Revelation
Outside, Hideki was clearly winning the battle. His undead were endless as they continued to fight against the six. He clearly was a powerful guy, but six gifted people who had trump cards versus him? It could be anyone's win, really. Hideki, of course, had no intention of losing this fight so he focused on making the undead more powerful, leaving him weaker than before.
Kurama and Kariya were conversing as they took out more of the zombies.
"Can't you magically make them disappear or something?" Kurama breathed out as he gestured the guns to fire faster.
"Well, yeah. But I don't know if it would be succesful..." Kariya faltered as he chanted another spell to drive the zombies away from him.
"Do your best, then! Everyone's getting exhausted. At this rate, we might not even go though this alive." Kurama said.
Kariya pursed his lips and then brought out a book from his back pocket. The book he always had with was a spell book given to him by the mistress herself. He remembered that he was looking for books in the storage and stumbled upon this. The mistress told him he could have it, with her being indifferent like she always was.
He breathed in and then breathed out. He chanted, "The dead that walk above the ground, they shall be put down!"
With all his might, he used all of his strength on the spell to make it even more succesful. Soon, every zombie sank down to the ground slowly and they stopped moving as well.
Hideki widened his eyes in surprise as he readied himself for any attacks.
Kurumada came up on him, shape-shifted into a predatory animal. He growled and then ran up to Hideki, chewing his arm off but failing miserably. Hideki had such a tough body, so it wasn't a surprise to him. Kurumada continued clawing him and chewing off his limbs. Hideki managed to flake the monster away from him.
Sana was expecting that and used a hammer she constructed to smash him.
Hideki managed to dodge that, but Amemiya appeared in front of him and chucked a fireball at him. Amemiya's hands were on fire right now as he landed a punch on Hideki's face. Hideki landed on the ground with a 'thud' as he realized that he was getting weaker by the minute. He panicked, because he should not be getting weaker... his zombies were already gone and he didn't place his magic on them anymore.
However, it looked like Amemiya knew what was happening. He smirked and said, "My other ability steals your energy and I make use of it myself. In short, while you're getting weaker, I'm getting stronger."
"Why did you only wait now to use that?" Hideki coughed out.
"Because I wanted to see how strong you are. You are strong, but you don't come up with good strategies, huh?" Amemiya said.
Kirino, who was invisible at the moment, lifted the unsuspecting Hideki off his feet and punched him continuously. He reappeared again and stepped back to admire his dirty work. Hideki felt stupid for using all up his magic for the zombies. He did not know that there was someone who could make the zombies vanish.
Amemiya ordered, "Kirino, go take care of Kariya. We got this."
Kirino nodded and walked over to Kariya who was unconscious.
Kurama, Kurumada and Sana stepped besides Amemiya as they glared at Hideki. Hideki was now definitely weak. Sana constructed a mallet and smashed it against him, frustrated at the fact that no one from the other teams were communicating with them. Amemiya chucked multiple fireballs at him and Kurama simply made a gun appear and pulled the trigger.
Even with all that, it was only enough to make him unconscious.
Sana observed, "He must be tough to not get killed with all our attacks."
"Yeah, I couldn't chew his arms off." Kurumada commented.
Sana rolled her eyes at that.
"We should go inside. I'm getting worried that they're not communicating with us." Amemiya said.
Kirino appeared beside them with Kariya at his back. He said, "Let's look for those guys. I think I know where Shindou and the others are."
Kurama said nothing within the conversation and instead was busy putting Hideki on a grocery cart he just summoned. He put him in there, just to make sure Hideki won't be going around.
Tsurugi coughed out blood as the smoke cleared. He wondered how the hell they were alive right now, considering the effects of the bomb around them. The walls were blasted off and they could see the outside. The walls had holes that were missing and everything else just looked horrible as well. He could not imagine what they looked like.
As he stood up, he found Shindou standing with his arms held out.
Tsurugi realized what he just did. He summoned all the sound energy around them and used that to make a shield for everyone. Tsurugi found the others beside him who were covered with dirt, but looked unharmed. Everyone must have passed out from the impact.
Shindou's shield disappeared as he dropped on his knees.
"Thank you," Tsurugi blurted out.
Shindou smiled at him and asked, "Since when did you learn how to say those words?"
Tsurugi rolled his eyes and sighed, "What are we gonna do now? It seems that everyone else already fainted."
"I'll try to use the sound waves to call for Kirino." Shindou said as he struggled on doing that.
"If you can do that, can't you contact the others as well?" Tsurugi asked.
"I can only do this if I know their exact location." Shindou replied.
"Okay, then." Tsurugi said.
After a while, Shindou announced, "They'll be going here. But it should take them a while."
Tsurugi nodded and stared at Nishiki. Their plan was falling apart miserably. He should have expected that there was something like this that would happen, but he tried to remain positive. Now, he felt like he was the reason that this was happening. What if someone got killed out there? It would be Tsurugi's fault and he doesn't really know what to do if that happened.
Shindou said, "Tsurugi, everyone here trusts you. Sure, there had been some problems, but we can find a way. We have to save those girls, right?"
