The Morning before the full moon
Kate's POV
I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I quickly closed my eyes out of the pain I received. I got up hearing my joints pop into place then stretched hearing twelve cracks from my back. I looked down from my den to see Lone fighting his own shadow. Blake was next to him doing the same then they switched shadows and destroyed them simultaneously. Then I saw Mary versus Menendez she was using earth while he was just blocking her shots.
Everyone was training at the same time. Getting their skills to their full potential. "Ah I see you're awake" Menendez said as he blocked Mary's last shot "Great job Mary! You're ready"
Mary smiled and walked towards Lone and Blake. She sat down behind Lone as him and Blake were still training each other. "So you think we're ready Menendez?" I asked while getting his attention
"Only time will tell if we are or not" He said "Come… take a walk with me" I happily accepted his request and we walked out of the den.
We both walked towards the feeding grounds where I saw wolves and werewolves training against or with each other. First the wolves were practicing their counter moves and their fighting tactics on taking down werewolves. Then the werewolves were training on how to take down multiple enemies at the same time. There I saw my father in the middle watching his pack train for the big fight.
"We're doing good. I just hope we can end Diablo's rain" I said
"Well hope is sometimes false. We are still missing a crucial element to complete the whole team" Menendez said which brought my spirit down "But… I must admit… I didn't expect your pack to so willing to fight in this war."
"Well they mess with one of us… They mess with all of us" I said with pride in my voice "We are all family and we never turn our backs on a member of the family"
"I respect you and your family. I just hope that these wolves who are risking their lives for this pack can finish what we started." He said with a worrying voice
"Don't worry Menendez. We can do this and we will pull through" I said reassuring him.
"My question is how are you doing in your training?"
"I'm doing good. Since I'm not a werewolf training was a bit more hard on me but it wasn't something that couldn't get through." I said
"I just wanted to ask… Why did you chose not to be a werewolf?" Menendez asked with a small amount of curiosity
I looked at him "I don't think Humphrey would want me to go through what he did" I said "Besides I think we could win this war with both regular and werewolves" Menendez looked at me with a weird look. I became a little uncomfortable by the way he looked at me.
"Okay well I believe you may be right or you may be crazy." He said jokingly "But we will see tonight which Kate is the real and which is the fake"
I looked at him with more confusion than ever before as he walked away. As he was out of site I just started walking to the feeding grounds to get some breakfast. I walked passed my dad, who was helping some wolves with their takedowns. "Hi honey I see you're up and ready to train"
"Yeah I'm just going to get some breakfast before I start" I said as I was walking towards a caribou carcass
"Ok don't take too long. We still need to practice on some stuff" he said happily
I started to eat but, as I was eating I felt a strange feeling in my stomach. All the sudden I ran to a bush and puked what I had just eaten. After I was done my mom ran over to me
"Kate is everything ok?" She asked in a worried voice and looked me over. She checked my head and everything. "Well nothing seems out of place your temperature is fine so I have no idea what could be wrong?"
"I'm thinking its something in the caribou" I said
"Honey… you ok? You're sweating like crazy" My mom asked as she looked at me attentively and I notice I was sweating bullets
"Yeah I'm fine. Its just… that… um… its really hot out here" I said as I waved my paw in front of my face to give myself some air
My mom looked at me with a questioning look. "I don't think you should train today. You look terrible. Seriously I think you need to stay back and watch not fight"
"B-But…"
"Kate if you are sick you will hurt more wolves than help" she said with a stern look
"Okay" I said defeated by my moms logic
"Good. Now why don't you go to the den and rest a bit"
I reluctantly got and started to my parents' den. Once I was there I went to the back and layed down. I then heard steps coming up the hill leading to the den and then I see Lilly run in "Kate! I have great news!" She said excited
"What is it Lilly?" I asked with a little annoyance in my voice. I still was angry that I couldn't train and possibly not fight in this war. I then turn my attention back to Lilly still waiting for what was the good news.
"Humphrey is coming back for the fight!" She said
I looked at like she was going insane 'Was she telling the truth? … No… she not there can't be a way that Humphrey is coming back. He's dead. The dead don't come back to life it is impossible.' I thought to myself "Lilly are you ok?" I asked
"Yeah I'm fine. But don't you think that its great that Humphrey is coming back to help us?" She asked
There she went again with saying Humphrey was coming back "LIlly… Humphrey isn't coming back." I said
"No Kate believe me he is. He told me."
