A/N: So, I received a review five days ago. It is a review that needs to be addressed. First of all I would like to this person for taking the time to send me a review. That was very kind of you. I also believe Jayden and Emily were meant to be, which makes it hard for me to ship Mike and Emily. Hello! My name is Christine and I am Jemily trash. Anyway, on to Antonio. I wrote that author's note four years ago. That's a long time. And of course I respect your opinion. Just like I hope you respect mine. And I will leave it at that. I hope you guys enjoy this one. Oh and this one picks up where the last chapter left off.
Cherish
Chapter Eleven: Song
Mike and Kevin had managed to get Jayden to lay down on one of the couches in the living room. Emily could feel the tears running down her cheeks as she watched him struggle with the pain he felt. Tears began to fall from her eyes as she watched him. He didn't notice, but Mia did. The Pink Ranger took her friend out of the room and hugged her as she cried.
"He's going to be okay Emily." Mia spoke softly as she hugged the yellow ranger. Emily knew she was right, but the tears began to flow. Mia hadn't been there when Jayden was unconscious. Emily was really worried he would never wake up. Master Xandred had almost killed him.
Mentor Ji came out of the room along with Kevin and Mike. All three looked a little down, which didn't brighten Emily's mood at all. "He is resting right now," Mentor Ji whispered. Emily wasn't sure why he was whispering. She figured it was because he didn't want to wake Jayden up. The red ranger may be out of it, but he had great hearing. "If one of you want to go sit with him you can."
"I'll go and sit with him." Emily felt that she seemed a little too eager as she pulled herself away from Mia. No one said anything though. Mike was looking at her like she had lost her mind. They moved out of her way as she walked to the door. She slid it open and walked inside. She smiled at everyone beofre she closed it. Emily heard their footsteps as they began to walk away. After she was sure she was alone she walked over to where Jayden was sleeping.
She sat down beside the couch he was on and rested her head on his arm. "You have to be okay, Jayden," She spoke softly as she rested her hand on his. "We can win, but we need you to lead us. Master Xandred will never know what hit him after the five of us beat his butt."
That didn't even get a smile out of her sleeping teammate. She sighed and tried to think of other ways to bring him back around. "I got it!" She said to herself, excited by the idea. Jayden always enjoyed her flute playing. But since she didn't want to leave the room to get her flute. She would just sing to him instead. None of the other rangers knew she could sing. Emily wasn't the best singer in the world, but she wasn't tone deaf either.
She cleared her throat and began to sing softly. "Cherish the thought of always having you here by my side. I cherish the joy. You keep bringing it into my life," Emily wiped away a few tears before continuing. "Cherish your strength. You got the power to make me feel good. I perish the thought of ever leaving. I never would."
Jayden didn't move or even open up his eyes. She had hoped maybe that would pull him back into the land of the living. "I guess I really am the Queen of Wishful thinking." She closed her hazel eyes and before she knew it had drifted off to sleep on Jayden's arm.
Four hours after Emily fell asleep, Jayden woke up feeling groggy and sore. He tried to sit up, but after a couple tries he realized he couldn't move his arm. He looked down and the first thing he saw was a head covered in blond hair. Emily must have fallen asleep while she watching over him.
He tried to remember what happened as he slowly moved his arm out from under her head. He was trying really hard not to wake her up. She looked peaceful and he wanted her to stay that way. He knew he had put the others, especially her, through a lot that day.
Jayden remembered the battle with Master Xandred and waking up with his head in Emily's lap. He also thought at one point in time that someone had sang to him. He wasn't sure if it was a dream or if it had actually happened. It was going to bug him until he knew the truth. A soft moan pulled him from his thoughts. Emily was awake. "Note to self: Never sleep like that ever again." Jayden was sure she said it to herself since she had no idea he was awake yet.
When she finally did notice she threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Oh Jayden I am so happy you are awake! We were all so worried," She hugged him a few seconds longer before she pulled away. "I should go get Mentor." She said as she hoped off the couch.
She was almost to the door when Jayden stopped her. "Hey, Emily did you sing to me by any chance?"
Emily shook her head. However, it was the blush that caught his attention. She was lying but he wouldn't call her on it. "No, you know I can't sing Jayden."
"I was just wondering." He smiled at her and the color of her cheeks were beginning to resemble the color of his uniform.
"I should get Mentor." She said as she left the room without looking back. He knew it had been her and he had to admit she had a very lovely voice.
