I hope you guys like it and I also hope people are still following this. Anyway, here it is. Leave comments if you want. You know how I feel about feedback.
Cherish
Chapter Twelve: Youth
There were no monsters to fight and they had done their training for the day. So, Master Ji let them have the afternoon to themselves. There was an art fair going on in the park and they decided to go to it. Jayden had been a little hesitant a first. However, Emily wanted him to go.
"Come on Jayden. You need to get out of this place every once and awhile. And the art fair will be so fun!" Emily told him as she flashed him one of her smiles. The smile that always made Jayden cave in.
"Okay, I will go but only for a couple of hours." Jayden replied, knowing that giving in was better at this point.
"Thank you Jayden." Emily said as she stood up and grabbed his hand, pulling him off the couch. "Let's go!" She said as she pulled him to the front door. The others had been waiting there. They must have sent her in to talk to him. They all knew what would happen if they had sent her in to talk to him. Jayden sighed and let Emily lead him out the door.
The walk to the park was a short one. They didn't only have booths for artists to sell their pieces. But they also had stands where they did face painting and sold cotton candy and other tasty treats. Jayden also noticed kids were playing on the play ground in the middle of the park still.
"I want to get my face painted!" Emily stated eagerly as she let go of Jayden's hand and dashed over to the stand.
Jayden missed the feel of her hand in his, but he wanted to explore a little and he was pretty sure she wanted too as well. He walked around looking at a few of the booths. He had to admit these people were extremely talented. He felt like he had no creative skills. But then again creative skills weren't needed to fight Master Xandred.
He had been walking for awhile when he decided to take a break. He bought a water bottle and sat on a bench near the playground. He took a sip of his water and placed the cap back on. His eyes drifted towards the playground. He watched as a little boy made his way down the slide. His father was at the bottom taking pictures of his son. Jayden wish he could have had memories like with his dad. But he barely remembered his dad. Jayden sighed and let his eyes drift over to the swings.
A teenage girl sat alone on the swing set with a daisy painted on her cheek. He didn't realize it was Emily until she tucked a piece of her blond hair behind her ear. She had no idea he was watching her as she swung back and fourth. She smiled and it made him smile. Her smile had always been infectous like that. Jayden began to think about the time he had first met Emily.
Ji was taking him out to the country to meet the future yellow ranger of his team. Her name was Serena and she lived on a farm with her parents and her little sister. Ji wanted him to meet the future rangers of his team when he was young, so he could form bonds with them. Serena would be the first one he would be meeting. She was a six years old, which made her a year older than him. He really didn't like that since he thought he should be the oldest member of his team, since he was the leader.
It took an hour to get out to the farm where Serena and her family lived. He hadn't enjoyed the car ride that much, but he had to admit that living on a farm might be fun. They were greeted by the sight of chickens, horses, and pigs when they pulled into the driveway. Jayden wanted to play with them but he knew, even at that age, that he was there to get to know Serena.
He and Ji got out of the car and they made their way to the front door. Serena's mother answered it and she greeted them kindly. She moved out of the way so they both could come in. Once they were inside she called for Serena and offered them some lemonade. Ji took a glass, but Jayden didn't want any.
A girl with blond curls came into the kitchen a few seconds later and stopped in front of Ji and Jayden. She greeted them with a smile and shook both their hands. "My name is Serena, it's nice to meet you both."
"It is nice to meet you Serena. I am Master Ji and this is Jayden." Ji said he introduced himself and Jayden to the little girl.
"Why don't you take Jayden outside to play, Serena," Serena's mother said from the spot she sat a the kitchen table. "Your father and Emily should be coming back up anytime now."
"Okay Mommy!" Serena shouted as she took Jayden's hand and led him outside. The backyard was big and was covered in lush green grass. A field of wildflowers lay beyond it and coming out of the field was a tall, blond man and he was holding the hand of a little girl who looked like Serena but only smaller. She held some flowers she must have picked in her hand. Jayden figured this was Serena's father and her little sister.
Serena's father and her little sister came onto the porch. Her father greeted them both and then went inside, leaving the little girl behind. But not before he told both of the girls to be nice to Jayden. They both nodded their heads and then their father disappeared inside.
"Hi, my name is Emily and I picked this for you." The smaller girl said as she handed him a daisy. He accepted it and thanked her. She smiled and he didn't know it then but that smile would bring him a lot of joy.
"Earth to Jayden." he heard someone say. He shook his head and saw Emily was now sitting beside him on the bench.
"What were you thinking about?" She asked him.
"It's not important," He replied as he shook his head. "I like your daisy." He told her, hoping the subject would change her focus.
"Thank you Jayden." She said as she smiled at him. She grabbed his hand and pulled him off the bench to go look around the art fair some more.
And Jayden began to wonder if she remembered the daisy story too.
