Shadow Time! ^-^
Dry your tears chapter 17
Amy's p.o.v
Ruby. Ruby is what I see, what i'm seeing. It becomes clearer the wider my eyes open. Ruby red eyes. Staring me down almost as if they were ready to devour me. They were gorgeous, I admit that. They must belong to the one who swept me away. What was his name...Sh...Shadow? I believe it was. I wonder-
"Are you gonna sit up?"
"W-What?"
"You've been staring at me for about half a minute. Are you going to sit up?"
"Y-Yeah, sure." Sitting up, I backed away. I looked at my surroundings. We were in a broad grassy meadow. My heart pounded as I suddenly remembered why I was here with him.
"He's dead."
"Wh..what?!"
"That guy. He's dead. Too many burns, paramedics were too late. They know the story. It was put in as self defense. You have nothing to worry about."
"I...I killed a man.."
"He was trying to rape you-"
"I-I-I killed...a man."
"Come on, don't-"
"I KILLED A MAN! I KILLED HIM!" Falling back in tears, I began to have an emotional break down. I..this wasn't happening. No..this was a dream. I had to wake up. I had to! I began hitting myself over and over. Shadow gripped my wrist and held me down.
"Amy, STOP!"
"No, no, no! NO, I COULDN'T HAVE! I DIDN'T MEAN TO! I SHOULD HAVE JUST LET HIM HAVE HIS OWN WAY!"
"NO! YOU DIDN'T DESERVE THAT! IT WAS SELF DEFENSE!"
"GET AWAY FROM ME! I'M A MONSTER!"
"AMY STOP!"
"LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"AMY-"
BAM!
I began to tear up as I kicked the dark hedgehog away from me. I screamed as I saw blood dripping down his nose. "I-I'm so sorry! I-"
"Go."
"Shadow, I-"
"JUST GO! GET OUT OF HERE! YOU WANNA RUN SO BAD WHEN I'M TRYING TO HELP, SO GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!"
Holding my moist cheeks, I sobbed as I ran away as fast as I could. Where was I gonna go, what am I gonna do?! Tripping on a stump, I screamed in pain as my ankle throbbed. I curled myself up as a few winds began to blow. The temperature was already dropping. I ended a life...what would people think of me now...
Getting up, I then tumbled down a hill. At the bottom was a frozen lake. Crawling up to it, I ran my hand over the thin ice. Freezing water like this...could kill a person. Looking down at my hands, I nodded my head. A life for a life. Scooching out onto the ice, I steadied myself on my feet. I shut one eye as the ice cracked a little. I guess this was it.
"Boy do you have problems."
Not bothering to look to see who it was, I stayed silent as the same old man looked at me from the grass. "You didn't kill that man willingly ya know."
"I...I took his life. I must do the same to my own...I have to!"
"I thought we agreed that you would try changing. You're being a loose twig again."
"Maybe I was meant-"
"Don't."
"..."
"Is this how you're going to go? Wanna know how I see it? What would be in the headlines? A girl who was about to get raped used self defense against a man trying to molest her. However, the girl was found dead under a frozen lake feeling she had to die because she fought for her innocence. Do you know how ignorant that sounds?"
"I don't care. I took that man from his family. Who says I deserve to live?!"
"I do. Your mother would have. People care for you, but you choose to be blind against it."
"No one cares."
"Oh. So how do you think Cream will feel when she finds out her best friend since diapers killed herself because she felt that she had to die? Because she felt that no one cared for her? What would your father have said? Think about it. Killing yourself won't make you any better than that man back there."
"What...what happened to you?! The wise old man always saying smart things!"
"He's still here, but will you be?"
Cream's p.o.v
My eyes widened as Alicia finished telling me what happened with Amy. She must be feeling HORRIBLE right now. Knowing her, shes probably blaming herself for the whole incident.
"Krise went looking for her. Some black and red...thing swept her away. I'm sure shes okay Cream."
Grunting, I sat up and hopped out of bed. "C-Cream! Where are you going?!"
"My friend needs me."
Shadow's p.o.v
Wiping the blood from my nose, I began feeling a slice of guilt. Maybe I was too harsh. She was traumatized after all. Standing up, I scanned the perimeter. She was no where in sight. In her state, who knows what she'll do. I then sped off through the fields.
"I'm coming Amy."
Amy's p.o.v
"I can't."
"You can. Get off of that ice Amy. Now."
Tears verged on my eyes as I remained still. Was it worth it? I haven't seen my purpose in life yet. Does that mean give up, or keep searching? I can't tell. I...I can't tell. I don't know. My heart skipped a beat as a few more cracks formed. Make a quick decision Amy. Time isn't on your side...
"Amy! Now!"
Running for land, I screamed as I plummeted into the freezing water. I gasped for breath, but only inhaled water. panicking, I began sinking to the bottom.
Shadow's p.o.v
Where are you. Come on...where. My ear twitched as I heard the faint sound of splashing. Speeding over, I looked over the hill to see a hole in the frozen lake. Amy...
Jumping down, I dived into the piercing cold liquid. I can't see her. It's too dark. Swimming closer to the bottom, my arm brushed up against something. I lost air as I gasped at the sight. It was her. Pulling her by the arm, I swam to the surface. As soon as we made it to land, I began pumping on her chest. Please...she had to wake up. She can't be dead...she can't. She wasn't breathing.
Hoisting her over my shoulder, I ran. I didn't know where I was going, but I ran. She needed help. Anybody, somebody had to help her. If not, she was going to die.
