Enjoy!
Chapter 36 – Animalistic Nature
It happened a week after Bella awoke to her new life. Lying in bed after another round of love making with her mate, she laid her head on his chest running her hand up and down his abdomen, feeling the hills and valleys of his muscles, relishing in the fact that everything she touched was hers. This man that had entered her life twice… this was the man she was going to get to spend eternity with, and it really would be an eternity together now that she had been initiated into the world of vampires. Would life be easy going forward? Probably not, but as long as Jasper was there, she felt like she could take on the world and win.
Breathing in his scent, she took a deep breath and jolted up. Something else tickled her nose and it was not her mate. This new smell ignited her thirst instead of her passion and she wanted to smell more. She had never experienced this scent. Her throat burned, her scenes were sent into overdrive, and she practically drooled at how enticing this scent was.
"Bella?" Jasper tried to get his mate to focus on him, but she seemed lost to her animal side. The moment she jumped up, he took in a deep breath and knew exactly what she had smelled: humans. There were at least two of them and they weren't supposed to be anywhere near this part of the woods, which meant they were probably poachers who decided to trespass in order to hunt down a free meal without the Mounties knowing about it.
She was off of him and to the door before he could stop her. Running after her, Jasper didn't care that they were both naked as the day they were born. He had to get to her before she got to the humans. The only problem, well not the only one; the current problem was, with her newborn strength, she was stronger and faster than him, and this was probably the only day he would ever wish he had Edward's gift of speed. "Bella!" He kept calling her name in the hopes he could get through to her. He knew if she got to the humans and killed them, she would hate herself when she finally came to, and he couldn't allow that to happen. Not to her. No matter what, he would protect her, even from herself. "SHIT!"
Hightailing it after the streaking female was not exactly easy, but he was able to keep her insight. One of the things that saved him was the fact she was still a newborn and getting used to everything. She had overshot the humans, however, it wasn't by much. Taking a sharp right, he thought to cut her off before she got to her target, and if he had been just a little bit faster, he would have caught more than just a couple wisps of her hair. Without stopping, he continued his pursuit and although he couldn't overtake her, he was able to grab her and throw her to the ground when she suddenly stopped. He needed to take control of the situation before she could take off again. He would think about why she stopped when she did later.
"I smelled humans?" Bella choked out, her voice laced with confusion, and her feeling betraying the same emotion.
"Yah. Yah, it was humans," Jasper crooned, rubbing her back in an attempt to soothe her.
"I could have killed…" Hiccoughing, she couldn't go on.
"Shh. Listen to me darlin'. You wouldn't have killed anyone. You stopped before you could. You didn't want to kill them and you stopped. Remember that."
"I saw them in those trees over there and when I realized that I was smelling humans, I was… so shocked that I froze."
Getting off of her and lifting her into his arms, Jasper spoke to her calmly and quietly, "First let's get you out of here and get you fed. You're gonna want somethin' after that. Then we can deal with the rest of it." As soon as he received her nod, he took off in the opposite direction of the human stench. He ran to the opposite side of his property and only stopped when he knew she would no longer be able to smell the poachers again. Although, truth be told, it would have served them right for poaching on his lands. Setting her down gently, her body rubbed his as her legs slid to the ground, and he probably would have taken her right then and there if it weren't for the fact, she needed feed and there were deer about a mile away. It was rough reminding himself that her thirst came first, and the emotions and pheromones that she was exuding did not help matters at all. "Focus Bella. We'll get y'all fed and then camp out here for a spell." Unsure if he was saying that for her sake or his, he turned her in the direction of the herd.
Just as Jasper was having problems focusing, Bella was as well. She wanted to feed just as much as she wanted him. The two needs were at war within her, but pulling in the crisp air into her lungs, she could smell the deer and her desire to rut with her mate was tempered. She needed to hunt and sate her thirst before anything else. That became first and foremost and just as she had done when she smelled the humans, she darted off, running through the trees towards her prey. The deer never saw her coming and she took down a large buck before it could get away while the rest of the herd scattered.
Jasper was able to catch a doe before the herd completely got away, and that was all it took to fill him up, but he didn't need to feed as often as his mate. He watched her as fed, nary a drop escaping her lips. She was exquisite. Her whole being captivated him and bewitched him. Long ago, he could remember asking his mother about finding the right girl, and she had responded with, "When you meet her, you'll know. She will become your whole world. Her flaws will enhance her beauty, and when she does things that would normally irritate the snot out of you, you won't care because that is part of who she is. It'll be more than just wantin' to protect her; it'll be wantin' to stand beside her, never wantin' to see her hurt or cry or frustrated. You'll know it in your gut." And his mom had been right. If he remembered correctly, she always had been. He may not remember everything of his family, but what he did recall, he held close like a cherished treasure.
When they were done hunting, Bella tackled her mate to the ground and attacked his lips with her own. She could taste the remnants of blood on his tongue and she was sure he could do the same with hers. This went beyond desire and urges. She needed him to take her and fill her with his essence, to become one with her. And since they weren't wearing clothes to begin with, it made things progress that much faster. The moment he entered her, she felt whole and moaned in ecstasy.
He didn't need to feel to see if she was wet and ready for him to take her, he could smell her musk of desire. Spearing her quickly, he pushed himself to the hilt and paused savoring the moist heat that surrounded him. This was his mate, his partner, and the woman he would love for the rest of his life. Pulling out, he pushed back in quickly. Now was not the time to take it nice and slow. They were both wracked with a desire that needed to be sated and sated now.