Tsurugi looked at Shindou. He sighed, "And if someone died because of me?"
"Everyone here is prepared to die. This is a rescue mission, it would be normal for someone to die. No one will blame you because we know the consequences of what can happen here." Shindou replied.
"I..." Tsurugi faltered and then asked, "How do you know what to say?"
"Just because." Shindou chuckled.
Soon enough, they heard footsteps coming closer. Shindou and Tsurugi prepared themselves, but relaxed once they saw Kirino and the others as they rounded up the corner.
"Ah, Tsurugi! Shindou!" Sana beamed.
"Damn." Kurumada whistled at the state of the hallway.
Kirino gave Kurama the still-unconscious Kariya and walked towards the others who had fainted. He said, "What happened here? Are they injured badly?"
Shindou shook his head and said, "They probably became unconscious because of the impact of the bomb."
"Then, this would be easy." Kirino said.
"Hey, could you heal Natsumi first?" Tsurugi requested.
"Uh, okay." Kirino replied, surprised at the sudden request. He healed Natsumi, but since it was just minor injuries, she got up instantly.
Tsurugi noticed this and asked Natsumi, "So, do you have any way to contact the others?"
Natsumi groaned because of her headache. She paused, realizing what Tsurugi was saying. She coughed and nodded, "I think I can contact them. Since Kishibe has telepathic powers, maybe I can ask him where they are."
She closed her eyes and focused on finding Kishibe. Her other ability was reading others thoughts just like Kishibe (which was how she blocked his powers when he tried rummaging through her head) but she can also see what the person she picked is seeing. After a few seconds, she heard the familiar voice of Kishibe who was frantically trying to contact everyone. She eased him down and looked through his eyes. There was a large man in front of them, talking. At the back of the man was the seven girls who were in tubes filled in water.
Natsumi opened her eyes and said, "We need to hurry, they might get killed."
Miya thought she was floating on water. That's what she felt right now. She is also kind of light-headed, but she doesn't know why. The last thing she knew was that she was getting swallowed whole by a teenage boy. It was a little weird, but that really was the last thought she had.
Am I dead? she thought.
She tried to open her eyes but she can't, it was like it was sealed shut. Her body also felt heavy so she can't move her arms or legs. She was totally dead. She didn't even say goodbye to her grandmother and she didn't also say goodbye to her new-found friends. She also didn't get to say goodbye to Amemiya... not that she likes him or anything.
For a second, Miya felt a huge boom, but she didn't know where it was happening. And then she heard glasses breaking, but she wasn't sure if she heard right. Another crash from somewhere... it's as if there was an earthquake happening.
And then glasses are breaking again.
Now, Miya could finally breathe. She didn't realize that she wasn't actually breathing until now. She fell to her knees which she can finally feel and then she could now open her eyes. The first thing she did was look down and saw she was naked. With a shriek she covered her private parts and looked around the room.
She saw her friends coughing and also naked.
"Guys!" she shrieked and then walked over to them.
For a moment, she felt something warm just behind her. As if there was a spotlight or something that was directed to her. She turned and found a bright light shining. Was it a star or the sun itself? She didn't really question it further because the light was warm and it made her feel fuzzy inside, as if she was home.
The next moment after was too fast for Miya to comprehend.
The light suddenly went out and everything was pitch black. Lights from the ceiling turned on again and a blonde girl was floating and the guards were melting like they were wax sculptures. A large man with a white coat laid in front of them with a hole on his chest where his heart was supposed to be.
"What... happened?" Miya whispered.
"Oh, Miya-chan!" a voice exclaimed behind her. She turned and found Kei running towards her.
"Um, Kei, everyone's kind of naked right now..." Miya chuckled.
Saru appeared behind Kei and tossed Miya a white coat. He grunted, "Wear this for the meantime."
"Thanks." Miya said and quickly put on the white lab coat.
Kei smiled and then said, "We should probably go now, the other girls are awake but some aren't. Also, the mistress was intent on telling us to get out."
"The mistress? The blonde girl is the mistress?" Miya asked, surprised.
"Yep. Let's hurry." Kei said and dragged Miya.
Amaterasu knew that releasing her powers would cause utter chaos, but as long as they were safe and no civilians were near her... she didn't mind to be like this. Whenever she released her powers, she felt invincible and she also loses control of herself. Her powers were simple: she had telekinesis and, whenever she released bright light from her hands, people that she wanted to be healed will be healed and people she wanted gone will melt away as if they were wax.
Times like this made her realize than joining the Family was a mistake she made.
Her bare feet touched the ground as she looked around the place. The guards were already melted and Dr. Jinomji was murdered because she had used her telekinesis to get his heart. This meant that she was a traitor and probably won't be allowed in the Family ever again. It could mean her death, but the Head always had such a soft spot for her.
She walked, the glass shards that she was stepping on seemed nothing.
Amaterasu stopped and screamed. Light emitted from her and everything in the room started to shake and float up. A single tear dropped from her eye because of the pain. This was probably due to the fact she wasn't stabilizing frequently. The Head had taken her kimono as punishment. It was also a threat that when she would use her powers, she would feel immense pain. She coughed out blood and dropped to her knees.
