"You're a machine."
"You don't have to tell me that every time." Bella nuzzled against my neck. She was very affectionate this morning. "You're going to inflate my ego if you keep talking like that." I smiled. "Of course the way you moan my name always inflates my ego, so I don't know how the fuck it's fitting in this room right now." She was going to fall asleep soon. I could feel it. "You never did tell me about your town."
"What?"
"When we were at that restaurant, I asked you about your town, but then we got into an argument." Bella yawned as I spoke.
"Oh, yeah. What do you want to know?"
"What sort of family do you have?"
"Divorced parents. I live with my father in Forks. My mother lives in Florida. We don't talk that much. Next question."
"Do you have good friends?" I was trying to segway into asking about the Cullens, subtly of course.
"Only one, the others are shallow or trying to get into my pants. Next question."
"Anyone you hate?"
"No, hate is useless." It's only useless if you don't know how to use it, but I wasn't about to tell her that.
"Anyone that makes you feel uncomfortable?"
"Hmm, besides you?" She asked and I pulled her a bit closer to me. She was so close to falling asleep.
"Besides me."
"There's this freshman. All my friends think he's super good looking, but he's fourteen so their girly whispering about him just feels almost pedophile like. We're only four years apart in age, but it's just weird. Anyways, he has this really annoying habit of staring at me in the lunch room. We've had a few conversations and he's a nice kid, but I can't get over his glary prepubescent self. He makes me uncomfortable." I could sense her distaste for him, but I also could tell she was flattered.
"What's his name?"
"Why, you going to beat him up?"
"You want me to beat him up?"
"Not really. His name is Edward. I don't remember his last name, but his dad, Carlisle, works at the local hospital." Great, so it was that piss-ant that was looking at what's mine.
"Any old boyfriends I need to worry about?" The sudden sadness that engulfed Bella put me on guard.
"Actually, yeah. When I first met you I was going out with this guy called Jacob. He loves me, but I wasn't ready for that whole emotional mess. Anyway, between the time of our first encounter and our second I broke up with him." She was on the edge of sleep.
"Do you want me to beat him up?"
"I think you just want to fight someone."
"It's good to draw blood every once and awhile." Bella shook her head while chuckling. A moment later she was asleep in my arms. I kissed her on the top of her head. I guess I can lay like this for a few hours with her.
