...A Few Day's Later...
-Doctor's Office-
The doctor walked back in with the test results just as she had feared Shelby was pregnant. Rosa grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. Shelby shook her head and sighed damn how could she let this happen. They were using protection and she was using birth control but she missed a few pills and didn't think take the right precautions to make sure she didn't get pregnant. The doctor handed her some paper work before walking out she turned to Rosa with tears in her eyes. "What am I going to do Rosa?... "
"I don't know sweetie... " Rosa shook her head "How are you going to tell Dean?"
"I don't know.." Shelby sighed "What if this ruin's my marriage?"
Rosa shakes her head "Dean loves you Shelby... you know that.." Rosa patted her back. "You can't worry about that.. what's done is done... "
Shelby sighed and nodded she was right there isn't any turning back now she had to tell Dean but she was so worried how he would take it.
-Dean and Shelby's Home-
Dean was on the couch watching a game when Shelby walked in "Hey babe.." Dean smiled throwing the remote to the side of him standing up off the couch.
"Hey.." Shelby tossed her purse to the side.
"So you have a good lunch with Rosa?" Dean questioned walking over to her giving her a kiss.
"It was okay.." Shelby nodded.
"You okay babe?" Dean questions
"Yeah I'm fine.." Shelby sighed and moved around him she wanted to tell him but she just couldn't get the courage to let him know.
Dean raised a brow and grabbed her around swinging her around to face him. "What's going on?... I can tell something's up.." Dean looked her up and down.
Shelby sighed shaking her head. "Dean..." Shelby sighed looking away
"Tell me what's going on... I know something is going on..." Dean said bringing her face back to face him.
Shelby sighed and she could feel the tears forming in her eyes. "I'm sorry.." Shelby said softly as a few tears fall from her eyes.
"Your sorry?... what are you sorry about?" Dean was beyond confused.
"I wasn't at lunch with Rosa... I was at the doctor's office..." Shelby said almost unable to look at him.
"What do you mean?" Dean raised a brow "What's wrong are you sick?... why wouldn't you tell me?... Why would you tell me you were at lunch?"
"Because... I didn't know how to tell you.." Shelby sighed
"Tell me what?" Dean questioned
"I took a home pregnancy test.." Shelby sighed "And I wanted to make sure it wasn't a false positive.. so I got a blood test at the doctors... I didn't want to tell you until I knew for sure.." Shelby's voice becomes shaky.
"Your pregnant?..." Dean dropped his hands from her and stepped back.
Shelby nodded and sighed "Yes.. I'm sorry I thought we were okay we always use protection... but I missed a couple days on my birth control.. but I remembered it and began it again I didn't think it'd make a difference.." Shelby sighed
Dean didn't say a word he just seemed to be staring off into his own world.
"Dean.." Shelby said softly but Dean didn't say a word he just kept staring off in space. "Please talk to me.." Shelby's voice breaks.
Dean shakes his head "I-I need some space.." Dean turns around to the door and starts walking towards the door he turns around to look at Shelby but doesn't say a word just shakes his head then turns around and walks out the door.
Shelby shakes her head and begins to sob as she walks over to her phone and dials a number. "Rosa.. I need you please come.." Shelby sobs into the phone. Rosa agrees and Shelby hangs up the phone.
-Bar-
Roman walked into a bar down town and saw Dean who had texted him and asked him to come out and meet for a beer. Roman knew something was up and Dean needed to talk. "Hey bro.." Roman said patting Dean on the back before sitting down
"Hey.." Dean sighed taking a sip of his beer.
"What's up?... I know you and something is going on.." Roman said after ordering a beer.
"Shelby's pregnant.." Dean took another sip of his beer.
"Wow..." Roman shook his head "You don't seem to happy about it.."
Dean sighed and looked over to Roman "How am I supposed to be?... I'm not the fathering type.." Dean shook his head. "What am I supposed to do with a kid?.."
"Being a father is not bad..." Roman said "I'm a father... JoJo is my life.." Roman added
"But your a great father Roman... " Dean sighed
"It takes a lot but yeah I do all I can to be a good father.." Roman nodded "I was scared out of my mind when I found out I was going to be a father..."
