Chapter XXIII: Plans for War

We met Jiraiya of the Sannin in the last chapter and frankly, he is surprised to see his godson again after such a long time. Now, he is surprised to see that the boy now has a new power added into his arsenal after the disappearance of Itachi Uchiha.
"So I see you wanted to know how I got the sharingan eh? Fine then, but you cannot tell anyone yet. What would you like to know first?" asked Naruto.
"How do you have the power of the sharingan?" asked Jiraiya
"My father never told you but my great grandfather was Uchiha…Madara." Said Naruto as he smirked while jiraiya started moping on the floor with his jaw wide open.
"It can't be! How is that possible?" stuttered Jiraiya while pausing to allow his brain to process the information.
"From what my father told me, Madara-jiji didn't die when he battled Hashirama. Years later after the birth of my father and when Madara's wife passed, he left my father in the village along with Fugaku Uchiha." Explained Naruto.
'What do you mean from what your father told you?" asked a curious Jiraiya
"I don't really know how he did it but when I woke my sharingan up at a young age, he appeared in front of my mindscape and explained everything."
"Looks like this kid is a genius," thought Jiraya.
"Why didn't you find out about any of this!?" snapped Naruto. "What I mean is, that rasengan he made was derived from the ball of the tailed beast. He has seen it with his sharingan and even Itachi had detected it inside of me and couldn't imagine how it worked. It took quite a bit of effort to make this." He then showed his perfect creation of the rasengan to his godfather.
"Who taught you how to do the Rasengan?" asked Jiraiya.
"No one. I just read my father's scrolls that he left behind so that I can use it against my enemies, including Orochimaru. Luckily I still have the sharingan that Itachi gave to me after he murdered his family. Besides with a little raikiri added as a combination attack, I only plan to use the rasengan to destroy something." Grinned Naruto.
Jiraiya's face paled at that response as he sees naruto's hand sparkle in electricity. "What kind of monster are you? And are you sure you can take down Orochimaru with that raikiri?"
"I am a fox of course!" replied Naruto as he started laughing, leaving Jiraiya gaping like crazy.
"You are certainly full of surprises, but then you don't surprise me anymore. Now then, tell me what was that about Tsunade being your grandmother?" asked Jiraiya.
"Ah yes about that, she was my mother's mother. You know her better as Kushina Uzumaki right? Her real last name is Senju and she is the daughter of Senju Tsunade." Explained Naruto.
"Tsunade never realized that she had a daughter after her death and I never realized that it was your birth mother Kushina. That would make you a member of the Senju clan in addition to being a part of the Uchiha clan." Finished Jiraiya.
"Pretty much. Do you know where Tsunade is right now? The old man requested that I would bring her back if she still plans to make me a part of her family again. That is, if she still thinks of me as her godson."
"Good luck with that, she lost everything that was precious to her and left Konoha for good. I've tried to talk her out of it, but she refuses to listen. At this point, it is up to you to convince her to come back to the village. How about we go find her after the chunin exams are over? Anyhow, you got any more surprises for me?" said Jiraiya.
"I don't have anything else. So will you train me now, baka ero-sennin?" said Naruto.
"Please do not call me that. But I can teach you a couple of things. Follow me to a new spot." Said Jiraiya.
As the gang moved towards a different part of the forest without any distractions, Jiraiya makes a few hand signs before slamming his palm on the ground. Once a puff of smoke erupted, a toad appeared with a large scroll in his tongue.
"A summoning contract eh? I seemed to have one already." Said Naruto while Jiraiya's eyes twitched,
"Which one do you have?" asked Jiraiya.
"Foxes." Replied Naruto
"I don't think there are fox contracts." Stated Jiraiya
Naruto quickly bit his thumb and flashed a through a series of hand seals before slamming his hand on the ground. As the smoke erupted and cleared, Kinto suddenly appeared in front of them. "This is Kinto, my tracking fox." Both of them gave Jiraiya their signature foxy grin towards the godfather.
"Where did you get it?" asked Jiraiya
"Kyuubi gave it to me." Said Naruto.
"Fine then. Let's start with something easier. The next couple of jutsus are of my own creation. Use your sharingan since it is easier for me to memorize the seals." Said Jiraiya as the blonde activated his eyes.
