What's in the Air Tonight?
Natsumi watched the boys frantically hovering over the girls. Kirino was doing his best to heal the four girls and the other injured boys, but he can't just do it alone, can he? Natsumi felt a twinge of pity for Kirino who was probably tired by now.
Sana shouted at the panicking boys, "Guys! Let Kirino do this! He's very tired and your constant shouting isn't helping! Go wait outside!"
With a few mutters, the boys walked out of the room. Natsumi joined them outside.
Kirino gave Sana a crooked grin, "Thanks."
"No problem." Sana smiled back, feeling something fluttering in her gut.
"Truth is, Sana, I don't think my healing is working on them. They're not really hurt anywhere. Probably, if they want to wake up, they have to do it in their own. I can't do anything to help them." Kirino said with his eyebrows furrowed.
Sana frowned and touched Kirino's arm. She whispered encouragingly, "I think you did your best, Ranmaru-kun."
The glow from Kirino's hands disappeared. He grumbled, "I feel like I'm not helping them in any way."
"Well, they'll wake up. I'm sure of it." Sana said.
"I hope so." Kirino said as he stared at Kairi, Ai, Kari and Ru.
"Hey, don't be so glum." Sana chuckled and said on a serious note, "These girls are tough. Whatever was put inside their body would be probably gone by now."
Kirino stared at Sana a while longer before he hugged her.
"W-wha? R-ranmaru?" Sana squeaked out, her face red and her body stiffening.
"Ssh." Kirino muttered, "I just wanted to thank you."
"By hugging me?" Sana asked and exclaimed, "You could have just said it!"
Kirino smiled and broke off the hug. He stared at Sana's eyes and told her, "Thank you."
Sana coughed to try and get rid off the red on her face but with no avail. Kirino looked at her curiously before speaking up again, "Why is your face red, Sana? Do you have a fever or something? You should rest for a while-"
Kirino was cut off by Sana. She said, "No, no... this is because..."
"Because of what?" Kirino asked.
Sana stammered, "N-nothing! Maybe it's just the change of weather or something..."
Kirino sighed and asked, "Are you, perhaps, in a relationship already, Sana?"
"W-what? Of course not!" Sana said, her composure becoming relax now. She asks, "Why do you ask that?"
"Well, you became stiff when I hugged you and then you were acting like you didn't want me to hug you. I thought maybe you already had a boyfriend or something." Kirino replied with an air of sadness.
"I'm not taken." Sana said and chuckled nervously, "I mean, who would like a person like me? Someone who can create anything from solid objects..."
Kirino said seriously, "I do, Sana."
Sana blushed and stammered, "W-what did you just say?"
Kirino coughed and said, "I meant that everyone loves you here, so you shouldn't think bad about yourself."
Sana smiled and said, "Thank you, Ranmaru."
"So... do you have a crush around here? You seem to be stiff around me..." Kirino trailed off.
Sana shook her head and said, "No. It's just that... I get nervous around you, Ranmaru."
"What do you mean?" Kirino asked.
"B-because the person I like is really... you." Sana said and bowed her head in embarrassment.
Kirino widened his eyes and then laughed, "Really?"
"Oh, don't be so smug about it... I know you don't like me as I like you..." Sana said.
Kirino cupped Sana's cheeks and turned her head to face him. He smiled, "Well, it's funny because I feel the same way."
And their lips met.
Their kiss wasn't anything like Sana imagined- it was definitely better.
"Oh, so you kicked us out so you could fuck? I'll admit that's very impressive of you, Kirino." Sana heard Kariya from the front door.
Kirino flipped him off as Sana broke the kiss out of embarrassment.
Kei walked to the front yard of the house. She stared up at the house and felt that this would be the last time that she would be seeing it. It was probably just some wild guess, but she can't help but feel that something bad will happen to it.
"Hey, one-ear rabbit." Saru greeted her as he walked outside.
"Saru." Kei greeted back and turned her attention to him.
"So, what are you doing out here?" Saru asked.
"I'd prefer to be somewhere quiet..." Kei trailed off.
"And somewhere you won't get disturbed?" Saru mused.
"Well, yes." Kei giggled.
