A/N: Thanks to all those who read and reviewed for chapter twenty two. I really appreciate it. I hope you like this next chapter just as much.
Disclaimer: I only own Miranda Norton, the name of Derek's mom, Aaron's mom, Clyde's mom and the fifth grade boys. Everyone else belongs to CBS/Criminal Minds.
Just like the previous week before, Miranda was once again passing out papers. But this time, only to the boys and not the girls. The girls were feeling hurt by her actions.
"Miss Norton, this is so not fair," JJ huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "If the boys get papers, then so should us girls."
"Uh… JJ," Spencer said holding up the piece of paper. "This is for the mother/son dance this Saturday. All you girls got one for the father/daughter dance last weekend."
"He's right, Jennifer," Miranda had just finished handing out the last of the papers. "You ladies and your fathers got to go a dance last Saturday. And now this Saturday it's the boys and their mothers turn."
"Miss Norton," Derek raised his hand.
"Yes Derek," Miranda asked.
"Do we have to wear a shirt to the dance?"
"Yes you do."
Derek sighed heavily. "That isn't fair. How is my awesome six pack abs supposed to breathe?"
"Derek, just like the rest of us girls, I really don't think some ninety year old women are gonna be impressed with your so called six pack abs." Haley said.
"Our mommies are not that old. At least I don't think they are," Aaron now had a confused look on his face. "Hey Miss Norton, can I go call my mommy? I need to ask her how old she is."
"No Aaron, you may not," Miranda said. "And I'm certain that your mother or anyone else's in this class is that old yet."
"How do you know? Did you ask any of our mommies how old they are," Savannah asked.
"No, but I know all of them are way younger than ninety years old."
"Miss Norton, just because you once painted an elephant's toenails pink, it doesn't make you a genius." As usual, Emily had once again gone off topic.
Where in the world does she come up with this kind of stuff?" Miranda thought to herself.
"Did you really paint an elephant's toenails pink before, Miss Norton?" Alex asked in amazement.
"No sweetheart, I did not."
"Oh." There was some disappointment in Alex's voice.
"Don't be sad, Agent Apple Sunshine Sprinkles," Emily threw a comforting arm around Alex's shoulder and gave her a quick side hug. "Someday, you'll stop being afraid of rainbows."
"I'm not afraid of rainbows," Alex had a confused look on her face as she wriggled out of Emily's embrace. "Why do you think I am?"
"Don't you remember? You told me last night when you was at my house last night," said Emily.
"I don't remember being at your house last night," said Alex.
"Well, you was," said Emily. "You just don't have a very good memory." She lightly patted the top of Alex's head.
"Emily, I think Alex would know if she was at your house last night or not," Elle said matter of factly.
"Well Agent Has To Get In Everyone's Business," Emily sent a glare towards Elle. "I'm sure Kevin would know that five minutes ago, there was a grasshopper on his shirt."
"What!" Kevin asked, clearly freaked out, trying to find the grasshopper and get rid of it.
"He's gone now, Kevin," said Emily. "He hopped away from you and went somewhere else."
Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. "Well that's good to know."
"Yeah. I think he may have hopped into your book bag," suggested Emily, causing Kevin to once again panic.
"What!" Kevin was about to get up from his seat to check for any unwanted creatures in his book bag, but was stopped by the voice of his teacher.
"Kevin, I'm sure there is no grasshopper in your book bag," said Miranda. "Please sit back down." She then noticed David was walking towards the door. "David, where are you going?" She asked.
"I'm gonna go tell my mommy all about this dance thing," said David. "Don't worry, Miss Norton. Mommy works at this school."
Realizing who he was talking about, Emily jumped out of her seat, raced over to David and grabbed him by the hand while dragging him back to his seat.
"You are not taking my mommy to the dance with you this Saturday!" She hissed at him.
"It's called a mother/son dance for a reason, Emily," David spat back. "And yes I am taking her! She's my mommy too!"
"Miss Norton! Tell David he can't take my mommy to the dance with him!" Emily demanded.
"David, as much as Elizabeth would love to go the dance with you, I'm sure she would want you take your real mommy instead." Miranda said.
Saturday had finally arrived and all the boys along with their mothers were at the mother/son dance. Similar to the father/daughter dance, this dance was also being held in the gymnasium of the elementary school. Everyone was amazed at how the room looked. Blue and green streamers hung from the rafters of the ceiling. Balloons of blue and green were scattered among the dance floor. Two tables were line against the wall, one was covered with a variety of candy and other sweet treats, while the other table was filled with gift bags for each boy to take home with them.
Most of the boys in Miranda's class were sitting at a table along with their mothers, enjoying some snacks and talking among each other. However, one boy seemed to be missing.
"Fran, where's you son," Keegan Easter, Clyde's mother asked of Derek.
"Oh he's still out on the dance floor dancing," Fran answered. "I decided to take a quick break. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep up with…." Fran stopped suddenly and blushed with embarrassment when she looked over at the dance floor and saw that her son was now shirtless and flexing his muscles in front of some older boys. "Would you please excuse me for a moment? I need to go tell my son to put his shirt back." She made her way towards her son.
Derek was busy flexing his muscles in front of some fifth grade boys and telling them how much of an inspiration he is to people and that they could be just like him if they'd just stop being lazy. Some of the fifth graders laughed at him and a few mumbled some rude comments about him.
"See if you would all just get off the couch and put down the bag of potato chips and work out like me, you'd look like this," Derek motioned at himself. "It's a shame you all look like a creature that crawled out of a swamp."
He then felt a tapping on his shoulder and heard his mother's voice in his ear.
"Derek," She whispered. He turned around and saw Fran kneeling at his level. "put your shirt back on, please."
"But I don't wanna," Derek whined. "Why do I have to?!"
"Because you just do."
Derek reluctantly took his shirt and put it back on. "It's not my fault all these other boys don't have awesome abs like me," He crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. "They just don't know how to exercise like I do."
Fran had soon brought her son back over to his classmates and the rest of the moms. He was still pouting as he took a seat next to Spencer.
"Someone looks mad about something," Maria Rossi, David's mother teased with smile towards Derek.
"Oh, he's upset because I made him put his shirt back on," said Fran. "He doesn't like wearing them."
"Did you know that shirts were invented in…" Spencer began, but was interrupted with Derek's hand in his face.
"Spencer, not now. I'm too upset to learn anything new from you."
Spencer swatted Derek's hand away from his face. "Okaaaaaaaaaaay," He awkwardly said.
"I'm bored now. Let's go dance now mommy," Aaron grabbed his mother Lois Hotchner's hand and lead her out to the dance floor. The rest of the boys along with the mothers soon followed behind.
For the rest of the night, the boys and their mothers had a wonderful time dancing and laughing. They would never forget this night.
End of chapter twenty three. Please leave me some reviews. I'd love to know what you all thought. Chapter twenty four will be up as soon as possible.