"Nippou – Hari Jizou (Needle Guardian)" – said Jiraiya as his hair immediately grew out a formed shell around his body protecting him.
"That was so cool, I wonder what my hair would look like. However, since I am blonde, I don't know if this will work." Said Naruto as he performed the same technique as Jiraya but was unsuccessful. After the third try, Naruto could ly do this effortlessly and can only rely on it for combat purposes.
"Good, just remember, this jutsu only protects from B-ranks and below." Explained Jiraiya. Also, if you intend to rely on this jutsu for defense, let your hair grow a bit like mine so it will be quicker for you to use. Now then, shall I check upon your rasengan to see if it is up to the standards. Try to clash it with mine." Said Jiraiya. " I need to see if the compression, rotation, and the general power is strong enough."
At that moment, Naruto raised an eyebrow before dashing forward with their palms facing one another and yelled, "Rasengan!" at the same time. Both of the spheres clashed against one another since both are challenging for supremacy. The confrontation continued for a few seconds until both of the spheres exploded, causing both Jiraiya and Naruto to fly in opposite directions. Both managed to regain their senses as they landed on the ground without any problems.
"Your Rasengan is really good. Who are you facing in the finals by the way?" asked Jiraiya.
"The 'last' Uchiha survivor." Chuckled Naruto.
"This will be one hell of a ride for Sasuke when he finds out that he will not be the last surviving Uchiha clan member for very long." Laughed Jiraiya.
"Ero-sennin, you trained my father right? Do you know how he trained the hirashin?" asked Naruto.
"What do you mean? Oh wait a minute! Don't tell me you can use it as well?" asked Jiraiya.
"You I finished my version of it a few months ago, but it was hard for me to do multiple jumps in quick succession because I tend to crash into something." Explained Naruto.
"Your completed version of the shiki formula, how good are you with the seals?" asked Jiraiya.
"Level 10 I assume." Stated Naruto.
"Your father used to train by placing those seals on various places making it look like a circuit. I believe he also trained his agility and flexibility as well. He also had the same problem when he first started the training regiment.
"Thanks I will keep that in mind, but I have been wondering, do you know who my god mother really is?" asked Naruto.
"Your godmother? I believe it was Hyuuga Hana since she and Hiashi were best friends of your parents." Explained Jiraiya.
"Hinata-chan's mother right? I should have known." Said Naruto.
"What makes that so surprising?" continued Jiraiya.
"Hinata is my girlfriend." Stated Naruto and that sent Jiraiya into a fit of giggles, making Naruto's eyes twitch in embarrassment.
"Who knew you were such a smooth talker! Boy, this is going to make me a lot richer, just like your parents." Smiled Jiraiya.
"What do you mean bu that?" asked a confused Naruto.
"Who do you think wrote all of these amazing books that your sensei and grandfather keep reading?" said Jiraiya as he grabbed a familiar orange book from his clothes. "One of them is based on your parents."
Naruto couldn't stand that book as he clenched his fist, ready to punch the pervert sky-high.
"You really spied on my parents?" said Naruto with a stern voice.
Jiraiya could only nod at that response since he was quite proud of his accomplishments.
"If you ever do that to me and Hinata, we promise a lifetime of pain for you by shoving a rasengan and a jyuuken up your ass." Warned Naruto.
"Calm down, it was a joke… or not." Laughed Jiraiya.
"Are you really a sannin?" asked Naruto since he was getting more and more suspicious of his godfather's behavior.
"Forget it, just continue with the training." Said Jiraiya. "Have you thought about using the kyuubi's power?"
"I can already control the kyyubi's power." Said Naruto.
"And what do you mean by that?" asked Jiraiya.
"When I was five years old, he opned the cage sot aht I can access all of the fox's chakra and that was how I was able to control him.
"I see."
There were only a few people that could control the power of the bijuu since there were the Yagura and the sanbi Jinchuuriki and Killer Bee the Hachibi Jinchuuriki.
"That's beside the point. You don't control them since you have to be in sync with them." Explained Naruto.
"Are you telling you are trying to be friends with them?