"I wonder why. Then again... I remembered that you hated kids disturbing you and you'd fight them." Saru laughed heartily.
Kei frowned and looked down. She hated that topic, so she asked, "Can we not talk about that?"
"Talk about what? That you suddenly disappeared and those weak guys you protected was once again bullied?" Saru asked, not even missing a beat.
"What do you care, Saru?" Kei gritted out.
Saru stared at her and continued, "Maybe it's because no one protected the bullied kids anymore, I suppose. You hid your fighting skills, but you were much more powerful than any of us in hand-to-hand. I wondered why you even joined here in the first place..."
Kei glared at him and said, "Saru. Drop it."
"No, I won't. At that time when we were captured... you could have used your powers and got out of there-" Saru was cut off with a slap on his face. The slap blew him away and he landed a few feet from where he was standing.
Kei broke down and muttered, "I hate fighting..."
Saru stood up as Kei cried. He sighed and put his hands around Kei. Her head rested on his chest as Saru muttered, "Sorry, but I had to know why you didn't- or couldn't save us when we were captured..."
"I joined Amaterasu because she said I could help the others that had powers but had no idea how to control them..." Kei admitted. She continued, "I can't bear fighting anymore. Those boys were hurt because of me... no matter what people say. Their parents were right to blame me for getting them hospitalized..."
"Those boys were cowards. That's not your fault." Saru said.
Kei sobbed as she remembered the words of the parents to her.
"Sorry for making you cry." Saru whispered.
"I'm s-" Kei was cut off by Saru this time.
"Don't say sorry. It was my fault. I also have to admit you look quite cute when you cry." Saru chuckled.
Kei looked up at him and planted a kiss on his lips. With Saru blushing red, Kei giggled at his face as she whispered, "Bakazaru."
Although she had pink cheeks as well.
"Saru, Kei...? SARU, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY SISTER?" the two heard Fei exclaim.
Kei giggled once again as Saru was hit by Fei. Because of that, the nagging feeling inside her was gone. Maybe she was just over-thinking it. There was no way that something bad would happen. Everything looked perfect right now.
Yuu blankly stared at her hands. She was exhausted with all the illusions she had been doing lately. Not to be mean or anything, but after their raid to the facility, she couldn't help but feel that their mission was a failure. Sure they befriended Amaterasu again and they saved the girls. But most of the girls were unconscious and only a miracle would probably save them.
"Why do you look so angry?" a voice startled her out of her thoughts.
Of course, it was Shuu. She almost couldn't get through a day without him showing up next to her. Not that Yuu minded. Secretly, she actually liked Shuu's company. The atmosphere actually felt lighter when he was around her, Yuu would admit- but not out loud.
"I don't." Yuu replied, her face stoic.
Shuu chuckled and sat on next to her. They were in the roof, where Yuu found herself comfortable in. It was in the late afternoon, so the sun was about to set and it didn't feel as hot. Yuu was waiting for the night sky so she could see the stars.
"How did you know I was here?" Yuu asked.
Shuu shrugged and replied, "Just a feeling, I guess."
Yuu looked at him and saw he was already staring at her. He gave her a grin and Yuu turned away, a blush creeping up on her cheeks.
"So, you're just gonna wait until it's nighttime?" Shuu asked.
"Yes." Yuu replied.
Silence loomed over them. The two didn't mind, the silence wasn't awkward at all. It was, dare Yuu say it, comfortable in a way. She loved the feeling that he was just sitting there next to him, like Shuu was going to protect her. It finally dawned to Yuu what uncharacteristically thoughts she was having and shook her head to somehow push those thoughts away.
"Aren't you cold?" Shuu asked.
Yuu snapped to him and replied, "No. Why would I be?"
"Well, it's cold outside and you don't have a jacket..." Shuu chuckled as he trailed off. He commented, "I guess you don't get cold easily, huh?"
Yuu looked at him and took off her cap, revealing the violet headband she would always wear. She said, "It isn't that cold here."
"You look better without your cap." Shuu admitted.
"What?" Yuu asked, even though she heard him the first place. She tried to ignore the fluttering of her stomach.
Shuu repeated, "You look better without your cap, I said."
"Oh." Yuu said, fighting off another blush that was coming again.
