I'll start by apologizing for not updating last Friday, I was completing my final exams for my first year in Uni, and preparing for it kind of made working on this story fade into the background a little, sorry about that! But now, I should be done for the year, and to celebrate, I'm offering you the two final chapters in a single update, yes this story is now officially complete! :)

I'd like to thank each and every one of you for taking your time to read/follow/favourite /review over the past few months, it means a lot, and I'm super glad you enjoyed the ride! Plus, as I got emails notifying me of your interest, I had a great time reading your profiles and checking out where you all came from, and all I can say is wow, I was so not expecting this to even reach countries like Bangladesh, Norway, Czech Revar or even Kyrgyzstan, but that's kind of what's really cool about FanFiction, you get to meet people from all over the world :D So yes, it really meant a lot, and I'm really hoping you all enjoyed the ride! :)

Well, I don't have much to say on this particular chapter, well, Fili isn't technically fully healed, but weight-gain doesn't happen overnight either, but Bilbo will surely keep an eye out for him :). This is more of a conclusion to the story, but I've got a few plans blooming and other plotlines forming themselves, involving some major Fili!whump of course (^^), because our blonde Durin just doesn't get enough love and Fili!whump is so desperately lacking in the Hobbit fandom on FanFiction! The only whump stories I ever find involve Kili, Kili, more Kili and, oh, did I mention Kili? Because, Kili. So yeah, his brother deserves some love too, especially after the poor treatment he got in the movies (I mean five lines if you include "Go! Run!" and "No!" in BOFA? Really? And not even mentioning the fact that nobody ever retrieved his body after he died either...).

I'd like to finish writing my Hobbit/Chronicles of Narnia crossover first though, as it's a project I've been working on for a while now, and it will be continuously updated every Saturday for the next few months I hope. (If you're into the two fandoms, you can check it out if you wish, I'll even offer you free cookies! ^^) and I've also got a Game Of Thrones one-shot plot somewhere there too begging for attention, but I hope to come back to the Hobbit fandom sometime! You can keep an eye out if you want to!

Well, I know this is really not original, but I hope you'll enjoy the last chapter too, as it brings this story to a closure, and feel free to review one last time if you wish! :)

Thank you very much for reading! ~

Thorin came to slowly, as he felt something hard and cold against his back. Opening his eyes, he gazed up at blue skies and white clouds. He definitely wasn't dead then. Blinking away the fuzziness in his vision, the first person he could make out was Gandalf, recognizable to the grey hat and long beard. Indeed the wizard was hunched over him, looking over the wounds on his body critically, trying to assure himself the dwarf would make it. Thorin was alive, and for now, he couldn't really hope for much more.

"The Halfling…" he gasped out. His first thoughts went to Bilbo, he needed to know the hobbit was safe, that he was alive and well. He could care less about his own injuries, Bilbo needed to be among them.

"It's alright, Bilbo is here." Gandalf smiled down at the dwarf, as he let him know their little burglar was mostly unharmed (nothing serious really) and safe among them. Thorin was indeed okay, in all but shape. He knew the dwarf would heal those cuts eventually anyway. It warmed his heart to see Thorin speak of their burglar in such a concerned way, knowing that finally, the two were on good terms, they were officially friends. It may have taken them a long time, but at least, now it was certain.

Thorin didn't linger lying down, his pride wouldn't allow the others to see him like that, and in a few gruff movements, he got back on his feet, even if he was a little unsteady, seeking out Mister Baggins.

"You!" The accusation cut through the air like a sharp knife, and startled Bilbo. Thorin was angry at him? Although it was understandable, a little part of him had hoped that they were both friends now, that he didn't need to adopt a commanding voice to have Bilbo's allegiance. He looked down, almost ashamed to meet their leader's eye.

"What were you doing?!" Thorin asked harshly, out of breath already.

Fili, who had just managed to escape Oin's prying hands, felt guilty. He didn't regret his actions, he'd do it again if the situation were to represent itself, but the fact that Thorin seemed to be actually accusing Bilbo, when the hobbit had saved his life, it was uncalled for. He wanted to speak up, to correct his Uncle's misdirected anger, as he would rather face it than have their burglar exposed to it. He knew Thorin could sometimes say very hurtful things when he let his anger get the better of him, even if he didn't mean it.

"You nearly got yourself killed!" Thorin continued on. He needed Bilbo to realize the gravity of the situation he'd put himself in, he needed to let him know that by helping him, he could have died. And Thorin knew he would never forgive himself, should anyone die for him.

"Did I not say that you would be a burden? That you would not survive in the wild?!" Thorin was striding towards him, and Bilbo found himself taking a step back, beginning to fear the dwarf. The hobbit had lost all ability to speak. He'd wanted to call out on how unjust this was when Thorin had started, but even injured, the dwarf was still more imposing than Bilbo, and the hobbit found himself shrinking under the stern gaze.

