Valka jumped back as the Night Fury kept growling, and she looked back as she felt a hand on her shoulder and saw that it was Stoick.
"Snowcap, stop." Stoick ordered, though Snowcap was being brave and she ignored him, wrapping tighter around her rider.
"Snowcap, be calm, everything is alright." The order came from Caverna and Snowcap went quiet and still, before she let Caverna move.
"She's fascinating." Valka whispered.
"Yeah, she is." Caverna agreed as she petted her dragon's head before Snowcap moved off to join Toothless.
"Caverna..." Valka started, watching as her daughter turned to face her. "Could you ever forgive me?"
Caverna simply shrugged. "I don't know, maybe."
Valka nodded, gad that Caverna had started yelling and was actually answering her in a calm way, and though the fact that she was extremely calm, made Valka feel slightly nervous. After a while of uncomfortable silence, Gobber finally spoke.
"Well, I don't know about you lot, but I'm starved."
Valka looked at them. "Of course, we need some food, Hiccup, Caverna could you both go and catch us all some fish?" She asked the two.
"Of course" Hiccup told her, looking back at his sister. "Come on." He climbed on top of Toothless' back, as Caverna climbed onto her own saddle and the two shot off, their dragons swooping around each other.
When Hiccup was sure that they were alone, he looked back at his sister who had her eyes trained straight ahead, her hands tight on the reigns of Snowcap's saddle, the cutest little frown on her face.
"You should give her a chance you know." Hiccup shouted over.
"Why, she didn't exactly give me one?" Caverna asked him, as she got Snowcap to hover.
Hiccup stopped to hover just above her and he looked at her. "She wanted you to be safe, just like she wanted me to be safe so she stayed away."
"But I wasn't safe!" She told him. "Everyone knew of the stories of that island, and yet she still left me there."
"It's not her fault that you got attacked!" Hiccup told her.
"She left me there!" Caverna shouted.
"Alright, let's just get the fish and get back." Hiccup told her, pinching the top of his nose, between his eyes, before he and Caverna set about catching fish. When they had gotten enough, they headed back to where Hiccup and their mother had been staying and they found Valka, Stoick and Gobber standing around and talking as Valka admired their dragons.
"I told you I had changed their minds." Hiccup told her as he landed Toothless and went straight over to the older Vikings.
Valka looked at him, beaming. "Aye, you did and I'm sorry I didn't believe you." She told him resting a hand on one side of his face, before they looked up as they heard something shake the cave and they found Snowcap had climbed onto the ceiling, Caverna nestled in her wings and both rider and dragon looked rather comfortable as Snowcap closed her eyes and Caverna started to sharpen her daggers.
Valka watched her daughter and she looked over her leather attire and then at her weapons that were strapped there, then she noticed the fur hood that was also attached, before she started to help Stoick and Hiccup make dinner.
As they made dinner, Valka listened to Hiccup as he told her what Berk had become since she had left and in truth she was surprised and kept looking to Stoick for confirmation, which he gave happily.
"Mom, you wouldn't believe it, where we used to make weapons, we now make saddles, wing slings, you name it, and we now make it." Hiccup told her as he got some fish out of a basket and fed them to Toothless and Snowcap who had brought Caverna down so that she could also eat. "You wouldn't believe just how much everything has changed."
"Your son has changed Berk, for the better." Stoick agreed, looking over at Caverna. "And so has your daughter." He told her, as he gently gripped her shoulders, but it caused Valka to jump and she dropped all of the food. As the dragons cleared up the mess of food, Valka looked at Stoick apologetically.
"I'm a little out of practice." She told him sheepishly.
"That's alright; I didn't marry you for your cooking." Stoick told her.
"I hope not." Gobber whispered to Caverna. "Her cooking was almost as bad as yours used to be."
"Once you move back in." Hiccup told her. "With your dragons and ours, Drago won't even stand a chance and everything will be okay."
"Slow down, son." Stoick told him as he watched Valka walk away to get some water and he rested a hand on his son's shoulder. "It's a lot to take in." He told him, pulling Hiccup into him.
"Oh...Right...Gotcha..." Hiccup told him as he moved to sit with his sister and Gobber.
As he sat down, he watched his parents and he suddenly heard his father whistling a tune, and judging from how his mother froze, she knew the tune well.
"Oh, I love this one..." Gobber smiled, leaning back into his dragon, his arms moving around like a conductors.
By now, Stoick had made his own over to Valka and he had taken the jug away from her, just as he actually started to sing.
I'll swim and sail on savage seas
With ne'r a fear of drowning
And gladly ride the waves of life
If you will marry me
Hiccup watched his parents in wonder and amazement as his father sang to her, and he looked at Caverna who was watching the floor as she brushed her hand to Snowcap's scales.
No Scorching sun or freezing cold
Will stop-
"Stop me on my journey!" Gobber had also started singing though when he caught the look that Stoick gave him, he stopped and sat back down. "Sorry."
If you will promise me your heart
And love...
"And love me for eternity." Valka sang alongside him and she kept singing as she moved away.
My dearest one, my darling dear
Your mighty words astound me
But I have no need for mighty deeds when I feel your arms around me
As they started to dance to the song, laughter filled the gaps and Hiccup couldn't keep the smile from his face, though he noticed that Caverna had long since left the group and he saw her walking outside.
Whilst she was outside, she stood on the edge of the ice overlooking the cold dark sea, and she didn't hear it but soon felt something press against her back and she turned around to see Snowcap sat behind her.
"Hey Snow." She whispered, holding her hand out to the dragon, whom bumped her nose against it with a purring noise. "I can always count on you, right?"
Snowcap looked up at her rider and she nodded. "Of course you can, you silly human."
Caverna may not have understood exactly what Snowcap had said to her, but it didn't stop her from wrapping her arms around her dragon's neck and hugging her tightly. "Thank you, Snow."
Snowcap nuzzled her before she suddenly pulled away and sat up straight, sniffing the air.
"Snowcap, what's the matter?" Caverna asked looking at her.
Snowcap moved her head towards the edge of the cliff, trying to get her rider to look and when Caverna did, she stood there in shock. As Caverna was talking to her dragon, a whole fleet of ships had managed to dock on the shore of the island that they were on and already there was an army ready for battle.
"We have to warn everyone." Caverna told her dragon and she pulled her horn from her saddle, just as they were noticed and just as they were fired at, she blew on the horn.
Back inside, Hiccup was having a family moment with his parents, but that soon stopped as he heard the horn and he looked at his dad. "That's Caverna, something's wrong."
Stoick, Valka, Gobber and Hiccup all ran outside, followed by their dragons and they got there just in time to see something hit the ice that was underneath Caverna and Snowcap's feet.
"Caverna!" Hiccup shouted as the ice started to crumble under his sister's feet and he winced at her scream as the ice fell and so did she.