"Can't you at least blush?" Shuu asked.
"Sorry, I don't do emotions." Yuu replied.
Shuu cracked a grin and said, "I wished you showed more emotions often."
"...I can't, I guess. Even the other kids in Sun Garden think I'm creepy because of this." Yuu said.
"I don't think you're creepy just because you don't show emotions. I think... it's just unsettling because I can't read your thoughts." Shuu said.
"You don't need to read my thoughts." Yuu said.
Shuu inhaled and then exhaled. He said, "I do because I want to see if your like me or not."
Yuu narrowed her eyes and asked, "What do you mean by like?"
"You know, like- like, like me." Shuu said.
"I don't know what that means, Shuu." Yuu said.
"Like romantically."
Her stomach fluttered again, her heart beat quickened its pace like it was running a marathon and there was a pink tint on her cheeks. Coughing and praying that he didn't notice that, she asked, "Why do you need to know that?"
"Because I like you romantically." Shuu said smoothly, but Yuu could trace the hint of nervousness on his tone.
Yuu didn't reply and simply stared at the sky.
"So... do you like me back?" Shuu asked as he stared at her beautiful face.
Yuu said, "I don't know about emotions, Shuu."
She looked back at him and muttered, "But maybe I do like you that way."
Shuu was shocked at that as Yuu turned away to look anything besides him. Yuu was sure she was blushing now, but she did her best to fight that because she didn't want to get teased at by Shuu.
He grabbed her face and planted a small kiss on her lips.
And Yuu couldn't stop the blush that appeared on her cheeks.
Shuu grinned, "So you do blush!"
Eri was uncomfortable as hell. She wondered why she was even here in the first place. Shindou seemed a nice guy- he really was, but she hadn't expected his house to be a mansion. Natsumi had said that it would be better if Sato, Eri and Miya would be accompanied with them to their own houses and explain why they were away without any connection.
Since Eri lived alone, Natsumi wasn't taking any chances. So, she was stuck with Shindou in his house for the rest of the night until they make sure that the Jinomji Family was not going to hurt them anymore. Eri complained that Shindou was supposed to guard her the time she got captured but Shindou retaliated that it was her fault in the first place for helping the boy that turned out to be a robot.
How could she not help the boy that was being bullied? She hated bullies and she was not one to turn blind if she sees a bigger guy pick on smaller fries. Bullies were so infuriating because they thought they could do anything just because they were stronger.
Right now, Eri was sitting on a couch of Shindou's 'living room'. The living room was bigger than whole apartment and her apartment complex was half of the mansion itself. Sure, she heard Shindou was rich but she didn't imagined his 'house' would be like this!
"Are you alright, Kurokawa?" Shindou asked as he entered the living room with tea on the tray he was holding.
Eri scowled, "I'm fine."
"You don't look like it." Shindou chuckled as he put down the tray.
There were biscuits, a teapot which was steaming and some tea cups on the tray. Eri decided to at least pour herself some tea so she could do something. She was afraid of even walking here because she knew a dirty little runt like her didn't deserve to be in this big-ass mansion. Also, she didn't trust the staff of this place because they were all giving her dirty looks.
"So, what are you thinking about?" Shindou asked as he sat next to her.
She finished pouring her tea and took a sip. Eri replied, "This is a big house you have."
Shindou chuckled and said, "Not the reaction I was expecting. But, thank you, I guess."
"It wasn't a compliment," Eri scowled.
Shindou smiled and replied, "Okay."
Eri put down her tea and muttered, "I'll be fine on my own in my apartment."
"Natsumi insisted you sleep here. I'm sure that you'll be safer here than in your apartment. There are cameras everywhere and the guards would hear if there are any suspicious sounds." Shindou said.
"Still, I'd feel more comfortable if I was back there. This is... too much for me to handle." Eri sighed.
"Is there anything I can do to help you be more comfortable here?" Shindou asked.
Eri shook her head. Even if everyone was saying this was a safe place, Eri didn't trust Shindou and his staff. Really, for all they know they could be criminals who earned money by selling girls like her. Seriously, Eri was getting chills in this place.
