Love ya guys!
"He's going to be out for how long?"
"Approximately two to three weeks." Neji nearly fainted, his pale skin turning whiter than I thought possible. "That won't be a problem will it, Neji?" He rubbed his eyes and placed his glasses back on his face.
"Certainly not, Mr. Uchiha. I'll inform the others working for him and the ones partnered for collaborations." I nodded, no need for me to show him the way out of my office.
I sighed and looked at the stack of paperwork on the edge of my desk. My absence from work already taking a toll on me.
I started on the large stack of boring and probably important words. I got through a few pages before I gazed out of my window and at the stage.
I wonder how Naruto is doing...
"I was wondering why I hadn't heard from my son in a while." Kakashi's sudden appearance pulled me from my wandering moment, my eyes narrowing a bit before widening. "Hm, that's right. Where as my beloved fox? I didn't know, so I decided to check out his studio only to find a pizza box, empty, some blood spots, and the chain broken off of his door.
"I knew something was wrong, so that was when I went to his apartment to find that he suddenly had stitches." Kakashi looked around my office, his hands in the pockets of his finely sewed suit. "At least you performed the procedure. That took a large weight off of my shoulders." I nodded slowly.
"...Thank you." Kakashi's eyes widened slightly and his eyebrows rose.
"You remember me, don't you?" I nodded, memories flushing back to the surface of my brain.
"Ne Sasuke, you have an injury again? What do you kids do at school now-a-days anyway?" I chuckled as the gray haired man patted me on the hand and picked me up, muttering something about silly first graders. "Hey, I have a surprise for you when you return home. I'm sure you'll enjoy it." I smiled, cheering in the tall man's arms as we approached the Uchiha mansion.
I was met with the warm welcome of my mother, followed by a tomato with a funny face drawn on it. I grinned, jumping towards it with excitement and nearly falling out of Mister's arms. "Tomato!"
Itachi was in the kitchen, and I heard his gentle voice call out to me. I hugged Mister before demanding to be put down, followed by running towards my big brother. He picked me up and smiled, asking of the whereabouts of my sudden knowledge of English.
"Mister told me how to say tomato! He says I should know how to say my favorites in all languages!" Itachi and my mother smiled, the special man smiling behind his cotton cover.
"Kakashi!" All of our heads turned towards the dining room where father was standing with his glasses hung low. "A word, please?" The man named 'Kakashi' walked after my father into his study, apologizing before he did so.
"You worked with my family, but more specifically with my father, although a few months before the fire you disappeared." I fiddled with the suddenly interesting Rubix Cube on my desk, curious as to who placed it there. "I searched everywhere for you, but my parents gave me limits as to how far and deeply I could search. I never found anything close." I turned a few of it's axises, now more interested in solving it rather than staring at the older before me. He apologized.
"I had to return to America. I really wanted to stay, you know; I held out as long as I could. Naruto was not much older, but he'd been trying to deal with his parents' deaths all alone in a no-good orphanage for a little over a year and a half already at the time. I couldn't take that any longer. You were my family, Sasuke, but so was Naruto." I stared at the solved piece of plastic intently, a soft hint of sadness present in my dark coals.
"I understand." I whispered. A sudden question popped into my mind, something I simply could not ignore. "Wait." Kakashi looked at me with question. "If you took care of Naruto, why does he not speak Japanese?" Kakashi gave me a blank stare for a while before sighing.
"You still haven't gotten to know Naruto all that well yet, have you?" He shook his head slightly, obviously not wanting to hear a response. "There are certain things that are better left unsaid from my lips. All I can tell you is that, if you didn't already know, Naru's parents were Japanese natives. They came to America because of work that your father encouraged them to carry out. Naruto is born Japanese, but he doesn't…" Kakashi pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "...he doesn't know that." My eyes widened. "You do understand that you are not to say anything to him, correct?" I nodded. "Good. Well, If you're asking me this question I'm almost positive he hasn't spoken to you about his parents, so I have to keep it brief. After his parents' deaths, he wanted nothing to do with anything Japanese or related to it." He stared at the ground for a few seconds before speaking again. When he did open his mouth, his words were quiet and strained, almost as if it physically hurt or didn't want to come out. "I couldn't put him through that pain again."
My phone rang, the noise starling both of us through the tense air. I picked it up, wondering who the hell could be calling me right now.
"Sasuke!"
Of course, it has to be the idiot.
Kakashi chuckled, obviously knowing exactly who called and waved before taking his leave. Once he was gone, I sighed and replied to the dumb blonde. "Yes?"
"We're caught! Kakashi came by earlier and he was clearly upset! I told him you did it, and he just left after that! I think he's coming for you!" I exhaled through my nose, his voice suddenly appearing annoying. I reminded myself that he was currently injured, and that I needed to show-up Itachi, so I forced myself to calm down. "Hey, you okay?"
I sighed softly. "Yes."
He chuckled. "I thought the Uchihas were supposed to be intelligent and business-y."
"If you train a dog to walk the same path as the others, it will do as it's been trained, but any dog can run away."
"Hm…"
"Don't think too much; you could hurt your brain, and that's something even I can't fix."
"Ah! You stupid know-it-all Uchi-"
"What do you want for dinner?" There was a pause.
"...Eh?"
"Why don't you say we try this whole pizza date thing again?" He seemed to think about it for a moment.
"Why not. Make sure to bring a large pepperoni and a large cheese! Oh, and while you're at it, bring some movies and maybe some beer or something." I rolled my eyes and grunted before hanging up.
