Dry your tears chapter 24
Amy's p.o.v
I watched blankly as the blur of trees and woods passed by as we flew down a lonely road. Her car was a convertible and quite frankly, I feel dirty in such a fancy car and all; my background wasn't worthy of this luxury. She told me I could call her by her name, Venice, but I stuck with Ms. V.
"Are you hungry? I was thinking we could stop at a diner a little ways ahead?"
I coughed. I wanted to say yes...I'm starving, but that would give away so much if she saw me wolf down a whole plate full. Apparently she took my cough as a yes and smiled. "Want to tell me a little more about your life at home?"
"Life is great with Xander and Vera. They take the utmost care of me. I'm their...little princess."
My stomach tightened as I repeated the line I was always taught from day one. I don't know if she believed it or not.. I can't look at her. She noticed me looking out of the window the whole time and decided to speak up once more.
"You get out much? You seem awfully fascinated with the window..."
I nodded briefly and left it at that. I felt so disrespectful...what kind of answer was a head nod? I was taught better than that...at least I think I was. "It's just pretty is all...sorry."
"You haven't changed. The last time I've seen you was years ago...when I got assigned to you again I was filled with joy. Even when I saw you when you were about, say, ten...you always said you were sorry and I never knew what for. May I ask what for now?"
I bit my lip. Don't say the wrong thing...I felt like an apprentice balancing twenty books on my head. Perfection was key. "I'm just now waking up...I apologize for being so vague with my answers." I jolted forward as Ms. V stopped the car suddenly. Cutting off the engine, she looked at me and sighed.
"Amy, I'm here to help you not harm you. If something is going on...I'm begging you to tell me! Please help me help you. What goes on back in that apartment?!"
"I don't know what you mean", I said through my teeth. I was smiling...so fake. "I love my life there!"
"And what about your school life? What about that?"
"Awesome. I've never been so excited to wake up in the morning and go see all of my wonderful friends."
"Oh? You didn't seem to complain much this morning. Would you like me to take you there now?"
"NO!" I covered my mouth as screams filled my mind. I wasn't supposed to yell...I didn't mean to yell at her. "I'm sorry I...I'm enjoying my time with you that's why I raised my voice. Forgive me." I sat back in my seat and looked out the window again. I could feel her looking at me, but I ignored it. She turned the key and we were off again to the diner.
How am I supposed to survive today...
Krise p.o.v
I paced back and forth behind the library shelves as Alicia crouched down.
"I don't like skipping class", she whined.
"Shhh. I'm trying to think...why hasn't she shown up today?! Does she know about Cream? Where did that black and red guy take her to...ugh!" I kicked over some books as Alicia scrambled to put them back in place.
"Our plan to befriend her was so perfect and you mean to tell me she's not gonna show up?! Bull shit!"
Alicia bit her finger nails. "Krise, calm down. Maybe it's a good thing she didn't show up...some things are for a reason you know..."
"..."
"Krise..."
"..."
"No...no Krise. We're not doing it!"
I grabbed my keys as Alicia panicked. "We're not going to look for her Krise! Who knows where she is? Will you please just sit down and be patient?"
I tossed my keys aside and sighed. "Fine. But I'm still worried about what Cream told me..."
"It's really none of our business...we should stay out of it."
"We can't stay out of it, Alicia. Once you know something like that its just too much to forget about. Maybe we should get some answers ourselves."
"I'd rather not..."
"It could be a big help to us getting closer to Amy.."
"Her aunt has nothing to do with us. Just trust me on this one and leave it alone."
My heart dropped as Alicia said that in the most serious tone.
"Something isn't right I know but that's a story for a totally different time, Krise. Understand?"
"No...no I don't understand. Something is going to come to the light...and I don't know if I want to be around for the aftermath..."
Amy's p.o.v
I sipped my lemonade and sat back against the booth Ms. V chose for us. "What do you want?"
I rubbed my sweaty palms against my shorts. "The drink was free...it should fill me up. I don't have any money I'm sorry-"
I watched as she waved her hand. "No no I'll pay Amy. Today is my treat, so what would you like?"
My eyes roamed the menu. Before I could say what I wanted my mouth went dry. A blue hedgehog walked through the door. He was the one from school...what was he doing here?! Ms. V turned to see what I was looking at and smirked.
"Boy from school?"
I looked back down, hoping he wouldn't notice me. "Yeah...something like that."
"He's cute. What's his name?"
"I'm not sure if I remember..."
Ms. V nodded in understanding and watched as he made his way towards us. I clutched my hands over and over.
"Hi."
I blinked twice. I swear I can hear my heartbeat thumping in my ears. Was he talking to me, or Ms. V? It has to be me...he doesn't know Ms. V. My eyes stayed on the table and watered. Why was I even crying...what was wrong with me?
"Hi...", I croaked.
Ms. V grunted and cleared her throat. "Good morning, I'm Venice, and who might you be?"
He shook Ms. V's hand and smiled. "Name's Sonic."
Sonic...that was his name. I remember now...the blue streak guy. Ms. V gave him a cheeky smile. "Why don't you join us? You seem to be a fellow student of Amy's school?"
My heart tightened up. Why was she inviting him to sit with us? What if he revealed something she doesn't need to know? What all does he know? Was she doing this on purpose?! How-
Ms. V's phone began vibrating, interrupting my raging questions. "I'll be right back, excuse me."
I inhaled sharply as Sonic sat across from me.
"So...Amy...right?"
I nodded.
"What're you...ordering?"
I shrugged.
"Why aren't you in school?"
I pointed out the window at Ms. V who was leaning against her car talking business. Sonic looked back at me and tilted his head slightly. I wanted to ask why he wasn't at school, but decided against it. It was none of my business anyway...
"You don't talk much do you?"
I shook my head. He was friends with most of the people at school who bullied me. I'm not even sure if they had him follow me...I'm going paranoid at this point. It was almost as if he read my mind...my heart stopped as he spoke again.
"I'm alone you know...they're not here." Sonic pointed to himself with his thumb. "You can talk to me, I try not to bite." Sonic chuckled, but my face remained blank.
"So...Shadow..."
I looked up startled. "What?"
Ms. V walked back inside and Sonic came over to my side to give her seat back. "So sorry about that! Alright...what're we ordering?"
I looked from Ms. V to Sonic and back to Ms V.
Sonic smiled at me out of the side of his eye. What was he about to say...
This was a little longer I think. Please review