Shindou seemed to notice her discomfort as she sipped her tea. He asked, "Can you at least tell me what would calm you down?"
Eri glared at him and whispered, "If your maids could stop giving me dirty looks, it would be pretty much appreciated."
Shindou chuckled and whispered back, "They just don't trust people that I bring over. I remember one time when I brought a friend over and he stole some of my stuff. He got apprehended and I made sure he wouldn't be able to use his hands again."
Eri looked at him in shock. Who knew this guy was also capable of hurting another person? And then Eri seemed to realize how close they really were as she felt his breath fanning over his face. It was hard not to get lost in his dark brown eyes. Realizing her thoughts, she willed herself to pull away and ignore the fluttering that was coming from her stomach.
Shindou raised an eyebrow at her but let it go. He asked, "You like reading, right?"
"Sure." Eri replied curtly. She was angry at herself for being so vulnerable at that moment.
"Oh and... head maid, you are dismissed. You need to get some rest. Tell that to the others." Shindou called.
The 'head maid' seemed to be reluctant. She said. "But, sir-"
"It's fine." Shindou insisted.
The head maid had no choice but to follow his instructions. Soon, it was just the two of them... and it was not good for Eri's nerves. She became even more convinced that Shindou was a criminal who was going to sell her body or worse- rape her. The thought of her kissing Shindou was, well, unimaginable. Regardless, it made Eri's throat red.
"What's wrong? You look scared." Shindou pointed out.
Eri glared at him and seethed, "I do not get scared."
Shindou nodded and said, "Okay. Sorry, then."
But Eri still was stiff and tense as ever as she sipped her tea.
Sighing, Shindou was exasperated. Did she really not trust him that much? What did she think he was going to do? He felt hurt because Eri didn't trust him that well. It was expected, though, as he remembered the past times he hung out with her. Eri, though, had a right not to trust him as she didn't really know him that well and that she grew up thinking that not everyone should be trusted.
"You know, Kurokawa, I just realized that I know some of your past and you don't know me at all." Shindou said.
Eri scowled, "What's your point?"
Shindou stated, "My parents are musicians and I can play the piano. In fact, besides soccer, my hobby is playing the piano. I think I can relate to you about my family not being there for me. They're always away and I was kind of raised by the maids here."
Eri didn't know why he was suddenly acting like this. Eri asked, "What's with the back story?"
"Since you obviously haven't relaxed yet, can you at least tell me if there's anything I can do to make you feel comfortable here and trust me even for just a tiny bit?" Shindou asked.
Eri paused and then saw he really was sincere. He wanted her to relax and see that he wasn't bad as she thought. He wanted her to... trust her. No one else was that desperate to earn her trust. She replied, "You said you played the piano, right? Play for me."
Shindou looked at her and walked over to the piano at the middle of the room.
It was silent for a minute and then Shindou pressed the keys. Eri found the song enchanting and how he played the instrument was natural- like it was just breathing for him. And then she find herself getting attracted to Shindou. Seriously, he was looking more handsome than he was before and it turned her on.
After hitting the last note, Shindou took a glance at her and saw that she looked dazed. At the sight of her shoulders relaxing, Shindou managed to smile. He was glad he at least made her relax... hopefully, this meant she trust him more.
He walked over to her and sat next to her.
Eri stiffened. She was being vulnerable again and the thought of Shindou so close to her was driving her mad. She stood up immediately, leaving Shindou confused at her actions. She managed to growl, "Don't come near me."
Shindou looked frustrated as he stood up. "Why? Can't you trust me even a little? Kurokawa, seriously, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just don't go near." Eri said. She needed to be a few meters away from him. She needed to calm down because goddamn did he look kissable at the moment. She can't admit it out loud that he was fucking attractive to her.
"Kurokawa." Shindou pressed and walked towards her.
Eri just walked back slowly, away from Shindou... until she bumped into a wall. Before she could turn, Shindou trapped her with his arms as he asked again, "Why are you being like this? I'm doing my best to at least get close to you..."
Eri gulped. Their faces were so close right now.
"Hey, answer me." Shindou said as he stared into her eyes.
"I..." Eri started and zipped her mouth. What was she doing? What was she gonna say?
"You what?" Shindou asked.