"Hey, come on, let's get out of here," a voice said.
Amaterasu looked up and found Miya stretching a hand out.
With a small smile, Amaterasu gratefully accepted it.
Saru, Yukimura, Ibuki and Kishibe walked with Kairi, Ai, Kari and Ru on their backs.
Eri asked, "Why aren't they waking up?"
"Well, maybe they just fainted from shock?" Kei suggested.
Sato perked up as she pointed at a spot on Ai's arm. She said, "They all got injected at their arm. That prick must have tested it out first on them."
"Well, why not us?" Miya asked from behind as she helped Amaterasu on walking.
Eri said, "Must be because they had no time or maybe no supply left."
Kishibe tightened his grip on Ru as they walked. He was getting worried for Ru because of whatever those guys put on her. He noticed that Ibuki also had a worried look pass over his face as he walked with Kari behind him.
Kishibe whispered as the others talked for theories, "Worried for her?"
Ibuki gritted, "You know I can't lie to you."
Kishibe chuckled and said, "I hope they get better."
"They should." Ibuki grumbled.
Footsteps echoed and were getting louder and louder. Kei hushed everyone and posed just in case they were more guards. When Natsumi and the others appeared, Kei relaxed and gave everyone a grin.
Natsumi put her hands on Amaterasu's cheeks as the others talked. She closed her eyes and used her powers to calm Amaterasu down and hopefully lessen the pain she was feeling. Amaterasu always had an emotionless face, that's why no one could see through her. Amaterasu was actually a very weak person and hated people leaving her. That's why her favor to Natsumi was to help her subordinates find the girls. It might as well be her very last order because Natsumi was sure the Family would destroy the house and their little organization.
After a while, Amaterasu spoke, "That's enough, Natsumi."
Natsumi stopped and walked back.
Miya said, "Thank you for saving us, mistress."
Amaterasu let out a dry chuckle as she walked out of Miya's grip. She commented, "I just happened to be passing by."
Her subordinates started kneeling before her, leaving Miya, Sato, Eri and the four boys standing.
Amemiya spoke, "Thank you for saving the girls."
"Thank you for your help," Shindou stated.
Amaterasu stiffened and then said, "You shouldn't be thanking me. After all, I was the one who started all of this."
"You mean the Family did. That's one thing I wanted to ask, why did you join the Family in the first place?" Tsurugi asked sharply.
"I don't think this is a good place to explain everything." Amaterasu said.
Natsumi nodded and explained, "The police and the Family might get here. I can make a portal right now."
Amaterasu said, "Great. Now, stand up. You have no more reason to treat me like your boss anymore."
"Mistress..." a few whispered.
Natsumi made a portal and gestured everyone to go inside.
They were back inside the house and the guys immediately placed the unconscious girls in the nursery. Almost everyone went to the nursery except Tsurugi and his boys and Amaterasu. They (mostly Tsurugi) wanted answers.
"Are you planning on answering our question?" Tsurugi asked impatiently.
Amaterasu sighed and then explained, "I witnessed one of them doing supernatural things. Of course, naturally, I was jealous and wanted to have powers like that. It seemed that the guy who I witnessed was part of the Family and he noticed me. He was going to kill me for sneaking up on him, but I pleaded that I would do anything as long as he didn't kill me."
She breathed in and then continued, "He accepted and abducted me. He put me in the family as one of the experiments. The Family wanted to make non-magical people and let them become gifted. I was a failed experiment, but I managed to live instead of dying like the rest of the failed experiments. So, they made me a deal. I could keep these powers but they had to stabilize me. However, I had to serve them and do their orders without question."
"What happens when you don't stabilize?" Kurumada asked.
"Whenever I use my powers, I would be in pain." Amaterasu said.
Nishiki furrowed his eyebrows and said, "Then when you used your powers to save the girls..."
"I had to deal with the pain." Amaterasu replied.
"That's..." Nishiki whispered.
Kurama stared at the mistress and asked, "Could you help them once again and make them wake up?"
Amaterasu flinched as the three other boys glared at Kurama.
"What?" Kurama asked.
"She just said that she would be in great pain if she used her powers, dumbass!" Kurumada exclaimed.
Nishiki nodded and added, "That's an insensitive thing to say!"
Amaterasu sighed and said, "I can but I just need rest first."
Tsurugi looked at her and muttered, "Thanks."
Amaterasu chuckled for real this time, "Did you just thank me?"
Tsurugi grumbled and walked out of the room.
"Did you see that? Tsurugi just blushed!" Kurama whispered.
Nishiki gasped, "That's impossible!"
Kurumada also exclaimed, "A miracle has happened! He thanked a person, too!"
The sunset over the horizon never looked more beautiful. Not everything is solved, yes, but as long as everyone was safe... Amaterasu was just simply glad for that.
Hey!
So, five more chapters left!
Anyway, I will (and fail) try to make the update earlier this time.
Um, reviews please? :D