Every time he pulled out, he only left the tip in and then he slammed into her again and again. Bella thought she would go mad with lust and pleasure. Had it ever felt so carnal before? She didn't think so, and yet, each time they had made love had been one of the best experiences of her life. When he pumped in, his cock rubbed her insides and created a spark sending her hurdling towards her climax. Even if she wanted to slow it down and hold off the impending explosion, she couldn't. And when she finally fell over the precipice, she screamed his name, "JW!"
He wasn't finished with her yet. Pulling his throbbing member out of her, he flipped her over so that she was on her hands and knees and he entered her again from behind, touching even deeper than before. In and out, harder and faster. He reached in front of her and pinched her clit causing her to scream in rapture, holding off his one climax so that he could wring one more out of her before he came.
After the intense orgasm that she just had, Bella didn't think she could have another one. She had been wrong. The moment Jasper flipped her over and started pushing into her from behind, she could already feel the sparks and the climax building; and then he pinched her clit and she rushed forward to the edge, not yet jumping over the cliff though. One… two… more thrusts, another pinch on her clit, and she was pushed over, her body wracked with tremors. She could feel him grow within her and then a rush of fluid, prolonging her orgasm. If she was still human, she would have fallen asleep in a boneless heap, but she wasn't and instead savored the rush and emotions that came after sex with her mate. She fell to the ground and turned so that her head rested under his chin.
Never before had sex been so intense, so satisfying as it was with Bella. He felt sated and exhausted and he could stay there in the middle of the forest with her for the rest of his life. They didn't need clothes. They could be the next Adam and Eve. They had plenty of food, and when they did want a roof over their heads, well that's what the cabin was for. Still, reality is never that wonderful. They did have to leave the sanctity of the forest and leave their haven at some point in time. James and Edward were still out there and still on a mission to take Bella, and he would not leave the Cullen coven to handle them alone. No, they had to return, and he had to tell Carlisle about what happened today. After she had stopped instead of pursing the poachers, he wondered if she would actually be alright around people. It was too soon to tell, but she wasn't exactly a normal newborn either. It befuddled him, made him envious, and through all that, he also felt pride because she was his mate.
"What are you thinking about JW?" Bella asked as her hand started to rub his belly again.
Smiling, Jasper caught her moving hand. He didn't think she realized she did that almost every time they cuddled after sex. Lifting her hand to his lips, he kissed it. "I was just thinkin' about the future and how lucky I am to have you here."
"Me too." It was quiet for a moment before she asked, "When do we have to go back?"
"I don't quite know yet darlin'. I need to call Carlisle again and then we can plan from there."
"What if… what if Edward and James…"
He interrupted her by placing a finger on her lips, "We will take care of them and they will not lay a finger on you or Alice. I'm gonna protect you."
"I just don't want anyone getting hurt."
"I know darlin', and you have nothin' to worry about. We will all come out of this alive. I can't promise the same thing for Edward and James though." He could see and feel her concern and he pulled her closer, "We are all going to get through this and then we can go where ever you want. Do whatever you want to do."
"We can?"
"The world is your oyster and I am yours to command… or it's somethin' like that."
Snickering, Bella stretched and sealed his lips with hers. They still had a ways to go before this whole ordeal ended, but she would trust in his words. And as they kissed, she straddled him and sank onto his length. This was their time and they would worry about everything else later.
On the reservation…
"So there really is a way to break the bond?" Billy asked Sam. The elders had been called together as soon as the alpha had learned how Paul broke his mental connection with the pack.
Nodding, the leader stated, "Yes. Old Hank showed him how."
"And that is why we are meeting in secret without him," Sue Clearwater said, the confusion starting to clear.
"Yes. I couldn't take the chance."
Billy looked at the others and then turned to the pack leader, "There had been rumors when the Cullen's were here the first time that sometimes Hank couldn't be heard by the others, but no one thought about it too much. He didn't agree with the treaty and hated all cold ones, but about a decade before the Cullen's came, his mother was killed by a vampire and he still holds a grudge. He said they were all evil and fooling us. It looks as if Paul wandered down the same path."
"I can't trust Paul. He could go off on his own again and this time someone could get killed."
"And what of my son?" The man in the wheelchair had known Jacob was taking this change and the news about Bella hard, and he wasn't one to interfere in the pack, but he also didn't think Jacob needed to be locked up any longer.
"He came out two days ago and has been staying at my house. He has learned to control his change and his temper still flares sometimes, but he has been able to maintain control for the most part. He will start on patrols tonight. I'll know if he goes after the Cullen's."
This was progress and Billy felt relieved, "Good." Losing his wife had been devastating, and seeing his son locked up like a caged animal had been just as hard.
"What are we going to do about Hank and Paul?" Old Quill spoke up.
That was the question. Hank was in his seventies and not in the best of health, and Paul was a young man and couldn't be locked up forever. However, neither could be trusted. Hank was easier. Since he was old and couldn't go on patrols, he would be removed from the council of elders. Paul's case was more difficult. They could banish him, but since he could shift, that would be like sending him out into the world with a loaded gun. Dangerous! They had to come up with something, however, no one had a clue as to what they should or could do. Top that off with the fact they still had some rouge vampires, and everything just got more difficult and convoluted because the wolves needed all the help they could get.
As was his nature, Old Quill would listen and think about the entire situation and there was a way out of this mess if the others were willing to agree, although it was a bit rebellious and went against almost all of their principles, "There is one solution we could think about." As soon as all eyes turned on him, he announced, "We could make a deal with the Cullen's."