"But you have a great example of a father... I don't... I don't have a good example for father or a mother I'm not a family person... my family is as messed up as they come.." Dean sighed
"But your a great guy... and you love Shelby right?" Roman raised a brow
"Yes.. I do love Shelby more then anything.." Dean nodded
"Then you shouldn't worry about what kind of family life you had... Shelby is an amazing woman... and Dean your a great guy.." Roman said "Your nothing like the family you grew up with.. Shelby is your family now.. "
Dean sighed and nodded.
"I mean it... your family has nothing to do with what kind of a father your going to be..." Roman said "How did you take it when Shelby told you?" Roman asked
Dean sighed "Not to well I don't think... I couldn't think straight all I knew is I needed to get out of there.." Dean said
"So you left your new wife who just told you she was pregnant?" Roman shook his head "What is wrong with you man?"
Dean sighed and shook his head. "What was I supposed to do?"
"I don't know... how about stay with her talk it over..." Roman shook his head "Don't you think she's got to be just as scared as you ... probably more scared because she's actually got to carry this new little life inside her... she's got to be scared out of her mind.. and the one person she should be able to turn to is her husband..."
Dean sighed and looked to Roman "What do I do man?" Dean sighed
"You need to go home and talk to your wife... " Roman said "And you better apologize to her for leaving her like that..."
Dean sighed and nodded.
-Dean and Shelby's Home-
Shelby was sitting on the couch with Rosa who comforting her. "It will be okay...I'm sure Dean is just taken back... that's all.." Rosa said trying to reassure her.
"He probably hates me..." Shelby shook her head "I ruined his life.." Shelby sighed and covered her face with her hands.
"No you didn't don't think about it like that.." Rosa shook her head running her hands through Shelby's hair. Rosa looked up when she heard the door open and saw Dean walking through the door.
"Dean.." Shelby looked up and saw Dean she stood up and Rosa stood behind her.
"Do you mind if me and my wife talk in private?" Dean looked between Rosa and Shelby.
"Sure... I should get going.." Rosa turned and hugged Shelby "Call me if you need me.." Rosa offered a smiled and Shelby nodded. Rosa then walked over to the door and left.
Once Rosa was gone Dean turned to Shelby. Shelby started walking towards him "Dean... I know you probably hate me right now..." Shelby said softly
Dean shook his head and took her hand "I don't hate you... I could never hate you.." Dean sighed and kissed her forehead.
"Then why?... did you leave?" Shelby raised a brow
"I left because I needed to think... I know I shouldn't of left you alone... I wasn't thinking.." Dean sighed
"I didn't mean for this to happen.. " Shelby shook her head "I know you don't want to be a father.."
"It's not that I don't want to Shelby... It's just I don't know how to.." Dean sighed
"I don't know how to be a mother either.." Shelby said looking up at Dean.
"Yeah but you've got a family that someone can actually be proud of.." Dean sighed "I don't have that to learn from.."
"Your not your family... " Shelby said softly "Your a wonderful man Dean... "
Dean shook his head "I don't want to mess this kid up... I don't want our child to grow up to hate me... " Dean sighed "and I don't want to disappoint this child.. or you.. you are my whole world Shelby.."
"You could never disappoint me Dean... I love you.." Shelby brought her hand to his cheek caressing his cheek.
"What if I make a horrible father?" Dean sighed
"Your a wonderful man Dean... and I know you'll be a wonderful father Dean .. " Shelby said softly
"I don't want to let you down Shelby... " Dean sighed
"You won't.. I know you won't." Shelby shook her head "We can't change things now... I guess we are going to learn how to be parents together.."
Dean nodded and wrapped his arms around her "I guess so..." Dean leaned down and kissed her. "As long as we have each other we can handle whatever life throws at us... just like always.." Dean smiled slightly
Shelby nodded and smiled as she buries her head in his chest as she wraps his arms around his midsection. She was happy Dean wasn't angry she just hoped they'd make good parents.