"Pretty much, and I am trying to set him free since I am able to talk to Minato within my mindscape because it was not his fault that the monster attacked 14 years ago. Besides, he does not deserve to be locked up." Said Naruto.
"you are not that crazy. I can tell that you got guts because it takes strength and courage to control a bijuu." Said Jiraiya.
"Exactly, when I was born, my mom was being attacked and the kyuubi was removed from her and then he used the sharingan to control him and rampaged across Konoha." Explained Naruto.
"But Madara was able to control him right?" asked Jiraiya.
"According to the history books, my father knew it wasn't madara because he can easily recognize the chakra signature." Said Naruto.
"That makes more sense since your father was a seal master because there was no way the seal can break him. However, I wasn't planning on telling you this but I see you are more than mature enough to understand. There are a group of S-Ranked criminals called the Akatsuki and they are after the bijuu." Continued Jiraiya.
"Why can't life be simpler for me? My life since been has been S-Ranked missions since I am hated by almost everyone and now, I am chased by Kage level ninjas." Sighed Naruto.
"I know that is rough for you, but you got to understand that there are people that cares about you. You have me, the hokage, your girlfriend and the village clan heirs and their sons and daughters as friends. Cling to those that do care about you and ignore those naysayers." Concluded Jiraiya.
"I guess so." Said Naruto.
"What is your dream?" continued Jiraiya.
"It's to become the best Hokage." Smiled Naruto.
"You have the same dream as your parents, but I can do my best to guide you there." Thought Jiraiya. "Don't give up, you need to fight to get what you need."
"I never give up because that is my ninja way. And am not about to let Orochimaru take the lives of those that are precious to me." Finished Naruto with renewed vigor as he jumped onto his feet and walked off towards the sunset, leaving Jiraiya to look back at him with a smile since the boy reminded so much of his parents since he had the father's intellect and the mother's scary personality.
"Let's go then. Dinner is on me." Said Jiraiya.
"How about some ramen?" asked Naruto.
"Can you eat something else other than raman?" said Jiraiya indignantly.
"Sure, mmaybe I can give it up for now, but what did you have in mind?" sighed Naruto.
"You will find out soon enough." Said Jiraiya as they walked out of the forest and into the village. A short time later, both boys arrived at a fancy restaurant with western cuisine since this could gie Naruto the strength he needs to fight Orochimaru later on. Furthermore, there was a lot more food than Naruto could have imagined since they were much more nutritious than Ramen. At that moment, Naruto couldn't wait any longer as the reservations were set and both were seated at a table.
"So, this is the place you had in mind eh?" said Naruto.
"I told you so. This place is an all you can eat buffet since the stuff here is a lot better than ramen because that sort of food doesn't do well for the body. You need to eat more veggies instead of the greasy, oily stuff. Besides, didn't your parents tell you to always eat healthy? Well I have a responsibility to keep for you and starting now, you must eat your veggies." Said Jiraiya
"Man, you are just like my father sometimes. Always bossing me around with food." Sighed Naruto.
"Oh, don't be like that. Besides, I may not be able to replace Minato, but I will certainly do what I can to get you stronger, all right?" smiled Jiraiya as he ruffled the boy's hair. Furthermore, Naruto didn't have any other choice but to temporarily change his diet since he needs it to fight off the Sound shinobi during the invasion.
With Hinata and Naruto
One week after the second phase of the exams were completed, everyone was busy training or gathering information on their enemies while Naruto was still training with his godfather Jiraiya. Although he was still a pervert, Naruto still had to admit that the man was very strong. Furthermore, Naruto didn't need to prepare for his match against Sasuke because they both favored fire jutsus and relied on sharingan.
As for Hinata, she was still training with Kurenai since Naruto didn't know much of what she was doing and for a good reason too. After all, there is a chance that she might end up facing him in the finals since there are a few surprises in store for her blonde. Furthermore, both Naruto and Hinata were going to be facing against their clan members since both are sharingan and byakugan users. Furthermore, Naruto remembered the details of the fights since one of the nice perks of having a sharingan is to grant the user some photographic memory since that is the reason why the jutsus are copied. Furthermore, Neji and Hinata are considered taijutsu users because one of them is also a suiton user. Fuu is a bug and Suiton user, but also the Nanabi Jinchuuriki as well. As for Yugito, she is more of a fire user and is very flexible at Taijutsu as well. The rest of them are sand, wind, and shadow users except that we don't know what kankuro uses.