"Nothing. Forget I said that." Eri said.
"Kurokawa, you are the most infuriating person I have ever met. I can't stand knowing that you can't relax around me. Just when I thought I finally got you to do that, you turn me away. Why?" Shindou sounded exasperated.
Eri didn't speak.
Shindou stared at her with his eyes flaring. Eri never saw him get angry like this before. He never got angry... this was probably the first time Shindou was staring daggers at someone. Still, she didn't speak.
"You know, I am offended and hurt that the girl I like doesn't trust me." Shindou said.
"Like?" Eri harshly said.
Shindou nodded and Eri saw sincere in his eyes again.
Eri finally gave up and admitted with a blush on her cheeks, "I thought you looked attractive while paying the piano."
Shindou stared at her with disbelief and asked, "That's why you're tense?"
"No... I just refused to acknowledge that I may have a crush on you." Eri huffed.
They stared at each other for a while before his lips came crashing down to hers. Eri widened her eyes because this was her fucking first kiss. She wanted to shout at Shindou for taking that. She felt hot and her lips were catching fire and... it felt really good.
After breaking the kiss, Shindou murmured, "Was it that hard to admit that you may like me even just a little?"
Eri turned away and blushed with Shindou grinning like there's no tomorrow.
Sato's siblings knew Yukimura but the last time they saw him was years ago. Sato was all against this idea of Yukimura coming with her to her house because her siblings would tease her again, something she really did not want. Most of all, she did not want Yukimura to come over because he would see that her siblings were better than her- that she had such little talent, that she was the embarrassment of their family.
"Why don't you want me inside your house?" Yukimura asked.
"N-nothing!" Sato defended. It's just that I don't want you to think that I'm a disappointment and my family is too good for me, she bitterly thought. She quickly explained, "My siblings would probably flock over you and all."
Yukimura grinned, "I don't mind if it's your siblings."
The comment was supposed to fluster her and Yukimura expected that. He wasn't expecting to see Sato void of any emotion as if the comment had no effect on her. That was frustrating for Yukimura. He liked the way she blushed and savored it because Sato often never blushes. Yukimura would feel his heart thumping faster and his blood boiling whenever she blushed.
Finally, they reached their house.
Sato said, "You can go now!"
Yukimura furrowed his eyebrows. "What? No. You might get kidnapped again or something."
"I won't! My siblings are here." Sato said.
"See, that's another problem. If there are men that will capture you, they would obviously protect you. Since they don't have any powers, they would get hurt badly." Yukimura said.
"Still no!" Sato said hotly.
"Why don't you want to let me in your house?!" Yukimura exclaimed, exasperated.
The door opened and out came three siblings. Yukimura mused how they were all bigger now. Yukio, as he remembered when they were younger, was definitely taller and more muscled. Aiko was much more bubbly and cheery than he remembered and realized that he was rather more developed in her... chest area. Yukiko had merely grown taller, but she looked the same as Yukimura remembered her.
"Sato! Where the hell have you been?!" Yukio cried as he hugged her.
Aiko frowned at her and asked, "We've been looking for you everywhere! We even called the police!"
"Okazaki Airi, we were worried sick! Don't do that to us again." Yukiko scolded.
Sato managed to crack a smile as she explained, "I was out with a friend and I forgot to call you..."
"Forgot!" they all screeched.
Yukimura chuckled and they seemed to notice his presence now. Yukio was the first to narrow his eyes and recognize him, "Yukimura! I almost didn't recognize you! It's been so long!"
He tackled him with a hug.
Aiko and Yukiko grinned at him. Yukimura only knew Yukio personally because they played soccer together. The two sisters he had spend such little time with but they were familiar of him because he used to hang out with Sato.
"Where have ya been? And what are you doing with Sato here?" Yukio asked.
Yukimura explained, "She was with me."
That was a large bomb that had dropped. Sato cursed as she thought of all the times Yukimura had to act dumb it was now. Her siblings had took that the wrong way- she just knew it because of Yukio's glaring eyes, Aiko's beaming face and Yukiko's fallen jaw.
"WHAT?!" they screamed with different tones.
The dinner was awkward.