"That you had no place amongst us?" It hurt, and it hurt because it was partly true. Bilbo had done everything he could think of to gain the dwarves' friendship, from adopting their lifestyle to genuinely feel concerned for each and every one of them (Balin, Thorin and Fili the most though, even if he considered the whole company as somewhat of an extended family now) and one by one, the others had all accepted him, some more slowly than others, but he had felt them all warm up to him eventually. Thorin had been somewhat reluctant, but had thanked him in Rivendell, and the hobbit had thought it had been enough, that it would make them officially friends. Bilbo could see now that Thorin would no longer want him in his company, and it hurt, because Bilbo had thought that he'd finally found a place for himself here. The dwarf in front of him no longer wanted to share any kind of friendship.

He was stunned into silence however as Thorin suddenly crashed into him, opening his arms out and inviting Bilbo into a bone crushing hug.

"I have never been so wrong, not in my entire life!" Thorin hoped, he really hoped Bilbo would forgive his harsh words towards him. He was extremely sorry for the way he'd behaved with him, ever since they'd left Bag End actually. The apology in Rivendell hadn't been enough, to his eyes at least, and he was fully accepting Bilbo now. His loyalty, especially to someone who'd been so hard on him, it really meant a lot to the dwarf. "Thank you" he whispered into his ear.

Bilbo was at a loss, what was he supposed to say? He could see that Fili had been right after all, when he'd said that "Thorin, despite trying to deny it over and over, well… He has a big heart, and sometimes, a big heart is all one could ask for." And Bilbo was definitely liking this side of the dwarf, this was the "Uncle Thorin" Fili had been talking about with such fondness, this had been what Bilbo had wished to see since he'd left his home in the Shire. He hugged Thorin back of course, just overjoyed that he'd finally been fully integrated in the group, he was finally allowed a place among those thirteen dwarves, a place he'd longed for since they'd set out on this journey. He didn't miss Thorin's personal gratitude in his ear either, the dwarf thanking him for what he'd done for his nephew on the same occasion. Well, weren't friends supposed watch over each other? As far as he was concerned, Bilbo had done what he could for Fili because he cared about him, because he was his friend, and as a friend, he took it upon himself to look out for him. It was what friends did for one another, it had only come off as a completely normal reaction to him anyway.

The two stayed like that for another few moments, among the cheering dwarves around them, awkwardly conveying apologies and acceptance to each other, before pulling away.

"I'm sorry I ever doubted you." Thorin confessed honestly, he needed to let it out, let Bilbo know he could see in him a friend from now on, he wanted them both on good terms.

However, there was someone else he needed to see to, and turning away from the hobbit, he searched throughout the company for a certain mop of blonde hair. As he spotted his nephew among the rest of the dwarves, he made his way to him and the others parted, leaving their leader a clear path.

"As for you…" Thorin started, eyeing the torn strips of clothing Oin had somehow managed to force around his nephews' stomach, and took a step forward.

Fili took a step back. He knew that tone of voice, he'd heard it often enough for the blonde to know what was coming. Generally it was hard words or a slap, but he would take it. Thorin was his king, it wasn't in his rights to refuse. Besides, he'd disobeyed his orders, he'd come out into the open when he'd been told to climb up into the safety the trees offered them, his Uncle was in his rights to bark whatever he deemed fit at him. He'd been only trouble since the beginning of this whole adventure anyway…

The blonde stood stiff, waiting for the blow, and had actually closed his eyes and lowered his head, not willing to see the disappointed expression his Uncle would be wearing as he'd give it. Fili knew it wasn't what he should do, as heir to the throne of Erebor, but he couldn't bear to look his Uncle in the eye.

Thorin surprised him however, as he proceeded to do the same to him as he'd done to Bilbo, bring him into warm hug. Fili paused for a moment, too stunned by Thorin's turn of action to actually be able to move, before wrapping his arms around his Uncle's back, glad to have him back and in one piece. It felt like an age since they'd displayed such affection for each other, and it felt immensely relieving in some way.

"Don't you ever do something like that again." It was an order, but even with his head buried in his Uncle's shoulder, Fili knew he was smiling. It was good, finally knowing his Uncle really did care for him, that he knew he could count on the family he had with him, and all of the others who'd gathered around the two. Gripping Thorin's clothes tighter, and burying his face in his chest, like he'd done as a dwarfling, which felt immensely comforting, Fili allowed himself to be a child just once more, in those few moments. He understood his Uncle needed him, they all needed him, and as he felt a familiar hand against the back of his head, he didn't feel so alone anymore.

He knew he'd thanked Bilbo already, for being the one who'd managed to start pulling him out of his sickly state, notably by confronting his Uncle and even talking to him, but he needed to thank him again. Adding to the fact that he'd helped him, the hobbit had also changed Thorin, he'd opened up a part of his Uncle Fili knew he'd closed off to his family for a long time, and it was so good to see it again.

Healing, fully rebuilding his old strength and regaining a healthy weight would take time, but with Uncle Thorin back, knowing the others were there too should he need them, and especially taking into account that the hobbit would be continuing on with them for what he hoped another long while at least, Fili finally felt unburdened, he finally felt like he belonged here, with them.

As he closed his eyes, making the most of Uncle Thorin's warm embrace around his small frame, his thoughts drifted to Mister Baggins, who was quietly standing to their left, always keeping a sharp eye in the most secret fashion, always there yet so discrete about it all. Truly remarkable, what such small people could do.

Thank you Bilbo, thank you for everything.