Back at naruto's place, he was exhausted from training as his girlfriend wrapped herself around her boyfriend's arms while her back was towards his chest. They were relaxing after a long day of training.
"How did your training go?" asked Hinata
"It was fine, I had the toad pervert help me sign the contract to summon frogs later on during the invasion. What about you?" said Naruto.
"I had Asuma help me on daggers and trench knives with the combination of Taijutsu" replied Hinata
"Daggers, eh? They suit you perfectly, my beautiful and deadly lady." Said Naruto as Hinata faced him and kissed the boy before placing her head on his chest.
"Flattery won't get you anywhere." Said Hianta
"Oh come now! You are beautiful and it is true." Replied Naruto as she lightly blushed.
"Thank you, but now I need some pointers on lightning manipulation." Replied Hinata.
"Has the leaf exercises given you a chance to make them crumble?" asked Naruto.
Hinata nodded at the response. "Good, now you need to be able to channel big amounts of your ration chakra since they can be applied on rocks. Furthermore, it would be harder to channel chakra through because you need to increase the output amount you put into the rocks until they break." Explained Naruto.
"How is the pervert treating you?" asked Hinata. Naruto then laughed before telling her girlfriend about his godfather and how he was able to write all that smut that Kakashi likes so much. 'When you have an idiot of a godfather that only focuses on research instead of training me, you will get to know him better. Besides, he taught me a few Katon jutsus since it is the only nature we share together." Said Naruto.
Hinata could only giggle at that response and looked at him in comfort.
"You noticed that your parents were my parents' best friends." Chuckled Naruto.
"I wondered what my father saw in Hiashi." Mused Naruto.
"You know, my father wasn't really that much of a bad person. I was so young back then and my father was so kind to me. After my mother's death, Hiashi became cruel and cold. Furthermore, the elders didn't help me that much and eventually, I got kidnapped and as a result, Neji's father was dead also and his body was delivered to Kumo as payment. I was blamed for that guy's death and if I was stronger, I wouldn't be in this mess." Said Hinata as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Hinata, whatever happened to you isn't your fault. You were just six years old and no one could have expected you to defend yourself against a powerful jonin." Explained Naruto as he eased her worries.
"You did kill him to save me." Continued Hinata in a weak voice.
"It was pure luck, okay? I had my sharingan and Kurama to help me and without them I would be dead in an instant. Besides, he didn't kill me because of my bloodline." Whispered Naruto.
It was true, Hinata meant the world to Naruto and people like him no matter where they live, they grow in a world of pain and suffering and hate. To live in an environment like this won't be good for anyone unless you are a child growing up. Furthermore, Naruto rarely saw any kindness or love since his friends are very protective of him because they gave him something that they never had. Furthermore, Sakura never showed that much love or kindness when she met the blonde for the first time and always treated him poorly. However, as time passed, she and Ino warmed up to Naruto and they promised to keep him safe no matter what happens.
"Are you feeling better now, Hime?" asked Naruto as he wiped the tears from his girlfriend's eyes. Hinata nodded at that response and realized that she has finally found comfort and safety in her boyfriend.
Suddenly, a poof of smoke appeared in the middle of room where they were and it appeared to be a fox.
"hello there kyofu." Said Naruto. 'So what did you find out?"
"It appears that Kabuto is indeed working for Orochimaru since I found them talking in the forest of death" said Kyofu
"I told you that snake-teme smelled like snakes." Yelled Kurama.
"Figures, so it appears that we got a formidable opponent on our hands." Sighed Naruto since he would be informing the Hokage about this later on. "Is there anything else?"
"I also heard Kabuto talking to the Sand Jonin about starting the invasion during the finals." Said kyofu. Naruto nodded at that response before yelling, "WHAT THE FUCK!?"
"Can you keep it down!?" shouted Kyofu as he nursed his sensitive ears.
"You heard everything clearly from them?" asked Naruto.
"No lies." Replied the fox.
"What time is it now?"