Aiko had invited him to dinner right after the outburst with protests from Yukio and simply a stern glare from Yukiko. Aiko loved the fact that Sato had settled down, Yukio hated that fact and Yukiko was assessing him first before saying her opinion. How a simple sentence turned her night like this, she would never know... but she suspected it was because of her sibling's over-protectiveness.
Yukimura had been completely oblivious about the whole thing.
Not even when Aiko had asked when the two started going out, not even when Yukio was saying he 'doesn't trust him with her no matter what past they shared' and not even when Yukiko blatantly asked if he loved her.
To which he replied with a enthusiasm, "Of course! I feel comfortable with Sato and I would kill anyone who wants to hurt her."
Sato was blushing, both with embarrassment and the things Yukimura said about her.
"So, what made you date my sister?" Yukiko asked.
Yukimura paused and then realized what was happening. Sato could practically hear the gears in his head clicking as he finally realized why his siblings were shooting him questions like no tomorrow.
He stared at Sato and asked, "Can I borrow Sato for a minute?"
Yukio was about to protest but Sato stopped him. She hissed, "Yes, I'd like to talk to him for a while."
Yukimura and Sato walked out of the dining room. They decided to go to her bedroom to talk.
"So, you finally realized what they were talking about." Sato mused.
"I didn't really! I'm sorry about that, Sato. I know you don't actually like being in a relationship..." Yukimura sighed.
Sato felt angry at that. What did he mean by that? She actually liked the thought of having a boyfriend but she knew not a lot of boys took an interest in her... not to a shadow. That's how her anger turned into sadness.
"We should tell them the truth so they won't get disappointed later on." Yukimura suggested before opening the door.
"Because their judgement of you matters, right?" Sato said bitterly.
Yukimura stared at her and then asked, "Seriously, Sato. What the hell is wrong with you? You've been like this earlier!"
"Nothing!" Sato snapped.
"Then what did you mean by that?" Yukimura's tone was rising at the minute.
"I'm just saying that you know that they're better than me! And that I'm useless and that my judgement doesn't matter!" Sato screamed.
"What are you talking about? That wasn't what I meant!" Yukimura exclaimed.
"Then what?" Sato said angrily.
"I meant that they'd probably be disappointed that we aren't really dating. They seemed really excited for you!" Yukimura said exasperatedly.
Sato frowned and looked down. The jealousy she felt towards her siblings took her over. She was just afraid that he'd think she was lame and useless and that he'll leave her for her siblings because she was nothing at all compared to them. Tears burned at the end of her eyes and she wiped them away quickly.
Yukimura took notice of this and hugged her. He whispered, "Why are you acting like this?"
Sato paused and told him the truth, "My siblings are better than me. I was afraid that you'd... leave me because they were much better. I thought that what they thought of you mattered to you and that what I think of you isn't that important..."
"Of course, what they think of me is important, Sato. I mean, I want to get approved by your family. But what you think of me is much more important than that." Yukimura said.
Sato registered what he said and asked, "What?"
"You know when Yukiko asked me if I loved you? I didn't lie, really. I love you... not the way friends are supposed to feel." Yukimura grinned down at her.
She supposed it was the heat of the moment but it wasn't at the same time. Maybe it was because she was waiting for him to say that to her face to face because of what happened last time before she got kidnapped- she wanted the truth. Maybe it was just really what she felt for him that made her gave in.
Because, the next moment, they were kissing. The kiss that started out to be tender turned rough and passionate. It made Sato weak in her knees, and no boy had managed to do that. It made her hands go through his hair and his hands slither around her waist and she was sure that they would go farther if not for the loud bam from the door.
Of course, it had to be her brother to have caught her making out.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Yukio screamed.
Miya wasn't sure if leaving her alone with Amemiya would be a good idea.
It was awkward for her because she couldn't help but see the bruises that were on his arm. Whatever happened out there was sure to be violent and it made Miya wondered why Kirino hadn't helped him at all.
"What are you looking at?" Amemiya asked as he stared at her.
Miya looked up at him and asked, "Why didn't you let Kirino heal that up?"
"I didn't want to." Amemiya said and shrugged.
Miya frowned at him as she gave him a scolding look.
