A/N: Three of the gifted vampires have been taken care of and now they still have to deal with the others plus the wolves. Skipping town might be better for them. LOL. However, that would leave others at risk, and the Cullen's can't do that to others. So what will happen next? Some wondered about if there was any relation between Alice and the Brandon sisters, and you will find out in this chapter. Enjoy!

Chapter 51 – The Unknown

"You know, my family probably killed your partners by now?" Edward snapped at the other vampire.

Laughing, James spat, "Possibly, but I wouldn't count out my brother completely. He has a gift never seen before, and if they have been turned to ash, then it was his own fault for being cocky and not waiting for me. He deserved to die if that was the case."

"So if you die, it served you right?"

James took exception to Edward's words and tone of voice. Moving swiftly, his hand grabbed the other's neck and squeezed, creating cracks in the porcelain skin, "I won't die, but you may before you're able to taste the sweet nectar of Bella's." He flicked his wrist as if throwing nothing more than a horseshoe, and Edward went flying through the air, a tree stopping his flight before toppling over from the impact. James stalked towards the copper headed vampire as if he were stalking his prey, a smirk on his face, "Remember who is in charge, who has the power…it isn't you. Or do you need to die right now?"

Edward wasn't stupid. He knew his partner had every intention of killing him after they retrieved Alice and Bella; he saw it in the other man's mind. And he saw other things too. Narrowing his eyes, he snidely commented, "You're after Alice too, but when you couldn't get her, you went after her family. You saw the names and addresses in Alice's patient file. The Brandon sisters were your creation, and they're her sisters. Younger than her by four years. You even played with them for a while before turning them."

A malicious bark shook the trees, "You're right. It was fun playing with them, driving them insane, and then when I started to get a little bored of being gentle, I turned them. I listened to their screams as they burned with my venom, and took them while they were turning from human to vampire. They would do anything for me. Everything they did, their notoriety, came because they carried out my orders. They never acted without me. But Alice, she smelled even better. I knew breaking her in would be a lot more fun. I planned to use them to get to her." James chuckled, "Here you have me spilling all my dirty little secrets. Shall I reveal some of yours as well? You're just like me."

"No! I'm nothing like you. I'm only here to get Bella!"

"Oh please! You're just like me. You want to rape her, bend her to your will, drive your dick into her cunt and make her scream for you. You want her to be yours and yours alone. You want to control her."

"No. I only want…"

"Ha! You can lie all you want, but I know what you desire. I know how you've masturbated to the image you have of her in your mind, pretending your hand was either hers or her pussy. I know how you've also probably looked at the other women in your former coven. Desiring all of them, craving them, wanting to take them; and yet, you couldn't because the men in your coven protected them, kept them from you. Did you cum thinking about any of them? Did you pretend to be with all of them, you in the middle of a harem? Did you want the men as well? Did that power make you crazy with lust? Did you hate the men while you also secretly yearned for them?"

"NO!"

"No? But you did want Bella, and I think you wanted the others. You were changed during your teen years. How you could not want that? Before your parents died, before you were turned, did your daddy take you to a brothel to get your cherry popped?"

"Shut up!"

"Or were you too chicken? Did you wither at seeing all the naked girls running around? And now you are on the verge of losing it, of not being able to control your wanton feelings."

"NO!" Edward leaped at the other man and tried to grab him around the throat, to decapitate him, but James was faster and he failed. Before he could change tactics, James had him on the ground, his face being pushed into the dirt hidden under a pile of leaves.

Reaching around and under his attacker, James shoved his hand down Edward's waistband and snorted, "Does this turn you on as well?" His hand moved up and down and he whispered, "I can break you in just as easily as I will Bella and Alice…just like I did with the Brandon sisters and Victoria." When he heard Edward's moan, he pushed him away, "But you're just not my type." He started to walk away, towards the newborns, listening to the heavy breathing of the younger vampire. The moment Edward got to his feet, James knew it and prepared for the next assault. It came just like he knew it would.

Edward stood no chance. James spun, grabbed him by the throat, and twisted off his arm throwing him to the ground without exerting much effort. He had been bested again. Even being able to read the other vampire's mind had not helped him because his emotions had taken over his self-control causing him to snap.

Throwing the arm away, James sneered, "If you want to continue living, learn your place. Now let's go and see if you're right about your former family or not."

For now, Edward would stand down, however, he would make sure James paid for this later on. In the end, he would be the one standing in victory with Bella at his side.

Forks…

They had fought and won against three gifted vampires, and add in the two sisters, five had been dealt with. Were there things that Alice did not see though, things falling into the holes of her vision? It was a frightening possibility, but it could happen. How would they overcome what they could not see?