"It's only seven, why?" asked a confused Hinata.
"The old man should still be in his office. We need to warn him immediately." Said Naruto as he and Hinata both picked up their jackets before letting kyofu jump onto his shoulder as they left the apartment and headed over to the tower.
At the Hokage's Tower
The Hokage was still enjoying his paperwork as usual since the shadow clone trick has improved the old man's life over the years. Now, the old man was sitting back and smoking his pipe as usual while reading the icha icha books as he walked around the village. Soon, the door was opened with so much force that it nearly went flying off the wall. Soon the ANBU could hear it as they jumped in front of the Hokage in a defensive stance with their kunais drawn.
"For Kami's sake, it's only my surrogate grandson Naruto. Please stand down." Said the Hokage. Soon, the Anbu retreated back to their original positions while Shikaku lets go of his shadow. "Is there a reason why you barged into my office like that?"
"Yup, the sand shinobi are definitely going to invade our village during the finals of the chunin exams." Said Naruto.
"What?" asked the Hokage.
"I said that the Sand is planning to invade our village during the chunin exams." Continued Naruto in his calm voice.
"What makes you think that?" asked the Hokage as he directed his attention towards the blonde.
"I summoned Kyofu here since he is a spy fox. During the second round of the chunin exams, I asked him to check on Kabuto Yakushi since he had jonin level chakra reserves and claimed that he had failed the exam six times. Kyofu definitely found him talking to Orochimaru yesterday and he did the same with the sand jonin about the invasion plans." Explained Naruto.
"Are you sure about this, Kyofu?" asked the Hokage in his serious tone.
"Yes, Hokage-sama." Replied the fox
"INU," said the Hokage and in front of him, one of the ANBU with the dog mask appeared. "Summon Shikaku and Jiraiya immediately."
The ANBU niodded and vanished immediately.
"Guess you won't need my assistance for now, only man." Said Naruto as he tried to leave.
"Hang on Naruto. You need to stay here since we may need to know other things that Kyofu has found and you need to hear this due to the fact that you brought it to our attention." Said the Hokage.
Not even 10 minutes later, Jiraiya and Shikaku were assembled in the Hokage's office with Naruto still there on the couch.
"Welcome everyone, I am so sorry to have interrupted your little time off but the situation might be more dire than I first thought. Naruto has claimed that the Sand Village has allied with the sound to try and invade our village during the finals of the chunin exams." Said the Hokage. Everyone's eyes went wide at Naruto since he was feeling a litte insecure.
"Are you sure about this, Naruto-san? That village has been our ally and why would they join with the sound? Where is the proof?" asked Shikaku. Naruto then told him about what Kabuto said to orochimaru and Baki the sand jonin.
"So troublesome, no wonder this village isn't safe anymore." Grumbled Shikaku.
"Naruto might be right about this. According to my spy network, the wind daimyo has been giving us more missions for our country that could seriously cripple the sand village. Even they are desperate enough to try and attack our village. Any background information on Kabuto?"
"Nothing much other than him being the adopted son of our chief medic since he was found abandoned in an empty battleground a few years ago." Said the Hokage.
"Should we let Ibiki interrogate him?" asked Jiraiya
"Not necessary. If he is likely missing in action, they might invade straight away without giving us time to prepare." Finished the Hokage. He then noticed that Naruto was trying to say something but he was feeling a little nervous since this was a meeting about a war starting soon.
"Something you want to tell us, Naruto-kun?" asked the Hokage.
"Remember when I brought Gato from the Mist village? Well, before I trapped his corpse in the scroll, I interrogated hgim and he said he used to be a businessman for the sound village and his master was orochimaru. So it is possible that both sand and sound had formed an alliance with each other to attack us since baki was convinced that we were the enemy when their true foe is right under their noses."
"It's true, I've even heard of the new village formed a few months ago and there were sound genin competing in the match." Explained Jiraiya
"Also its clearly madness to let the Ichibi Jinchurriki to participate in the chunin exams when he is clearly mentally unstable since Shukaku can easily send terror and destruction on our home soil." Said Naruto.
"The brat is right. I've heard rumors of the sand brat and as long as he is unstable, he will no doubt unleash his killer monster." Finished jiraiya.