Amemiya surrendered and admitted, "I wanted to wait the next morning."
"What for?" Miya asked incredulously.
"Because I deserve this for not protecting you." Amemiya replied, a tiny blush appearing on his cheeks.
Miya touched the bruise in his arm. She whispered, "I wish I could help you..."
"No need." Amemiya dismissed with a grin. He was secretly wincing because she touched his bruise but he also liked the feeling of his hands on him so he didn't complain. Unfortunately, Miya had already retracted back her arm.
Not missing a beat he grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly against his own.
"W-what? Amemiya!" Miya sputtered. He could feel her blushing without even turning to look at her. Regardless, he had to look because she looked really attractive with a blush on her face... not that he'll admit anyway.
"Your hands are soft." Amemiya said.
Miya reluctantly relaxed her hand. Let him do what he wants to as long as he becomes happy. She complained, "And your hands are rough."
Not that she minded because his hand felt strangely comfortable. It was long, rough and calloused but it just made Miya not want to let go of it. Their hands that were tangled together was strangely perfect in its own way, as if their hands were perfectly carved just for each other. Of course, Miya would not admit that at all.
They reached her house. Reluctantly, Amemiya untangled their hands and Miya had the urge to hold his hand again. Pushing such thoughts away, she gave Amemiya a crooked grin, "Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow, I guess."
She entered her house with a hug from her grandmother. Her grandmother scolded her for not telling her where she was and for worrying her because that did not do well with her heart. Miya apologized thousands of times before she was allowed to go to bed. She knew her grandmother meant well but she was just exhausted and needed to rest.
After a long interrogation, Miya was sent off to bed.
The light of her room turned off and she simply opened the window besides her bed because she could not sleep. She welcomed the night as she stared at the moon and its gorgeousness. It was calm and it helped Miya feel a little bit sleepy. Still, she couldn't sleep because she felt like something was watching her.
She rolled over to a side and tried to sleep.
"Hey, you awake?" a voice startled her.
Miya turned, about to kill the guy, and realized that it was Amemiya.
"What are you doing in my house?" Miya asked, trying to keep her voice down.
"I just wanted to check on you." Amemiya said.
"Well, I'm good. Can you go now?" Miya asked as she rolled over and covered her body with the blanket.
"No. I need to protect you." Amemiya said.
"So you're going to stay there all night?" Miya asked, not bothering to turn to him.
"If it takes."
Miya paused and then sat up. She stared at Amemiya before asking, "Why do you need to protect me? I'm fine, okay?"
Amemiya stared at her as he sighed, "I just felt like the reason you got captured was because of me."
"No, it wasn't." Miya said.
"Well, I neglected you and should have sensed that there was something off about the boy..." Amemiya trailed off. He added, "I just felt that I failed you and I need to make up with you."
"Then you should take care of yourself. You don't have to go at great lengths to do this. You didn't have to wait until morning to let Kirino heal the wound, you don't have to pull an all-nighter to keep me away from harm and you certainly don't have to feel down because I got kidnapped at your watch. It was my fault for accepting the stupid bet in the first place." Miya said.
Amemiya looked at her, "You really are so nice. You got a big heart."
Miya blushed and said, "Not really..."
Amemiya jumped on her bed and hugged her. His nose nuzzled on Miya's neck and Miya was blushing like crazy as she hugged him back. She felt safe with his arms around her- like she also did when he held her hand. An unexplained feeling rested on her stomach and she was glad that he couldn't see her face right now.
He didn't really have to do anything special as an act of apology. Just him being here right now was enough.
Miya fell asleep on his shoulder. Amemiya chuckled and tucked her in, making her position as comfortable as possible. He was about to jump the window when Miya's hand grabbed the end of his shirt. Now, he was the one blushing.
"Stay." Miya whispered.
Amemiya stared at her for a little while longer. He couldn't stop staring at her delicate face, her kissable lips and her long sky-colored hair. That's when he realized how long he was holding his breath. Finally, he laid down next to her as she rested her forehead against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and he felt like he was home.
Of course, he just realized the next morning that this wasn't his house and was awoken with the shriek of her grandmother.
DONE! Hope you like this even if it was rushed.
Four more chapters left! :D