"Lilly I think you're still upset that you lost your best friend but you have to let him go ok. He's dead and there's nothing we can do about that but to finish what he started" I said trying to shake the thought of Humphrey coming back
"Kate he is coming back. I'm not making this up. I'm telling the fucking truth!" She yelled. That was the first time I heard her curse. I was taken by surprise but I knew she would do it someday.
Now Lilly was getting angry and frankly I was getting angry too "Lilly calm the fuck down! You need to face that Humphrey is fucking dead and the dead can't come back to life!"
"You are not fucking listening you stupid bitch!" Lilly yelled "He told me directly that he was coming back to fight for us"
"No Lilly the dead are dead. They will never come back even if God himself allowed it they will never come back so shut up because I am already fed up with all the shit is going on"
"Fine then" she said walking away with anger and annoyance 'She is so stupid' they both thought simultaneously at each other.
Lilly's POV
As I was leaving she saw Lone and Blake talking. I decided to sneak up on them and went behind a bush. I was down wind so my scent was not smelt by either werewolf
"Hey Blake I have been thinking do you have anyone you have an eye on?" Lone asked to Blake
"Well... yeah I do" he said
"Really! Who?" Lone asked
"Well this wolf, her name is Tiegra" he explained
"No way! she is a good friend of mine and an even better friend of Mary's" Lone said with a smile "I think I can get a good word in for you" he said winking
"Thanks man. Now I have something to look forward to when the war is over" Blake said
I decided to reveal myself to them. I walked out of the bushes "So I hear you like Tiegra" I said getting their attention
Blake looked at me with wide eyes and Lone just smiled at me. "I knew you were near"
"Wait how did you know?" I asked surprised that Lone knew I was watching them
"Perimeter shadow wires literally invisible to the naked eye but can detect even the smallest of movement of bacteria to well any animal that is known to exist."
"Hmm you're really good."
"I know but I feel you have something that you know that you need to tell me but don't know how to explain it to me well so that I won't freak out. Am I right?"
I nodded and told him that I saw Humphrey somehow and that only omega's can see him and how he explained what he was doing to come back.
I was right to say that because Lone almost freaked because a deal with Jackie always has a catch and it could just hurt Humphrey in the end.
"Well at least he is coming back"
"Hmm" Lone thought "Well at least he is coming back. I am happy to hear that." Lone said and smiled
"Hey Lilly. I can see anger still in you. Please don't stay angry at Kate. She is really only sad and you telling her that he was coming back was hurting her and it gave her false hope that she turned to anger."
"What?" I said then I just tilted my head. Then figured out that it was true at what Lone was saying
"Can you excuse me for a sec" Lone asked me. I just nodded.
Lone ran off and did random flips and was full of energy he even did a power jump using his shadow as a boost when he came down the crater was small and shallow as he did not put much power into it.
I walked off and became my usual bubbly self as I walked to my place near the river happily. "I always feel at home here." I said with a small smile "I wonder if I became a werewolf would my element be water or not?"
"Well let me see" a voice that was familiar to her said
"Menendez? "
"Ahh so you know me" he said
"Duh I met you once before"
"Hey I am old. I forget things." He said as he chuckled a little
"So you can help me become a werewolf?"Lilly asked
"Well no but I can let you control your element."
"What am I?" I asked
He looked directly into my eyes and he saw memories "My god! You are water! You can help us defeat Diablo!"
"Well that is good to hear" said a voice
Lone was behind a bush and stepped forward "Lone how did you get here?"
"Shadow travel" he said
"Fucking hell you're quick" said Blake as I saw him running in
"Why didn't you shadow travel like Lone did?" Menendez and I said
"What! We can do that?" He said in total surprisement
All I heard was a *smack* and I saw Lone face pawed himself "Ow" he said quietly "Anyway, yes you just jump into a shadow"
"Really" he said jumping into Lone's shadow and making Lone slap himself. Lone stopped him by jumping into Lilly's making Blake appear as he went down into hers. He jumped out and smacked Blake
"You are an ass sir"
"Guilty as charged" Blake said with a grin on his face. Then they both fell to the ground laughing their heads off. Then they opened up a shadow hole and back flipped into it.
"They're really weird" I said to Menendez
"You have no idea" said Menendez. Then we fell to the ground laughing. After the good laugh we then got down to business.
"So can you turn me into one of them?" I asked
"Yes but I will warn you. Its going to hurt." He said with a worried face "You're sure you want to do this?"
"I'm sure. I'll do anything to help my pack" I said with pride
"Ok then. I need you to stay still. Getting bit is a bad part but turning for the first time is the worst" He said. I sat down and closed my eyes to brace myself for the pain that was waiting for me.
