themselves in her mind and she shuddered. Did she dare tell him? She knew he wouldn't blame her, and yet she hesitated.

"Please darlin', what happened?"

"He tried to get me to stop fighting him and threw me against the wall, and then he pressed himself against me and…" her voice tapered off unable to continue.

Jasper could feel the cold, dead rage welling up in him and the only thing preventing him from seeking out the bastard was Bella. She was still shaking and clinging to him, afraid to let go. Feeling her fear and desperation, he had to swallow his own emotions for now; there would be time to deal with Edward later. He held her tightly and whispered comforting words to her, and after a while her quaking seemed to diminish as he heard the school bell ring in the distance signally the end of fifth period. "Do you want to go back to school?" He questioned.

"No, but if I don't go back my dad will be called," came her quiet reply.

"Well, the school nurse is out again this afternoon, so if you want, Carlisle can give you an excuse. Your dad will probably think you are just a little sick from the change of environment or something."

"Yah, and he will tell me that I have to stay in bed and not see you."

"Yah, but you have an open window policy," Jasper joked kissing the top of her head.

Considering what she just went through and the fact that Edward was still in school somewhere, she really did not want to go back to campus at the moment. Finally, she pulled back and looked at her boyfriend, "Can we go to the park?"

"Sure darlin', come on," he said and opened the door so they could both get out of the back and climb into the front. On their way to the park where they reconnected, Jasper called Carlisle and explained the situation to him.

The patriarch agreed to call Charlie and create an excuse for the girl who had captured the southern man's heart. And when Edward arrived back at the house later, Carlisle was also going to have a talk with him. His first son was getting out of hand and it was time the reins were tightened, although he had a feeling it would not work. Apparently common sense and thinking were no longer a part of Edward's repertoire.