The rest of the day was filled with catching up on copious amounts of silly paperwork and stupid questions. I grabbed the pizza from a local place and stopped by my favorite Japanese market to pick up some sake, along with a few beers. I'm not much on beer, but Naruto seems to like it.
"I'm back." I saw Naruto lying on the couch in the living room, a smile on his face as I entered with pizza and a bag in my hand. I set the articles down on the small table in the center of the comfy area, taking my shoes off before sitting underneath the wooden thing.
We began eating, a beer in the blonde's hand and a cup of sake in mine, as we watched Rush Hour 2. Naruto laughed at every single, silly thing that occurred, while I rolled my eyes and tried not to throw something at the other.
Such an idiot.
When the movie finished, I put another on and threw our trash away. I raised my eyebrows at the number of beers Naruto had already consumed. It was one thing to drink to enjoy, but there was obviously another reason that he was drinking.
I walked over to the bathroom, checking the medicine cabinet for painkillers.
Shit, we're out! He's trying to kill the pain. I should've remember to bring some home with me.
Deciding that it would be best not to mention that I knew he was in pain, I went back and laid on the couch to finish watching the movie.
When it ended, I decided to begin my questioning.
"Naruto." He looked over at me, eyebrow raised. "Where are your parents?" He sucked his teeth.
"Dead. You should know that already, since I recall that you came all the way from Japan to hand me their files once." He took another swig of his fourth beer.
He's getting nervous.
"I never read the file; it's not in the Uchiha blood to protrude where we do not belong." The blonde chuckled. I let a few seconds of silence pass between us. "What happened to them? How did they pass?" He cleared his throat.
"They were assassinated." I stared at his rock-hard expression, no emotions possibly able to come to life in me. He licked his lips before speaking again. "I don't really know who it is, but I do know that they're from Japan. They apparently knew my parents back when they were over there, but I was too young to know who he is. He went by the name of Tobi. I've been searching for this bastard everywhere, but…I've never been able to find him."
No...No...Impossible…
'Today, March 15, we have some terrible news to bring you. Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, CEO and CFO of Uzumaki Imports, have been murdered early this morning. The suspect behind this atrocious death, a man who goes by the name of 'Tobi'. Police and investigators state that whoever this man was, obviously knew the two from previous years and their business back in Kyoto, Japan. The police are not exactly sure of his motive, but there's sure to be more on this story later.' I looked at the TV, listening with interest. It wasn't often that when I watched the American news I heard something concerning Japan.
"Ita-nii, who are Kushina and Minato from Uzumaki Imports?" He looked up from the dishes he was washing, turning the water off to hear me clearly.
"Ah, they're some friends of otosan and okasan. Why?"
"They're dead." The house went silent, mother creeping out from my father's study.
"W-What?" She whispered.
"How did they die?" Itachi asked, a power to his voice.
"Tobi killed them." Right when I finished my sentence, father came bursting through the door with a man. He quickly shut the door behind them, locking every single lock with haste.
"Fugaku! Did you hear about Minato and Kushi-"
"We have to keep quiet about this!" He rushed the strange man into the office, Itachi's eyes narrowing and mother's widening as they passed by them.
"What is he doing here? He's a murderer!" Mother yelled.
"And he is also my brother!" Father spit back.
A terrible dread sprout in me, and I had too much difficulty trying to hide the discomfort from appearing on my face.
"I apologize for your loss…I know how hard it must've been…" He chuckled.
"No, no you don't. But that's okay; that's the best I'll ever get from the high, noble Uchiha you are." I narrowed my eyes as he got up.
Remember that it's just the alcohol talking, not him. He wouldn't say something like that to you normally, and you know it.
I sat in my spot for a while, recalling all of the events that have occurred.
How could I have not realized this sooner?
I sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of my nose.
What do I do about this?
"Merry Christmas." I stuck the box out, a slight blush on my face as I heard a gasp and a squeal of excitement.
"You got me something teme?!" The blonde grinned from ear to ear, ripping the gift open like a little child on Christmas morning. Even though I was born in Japan, my family celebrated Christmas, so I did. "Ahh! You did not!" He squealed again, like a little girl, and I couldn't help but smirk. "How did you even get these? They were sold out within the first few hours of their release!"
"Do not underestimate the power of the Uchiha." He was smiling, his eyes shining at the prize in his hands. I had got him some new Lebrons, since that's all he had been talking about for a while, and I could see that it was well worth it. He hugged me, a gesture I was still uncomfortable with but could deal with.
It's been three weeks since our official pizza date, and two weeks ago, Naruto started working out again. Since then he's been hell-bent on getting back into shape and dancing soon. I mean, anything to please him, right? I do need him happy if my plan is going to work.
"Hey, teme! Thank you!" I grunted, mentally rolling my eyes. How could someone be so happy over such a small gift? "Ah, what? There's something inside them..."
Wait for it...
"What?!" He looked up at me, mouth hung open and eyes wide. His voice became very soft. "Are you serious...?" I nodded. "But...why?"
"I was thinking about what you said, about already being destined to love each other. So I'm wiling to try this out, since it's inevitable." He nodded slowly.
"Then of course. I guess it's about time we admit this, right?" I nodded. "Then, thank you, Sasuke. For the shoes, and for the new boyfriend."
I nodded.
Whatever it takes in order to get rid of him.
Thanks for reading! Please remember to review! It really does mean so much!
