A/N: I haven't written anything in a long while. It's probably because my muse and the plot bunnies decided to take a vacation. I like to think they went to Disney World. Anyway, I am starting to get ideas again and I am going to be writing more. Not only for the DC and Marvel fandoms, but for the Power Rangers fandom as well. This story will be for the Power Rangers fandom. It will be the next chapter in my Cherish story. I know it is taking me ages to write it, but I will finish it, someday.

Cherish

Chapter Eight: Knight

Emily was having a bit of a problem. She had promised her Aunt Lisa she would dress up as Cinderella for her cousin's eighth birthday party. But that wasn't the problem, the problem was that she had promised to bring a Prince Charming along with her. Actually, her aunt asked if she could bring a Prince Charming along and Emily knew that one of her friends would be able to help her out. So, she agreed to it.

She had asked Mike first and he agreed. Emily knew that he would. He was a good friend to her and it seemed like he would do anything for her. Everything was all set and Emily was excited for her friend to meet some of her family members. She knew it would be a great day!

A couple days before the party, Emily was humming a song while she folded some of her clothes. A knock on her door pulled her focus away from her chore. She smiled when she saw Mike standing at her door. The smile disappeared when she saw the frown on Mike's face.

"What's wrong?" She asked as she set down the shirt she had been folding. She walked over to him and pulled him into a tight hug.

He smiled at her once they separated, silently thanking her for the hug. "My grandma is having open heart surgery and I have to go back home."

"I am so sorry Mike." Emily threw her arms around him again. "I hope she gets better. Her health is all that matters."

"I feel bad that I won't be able to be your Prince Charming this weekend." He did genuinely look upset, but as Emily had said before his grandma's health was more important then some stupid birthday party.

"Don't feel bad and don't worry about it. I can always ask Kevin to go with me." She might ask Jayden too, but Mia said he had plans for this weekend. So, she probably wouldn't. Emily offered to help Mike pack for his trip back home, but Mike declined. He left the room and Emily returned to folding her clothes.

Once everything was neatly folded and put away, she set off to find Kevin. He was in his room reading a book. Emily took a peak at the cover and noticed it was Moby Dick. He really seemed to be enjoying it, so she would keep her visit short.

She knocked on the door frame and Kevin looked up in surprise from his book. "You seem to be enjoying your book." Emily sad as she entered the room.

"Yeah, it's a pretty good book," He shrugged as he placed a bookmark in it. "So what brings you by?"

"Well, Mike has to go back home and I am out a Prince Charming and I was wondering if you could fill in for him?" Emily remained hopeful until she saw him frown.

"I can't this weekend, I get that swim meet, remember?" He reminded her.

"Oh, I'm so sorry Kevin I forgot." Emily sighed, feeling bad she forgot about her friend's swim meet. She felt like she was the worst friend sometimes.

"Don't feel bad Emily," Kevin said as he laid a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "And if I didn't have this swim meet you know I would say yes."

"Of course I do," She smiled at him and gave him a hug. "Thanks anyway Kevin."

Once she pulled away, she turned around to leave the room, so he could return to his book. He waved goodbye to her, but she didn't see it because her back was turned to him. Kevin just shrugged, grabbed his book, and laid back down on his bed.

Emily walked to the living room and sat down on the couch. She rested her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. She knew she had to call her aunt, but she didn't want to yet. She knew her aunt would be disappointed, but there was nothing Emily could do. Her three go to guys had plans for the weekend. It wasn't their fault.

She was about to get up and go call her aunt when she heard the outside door open. Jayden walked inside, wiping the sweat off his face with a red towel. He must have just finished his training for the day. He saw her sitting on the couch by herself and decided to join her.

"Get a good workout?" She asked him as he came to sit next to her.

"Yes, I had a very good work out. I am sore and I probably smell bad." He answered her question and Emily giggled. She didn't think he smelled bad.

"So, why are you sitting on the couch all by yourself?" He asked her as he placed his sweat covered towel in his lap.

She sighed before she answered him. "I have to call my Aunt, but I have been putting it off."

"Why do you have to call her?" He looked at her, a confused expression on his face. "I thought everything was all taken care of for this weekend."

"Well, Mike has a family emergency and Kevin has a swim meet, so I have no Prince Charming." Emily sighed again before resting her chin on her hands again.

"I can do it." Jayden uttered and Emily looked up at him and shock.

"But Mia tole me you had plans this weekend." She said as a smile over took her face.

"I don't have plans this weekend," He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not sure why she told you that, but I would be happy to be your Prince Charming, Emily,"

"Thank you so much Jayden!" She threw her arms around Jayden, hugging him tightly. "You are my knight in shining armor!"

"I thought I was your Prince Charming?" He laughed a little as he hugged her tightly.

"That too and I am so happy I don't have to call my Aunt Lisa," Emily got off the couch and ran out of the room.

Jayden watched her go with a smile on his face. It was nice to know that Emily thought of him as her Knight in Shining Armor and Prince Charming. And he honestly couldn't wait to see her dressed as a beautiful princess, even if it was just for her cousin's eighth birthday party.