The wolves were a special kind of trouble, and if the warning was to be believed, the Cullen coven would be walking into a dangerous situation with the wolves. While Jasper believed the coven could deal with James and his posse in a normal situation, the small contingent of newborns made it dangerous, and Jasper knew they would need the extra help. Not to mention that he had a feeling, even if he did not call Sam for help, the wolves would be watching from the woods, waiting for their chance, striking when they found the opportunity. They could not be trusted, but could they win without them? There was no telling.

Only hours remained between now and the time when James and the others would show up. Newborns, wolves, psycho vampires, and who knew what else. So far they had been lucky, but luck tended to run out eventually. When would their number be up?

After finally calming Bella down from the previous attack, Jasper pulled Alice to the side and asked, "What is the outcome without Sam and the others?" He knew she should be able to see the outcome without the wolves' involvement because their absence should not create a hole.

Closing her eyes she focused on the upcoming battle and saw…nothing. How could that be? She should see something. Was her vision failing her? Was there something like the wolves she could not see, or were the wolves themselves the reason for the blackness in the future? Unsure of what the answer was, her anxiety grew and she shook her head, "I…I can't. I can't see anything. It's blank."

"Blank? What's that mean?"

"It means…I can't see anything."

"You did before though."

"Yes, but now, I can't see anything. I...I don't know what's going to happen." She felt like she had failed her family.

Placing his hand on her shoulder, Jasper smiled, "It's not your fault shorty. You've given us more than enough information about it up to this point. We'll use that and make due. Don't worry. We'll get 'em. We're all walkin' away from this even if I have to skin a wolf doin' it."

'Sorry Jazz."

"Not your fault. We'll figure it out together." He sounded more confident than he actually felt, but he had to believe or the others would fall into the pit of doubt as well. In his mind, the reason Alice was having problems seeing the fight when she did not have issues in the past, the wolves would be involved whether they were called or not; which also meant, the wolves could decide to take out anyone they considered a threat, basically any and all vampires. Damn! And the fact that the wolves did not know where they were was only a minor hindrance since the pack would be able to sniff their location out fairly easily. What to do? He had to think of something fast, but what?

"JW?" Bella approached slowly and quietly.

"What is it darlin'?" He gave his mate a smile, trying to appear more confident than he felt with their situation.

"You pulled Alice away from the others and my dad is kind of anxious. What's going on? You're acting weird and I can feel your nervousness," she replied.

It still felt a little unsettling that she could feel his emotions. Before it was only him that could feel the others, and he had always been able to hide his own from most people, Alice being the only exception; and now, Bella could feel what he was feeling without trying. There was no hiding any longer, and he wasn't sure how he felt about that. Part of him liked the fact he could not hide from her, and part of him was unnerved about the whole experience. Whipping his hand out towards her, he grabbed her behind her head and pulled her into his arms. "Nothing darlin'. We were just trying to narrow down the timeline."

She could tell he was lying, but she did not say anything to that, "What did you figure out?"

"The others will be here closer to sunset. The wolves are probably already on their way even though no one called them."

There was something in those words that concerned him. She could feel it, but before she could say anything, he spoke again.

"Come on. Let's join the others and figure out our next steps," he kissed his mate's temple and then lifted her into his arms and ran towards the others in the distance, still unsure about what they were going to do. Stopping midway, he spun around, Bella still in his arms, and demanded, "Can you still see before the fight? What about Edward and James? These three should have been the last of the gifted…right?"

Alice closed her eyes and concentrated, "They are on their way and will be here sooner than expected, but right after they show up is when everything goes black."

"Who's with them? How many do you see?"

"Edward, James…" she scrunched her eyes shut even tighter, "Nine newborns, and a shadow."

"A shadow?"

"There's someone else, but I can't see them. I can't tell if they have a gift or not, or if it is male or female. I'm just not sure."

"That's fine. Thanks."

"Jazz?"

"What?"

"The newborns. They're out of control, but they are afraid of James. He's able to control them."

"You put enough fear or show them what happens if they rebel, newborns are controllable." He nodded his thanks, his mind filling with thoughts and ideas, processing everything. He still wasn't sure what they were going to do. If it was just the vampires or just the wolves, it would be one thing, but to combine the danger…that is what stumped him. The wolves would probably start out only fighting the enemy, but they could change at any point in time. And then there was the warning, they were willing to sacrifice one of their own, which made them even more unpredictable, but maybe there was still a way. He was positive there was a way to beat them all. It would take perfect timing and placement.

When the band of newborns broke through the tree line, the wolves were close, and the Cullen's were ready. James and Edward stayed back to allow their special weapon to take the lead and do their worst.
