It was a Friday afternoon and school had just gotten out. Both Emily and her mother Elizabeth had received a note earlier that morning from an mysterious person. On that note in all caps, it read….

Meet me in the janator's closset after skool today. We need to talk.

D.j.r

Whoever D.J.R. was, they misspelled janitor, closet and school. Neither Emily or Elizabeth realized they had both received the letter until they met each other at the door of the janitor's closet. Emily had found her note inside the pocket of her book bag and Elizabeth found hers on top of her desk.

"Mommy what are you doing here," asked Emily.

"I'm guessing I'm here for the same reason as you," Elizabeth held up the note she received. "Did you get one of these too?"

Emily held up a note that was identical to her mother's. "Yep. What do you think D.J.R. stands for? Ooh! I know! Damn Janitor Ran," She said before Elizabeth could even make a guess as to what it stood for.

"Emily Paget Prentiss, you watch your language," Elizabeth warned her daughter. "That is not very nice language for a young lady your age."

"Sorry mommy," Emily sheepishly apologized.

"It's okay sweetheart. Just don't every let me hear you talk that way again," said Elizabeth. "And besides, I really don't think that's what those initials stand for. I think it's someone's name."

Emily then started to get excited over the whole note."What if this is a spy mission?! She held up her note and waved it front of Elizabeth's face. "Time for some really cool spy names! Mommy, you get to be Agent Frosted Toenail Butters and I'll be Agent Sugar Cube Buckets."

Elizabeth just laughed at her daughter's comment. "Emily, I really don't think this is a spy mission," she said. "And maybe whoever wrote these notes is someone from…"

"WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP ALREADY AND GET IN HERE! I WOULD LIKE TO GET HOME IN TIME FOR MY CARTOONS!" A familiar shouted from within the closet, startling both Emily and Elizabeth.

"Ahhh," Emily screeched as she jumped into her mother's arms. "This place is haunted!"

"No it's not," Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she struggled to release herself from her daughter's grasp. "I think I know who it is." She was finally freed from her daughter. She took Emily by the hand and led her into the janitor's closet, where they were met by David.

"Well it's about time," said David. "Please sit down."

Elizabeth and Emily followed his orders and sat down. "David, what's this all about," asked Elizabeth. Why did you send Emily and I these notes?" She held up her copy of the note.

David sighed, looking at both Emily and Elizabeth. "I sent those notes to the two of you because we really need to talk."

"Talk? What do we need to talk about," asked Emily.

"For as long as you two have known me," David began. "you've called me your son and your brother," This caused David to receive confusing looks from both Emily and Elizabeth, but none the less, he continued on. "I wanted to correct both of you, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings. But I think now should really be the time that I told you the truth."

"The truth is that you're an idiot," Emily blurted out. You're the one who always called her mommy," She pointed at Elizabeth. "and me," she then pointed at herself. "your sister!"

"I had a feeling you'd say that," David calmly said. "and that's why I talked to Spencer and got a couple of these cards from him," he handed a card to each Elizabeth and Emily. "They've got the number to the nearest crazy house. I think both of you may want to call it."

Elizabeth thanked him for his concerned and then lied to him by telling him that she'd call the number as soon as she could. Emily on the other hand however, crumpled her card up and tossed it at David, hitting his forehead with it.

"Emily," Elizabeth warned her daughter, but Emily ignored her.

"You're the one who's crazy here," Emily screeched at David.

"That's okay Emily," said David. "you're upset right now because you can't call me your brother anymore," He stood from his chair, walked over to Emily and embraced her in an awkward hug. "but someday, you'll learn that I was right and you'll thank me for all this."

"Let go of me," Emily wriggled her way out of David's grasp. She glared at him. "You're wrong and I'm right!"

"I give up," David sighed and held up his hands in defeat. "No matter what I say, you're just gonna argue with me," he said to Emily. "and besides, my mommy, not you. Sorry to break your heart," he looked at Elizabeth. "but my actual mommy is probably done talking to her friend that she saw in the fourth grade hall earlier. She's probably looking for me. Well, I'm glad we had this little meeting. Bye." He waved at both Elizabeth and Emily and then walked out the door.

Emily began to sniffle. Elizabeth looked at her with a surprised expression.

"Something wrong, sweetheart?" she asked.

"I miss my brother," Emily wailed. Not even a minute ago, she was arguing with David about how he wasn't her brother. And now to Elizabeth's amazement, she's claiming that David was her brother.

"Emily, you don't have a brother," Elizabeth awkwardly patted her daughter's back. "David was never your brother. That's what you always said."
Emily suddenly stopped crying and looked at her mother for a moment. Elizabeth waited for her to say something.

"Really? When did I say that?"

"Every time he called me mommy and you his sister."

Suddenly as if a light bulb had gone off in Emily's head, she smiled. "Now I remember," She joyfully exclaimed. "Wow, mommy, all those times you fed jelly beans to the neighbor's pet walrus, really paid off! You're really smart now!"

"Emily, I never fed to jelly beans to the neighbor's pet walrus," said Elizabeth. "and besides they don't have a pet walrus."

"If they don't have a pet walrus, then what's that really fat gray thing that's always sitting in the window of their living room," Emily placed her hands on her hips.

"That's a cat. You should know that because you're always stealing it from them and using it on your little spy missions," Elizabeth stated.

Feeling as if she had just been slapped, Emily was taken aback by her mother's comment.

"Mommy! How dare you accuse me of tying my shoelaces while chewing bubblegum, when you know the truth is that I filled the washing machine with chocolate and caramel sauce before you threw a load of laundry into it this mor…"

"You did what?!" Elizabeth interrupted her daughter with an irate look.

Oops. Emily knew she was in trouble now. Elizabeth was always warning her not mess with the washing machine or any of their other household appliances.

"Uh… I can't talk right now mommy. I gotta go. I'm supposed to help an old lady cross the street," Emily tried to make an escape for it, but was caught by Elizabeth. "Okay mommy," she sighed in defeat. "you got me. What's my punishment?"

"Young lady, when we get home, you're going to help me clean out the washing machine. And you're banned from watching TV for the next week," Elizabeth scolded.

"But, but mommy," Emily stammered. "I didn't break the TV! I only broke the washing machine! Why can't I just be banned from that, instead of the TV?!"

"You want to go two weeks without TV," Elizabeth asked with a stern look.

"No! One week is fine," Emily nearly shouted. "I can survive one week without TV!"

End of chapter twenty four. I just figured it was time for David to stop calling Elizabeth his mommy and Emily his sister. I may or may not bring it back every once in a while. Hell, David's gotta annoy Emily somehow. Please leave me some reviews. I'd love to know what you all thought. Chapter twenty five will be up as soon as possible.