"So we've come to an agreement that everyone will most likely invade right? Well then let's start planning right away. I will recall the shinobis that are out on missions right now. What about the evacuation shelters?" asked the Hokage.
"They are prepared but we need to stock up on supplies just to make sure. We cannot evacuate earlier since we will most likely be vulnerable to enemy assault. My strategy here would be to launch a surprise counter attack once the invasion begins. Also, I will need Jiraiya's help to seal away gaara's beast and make sure that my technique prevents him from going on a rampage. Second, I will need to let Naruto talk with Baki and inform him about the danger that he is in. Besidesm our objective is to secure the academy, hospital, the IT department, and the ANBU station." Continued shikaku.
"Of course, but I also have some barrier seals that can be used in our attack since they can create a dome around a building to protect it from damage. Also, people inside can move freely. But for someone to enter, we need somebody inside to open the barrier." Said Naruto.
"Barrier seals?" asked Jiraiya
"Yup, they used to belong to my clan since I studied them and a chunin can power the shield for a day. Their strength is directly related to the chakra powering them. Therefore, Iruka can create a barrier that will hold anything below S-ranked techniques." Finished Naruto.
"Looks like we got ourselves a brilliant strategist. No wonder my son trained you so well in Shogi. Such a troublesome blonde." Said Shikaku.
"I do my best. Besides, it's not like I am going to get everyone killed here." Smiled Naruto.
"well then, I need you and Naruto to prepare the seals around all the major buildings during these last few weeks. Be discreet okay? And also, make sure you visit Gaara and Baki and convince them to join us in the battle against Orochimaru." Said the Hokage as both nodded at their objective.
"Now that the evacuation plans are set, what about the Shukaki\u?" asked the Hokage.
"Me and jiraiya can handle that." Said Naruto.
"Are you sure about that?" asked the Hokage
"If there is a chance that me and Gaara will face each other in combat, I will let Sasuke step aside and ask him to combine our powers in order to seal shukaku tight enough so that he doesn't run amok around the village." Explained Naruto.
"This is going to be dangerous Naruto, are you sure you can handle this?" continued the Hokage.
"Of course." Said Naruto as he activated his EMS and gave everyone shivers. They could feel the powers behind his eyes since this is the true power of Madara's sharingan.
"When did you have that power anyway?" asked jiraiya.
"Itachi must have advanced his powers into my eyes when I was a genin, but I will tell you more about it later." Finished Naruto.
"you are taking a big risk here. I will trust you but I will have your godfather and Inoichi on standby if necessary." Explained the hokage.
"Don't worry old man. Have I ever let you down?" asked Naruto.
"No, but remember you are facing off against a powerful bijuu that not even any of us can defeat." Said the Hokage.
"I am the one with the most amount of tails." Smirked Naruto.
"Very well, with all the arrangements set, please gather the rest of the clan hands to inform them of naruto's plan and be very discreet about this." Said the Hokage as everyone dispersed from the room. This was going to be an interesting battle.
The next morning, Naruto and Jiraiya walked around the Namikaze estate and walked towards the library since it was located in the basement and was protected by various amounts of seals to prevent unauthorized access to people. Naruto placed his hand on the seal and it seemed to recognize his chakra and blood. As it glowed, the door opened allowing them inside.
"These are the seals that I wanted to show you." Said Naruto as he placed them in Jiraiya's hand.
"Such high quality seals, I expected nothing less from the Uzumaki clan." Said Jiraiya.
Naruto then summoned a hundred of his clones and asked them to replicate the seal by picking up a piece of paper and wrote on them. Five minutes later, everyone of the clones have copies of the barrier seal.
"Such speed." Said Jiraiya and Naruto chuckled.
"Let's go, ero-sennin." Said Naruto.
Jiraiya twitched at the response. "Please stop calling me that,"
Naruto and Jiraiya immediately shunshined towards the academy and all the other major locations around Konoha and placed the seals on them before walking towards the shelters to wrap up their mission plan. "Looks like I will need to talk to Iruka about the arrangements to activate the barriers." Said Jiraiya.
"It's time for me to visit him." Thought Naruto as he shunshined towards the hospital.
